Gaucho Parrilla Argentina

Five out of five stars doesn’t even begin to do this place justice. My coworkers and I had an extraordinary experience—truly one of the best meals I’ve had in my entire life, and that’s no exaggeration. We started with their three‑course menu, opening with both the chicken and beef empanadas. The flavors were phenomenal—rich, savory, and just downright delicious. We also added the blackened shrimp, which turned out to be an excellent decision; the seasoning had this bold, smoky depth that made the dish ridiculously good. The charcuterie board was spot‑on, featuring a selection of cured meats that were clearly high‑quality, robust in flavor, and thoughtfully chosen. For the main course, we shared the Parrillado Mixta. Wow. The sheer amount of tender, juicy, downright scrumptious meat was impressive, yet somehow we had no trouble polishing it off because every bite—steak, chicken, all of it—was bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The chorizo, though, might have been my personal favorite. It had a beautiful heat to it, incredibly juicy pieces, and a flavor that hit you immediately in the best way possible. The potatoes were another crowd favorite. The horseradish sauce they came with was balanced—noticeable but not overpowering—and added a delicious, slightly sharp contrast that worked perfectly. The assortment of sauces they brought out—chimichurri, garlic, red pepper, and more—elevated every dish they touched. The vegetables served with the main course were also excellent, charred just right and full of flavor. Dessert was a type of poundcake along with a shortbread cookie. My favorite was the cookie which was buttery and had a delicious fruit/chocolate filling inside. Our drinks were fantastic as well. I ordered the Bushwick cocktail and a Sazerac, both of which were beautifully balanced, aromatic, and incredibly smooth. The atmosphere at Gaucho sealed the deal. From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be a great night. The interior is warm, sophisticated, and intimate without feeling stuffy. Our team sat upstairs near the additional bar, though the downstairs area has an even better vibe. The staff were wonderful—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Our server in particular was exceptional, and the restaurant is lucky to have her. All in all, an unforgettable night. Anyone local absolutely needs to come here. Too bad I live in Rhode Island, but if I’m back in Pittsburgh, I know exactly where I’m going!

This was one of the best meals I’ve eaten in a long time. I wanted to go somewhere I’ve never been before for my birthday and Gaucho had been high on my list to try. We had the Parrillada Mixta and Vegetales Mixta. Everything was perfectly grilled and the selection of chimi churris were a perfect accompaniment. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. Well worth the price paid.

Had a great first visit to Gaucho with two friends. We made a reservation via Resy and were seated right away, which I’d definitely recommend, especially on a busy weekend night. We shared the camarones (shrimp) appetizer, which was excellent and full of flavor. I ordered the Granada cocktail, the braised beef sandwich with a side salad, and a red sangria. We each also had a Well Reposado Tequila shot (Oredain). Everything was delicious, the beef was incredibly tender, and the portions were generous. We had a cozy front booth and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server, Cecelia, was very friendly and helpful with recommendations (none of us had been before) and immediately asked about food allergies, which I appreciated. There was a small mix-up when our check wasn’t split as requested, but it was quickly corrected once we mentioned it. One thing to note: the handheld payment system defaulted to a 22% tip instead of 20%, which was a bit surprising. With the shared shrimp appetizer on my tab, my total came to $106 and change. Downtown parking can be challenging on Saturday nights, especially when there are nearby events. All of us parked in nearby garages, but rates vary and can be quite high during events. Overall, the food and drinks were outstanding and I’d absolutely return.

We stopped here for an early dinner prior to seeing a show, and we would recommend a reservation because even at an earlier dinner time on a Saturday, it got busy quickly! When planning a stop here, consider the show schedules in the Cultural District as the busyness of the restaurant and the area itself are heavily impacted by shows and events. The menu offers a large variety of plates, ranging from sandwiches to full steak dinners and tasting menus for larger parties. For an early dinner, my husband and I stuck to sandwiches. Our waiter also gave us a complimentary chimmi churri flight as it was our first time visiting, and the red pepper was the best one by far! The service was great, and when we asked for recommendations, our waiter did an excellent job of walking us through the menu and giving recommendations based on both what tends to be most popular in each section, but also what he enjoys and appreciates. I had the braised beef sandwich, and the flavors and tenderness of the beef were stunning, I can see why it’s listed as the #1 guest favorite on the menu! My husband had the steak burger (which is cooked on the wood fire grill), and we were impressed with the flavor that the wood grill brought to the meat. He noted that having more than two choice toppings included would be nice (he added some of the red pepper chimmi churri), but fewer toppings does let the wood grilled flavor shine. The meat quality is really outstanding, the only critique we have is that for around $20 for a sandwich, we would hope the included side options would be a bit more stand-out (you can opt to get a salad instead of chips if you prefer). We don’t typically get dessert at restaurants, but the pionono caught our eye, and it was worth it. It’s a more unique flavor combination and profile, but it’s delicious and the cake has a lovely texture. The seasonal fruit topping we had included raspberries, strawberries, and vanilla. As far as unique elements go, the red pepper chimmi churri and the pionono were the parts of the meal that stood out to us most, but our meal was good quality over all, and we’d recommend considering Gaucho Parrilla Argentina the next time you’re near the Cultural District.

I have been here on a few occasions and i would say i have had good experience every time. Reservations are easy to make on line or on the phone, they are extremely accommodating depending on party size. I have even gotten the take our from here. The meats are so good, you cannot go wrong with the Parrillada Mixta. I will say it says recommended for 2, but i have been able to finish one off by myself on two occasions.

We had a reservation so we were seated right away at a 2 person table. I'm usually not a fan of 2 person tables because they tend to be too small when you have dishes, drinks and utensils. I guess it worked out because we ordered minimally. The food came out very quick that we didn't think it was ours. The restaurant being a bit loud, we could not hear what the server was saying (different than our waiter) so that didn't help. My boyfriend ordered potatoes along with his steak so it was on a circular plate. Mine on the other hand, was served on some wooden board. It was big enough to just fit the steak. We were also given 4 different sauces. While the wooden board looked great, it kept spinning on the table as I tried to cut meat on a table that was a bit too high. It was pretty annoying. The sauces and steak were great but nothing extraordinary. For the price point, we were disappointed. We have had better steaks in general and in Argentina, especially at that price range. It was a good experience trying Gaucho but probably won't return.

We’ve been here a couple times now. This last time, it wasn’t so great. The food was okay. My sandwich was dry (pictured with chips). I asked for Aus Jus (which they don’t have). I was given a tiny amount of some sauce & was charged $3.00 for it 🙄 Now, my hubby’s was delicious & juicy. $53 for two sandwiches (with tip) and we only drank water.

Tried Gaucho Parrilla for the first time before the show last night. Been wanting to try them out and finally remembered to make reservations. We both ordered the sirloin flap steak (medium rare) and added the papas on the side. Also ordered a side of the corn pudding. A complementary flight of chimichurri (reg, caramelized onion, ajo, and pepper) was provided. Everything was very good. Steak was flavorful, tender, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The chimichurri selection was nice. The pepper was my favorite. The corn pudding stole the show. Creamy, studded with crispy pork, and topped with pepper oil. Sebastian our server was funny and attentive. Only two issues, it’s a bit loud and the food was a little on the luke warm side (seems to be a problem these days when dining out). Either issue was not enough to ruin the experience. We will be back.

Best steak in Pittsburgh in my opinion. Have to go with the ribeye. Other dishes here are solid but if you come here MUST get the ribeye. Chorizo is my favorite app by far. Corn is also very good. Empanadas are solid. A lot of the sides are just average like the roasted papas. Service is mostly solid. Definitely a fast paced place during busy dinner hours. Cook most things in that wood fired oven which looks amazing. Fan of the ambiance. Very open due to high ceilings.

I think this place is a little overrated. Yes the steak and the chimichurri were both good. They're not kick your dick in "this is the best piece of steak you'll have" good Honestly the star of the show there are the potatoes. Seasoned to perfection, melt in your mouth, buttery deliciousness. I can eat buckets of those It's a good date night spot if you want a nicer casual spot without having to ball out. Service is good since they know most of their customers are going to tip well To me personally the taste has gone down since they moved downtown and I know many others that have agreed with this

The food was amazing! I ordered the argentino salad and it came with bell peppers, mushrooms, potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked. Chimichurri wonderfully blended. Delicious! I was here three months ago and still raving about it today

FOOD & DRINKS Rosemary Braised Beef Con Pan - The meat was alright. A bit more on the blander side. Since it was late, they had run out of the Ciabata Bread so I opted for a deconstructed version with a toast. The toast was pretty salty and oily in my opinion. The chips that came with it were crispy and good though! Iced Matcha Latte - Pretty decent! I didn't get anything to sweeten with it. The matcha was well dissolved and the flavor was good though a bit more on the milkier side. VIBES The place was super crowded on Friday evening. I came with a party of 8 and didn't have a reservation so we waited around 1.5 hours to be seated. They have upstairs seating as well as tables with swivel chairs and booths as well. Pretty loud and crowded. Lighting is on the dimmer side. SERVICE Service was great! Aside from there being no seating for waiting, when we were seated, everything came out relatively fast and our waitress was very personable!

Our very first visit here and it won't be our last. From the moment you walk in you smell the delicious aroma of wood fired grills cooking up tender cuts of meat . The whole vibe is very upbeat with great music and a very modern decor. We tried the empanadas as suggested by our server as an appetizer. They were okay, but the sauces they served with it were all fantastic. We opted to include a side of tostada (toast) with them and that was really good to dip into those tasty sauces. For entrees we ordered a solo paella and a filet. My husband eats a lot of filets and he said this one was the most tender he ever had. My paella was also very good with loads of squid, mussels and a nice portion of a grilled whitefish. I just wish that there was more than one shrimp. It was a big shrimp, but still...another one would have been nice. Since it was mainly seafood and rice, I added a small house salad to get some veggies in. For dessert we ordered the flan which had some kind of fruity sauce on top which was heavenly. Our server was very nice and explained everything to us very well. This is a solid choice if in town for a show in the Cultural District. Close to all of the venues and the food is really well priced and delicious.

Visiting Pitt and walked into this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday. The place was packed around 1130am. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated right away at the high tops. Our service was a bit slow throughout but friendly- 40 minutes to get our food. We asked for our food once and 2 people came to us to apologize for the wait, which we appreciated. Once the food arrived, it was amazing! We got the chimchurri flight that came with toasted ciabatta. Our favorite was the red pepper and onion chimchurri. Our sandwiches were enormous and would easily be able to be a shareable entree for lunch. We also got the paella which a was flavorful. It didn't come in a paella plate which I usually expect in paellas, just on a regular plate so I wasn't able to enjoy the crusted over rice usually enjoyed for this dish. The interior is modern and clean, firewood and broiled meats can be smelled throughout the resto -- in a good way. Would come back!

Such good food. It was easy to make reservations and when we walked in, our table was ready. I ordered the Voodoo Doll and the Pink Cadillac and both were great, not too sweet, but not too strong. We also ordered the Chorizos and Camarones to start, both were great. The chorizo has a hint of heat, so if you're averse to spicy foods, I'd avoid this dish, but this was one of my favorites. The camarones came with 8 jumbo shrimp and was a solid dish. I loved my paella. The rice was so flavorful, and there was plenty of seafood. I ended up needing a to go box because the portion was massive, even for a solo. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic. Gaucho has always been a really great destination, but I hadn't previously checked out their new-ish location downtown: they're now located in what had been the old Six Penn space. In the new location, they seem to have more space and shorter lines than they did in the Strip. We ordered takeout, and the bodega box concept was both inspired and well executed. It's essentially a pizza box filled with a variety of delicious items representing the restaurant's specialties. They offer both meat and vegetarian options, and I went with the vegetarian option. It's not health food, but it was delicious. While we were at it, we also ordered a few salads and an eggplant and polenta entree. All the food was extremely well executed. This would be a great place to grab lunch or dinner with friends while you're downtown Pittsburgh. The takeout was pretty good too.

Oh wow - sad it took me so long to get here! Since it was the holidays and a slow day, decided to come for lunch on my way home. Let me sat, I loved the background music playing that particular day. (George Clinton and P-Funk, where else will you hear that?) The lunch menu itself was great - picked the roast beef sandwich (as you can see pretty tall) and side salad. The meat was well-marinated, the bread crusty and crispy. Since it was slow and just opened, got my food in minutes. This place of course, probably more appropriate for a group of people sharing plates, but my food was terrific. Look forward to coming back!

Always a great place! Grilled meats are great although I am a huge fan of the grilled veggies as well. I had to order the 'Aliens Exist' cocktail because my name was in the description... lol. Very good. Food quality is always top tier.

One of the best spots to eat downtown. Their lunch and dinner menu are both amazing. You really can't go wrong with any of their dishes. Everything is authentic and the flavors are different from anywhere else. My favorite lunch dishes are the steak burger and the braised beef. All of their meats are cooked and seasoned perfectly. They come on focaccia that is so good. Each sandwich has a different type of veggie, sauces, etc., that all blend together nicely. On top of the good food, it is a great atmosphere inside. They also have a really nice rooftop eating area.

We had such high expectations for this dinner! I've been wanting to try Gaucho since it was on the Strip. We had friends in town who are huge meat eaters and thought it would be perfect. Sadly, our meal wasn't great. It pains me to write that. First, the good....We started out on a very high note. Our server was bubbly and attentive, and our appetizer - Camarones - were juicy, tasty large shrimp. And "the chimmies" - fantastic (garlic, roasted pepper, caramelized onions, & regular - YUM. But, then it was all sort of downhill. One of my friends and I decided we would have a somewhat lighter meal, so we ordered the Argentino salad and the butternut squash risotto. The salad was pretty good - the roasted peppers, potatoes, asparagus were tasty, though the dressing didn't really pull all these elements together. But the major disappointment was the risotto. We should've sent it back, but we kept wanting to like it, and therefore sampled multiple times, but it was just not good at all. The arborio rice was not cooked well enough - it wasn't creamy at all - but the pickled greens on top w/ sliced cranberries (!!) were just awful and when paired with the *too sweet* risotto- urg. No bueno combo. Our husbands ordered a mixed grill platter. The chicken was good, but they said the steak was pretty much flavorless. Worse still, we thankfully caught at the last moment that several large hunks of the sausage we're pretty much raw in the middle. After sending it back to be cooked fully, we did enjoy the spicy flavor of that meat. For the price point, I have to say I expected so much more. And on a housekeeping note -- please please clean that nasty, dust-covered screen over the booth table near then back of the restaurant. Yuck! We all agreed we might go back to have a drink in the bar and order those tasty shrimp again, but sadly, I cannot see having another dinner. The risk is too high at that price point.

Our waiter was very good and stopped by often. Understood we were not in a hurry and food and drinks showed up in a nice pace. We shared the Provolette which was nicely baked and had a nice pear flavor and sweetness. One person had the Argentinian salad with steak and proclaimed it the best steak salad they have ever eaten. My rosemary braised beef was very tasty and the oven roasted papas caseras was very good. Always enjoy the wood fired meats and veggies. A nice place to dine.

Rooftop Season!! Amazing dinner at the incredible Argentinian restaurant Located on Sixth Street, downtown Pittsburgh. Wood Fire meats, salads & delicious sides! Had their Red Sangria, Provoletta & Rosemary Braised Beef Con Pan - everything was amazing! Bar seating, two floors of indoor seating & rooftop seating! Highly recommend making a reservation - rooftop seating is first come first serve (bc weather)! MAKE THAT RESSY!

This place kept showing up whenever I was looking for a dinner spot. I had reservations, so no wait time.The place has nice date night vibes. The staff was great and helped us decide on the steaks. We got them all except one. It was a great experience and the food was amazing. My wife loved the different sauces they had. The meats are the highlight for sure! Definitely recommend if you love some steak! Will definitely be back for some more!

Tried some take-out from this place -- and it didn't disappoint! It is quite annoying to park around this park of downtown just to pick up, but I guess it's all downtowns. As for the food: the meat and sausage platters (some with bread "con pan" some just straight up meat) are excellent, and I wouldn't have expected less from an Argentine restaurant. The portions are generous and you can definitely share most of the dishes. In fact, that's probably the best way to enjoy the meal. From what I can tell, the restaurant looks lovely inside with a pretty upscale decor. Would definitely love to dine in in the future!

Make sure to come hungry! Gaucho is always on my rotation for dinner- whether with friends or a date night with my wife - as it is always a good time! We always have great service, as well. The empanadas are my go-to appetizer. Spicy, crunchy, and savory. It's layer after layer of texture and flavor. I've been on a focaccia adventure around the city, and Gaucho's is cheesy and savory with nice pop of acidy-brine from olives - unique, yummy flavor. It's pictured... if you look close enough. The rosemary braised beef on ciabatta is divine. The tender beef with the delightful touch of rosemary makes for an incredible bite. Potatoes are packed with seasoning and are a plentiful side. I always say I'm going to try something new, but I get this every single time and am never disappointed!

Our group of 9 had a great time here and I can see why it's so popular! They make it easy to make reservations, the atmosphere is lively and fun (though a bit too loud), the service is friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is delicious! We ordered a meat platter (the one that comes with three different cuts), and a seafood platter (had fish, scallops, shrimp, etc) to share family style along with a few sides - roasted vegetales, cauliflower/broccoli gratin, some salads, and crusted bread with 4 dipping sauces. Their sangria was delicious too!! I read some reviews that said their non-meat options were limited and I was a bit concerned about that because we had one vegetarian in the group, but the highlight of our meal for most everyone was the shareable seafood platter! Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were great. We enjoyed all our veggie dishes too. The meat platter was also cooked just the way we asked - medium rare - and really good too. This is a great place in downtown Pittsburgh and we had a great time here! Great for a date, a girls (or guys) night, or large gatherings. Just come :)

We loved our dinner at Gaucho. Our server, Jacob, offered great suggestions and explanation of the menu. Our family enjoyed their burgers, steak, and empanadas. Do not skip on the papas caseras - they are melt in your mouth delicious. We finished our meal with the pretzel cake. Big enough to share and absolutely perfect. Their wine and cocktail list was well curated, as well (the voodoo doll is a must if you like spicy cocktail). We sat on the rooftop and it was a perfect summer evening. The indoor seating looked like fun, too. We'll come back again next time we visit!

Gaucho deserves all of the praise it receives from locals and tourists! The food is unbeatable. We had several appetizers, but I'd recommend the Chimmis that comes with tostadas for dipping and all four chimmi sauces. Best value appetizer, for sure! The steak is the star here, though. Perfectly cooked and intensely flavorful, you can't go wrong with any cut! I had the Lomo (Filet) but my family loved their Rib Eye and also the mixed meat platter that came with steak, chicken, and sausage. Our server was great even though we had a late reservation and ended up being there after closing, I never felt pushed out.

The decor and atmosphere was nice I would give it a five star. We were 5 people and ordered different plates and the food was simply ok. We were expecting more from an "Argentinean restaurant" since they are usually known for their meats. This place didn't feel like an authentic Argentinean it was more like a fusion. I ordered the vacio steak, which came with my meat sliced and was just ok not worth it... Overall it was nothing out of the ordinary.

My first trip back to Gaucho since their move from the strip. The quality of the food is still just as amazing but I miss some items on their own menu. However all of the meats were amazing and the provoletta was out of this world. I wish we had a little bit more options like we had in the strip for ordering.

I can totally tell why this is the most reviewed restaurant in Pittsburgh. I don't eat steak, but I enjoyed many appetizers like a tapas style with red sangria. The sangria was yummy and all the appetizers were amazing. The shrimp and sausage really stood out. Service and attention was incredible! This is also a really close spot to the Steelers stadium for pre-game dinner and drinks!

The shrimp and chorizo are soooo good, had many times , and the sauces are amazing, get time !

Best variety of meats in the Pittsburgh region. I started going there when they were in the Strip and continue to this day.

I can not say enough great things about Gaucho Parrilla Argentina. We had a group of 10, and they were able to flawlessly accommodate our table to fit the eleven of us who arrived. So professional and welcoming. From drinks at the bar all the way to our seating. The ambiance is fantastic. But then there was the food, and all 11 of us could not stop saying how flawless the different steak cuts were. The grilled vegetables. The empanadas. The fugazza. Humita. And then we had bottles of malbec wine. From before we started calling for the reservation, it was fantastic. All the way to the last minute we spent there. Poncho, our server, was top class.

This restaurant is worth the hype! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and were impressed by the quick service and delicious food. I highly recommend the provoletta appetizer!

This place is awesome! We walked in and they were able to fit us. There were no available reservations for at least one week. Thank goodness it was only two of us and we were able to find a table. We did go around 2 PM which is low pick hours. Either way this place is tasty. We started with a picture of sangria, which was perfectly made with the right amount of sweetness! We start with empanadas, which were not greasy, even though they were fried, and had a very good flavor. I ordered the salad with the shredded beef, this came with a lot of toppings, including grilled onions, roasted corn, grilled asparagus and avocado, which was a nice blend. The chimichurri was also very well-made. My husband really liked his churrasco dish. The toast was a good side and so was the salad. We finished with flan for dessert. This came with a topping of caramelized almond slices. It was decadent! I highly recommend if you are in the Pittsburgh area to come here as well as make a reservation ahead of time. The restaurant is very big, however, it serves as a lot of people with a large kitchen and great staff. The service was definitely on point.

I've been to Gaucho a few times now, but always impromptu visits with friends where we sat in the bar area. Tonight we had a proper pre-theater dinner reservation so I feel qualified to give the spot a real review. First, make sure to make a reservation if you are coming on a busy evening. This spot is busy, especially if there are shows, etc. going on in the Cultural District. The ambience is cool, eclectic and welcoming. There are two floors, with the downstairs having the bar and being a bit more bustling while upstairs, though still packed on a busy evening, felt a little more chill. I'm a vegetarian and there are so many options for me here, which you might not expect if what you've heard about this place centers mostly around the Argentinian meat-based dishes. There are plenty of those and others in my party were very happy with the steak and pork dishes they ordered. Lots of fish dishes among the specials this evening. Our server, Daniel, wasn't afraid to make enthusiastic recommendations and mentioned that the vegetarian entrée featuring charred eggplant was one of his favorite things on the menu. I have previously had salads here and a couple of side items, so was excited to try a real, full plate vegetarian entrée. It did not disappoint, with the charred eggplant giving way to a tender center. It was surrounded by thoughtfully presented mushrooms, onions, beets and carrots, and on a layered bed of potatoes and grains. A really hearty and satisfying vegetarian dish. There are tons more vegetarian options marked throughout the menu as well, including the aforementioned salads and roasted vegetables on crusty Mediterra ciabatta bread. I added on a side of Brussels sprouts tonight because I haven't previously had them here, and they were done exactly as I want restaurant Brussels to be done, crispy, almost candied in a balsamic glaze, a little bit of Parmesan. Perfection. For dessert we ordered a couple of things to share among the table. The chocolate torta was a surprise, not at all heavy and dense as you might expect but layered in a way that made it light and sweet with a perfect side of homemade whipped cream. We also got a flan that to the best of my recollection had roasted apples and pears, and that might have been the biggest hit. For a drink I had a nonalcoholic rose fizz with citrus and soda that was both pretty and delicious, everything I want in a mocktail. They had several on the menu and as I am more into N/A options these days, I wanted to call this out as I appreciate restaurants that are doing it regularly and not as a dry January thing. First-rate meal with first-rate service. This is going to be in our regular rotation.

My family and I visited this place as we were touring downtown Pittsburgh and had a plan of trying different foods outside of our comfort zone back in California. We came across this Argentinian place and their paella immediately stood out to me so we had to order the shareable plate. I definitely enjoyed it the most out of all our orders as I love seafood and their seasoning was perfect. Although I was shocked at how small the meat of the mussels and clams were compared to when I go out to eat seafood boil. We also ordered the 16oz ribeye and roasted papas which paired with each other really well. The ribeye was super juicy and meaty so props to how they cooked it. The potatoes were soft and slightly seasoned which I preferred since everything else had a savory taste to it. We also ordered the quiqui wings for appetizers which had a great grilled taste to it. The el gaucho salad was also delicious addition to the meal.

Nice spot! Very busy! I do recommend to do a reservation if you are wanna go there on a weekend or Thursday - Friday night. Happy hour is amazing - 50% off all appetizers!!

Excellent service Pedro was awesome, made great recommendations. We were visiting on a business trip. We shared a steak platter (four of us) and added a chicken. A couple of sides and appetizer. Plenty of great tasting food. I highly recommend trying this place when visiting the area.

I was in love with this place when it was originally located in the strip district and I now love it today just as much at the new location! a great happy hour followed by great meats! a cool downtown ambience with good service! if you're a meat eater - this is your place! they got the meats!

Delicious food, awesome atmosphere, great rooftop area! Service was friendly and attentive. Cocktails were great.

Made a reservation a week in advance and glad that I did because it was packed. The place felt expensive, the service was nice, and the food came out quickly after ordering. The steak and bread had a nice grilled taste but it was very one note. The potatoes were also quite plain. The chimichurri and spicy sauce for potatoes carried the meal.

Let me begin by saying this is a singular experience. I don't live in Pittsburgh so I won't get a chance any time soon to give them another chance to see if the experience might be different. But on a Saturday night we were put on the wait-list (I recommend reservations) and told it would be an hour wait. We were happy to find it was only a half hour before we were called. From there it was mostly downhill. We were met with a young waiter who kindly and politely explained the menu. He took our drink menu and was back 5 minutes later with the drinks (Dr. Pepper and cokes). We didn't see him for another 15 minutes. We finally sought him out to ask if he could take our order. He did and we ordered the empanadas, steak, a steak sandwich, a veggie sandwich, and a chicken entree. The empanadas came out about 7 minutes later and were the best part of the dinner. Absolutely outstanding!!! By this time we had drained our drinks and our waiter was all over but had not checked on us in a long while. At the half hour mark or so we left our table and tracked him down to ask if we could have drink refills and where the entrees status was. He was polite and said he'd get the drinks right away and check on the dinner. He brought back the refills fairly quickly and stated it shouldn't be much longer on the entrees. We then watched 4 tables that came in after us get served their dinner with no sight of ours. At the 45 minute mark we talked him down again and asked again the eta and he checked, again politely and told us our order was up next and wouldn't be more than 5 minutes. He offered free toast as an apology which we took and appreciated. The toast isn't great. Don't recommend. But appreciated the effort. 15 minutes later we asked for the manager and explained the night. She checked again with the kitchen and were told they have been baked up and the steak entrees take much longer which is why other tables got served before ours. The waiter returned to tell us he was able to get our tickets reduced by 20%. Again much appreciated. The chicken and steak sandwich dishes were excellent. The veggie sandwich dish was very good but nothing special. The steak entree was also very good but nothing special. We tracked our waiter down again to ask for another set of drink refills. He again obliged quickly and politely. We then waited another ten minutes after everyone had finished their last bite hoping he would check on us so we could get our check. Nope. Had to waive him down again to tell him we wanted the check. We had told him at the very beginning that we wanted separate checks. He forgot. He brought over check and we reminded him it was supposed to be separate and his nice facade began to crack. It was clear by his facial expression he didn't want to be bothered to fix his error but he took them back. Brought us the separate checks which had the cost of the bread he offered us for free added in. We pointed that out and he was visibly upset by this time. We watched him head over to the register area and slam the receipts on the bar. He brought them back corrected finally. I don't blame the waiter for the kitchen issues but clearly this place was maybe a bit understaffed and certainly has not trained their staff well. No one should have to wait over an hour for their food anywhere and a waiter should probably be more diligent rather than less in checking in on their tables if they are waiting longer than usual for drinks and/or entrees. Regardless of the nice ambiance and the decent fair I would never go back to this place just based on this one experience. We were polite every single time we asked about the status of our dishes or the check or drinks. We didn't scold or demand. We just asked after a more than reasonable period of time for help. I can't recommend this place just based on this one experience. You might have a different experience on a different day with different staff.

My friends and I came here and we three split the Camarones (10/10 recommended by the waitress over the empanadas!), the side veggies (9/10 oily but a lot of flavor) and the bife de chorizo (8/10 more fatty than I'd like and the smashed potatoes could've been crispier and have more flavor!) I also wish it came with more than just 1 piece of bread. Good food overall!

Beef empanadas 10/10. Special croquetas were very crispy and yummy. Steak was fire, I would say slightly overcooked for being medium rare tho. Service pretty good but kinda slow, we waited kind of a while for our food. Overall a great experience though!

Food was good but service was poor. The restaurant is in downtown down the street from my hotel Fairmont, just a 5 minute walk. I'm from Argentina I was expecting a totally different atmosphere more of an Argentine restaurant that's not what you get. Rude hostess (didn't even greet me I was dining alone) told me I would have to eat at the bar they didn't do tables for 1. I sat at the bar bartender didn't make eye contact or take my order for over 20 minutes I was about to get up and go back to my hotel and order room service. Order dessert to go no utensils in my bag. Just not a restaurant I would ever recommend or when I return to Pittsburgh would come back to.

Gaucho used to be a standout in the Strip District, Unfortunately, our recent visit was a far cry from the high standards we once enjoyed. We ordered the entreé steak, a $50 disappointment. The steak was overcooked to the point of being burnt, and the 'home fries' were more than dry, charred potatoes. The sandwiches, also fell short. They lacked the flavor and care we remembered. It was particularly disheartening as we had recommended Gaucho to a friend, and this was their first experience dining here. I regret steering them towards a meal that was far from the enjoyable experience we had anticipated. Overall, Gaucho's current offerings don't justify the cost. There are better options nearby for those seeking a satisfying steak dinner.

We are a foodie traveller family and we all agree Gaucho is THE favourite family steak place We came to Pittsburgh from Toronto for the Easter long weekend and Gaucho was in our list of places we had to go again! It had been a while since the last time and we can confirm the quality hasn't changed a bit! The food is tasty and cooked to perfection, the service is undoubtedly top notch and today we were lucky to have Rafael serving our table and he went above and beyond to make our experience at Gaucho really memorable and special. The music kept us singing and dancing in our sits while we enjoyed one of our nicest family dinner. Make sure you save some space for dessert and you may want to ask for a table served by Rafael.

The aroma of grilled meats drew us in! The steak sandwich with roasted peppers and onions on unbelievable good bread ... and don't forget the chimichurri... was outstanding! Our server Maurice was great! Lots to try... will go again for sure!

Phenomenal food. Very generous portions. Extremely knowledgeable staff that provided amazing service. The vibe of the restaurant is really good as well.

This restaurant is AMAZING!!! Definitely the highlight of our week long trip in Pittsburgh. This place is a must do. The vibe, service and food are outstanding!!! I wanted to drink the sauces they were so good!!

Me and a girlfriend came here to celebrate and didn't have a reservation on a Tuesday night but were able to snag a table within 5-10 mins. Very cool place, you can smell the smoke from them grilling their meats which made me so hungry. Our server was so cute and helpful. We ordered a Malbec, and I got the steak and asked to some sauce to dip my potatoes in and the server recommended a few. I ended up picking two that were delicious! The only thing I would say is I would've liked if the server would've told me the cost or that there was an up charge for the sauce. They came in 2oz ramekins but ended up being 2$ EACH. I was like Whoah, that would've been nice to know but oh well I took them with me and my leftovers which were still good the next day. But overall it was a cool atmosphere and good food.

As an Argentinian, the food is an embarrassment. Nothing that this place serves tastes like home! We paid 99$ for a small portion of steak, it's called "parrillada mixta," the chorizo was not good and it did not taste good.

I visited on a Saturday for lunch by myself. The restaurant was full, though I had I had a reservation. I did book my reservation the night before and there were only three available reservations left, even for a table of one so make sure you get your reservations earlier especially if you have a group. I had been wanting to try guacho for about three years but was never able to get a reservation/table as a walk in so glad I was finally able to try it. I ordered the carne with the salad and the sangria the sangria was not good and I would not recommend at all. It tasted like a simple red wine and there was an orange slice on the glass but no other fruits/flavors, though it might be different if I ordered the pitcher. The waiter brought me out the aliens exist drink and it was great, though at $16 for not a lot of drink (think huge ice cube) is pretty expensive. The carne sandwich was good. The meat was perfectly flavored and perfectly cooked in ciabatta bread that was the perfect combination of crunchy and soft. The salad was mediocre at best though I'm sure no one visits for the salad. My waiter was great, even though he was busy he was still available to answer questions and brought me a different drink when I didn't like the sangria. I live out of town, so not sure I would stop by again if I were back in the city but was definitely a good stop and glad I could finally try guacho after wanting to try it for the last couple of years.
