Gatto Matto

We went to Gato Matto for dinner in a Friday at 5:30 p.m. right before John Legend's show. The perfect evening started with the perfect dinner experience. We order: calamari, delicious crispness, well seasoned, octopus season to perfection, fillet mignon cooked medium, once again perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, mushroom ravioli were creamy, pasta cooked at the perfect point. This was an amazing, delightful dinner with every single dish tasting perfect. It was our first time, but not our last for sure ! The only criticism we have is the place is well decorated, but they dressed the female waiters in a very reveling outfit, the clothes don't match in any way the environment, definitely not what I was expecting, maybe they will see that families dinning might feel uncomfortable with their clothing choice for their female staff. The waiter that served us was extremely polite, efficient, pleasant.

As usual, I loved the time I spent at Gatto Matto. I enjoyed every bite of every dish we tried, and the pistachio pesto pasta is still top notch! Our waitress Stacy was exceptional: very attentive, kind and smily. The ambiance is great with a in-house DJ, but if I may, some speakers are too loud since they are right next to the tables. Still, I recommend this place!

We were originally looking for a nice Italian restaurant in Montreal, but downtown options didn’t impress us. While visiting a spot across the street, we noticed Gatto Matto in Laval and decided to give it a try—what a great decision. We both ordered the pasta with arrabbiata sauce, and it was excellent: flavorful, perfectly cooked, and with just the right amount of spice. The sides were equally strong—the spicy broccoli and fried Brussels sprouts had layered, complex flavors that elevated the dishes well beyond the ordinary. We sat at the bar, and the service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and professional. The atmosphere really stood out too: upscale and stylish, with great music that created a lively but comfortable vibe. Overall, Gatto Matto Laval exceeded expectations and outshone the Italian options we had considered downtown. Highly recommend for anyone seeking elevated Italian cuisine with excellent service in a modern setting.

Great location and atmosphere—highly recommended. This spot offers a relaxed and casual Italian dining experience. Portions are smaller, but the flavour and service are consistently good. The vibe is laid-back, making it an easy choice for any occasion. If I'm staying in Laval again, I'd definitely come back.

Gr8 spot for dinner and drinks after an event at Place Bell. Our hostess Béatriz and others were so attentive and welcoming. Would have loved to sit on the patio or the main area but we didn't have a reservation so we were delighted to get a table. Thank you Gatto Matto, looking forward to being back soon!

We were a few girls going out to eat for birthday night and we did reserve a table. The food had limiting options and werent so diverse, but it tasted exquisite. However, the parmesan fries were extremely salty and not so appetizing. The portions were incredibly small too and way too overpriced. The waiter also took too much time to serve us in the beginning. We were an hour in, almost done with our food when our waiter would ask is with an irritated tone if we were done, as if she wanted us out. She didn’t try to hide it. We also stayed for a while to order dessert and she comes up to us asking us if we wanted anything else to see if we would leave in an annoyed tone. It was only an hour in and she already looked fed up. Overall, the service was one of the worst, and the waiters didn’t try to hide their unpleasantness. Even after paying the bill, they immediately come to us telling us to leave because they’re expecting other people. The waiter tried to act interested when it came to tipping and it was one of those fake enthusiasm. As someone who works in restaurant service, it is incredible how you throw people out for other customers. Service should be equal and not biased. The way we got treated just because we were young adults speaks volume. Sadly, would not be returning and avoid going here if you want to have a top notch service.

Food was good was decent . The pizza was too doughy on the crust. The appetizers was the star of the meal very crispy and perfectly cooked calamari. The pistachio pasta was also pretty good. The fior di late tagliatelle was very basic something that I was expecting to be a lot better. Our server was amazing explained the menu well kept our water refilled. The atmosphere on the other hand was not great, the music was super loud, to speak across the table we had to almost yell. Ended the night with Tylenol for a headache. The music could lowered a little bit and it would be a perfect evening.

My husband chose to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary at Gatto Matto and it was an amazing choice. Food was 100% as always. Service IMPECCABLE making us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant, even though they were quite full. Thank you.

Slow service in the beginning then improved. Burrata was memorable, ambiance above average. Service needs to be a team effort.

Gattomatto in boisbriand - SLOWEST SERVICE EVER.... Took them 35 minutes just to hand me and my partner water. If it's a Saturday night knowing it's gonna be busy, HAVE MORE STAFF. No one should have to wait 35 minutes just to be hydrated.

Decided to come back and try this place again. Tons of free parking and public transportation. Reservations are required and recommended. We were brave and decided to try the chef board. Which consist of a ribeye steak, lamb chops, giant shrimp, fries, mushrooms and broccolini. We also added a side of roasted cauliflower. Let's begin The roasted cauliflower is a staple at this place. Seasoned well and roasted until golden brown. Comes with a cauchupepe sauce. This is a favorite of mine and will order it again. Next up the main star of the evening. The lamb chops were cooked well but they rested to long and were cold. Seasoned well and cooked right. If they were warm they would be a star if the plate. Since it rested to long for the steak to be cooked it was a bummer. The giant tiger shrimps were overcooked and stone cold. Same issue with the lamb with resting to long The fries are fries no need to say much more . Cooked golden brown and were served warm. The mushrooms and Brocollini were seasoned well and cooked perfectly and we're served warm. Stand alone item for next time. The ribeye which was to be the highlight was not cooked evenly and some parts were over cooked and some was raw. The steak itself was seasoned well but there was a huge vain that ran in the steak making it chewy and hard to cut. Was not impressed for the steak . Will i go back yes but will stick to there staple dishes. Enjoy

Wow this place was awesome ! Love how laval is doing their own thing and getting way more fabulous as time goes by.. you don't even need mtl anymore lol It was Super EASY to get a reservation on OpenTable ! The resto even called to confirm our presence twice pretty sweet! We came here for a dinner date and it's seriously a nice intimate place for it. This place is bomb!! They're in the food space of the place Bell in laval! It is super beautiful decor as you walk in Parking is free underground if you eat here ! dope! Our waiter was super nice and friendly he gave us good recommendations and made sure to cater to all our needs very efficiently ! Food: 5++++ everything was freshly prepared and cooked perfectly ! We had a bunch of Appetizers we shared they brought us extra plates so we can grab stuff on our plate more easily loved it! My faveeeeee the Charred Cauli caccio i pepe wow the sauce was super flavourful and the cauliflower was cooked so delicious ! Super crispy and well seasoned I really enjoyed it The olives were served warm that's super rare and I loved it ! Its so different from just regular olives .. they were delicious ! 5/5 The sautéed mushrooms 5/5 Chicken dish 5/5 .. it was a chicken breast and I was amazed by how much juices were actually flowing out the breast it was extremely tender and nicely seasoned 5/5!!!!!! It's so hard to get chicken breast cooked right and that juicy kudos!! Drinksss kept pouring !!! I enjoyed the rome sour and vodka/redbull really enjoyed how fast they got to the table! Overall, we had an amazing time a great first impression and we will obviously be back here again for part 2 our new favourite spot !! Super happy we found this place by fluke !! Can't wait to try their other dishes next time! Totally recommend !! Cheers

Always great ambiance and good food. The servers are so friendly. A must to try. And their Bavette de boeuf is amon the tenderess ones I have tried.

Resto Italien tres jolie et a même le centre Bell. Spacieux et belle deco. Beau choix de pizza et plus. De mon cotė jai goutė Funghi Tartufo.la pizza croute mince est delicieuse. Seul bėmol ca reviens un peu chère Jimagine que comme il sont sur le site de la place Bell ca explique car dans le coin a pieds il y a pas temps de choix

I give a 4 star because the food here is amazing, the food has been always good when I've been here. They have a cute flowery decor all over the restaurant. They also have a very pretty big bar. This place is located in the same building as the Place Bell On the weekend they have a DJ that plays. This place is always full and very very loud, with the music and everyone talking it's very hard to hear the other person in front of you This is modern Italian restaurant, so if you go don't except for it to be authentic. If you go I recommend getting the calamari, the burrata, the filet mignon, the salmon tartare and the pastas. This place have underground parking, you just have to give them the ticket before leaving and they will exchange it with alot ticket which makes your parking free. During the summer they have a very big patio outside. If you go here you the need order the "suivez la Rose" sangria pitcher is taste like the watermelon Jolly rancher. So good to drink but also dangerous haha. Nothing negative to say about the staff I suggest this place for 2+ group of ppl $$$+

We enjoyed it, food was good had the cauliflower entree was really good, my boyfriend had the calamar was good but small portion. Then we had steak very good and pizza. Pizza was ok had the burrata one. Was just soo thin that went through and with burrata felt wet a little. But crust was good. I would maybe try another one next time or something else. Ambiance was nice went on a thursday night not too loud. Was able to talk.

Got multiple courses with desert and champagne, nice atmosphere. Was for a friend's birthday and I can't speak on the price; but my experience here was good! Nice dishware as well; something I take notice of.

Came here for a friends birthday on a saturday night and it went really well! we got 3 pizzas to share and I got the salmon tartare as an entree. I loved the tartare, one of the best I've had in a while. The pizzas were good but the toppings and the cheese kept sliding off. The waiters were all very nice and attentive, a bit slow at time but it was really busy. We had brought our own cake and they were nice enough to bring it out for us but they brought it out while one of our friends was in the bathroom! That could've been executed better. The restaurant is really well decorated and chic. We were at a booth and all six of us were comfortable. The bathrooms are so cute and instagrammable (It's like they knew girls take selfies in bathroom mirrors or something) There was one mishap when the fire alarm rang and we weren't sure if we had to evacuate or not, makes for a great story! It's also very well located, right next to the metro!

We organized a bridal shower (18 August 2024) at this amazing venue. The Head Chef, Ara was amazing, the food was excellent, the team was attentive and the venue was beyond gorgeous. We highly recommend this restaurant. We will certainly return. Thanks to the great team at Gatto Matto for making my daughter's bridal shower so memorable for her and our guests!!!!!!

Good atmosphère, food was ok , but overpriced... I had pizza that was really good I enjoyed it, cocktails were good but nothing out of the ordinary.

Beautiful resto! Very modern. Solid place to have a bite or a drink before or after you attend a show/game at Place Bell. Parking is available indoors. Entrance is on the south side of the building. Please make sure to ask the hostess to validate your parking before you leave. Kid friendly. Service during my dinner was top notch and friendly. We were a group of 4 and tried a bunch of plates/appetizers and wanted to get our DRINK ON the celebrate an occasion!!! This place is great if you go out with friends and to celebrate an occasion. We started the evening off with a pitcher of red Sangria and it was decent. It did feel a little watered down and had excessive ice. The pitcher was evenly split into 4 and that ended up about 2/3 of a glass (they're pretty big). More than a quarter of the pitcher was ice. This kind-of left us wanting given the price-tag so we decided to go for individual drinks instead. I had a bloody Caesar and it was good. As far as the plates go, for me it was kind-of a mixed bag. It was my first visit but everyone else in my group has been here 2-3 times before me. Apparently, the menu changed? The pizzas looked different? Can't say firsthand but this stuff does tend to happen with new restos. Here is the plate breakdown: Calamari (3 stars) - The calamari were good but for $15 the plate was a bit too gastronomic. Basil aioli sauce was fab. If this plate was more filled out it would have been great. More sauce too! Burrata (2 stars) - $22 is a stiff price given this plate's small size. Decent. Wouldn't have it again. Veal Meatballs (3 stars) - 3 meatballs for $14. Taste was decent. Had better though. Neeeeext! Charred Cauliflower (5 stars) - This plate blew everything else I tried off the table. Loved it! That cacio e pepe cause tho... OMG! Porchetta Pizza (2 stars) - The pizza was cold and somewhat runny on the inside. Distribution of the pizza was amateurish. This pizza was $23? Thank you, next. Gnocchi Pasta (2 stars) - The gnocchi were decent, but the sauce was off? I wasn't the only one who felt this. In fact, everyone at the table who tried this dish in the past felt it was "different". Overall, nice place to have drinks and share a few bites. Food was weakest point. Maybe it was an off-night? Somewhat pricey. I would be back, but I'd like to try the other restos in Place Bell first.

Loud, this place is insanely loud so do not expect to come here for a quiet chit-chat or a relaxed ambiance. We were about 25 for a late night Christmas Party and we had an isolated corner spot which was nice. The set menu was $65 for an appetizer, primi piatti and main course. I chose the Beef Tartare which was ok, i should have gone for the prosciutto which was heavenly. It's drizzled with a Giardiniera oil and whipped ricotta. This was followed by gnocchi which were good but only had one piece of sausage in a white cream sauce The final course I chose was a 7oz Filet Mignon. While it was good it lacked the taste from a steakhouse. The sides were mashed potatoes and simple broccoli, which was not very original. The other choices were shrimp or a vegetarian pizza and almost no-one selected that. The parking in this area is worse than downtown Montreal as it's close to Bell Place and a Metro Station, there was a hockey game so the parking at the Bell Place was full so take this into consideration. The service was very attentive (Kristina rocked) and the decor is very nice and modern. The clientele is very young and branché for Laval. It comes down to the noise level for me, by 11pm the place was empty yet the DJ still kept blasting away a mix of 70s to 90s hits.

Great food, excellent service. The place is nice and cozy. The wait is not too long. Their appetizers are FIRE. You have to try the charred cauliflower. If you are a vegan that can be all you order. I had to share it with my fiancée.

i am not one to leave negative reviews but i was thoroughly unimpressed with this place. the waitress for whatever reason was extremely rude and interrupted me multiple times while ordering and even gave us a dirty look or two for no apparent reason. it is overpriced for what it is - near 30$ for a tiny plate of pasta with mediocre sauce. handmade pasta is great and all, but many other places make it for much less and better service. will not be returning.

We really wanted to like this place. The decor, music and overall vibe was immediately impressive. However, our eagerness quickly turned into frustration when we were forced to wait almost an hour for a two person table that we reserved days in advance. Within that 50 minute period, we watched countless other tables walk in and be seated before us, and the only attention we received from any staff members were a couple of uncertain "it won't be long"s from the hostess. We finally got seated at the smallest, most mediocre table in what would've been an uncomfortably crowded area had the tables around us been full. But much to our surprise, they were vacant and stayed that way for the remainder of our meal which led us to question whether our prolonged wait time was at all necessary. Shortly after being seated, our smiley and polite waiter (who ended up being the best part of our experience) took our order and things began to look up. However, our disappointment quickly re-emerged when we noticed that the couple who was seated after us received their main courses before we even got our cocktails. We ended up waiting a total of 40 minutes for our meals. The food was good but definitely not good enough to make up for the rest of the evening. Our experience goes to show that no matter how trendy a restaurant appears to be or how picture-perfect their wallpaper and food is, nothing can compensate for poor service. Will not be returning.

This place was really hyped up, so before going I had high expectations but to be honest it was pretty mediocre,there are a few high points thought, beautiful ambiance and a great decor for a nice big space,very trendy also the music was great and the staff was very friendly. We started off with a few appetizers, whipped ricotta and some focaccia, I found it delicious I just wish it came with more focaccia, we also took the salmon tartar.... the colour looked off, not your usual pink but more of a dull colour... tasted alright but it needed some salt. Then we took the pesto pasta with burrata, the pesto tasted very vibrant but it lacked salt, and we also took a Calabrese pizza, which we found to be a little salty but the crust was nice and crispy with a little chew the way I love it! All in all I'm glad I finally tried this place it was just a little underwhelming.

We were invited for a graduation supper I- we parked indoor it was the wrong parking we had to pay, it is not specified were to park for the restaurant. I went up stairs to tell them the manger said you parked the wrong garage after we spend a big big bill we didn't give a f..... for our parking , they should have a sign outside that we are allowed to park for free, 2- we found the music was so loud we were not able to talk to the person next to us. 3- there was a waiters remove all our glass off the table we still had beer in the glass,we still had sangria in my glass he removed it, I was in the lady's room it looked like he was in a hurry to go home or what!!!!!! The salmon was served raw They were rushing us I will not recommend this restaurant I understand we have to have patience but this is not ........

I was looking forward to this place, it has a lot of hype. The atmosphere is fun and lively, and the bar looked good. I'm Italian so I'm really picky about Italian restaurants. Husband had the gnocchi and the portion was very large, however I thought the porcini cream sauce was not very good. It was overloaded with too much dried mushrooms or dried chunks of something, my husband thought it was garlic. I think it was supposed to have sausage? But I don't know...we ate it, but I would not order it again. My kid had the fettuccine carbonara and he inhaled it. I got the octopus and although I like spicy food, it was so overloaded with harissa, it detracted from the whole dish. I love harissa, but this was just too much. There should have been some dainty bits of sauce, and not a moat around the entire dish. The menu from website said it included bruschetta, but I didn't see any bread. Serve it with a bread or something to cut the strong and smoky flavors. The focaccia bread we ordered for appetizer was excellent, and it was served with a really good olive oil. I should have had the pizza, it looked good at the next table.

The place is beautiful and different from any other restaurant. The service was very friendly... We were with a baby and were greeted perfectly (Sometimes trendy places like this aren't great with kids, but the staff here was more than welcoming) It fell a little short when it came to the food. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great either. Appetizers: The cacio e pepe cauliflower was delicious, but a little too burnt. The burrata was served with the juiciest yellow tomatoes and well seasoned. My friend had the beef tartar and said it was very good. Mains: We tried the pizza margherita and the porchetta. They were ok. I like that they don't serve that soft Neapolitan style... there is a serious overload of those in Montreal/Laval. Still, the pizza is relatively ordinary. The crust had a nice crunch to it but it was a little too oily for my taste. The mac and cheese was simply a rosée sauce with cheese, which is not at all what I expected. It was good for a rosée but not for a mac and cheese, which should definitely not be a tomato based sauce. For 26$, I was expecting an amazing cheesy plate of pasta. We had a few drinks and they were well executed. The prices: definitely expensive... BUT I expect it and understand it considering the decor and vibe of the place. I just wish the food would match the prices. It is still a new place and I might revisit to see if it gets better. I don't think the food is more than a 3 star, but the place as a whole is definitely a 4 star for me.

Nice décor with the exception of the TV screens, lots of room, decent service, ugly location, terrible bar, over priced menu and quality is mediocre. Basically, this is a place for the uninitiated. Its a place to go and hang out if you're 18-23 with some food. Your typical Centropolis Laval experience. Young waitresses (very early 20s) in short dresses with sub-par drinks and no attention to gastronomy. Prices are Plateau Montréal level with 1/2 the experience and quality. If you're going for pizza, might as well go to one of those BYOB places, as their quality is nowhere close to where it should be at those prices. Menu sounds appetizing but the product is not as advertised. Its just OK. Their fior di latte is comedic, Octopus terrible, My rating would be 4 star if prices were 40% less. Go once.

I came here with my friend last Saturday and they offered us a table but we asked to be sat at the bar. What a great decision because our waitress was amazing - "Chris "was such a delight. We Ordered a bottle of red wine and three entrées to begin. We had the Burrata and chose the the special beet gnocchi of the day which came with king crab and lastly we had the cauliflower. The cauliflower was amazing the cacio e Pepe sauce was to die for. I enjoyed the gnocchi but found the crab not well suited for this dish. The burrata was good and it came with some pesto and slices of tomatoes which was nice and fresh. We finally decided to also try the grilled octopus. I loved the dish. The mint and cucumber was a nice touch but the portion was extremely small for the price. We were actually here to celebrate my birthday an Chris surprised us with a delicious ginger beer drink mixed with whiskey. We both shared the filet mignon and the falco pizza which is a pizza that doesn't come with tomato sauce. It was very good and spicy and not soggy at all! The filet mignon was cooked exactly how we asked - medium rare. It was delicious. Finally we ordered the pistachio ice cream and I have to say this was the tastiest and creamiest gelato I've had in a while! Amazing and highly recommend it. I was offered the chocolate bomb cake for my birthday which was good too ( however I am not a chocolate person so not my fave ). The service was top notch. I would definitely go back and highly recommend sitting at the bar to be served by Chris !! Thank you Chris !

Elegant and nice environment for a restaurant. Draw back is that it is way over priced for a bowl size pasta in my case they if I compare the portion it is smaller then a baby bowl to feed an infant. The service was good the everything was great except their portions. Even my wife with the chicken parmesan plate..nice presentation plate but for a piece of chicken and no pasta.. veggies.. extremely overpriced. I won't go back unless it's paid by someone else other then me. This review is true and I am not lying

This was the second time I ate here and it was really good. I have no complaints about the food but I did feel like the waiter was trying a little too hard for us to like him. Despite that we had a great experience.
