Acclaimed Sushi Chef Is Opening Inside Gaviidae Common - Eater Twin Cities

"The Bibuta food truck will open its first year round location some time this fall on the skyway level of Gaviidae Commons in downtown Minneapolis." - Joy Summers

Went here midday on a Saturday and expected to be able to find something to look at or eat. The only thing open was Walgreens and the skyway walkways were blocked off or closed. It was so confusing because it was during regular hours on a weekend, and there was no holiday.

NO restrooms. Anywhere that I could find, even in the cafes/venues. When I politely asked a security guard if there were any (after he took his heaphones off to answer my inconvenient question) his reply was rude, abrupt, and condescending. ... Nothing like serving your country honorably for 10 years to get treated like riffraff by some kid with a badge and a radio. Seems to be the popular thing in Minnesota these days... I can't wait to leave this state amd never return. Def won't be spending any more money at Gaviidae, that's for sure.

I actually went to the YMCA At Gavidae and not sure I liked it. Didn't get much time there though, thought they were open until 9pm like the other branches, only to find they close at 8pm, so only worked out for about 25 minutes, didn't get a chance to use the pool or other facilities. Everything is on a different level, it's kinda strange. 💜💜💜

Mini shopping center downtown Minneapolis. Mostly just a place to walk around on the skywalk taking you to the Wells Fargo Center, RBC Plaza, IFS Center, and City Center. Again not much happening other than Walgreens. Was one of my favorite shopping spots years ago.

Google
Poor lighting throughout, the 1st floor feels like a haunted house. The positive is that it's narrow so fast to walk though from City Center to WF building

Walgreens is excellent; great staff and maintenance. The mall could use some more energy; for now, it does a great job.

Gaviidae Common looks absolutely beautiful this Christmas season! The holiday decorations and music create such a warm and festive atmosphere. It’s a great spot to visit, shop, or just soak in the holiday spirit. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in downtown Minneapolis!

Parked our car for about 90 minutes while visiting City Center. Their parking rate was $35 for those 90 minutes! Call me crazy, but that's A LOT for a mere hour and a half. I would suggest finding somewhere else to park your car in downtown Minneapolis. Security officer wasn't very helpful either. The building also doesn't seem well maintained.

Yelp
The location is good. The inside is good. The shops are good. The variety is good. The ambiance is good. I like going here for something to eat and to walk around. Both are good for in this common grounds mall, or something like that. There are quite a few stories of things to do and places to shop. Sometimes, I walk out of there after having buying something other than food just because it looks so cool. Some of the things in the shop are fascinating and sometimes represent Minnesota and/ or Minneapolis. This is different than the average mall. This reminds me more of a food court in a typical mall, just with more food places and more stores that aren't related to food. The place is hard to get to and sometimes inconvenient. That's Nicollet Ave.'s fault. I can look beyond that when considering whether to go there. This is great for when I have the day off, especially in the day time. The people are great. They're pleasant to talk to. The merchandise and the food in most of the stores are great. I can buy almost anything from there and be satisfied. I'll be back, especially on a day off of work on a weekday.

Yelp
Another sad almost deserted space with a few stores and offices here and there. It's too bad, because the space is really nice. Water fountains, whimsical food court area with the fair theme and some bathrooms that are Suprisingly clean. The only time I really go through Gavidae is to cut through to the other skyways. I'll have to add this to the list of other places that used to be. Town Square, City Center, Block E. I think I read that they were going to give it a facelift. Really?

Yelp
I don't work downtown, so I'm not a skyway rat. I invariably get lost every time I wander around the 2nd floor commercial maze that defines Minneapolis. So it always feels good when I stumble back to the familiar Gaviidae Common. I don't shop here often (but I do stop into Off 5th every now and again), but it's a peaceful oasis in the middle of the hubbub. If I need to get some work done, a cafe in this building does the trick. There's space, and there's no rush--along with plenty of free wifi. And I kind of like how the gilded architecture makes me feel special.

Yelp
PARKING GARAGE: Visiting Minneapolis this weekend, this was a good place to park when staying at The Westin across the street. Much cheaper than The Westin valet! Heated garage was nice, easy to use the machines to pay and no issues here. I would park here again if I was staying nearby.

Yelp
Both Gavidee Commons I & II are magnificent shopping complexes with a nice mix of retailers. Beautiful architecture inside & outside. Great ambience, it makes a person want to browse the stores and spend money. It happens to me everytime I'm in Minneapolis. More cities need to invest in shopping complexes like this for their downtowns.

Yelp
I do like wandering around the Common. They got some unique but highly overpriced stores. A few restaurants and salons. I love the see through elevators and the waterfalls. Very nice. During lunch its all hustle and bustle. Good for a little walk on your lunch hour.
