The reviews don’t lie. Our family had a wonderful experience last week at Gather. We were helped by Troy and another young gentleman and they both made it a fantastic and memorable experience. It’s a small and intimate space that one fits about 3-4 customers. The directions were great, they answered our questions, we were able to geek out about cool sciencey stuff. We all loved the glasses. We took home the next day. It was an awesome souvenir to take back from Providence. *** if you’re reading this and just visiting the area, remember that you have to go back the next day to pick up the glassware.*** They’re also connected to the ice cream shop next-door run by a really sweet lady named Andrea. She was absolutely lovely. She made my daughter feel very very special on her birthday. We sat and chatted with her about ice cream and other random stuff. I feel like we made a friend. Andrea if you’re reading this. We hope to come back in the summer with our daughter. She’s hoping you’ll have a mango sorbet by then. Thank you, Troy for the really awesome experience! Our family thoroughly enjoyed it and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area

Wonderful experience! Brian is an amazing teacher. This place is a truly one of a kind experience. There are so many options to choose from for glass pieces. Go visit you will not regret your decision.

Everyone needs to come here immediately. It’s actually a shame that I can only give this 5 stars because it’s more like 10. My bf and I went as an anniversary date and made stemless wine glasses, it was WAY more fun that I expected and the outcome is so good🤌🏼. Brian and Vinny are amazing- suuuper kind, knowledgeable, informative, and you can tell they love what they do. I was a little nervous (bc hot) but the instructions were easy to follow.. You get to help with each step and the instructors are reallyy good at doing most of it but making you feel included/like you’re doing it. This was one of the most fun activities I’ve ever done, I’m SO glad we went and will DEFINITELY be visiting again!! 🫶🏼💕

We did the pint glass making a few weeks ago as part of our roadtrip. A true hidden gem, most glassblowing classes only allow you to do a small part, Gather gets you completely involved in all the techniques used to make your item. Cant recommend enough. Ian and Isabella were fantastic instructors who were very informative and funny making you feel so relaxed in the class and willing to answer any questions you had too. A must do if in the area

What an amazing experience we had at Gather!!!! We will 1000000% be going back. The guys were both such great teachers and you can tell they love what they do. It was awesome to see such a cool form of art appreciated and we found a new love for it too!!!

Had an excellent experience here making Stemless win glasses with my significant other for our anniversary. The whole process was incredible, from walking through the steps to actually doing them ourselves. We genuinely felt that we created our own pieces, with incredible guidance and safety from our instructor Ben. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to do something new and fun. + we now have glasses that will be with us forever!!

Great date spot! The instructors were so nice and made the whole experience really beginner friendly. I struggle with doing new things but they were understanding. I love the bowl I made. Big plus: there is an ice cream bar connected to it that had amazing Ice cream!

Brian & Vinny were AMAZING! They had great energy even though we were their last class. They had great vibes, humor & personalities. I'd definitely take their class again. They explained everything perfectly over & over again for each person to ensure accuracy. They make it extremely beginner friendly! It's very intimidating but with them you're in great hands. 10/10! I'm definitely going back!

Had a great experience at Gather! The class was four people and we each made out pieces with the instructors help. It was cool to see other make pieces that were different to what we were making and the process behind that. You do have to wait a day to pick up your pieces, but they do also ship and hold pieces for around 30-40 days. The drinking glasses my partner and I made turned out great! Definitely a great value and would recommend!

Scheduled a class while we were in town, and it was SO fun. Scheduling and paying were a breeze online. Day of, we found easy parking on the street in back of the shop, so try there first. I love that the class was limited to 4 people and we had two instructors. We felt completely safe at all times. Ian and Ben were funny and instructive, with very easy, straightforward directions. It was a perfect first exposure to glass blowing, and we'd love to return! We chose the ornament-making, as it's a simple, easier process for first-timers. They turned out gorgeous! The class was about an hour, and we felt the cost of the lesson and ornament were a good value! I highly recommended this experience at Gather Glass. *The glass item you make is outrageously hot, and needs to cool significantly. You pick up your piece the next day at the same place. *Check out the other Gather experiences on there !

Had such a fun experience making some glass pumpkins with my wife for our anniversary. The team was super helpful and assisted the entire time. This is the type of thing that takes years to safely do on your own, so don't expect to do it alone. Items came out great and everything was so fun

Came here on a whim with some friends from out of town and we had a great time! You pay upfront and they help you make the glasses of your choice. The one-off events are not really so much about learning how to blow glass, it's more about them hand-holding you through the experience of glass blowing, but don't worry, they take care of all the hard parts. If you want a more intensive glass-blowing class experience, this is not necessarily what you're looking for. I had a great time though, getting to see how these glasses were made and seeing them fired! They come sooo beautifully and this is definitely a fun thing to do with friends! :) Can be a bit pricy but if you know what you're in for, then it can be worth it.

I came here with our Girl Scout troop. I have to say, it was a truly fun experience. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Parking wasn't too bad, but we did have to park behind the building. There is no offstreet parking, but it is not metered. The shop itself is on the small side. Our group had 10 people and we could move around, but we were definitely a little crammed. Most of the scouts made drinking glasses. I had to be the oddball and make an ornament...lol! We got to choose our colors and then underwent a quick safety training. Ian ended up being our main instructor. He went over everything we needed to do, step-by-step, and explained the rationale as to why we had to do those things. He also discussed the properties of the glass and gave us some interesting facts. You do have to wait a day to take your masterpiece home, so be prepared to make arrangements to come back to get it. But, the final product is absolutely stunning! I almost think the ornament I made is too pretty to wait until Christmas to put it on my tree...I just might have to display it in my house now! And the glass my 16 YO made was stunning. These are not flimsy pieces either; they have some heft to them. I can't speak to cost as this was a troop-funded event. I also learned that there are more options than just glasses and ornaments to make; paperweights, vases & bowls to name a few. And, they offer memorial pieces too where you use a little bit of your loved one's ashes to make something. I don't know too many details on that, but I definitely tucked that tidbit of information away. I love supporting little local businesses like this. I highly encourage you check it out! Make it a family event. You can even take children as young as 8 :) Definitely want to come back!

This business isn't honest. They do not answer their email and telephone numbers. I made a last minute purchase and when I realized I needed to reschedule and emailed they never responded but charged my card for the entire purchase. Not being honest with purchases and refunds when customers make a mistake is not a good look.

Such an amazing experience!! The instructors were very nice, informative, and PATIENT!!! I will DEFINITELY be coming back for more fun!!

Benny was very knowledgeable and friendly! We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend for those looking for something unique to do in Providence. 10/10!!

What a fantastic time at Gather Glass making a vase! Wonderful l, friendly staff that really helped each one of us go through the steps of making our glass creations.

I've been interested in coming here for a while now and I'm glad I did. I registered for the vase making class online, and when we got there, two guys greeted us and had us fill out a waiver, showed us around, introduced us to glass blowing, and promoted their other business of ice cream making which is really cool as well. Originally we were supposed to make vases with a certain shape but we asked nicely if they could help us make a different shape and they were nice enough to say yes. You do get to pick your own color and learn about the process throughout it all since they're very knowledgeable with lots of years of experience. The guys were also very funny and there were only two other people in our time slot so it felt very private. The session was on paper as being from 6-7pm but the hands on portion was maybe only 15 minute per person. I was a bit disappointed in how the vase turned out since I was expecting more color, in smaller blobs and cannot withstand a full bouquet. I would be interested in trying out their ice cream making classes in the summer.

I made (2) Reservations for my grand-daughter and I, as we enjoy having experiences for Christmas. I have to say it was fun and interesting. They literally walked you through each step so you aren't actually doing it all on your own, so that takes the pressure off. But you get the experience and the Awww of the process. We were both thrilled and looking forward to going back to create another wonderful piece. They even take a little polaroid of you during the process. Nice touch.

While in town and visiting friends in Providence, we scheduled a glass-blowing class with Gather Glass as an activity. Located on the quiet western side of Atwells Ave, Gather is a small, working glass studio with three ovens that are blazing hot along with a small area up front for retail sales. For the class, we wear safety glasses and the students go through the steps one by one. For our glass ornament, we choose color shards before the work. Ian who owns Gather, rolls a glass blob in the main furnace to get it to temp. You help roll it in the colored shards and then in the oven to get it all melted. Once fully melted in, you help with the blowing and then thinning out the glass to be knocked off the glass blowing pole. It warms/cools overnight and you pick it up the next day! While the ornament class is short, Gather offers several other classes that are likely more complicated. But I still really enjoyed our short class and asking tons of questions to the team. It's really amazing to watch them work with this glowing hot glob of glass to form it into a piece of hand-crafted art. Definitely a fun activity while visiting PVD!

The staff were so very patient and kind. We went in to make 2 pint glasses. Mine broke at the very last stage :( but i was able to make another. They were understanding and assured me it's part of the process of learning a new skill. We had an amazing instructor. Definitely recommend this place as it was interesting to learn, i got something to take with me, and the employees make it such a fun time!!!

I've seen professionals doing glass blowing at Corning Museum of Glass in NY and at Waterford Crystal in Ireland. They are super talented and I have so much respect for them. When we heard about Gather Glass Blowing Studio on Atwells, we knew we wanted to try it. The first class we took was to make a glass ornament for our wedding anniversary. It was just my husband and I in the class and Ian our teacher walked us through every step. First is picking your colors. And they really are mindful of your safety by giving you safety goggles and telling you to stand where there are markings on the floor. After you create your piece, you have to leave it overnight in the oven. They have a schedule that you can take a picture of to pick it up. I had such a great time that I went back with my friend and we made a drinking glass. She had a wonderful time. We enjoyed talking with the instructor and assistant. Highly recommend signing up for a class!

We were looking for something different to do on vacation and we're lead to glass blowing classes at Gather. The staff here were engaging, very clear in their instruction, and allowed us to enjoy this unique experience. With this, we now have two handmade glass ornaments which we absolutely love. It should be noted that you cannot take your pieces home the same day, they need to cook for an evening but they offer to ship if you're on the go to your next destination!

I went on 05/18/2024, and finally got around to write this review. First thing they have you do is fill in a waiver, then you select your color scheme from a decent selection of color schemes, and then they give you a brief safety overview. The color schemes you get to pick from are varied and all produce very interesting results. I pick the dragon's breath I think it was. After that, it's all about following their instructions. The experience was fun, got to learn a bit about a form of art that is very versatile. All in all it was well worth the value. Also it's a very great date night activity.

We had a wonderful time at Gather Glass!! We decided to make vases, but you can make a few different things. Next time I go back I want to try making a pumpkin! I really enjoyed glass blowing because it was very hands on. We got to do all the steps to make our own vases. The workers did help a lot, but we worked the glass to create our masterpieces!! The class had 4 people in it, so you got a lot of one on one attention! I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to blow glass and wants to work with their hands to make something beautiful!!

I have been to Gather two times and each time it was for a class with a child. I cannot tell you how extremely nice the folks at Gather are! They are not only nice but are great with kids! They ask them questions, explain things and just in general are engaged with them. I highly suggest stopping in and either buying some glass from them or take a class. It's a great experience and not only do you take something home that's pretty cool but get a good education about glassblowing as well! Tip: Only take your kids if they can follow directions and be well behaved for 45 minutes straight in what could be an unsafe environment if they were to get wild

I visited Gather Glass for my 30th birthday activity. When we arrived, we were greeted by three awesome employees who made us feel incredibly welcomed and excited to learn the art of glass blowing. We were taught the step by step process throughout the duration of our time. From spinning the glass to dipping it into our chosen colors all the way to using a disposable mouth piece to blow air into our vases, we really had a ton of fun!! If I would have know that the entire process for making two vases would be about 35 minutes total, I would have purchased two classes because this truly was an amazing experience. Keep in mind that you can pick up your art work the following day, you need to give the glass time to cool. I highly recommend Gather Glass!!

Booked my husband and I a Make Your Own Drinking Glass class as an anniversary gift- was so fun! They really include you in nearly every step of the process and it's so nice to be able to take something home you made with your own hands! People working there were so nice and it was all around a great experience and I would definitely book again. Highly recommend it! I'm sure the other classes are fun, too! Looking forward to trying to make something else next time.

Just had my first class at gather & I couldn't be happier! The prices are so reasonable for not only having the class but then actually being able to take home what you make the next day! It was SO enjoyable and both people who worked there were extremely courteous, great teachers, and incredibly skilled. The class went so smoothly and I actually felt proud of myself once I was finished. I would 100% absolutely recommend anyone who likes crafting to come to a class. Definitely the coolest thing I've done in a while Update: we got our pieces back and they're gorgeous! Couldn't be happier.

My family had a great experience at Gather Glass making pint glasses with one of their experienced glass blowers. I was pleased by how hands on this activity was and how much fun everyone had, from old to young, while still feeling completely safe. We will definitely be doing this again next time we visit Rhode Island!

What a fun experience. My husband and I had a blast spending an hour making pint glasses and bowls. Because we took up 2 time slots, it was just us, so we enjoyed that. Although sharing our time with another 2 people would have been just fine as well. You start off by choosing the color you'd like and from there, they help you go step-by-step through the process. It's so outside of a regular craft class in my opinion. You get to put a chunk of glass in fire and watch the process turn it into something that you not only made but can use. And my favorite part is that both my husband and I have something quirky about what we made. His pint glass was a little short and stubby and my bowl turned out a little uneven. But it made it that much more enjoyable and although they help you a lot, you still feel as if you're the one making it. I can't wait to drink endless beer and bowls of cereal in our new glassware. Do keep in mind that whatever you make has to be picked up the day after (or whenever you're available to pick it up) so that it can set/cool.

We brought the older grandkids here today as part of their Christmas gifts. This was a fascinating and fun day for them and for us. Both guys working took the time to put all of us at ease with being around hot glass. Starting with explaining the importance of needing to wear safety glasses to choosing the color glass to describing what to expect with creating a glass paperweight. End product is ready for pick up the next day. Both kids received a cute little photo of them self creating their own art. Working in a 1:1 manner helping , describing, explaining and cheering the child on was fantastic. Each session lasted about a half hour from start to finish. The kids are eager to return. Thank you guys for a fun afternoon.

We went to Gather to celebrate my husband's birthday, and had a great time! Ian and Ben were personable and explained the process clearly. It was a lot easier than we expected. So much fun!

Such a fun experience! We did this for our 15th anniversary since the traditional gift is crystal. I figured close enough! Brian and Vinny were excellent teachers, very informative, patient, and experienced. Highly recommend! Keep in mind you'll have to come back the next day to pick up your finished product.

Excellent and a lot of fun! I messed up the first one and had to start over... No problem for these intrepid glassblowers! You pick up your creations the next day as they have to cool overnight, luckily we were still in town to pick them up.

Staff is super helpful in guiding you step by step on the glass blowing process. Benny was friendly and made sure we were comfortable throughout the whole class. I went with my bf and we both had a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend. I'm looking forward to going back to make something else! Just note that you would not be able to pick up the glass product until the next day or have it shipped for $20.

My son and I were in Providence for vacation and wanted something interesting to do. We have been to a glass studio before and liked it so I registered us for a class. Each of us made a glass pumpkin which took about 15 minutes for each of us. It was a much more hands on experience than we expected but it was fun. We spun the rod to melt the color onto the clear glass, we shaped it, blew air to round it out and helped remove it from the rod. The two people who were running the class were excellent. They were helpful and made sure we were comfortable and safe and they guided us step by step. Our pumpkins came out great and we had a great time. We will be back on our next vacation to Providence.

We loved our experience. Our instructors Benjamin and Vinny were so welcoming and friendly as they shared their passion and experience blowing glass. They guided us individually through the process of making our wavy bowls. It was fun to learn how our choices and techniques created unique pieces. We will definitely return to try another design. We'd recommend Gather Glass to anyone looking for a fun experience with your family or a small group of friends. This intimate studio was a great place to get creative after a bite on Federal Hill.

We recently visited this location as part of Gallery Night RI. I was surprised to learn that there was a glass blowing workshop and studio here in Providence. The shop was filled with beautiful one of a kind ornaments, vases, and other glass sculptures. We got to watch a live demo of the glass artist making an ornament. He provided informative and playful commentary about the glass making process and the different techniques he was using. They are open late Tuesday and Thursday evenings and enjoy speaking with visitors and customers. They are kid friendly and you can even schedule a time for your group to come in and create your own one of a kind pieces. These classes range in price from $45 each (ornaments) to $200 (memorial keepsake urn) and include all materials and supplies needed to create a one of a kind unique piece of art.

The instructors were nice enough and entertaining but I went to create something I can be proud of. Since the instructors do most of the work I expected my glass to look better than it did. The top isn't leveled and one side of the glass is thicker than the other. For $60+ the end product should have been better. The bottom where the glass was disconnected has different thickness and is pretty thin in one spot so will probably break soon. Glass is heavy which isn't a bad thing...

Visited on my birthday and it was a blast. It is very very quick but it has to be because you're working with hot melted glass. This is def cute for a date night or a quick stop with friends. The two guys were really welcoming, friendly and funny. I felt very comfortable with them.

Excellent glass blowing class it was fun and efficient and we were involved in making our pint glass. Highly recommend this as a fun activity for families or friends.

Friends and I took a glass blowing class with Benny and Alex for a bachelorette weekend and it was the highlight of our trip! They were extremely accommodating and let each of us choose our own piece (2 vases, a paperweight, a pumpkin and a wavy bowl!). We were so impressed by how much we each got to do, how organized and safe everything was, and how fun and kind both our instructors were. We had to leave early in the morning so they were also nice enough to let us pick up our pieces early, which we were all excited to see. Everything came out amazingly well and we all agreed we'd do it again in an instant! Thank you Benny and Alex for the memories, the photos and the great pieces!

FUN FUN FUN! My wife bought me a gift certificate for here last Christmas, and it only took eight months(!) to find the time to use it. The owners/team members are fantastic; they helped the three of us select our colors for the paperweight we were making, and one by one they led us through the glass blowing process. What's cool is that they let you handle the entire process, but they are right there to assist to ensure that you will have something special to bring home. We're definitely planning to go back, but next time we'll try our hand at making a glass. There's not much in the area as it is far away from the main part of Atwells Ave, but Anthony's Italian Restaurant is a short walk away so make it a date night and go to both places.

I gifted my husband a wavy bowl glass making lesson for his birthday, and it was such a cool experience for both of us. Ben and John are really cool guys, and excellent teachers! The took time to explain every step in detail, and really let the student get hands on with the experience. My husband is super hard to buy gifts for and this one was a big win!! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique gift or experience. Enjoy!!

Great experience with knowledgeable and patient instructors. Wonderful opportunity to make one of a kind gifts! We took the one hour class and made gorgeous pumpkins. Lots of colors to choose from! Class went quickly; I would have appreciated more history and info on the art. I give four stars only because the one hour class was far shorter than I anticipated. I felt somewhat rushed and would like to have learned more about history of glass blowing and perhaps the old mill location.

What an awesome experience! Will absolutely does this again with friends and family. The guys in the shop are fantastic and walk you through your choreographed steps you will take to work the glass - even for the one hour block we had there are tons of steps that they lead, they assist, and you even do the work on your own throughout. Funny, polite, knowledgeable, and professional. Great with COVID safety as well - everything is sanitized.

I went here for gallery night and got to see a live glass blowing demo, and it was awesome. They gave so much information on glass blowing and gave a very entertaining demonstration. I wish I could of bought a piece but $40 for a glass cup is not in my price range, I do want to come back for a class one day

I took a glass blowing class at Gather and had a great experience! Nolan and Chris helped us make our pieces and had great attitudes. The process of making the glass pieces was really fun and a unique experience. I definitely learned a lot and acquired the basics of a new skill.

Made pint glasses with the family. It was not what we expected, in a good way. You actually get to use the tools, the oven etc. Vinny and Benny were great. They were patient and did a really good job explaining the steps, directing and helping you create your piece of glass. It was totally worth the price. It would be a great date night, girls night out activity too. All of us loved it and we would do it again!
