Google
It was fun and divey, and everyone here was having a good time. My coworker from Minnesota recommended that I check this place out with my girlfriend, so we did. I don’t know what I expected, but coming from New York I was admittedly blown away by the size of this place. It’s got massive strip club vibes, and there were definitely a lot of straight people for better or worse.

Google
They have a signature smell every time you walk in there and they serve you poison for drinks depending on what you look like. Restroom 🚻 floors always wet. Riding the donkey and the karaoke area that actually has air is all right it's big different DJs That's nice other than that NO.There's other places to have a good time it's okay if you thirsty and you don't have nowhere to go other than that it's not all that.

Sarah Huntley

Google
It’s been Long time since I have been to the 90’s. The crowd was young and fun! Bartenders were friendly, karaoke was cute and no cover if you go in before 9 for karaoke. The cages are fun to dance in. Music was on point in every room. No drama …security was present but fine.

I have been here a few times and each time I have noticed the staff is very unprofessional and loves to assume things that are not happening. For instance, on night a security woman kicked my friend and I out for “doing drugs” in the bathroom when that was not true whatsoever. Another time, the woman who was patting people down to enter kicked my friend out for “clear signs of intoxication” due to her shoe being untied? Make it make sense? The bathrooms are genuinely filthy, and they love punishing girls over the creepy, weird, stinky men who are causing actual harm. I will not be going back. This “club” is a disgrace to club culture and the employees are horrible at their job. I recommend you find a different club to enjoy during your weekends, even if Gay 90’s is your only option.

Last Friday my 19 year-old cousin went to the 90's for her very first time! She was super excited up until she met the host of the drag show, which I believe was Omerta. The host came up to her and asked if she was "the Christian" and was grilling her about her faith unwarranted. My cousin had told her that she does not have any bad feelings towards the community she only cares that you are happy and healthy yet the host continued seemingly trying to pick a fight. The host even went as far as to go around saying "did you see me bash the Christian?" This behavior is disgusting. As a member of the community, I understand the weariness of religion/religious people. But that behavior was completely unacceptable. My cousin is one of the most kind-hearted & accepting people - a TRUE Christian. And to see a community so often prosecuted in turn prosecute others is disappointing.

Google
I have tried to come support your business and support a friend that works there several times, and each time you take my money, let me buy a drink and ask me to leave. I was there for an incident involving poor behavior from an employee years ago and was appalled at the way he treated me and my group. Being older I simply expressed my disgust and now I'm treated even worse by your staff and security. We have always supported the 90s and the drag community, unfortunately we have never seen a company be so disrespectful to paying patrons that just want to spend money and support the queens.

Google
This place is very fun but it needs to pay attention to more people who have heart conditions. My friend and I were going to every bar there even though their bars were closed because my friend was about to pass out because she has POTS and we were frantically asking for water before she passed out. They wouldn’t even listen to us even when my friend held up the water sign with her fingers to let them know she needed water. Had to get security involved, he even talked to one of the bartenders there and the bartender wouldn’t even help. The security guy had to get a water bottle himself to give to her. Moral of the story, BARTENDERS NEED TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO PEOPLE WITH HEART CONDITIONS. Do better plz.

Google
It's a shame that you have to be frisked like you're entering a maximum security prison before entering this "establishment". The person doing security literally unzipped my jacket and stuck her hands inside my coat? The door people have terrible attitudes and treat people with disregard and are generally unkind. Will never be back.

Yelp
Good lord. Not sure what I was expecting for an 18+ club but this was somehow exactly it. Super crowded up front, even though there's a ton of rooms in the back if you keep walking. Music gets deafening. Bodies and sweat everywhere. I was ready to leave 10 min in. Drinks are interestingly priced. I thought it was pretty reasonable but I realized I had no idea how they calculate them. 2 green tea shots for $24. A midori sour was just $7. I believed it because I'm not asking for any more detail when I can feel the music pingponging my brain around and I'm unfortunately part of a jostling crowd all trying to get drinks. I was reading some pretty negative stuff about the bouncers, but that wasn't the case for us. They were pretty stoic, but I didn't see anyone forcibly removed. Some of our crowd was under 21, which was why we elected to go here in first place. Would maybe return for a show, but not for fun. If you're over the age of 21 with a more developed frontal lobe, just go to a regular bar.

Yelp
FUN DRAG SHOW! The performers were beautiful and kept the show exciting. We came in at about 10pm on a Saturday night and had a blast! There are so many different rooms and multiple bar areas to explore. There are even three different dance floors, some with cages for you to dance inside of. Drinks are expensive, small and mostly ice. So I only had one. But my server was super nice and had these huge muscles so I didn't mind too much. Decor looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90's but if it keeps the entrance fee lower, it's good enough for me. On Saturday, entrance fees were: $10 for 21+ $20 for 18-20 year olds Pro Tips: 1. Bring CASH. They do take credit cards, but the entry can be so much faster if you pay with cash . It's also nice if you have $1 bills to tip the performers. At the entrance, stay in the far right lane with cash in hand if you want to get in quickly. 2. Park in a ramp/lot, not on the street. Many of the nearby street parking spots become no parking zones at midnight. But that's when the party is starting to get good, so just park in the ramp. C Ramp is just 2 blocks away. If you're looking for some weekend fun, give this place a try.

Yelp
We were visiting for a conference and after dinner we wanted a different place for dessert and when walking past this place, we decided to stop in to have a drink. The vibes were weird from the beginning. The security grump, I mean guard, was rude and obviously bothered by us wanting to come in. We entered anyway and sat down at the bar. We were greeted by the bartender and the awkwardness just continued. Maybe because we weren't local or maybe just because but we were definitely not very welcomed and as much as we wanted to enjoy ourselves, we left before finishing our drink. Quite a disappointment Minneapolis.

Cole B.

Yelp
Allowing minors in allows conflicts between bar staff/patron and patron/patron. High prices and decent ambience don't make up for the stress of a crowd that insists on creating problems.
google avatar

Yelp
My best friend and I stumbled upon this place when we were debating on how to spend our night out in Minneapolis. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly. When we got inside, we saw how it moved so quickly. The place is huge. Soon as we came in you're at the bar and a dance area. But we also peeped the flow of traffic migrating upstairs. So we followed the flow of traffic upstairs. That's where we found the drag show. Honey it was wonderful!!!!! We were treated to veteran artists who'd performed all over the country and on RuPaul's Drag Race and we even saw the newbies that were just starting out. It was a real treat! When I'm in the area, I will be back!! This place comes highly recommended.
google avatar

Linnea T.

Yelp
I would highly not recommend this bar for 21+ people. Because the bar is 18+, it is a very chaotic environment with drinks being thrown and people running. The DJ also seemed to have a set to please a younger crowed. However, if you enjoy drag shows there is a quieter stage upstairs. The cover is $10 for 21+ and a small mixed drink with ice was $18.
google avatar

Kurt S.

Yelp
Oh boy! Was this a fun place! When my buddy and I were in the area for a Vikings game, we went here the night before and had a blast. The music was pumping. The drinks were flowing. The horrible dance moves were-a rockin'! We both got in one of the cages and on the front stage and danced the night away. The cover was $10, which wasn't bad. The drinks were priced right but were small and mostly ice. Everyone we met was super nice. I think he and I would definitely go back to this place again.

Yelp
The gay 90s is such a fun time! Parking can be difficult in the area, but there are some parking garages and it's right by the light rail. It's massive, with probably 7 or more different rooms that have different vibes. As we were walking around with kept entering different areas, like how big is this place? The decor is really fun, and again, different in every room. They have a coat, and a pretty thorough entry process. It's kind of a lot, but I appreciate it for safety reasons. The drinks are pretty cheap, $6! And the bartenders were really nice. Upstairs, there was a drag show going on, which lasted four hours! I couldn't believe it was from 10 to 2am. They have an ATM and the bartender near there was prepared to give change in the form of singles, which we really appreciated. The place was packed and we had a lot of fun!! I would say there's some thing for everyone in each room-- drag shows, a smaller bright room with stripper poles, a karaoke room, a chill game room with pool etc, a massive dark dance room, a third dancing area with different music than the others, some food to order, and a bar upstairs to sit by. They have a lot of 18+ nights and literally something going on every night of the week it seems like. I used to go a lot when I was 18 and just moved to the city, and it was a trip to be back and now that I'm 28. It's not somewhere I would be going every weekend now, but if I lived in the cities, I would definitely continue to go!

Yelp
Despite being in the Twin Cities for 13 years I only came here for the first time last weekend to celebrate a friends birthday. I was way more impressed than I thought I'd be. The line to get in was a little annoying but once you're in it's a blast. The place is divided into themed rooms including an "arcade" room, a pop room, a dance/EDM room, and the drag show upstairs, there's another room that I didn't get a chance to visit but I plan to see what the theme is next time I go back! There is a cover fee which is a little annoying, especially given the price of their drinks (a little high for the type of bar this feels like.) but I feel like the fun atmosphere makes up for it.

Jordan K.

Yelp
well-priced drinks but the experience is not worth the stress. bouncers kicked out for a patron not ID-ing the strangers near him. the onus of verifying age is not on a patron :(

Gordon R.

Yelp
Huge but rundown. Rude security and very aggressive. Screamed at me for talking to someone over the fence on the smoking patio. I got sexually harassed by a drag performer when they weren't performing.

Japhy H.

Yelp
Great environment and service. Had a blast all night long with lot of different rooms to explore and things to do

Jazzie J.

Yelp
I LOVE this place until my Weds night. The bartender was not giving me my correct change back from my drinks I was ordering. I order 2 Corona's and got $2 change back. Order 2 more beers but they were Bud lights and got charged the same $2 change back. I then went down stairs and order 2 more beers and got $4 change back. So the bartender was keeping $2 for himself. I NEVER got this kind of service at the 90's and I spent and tipped a lot that night. This makes me want to NEVER order drinks when I come to visit and someone needs to look into this because dishonesty it's a good look for any business. I hope it wasn't because I was a black person or if he just do this too everyone to have money at the end of the night.

Bobby Y.

Yelp
It a fun place to party with nice people. And it's not a club for only LGBTQ community it includes everyone. It also has different levels with different kinds of preference.

Lawrence G.

Yelp
So last night me and my friend went out to 90 last night to see what's it like now in there , they were having a event so me and my friend stepped to bar and get a drink. so we chatted and I laughed security walks up and tells me to shut up I asked him his name he refused to give it to well to that security guard the constitution states I am allowed to speak and laugh when and were I want . The proper way to approach a customer is excuse me can you hold your laugh and down or conversation down I would have gladly done that not tell anyone to shut up.

Yelp
Been here twice now, both times within the past month. The drag shows are extremely upbeat and energetic, very entertaining. The bartender is always very busy and still somehow manages to be speedy quick to make everyone's drinks! super friendly staff and all around a positive atmosphere. Love the Gay 90's

Alyssa K.

Yelp
went to this bar with my friends. both under 21 and they allow this. my friend was assaulted by the security guard who threw her out. did not give her a reason. was not drinking. she was sitting down with other friends talking and watching the drag show. he got in her face and dragged her down the stairs and then was grabbed so hard that there was a physical hand print on her arm. do not go here, that's all i have to say. if i could give this zero stars, i would.

Nessa S.

Yelp
Had an amazing time at the gay 90's. Halloween especially. Though for Minnesota being one of the kindest states in the US there sure wasn't many kind people.

Calliope D.

Yelp
Went with some friends. One of them lost their phone. Staff was useless. Someone in our group got kicked out for making out- when a few years ago people could hook up in bathrooms and no one would GAF. Security was on a power trip, yelled at them to "leave immediately"- no warning, didnt check to see if they had a ride home, or anyone there with them to make sure they were safe or anything. Horrible horrible experience. It was their first night out after turning 21. Drag shows are usually great, drinks are spendy. I really want to love the 90's- the layout is amazing with how many different areas there are to hang out in, but the more i hear about how horrible security and management is... i wont be returning.

Yelp
This is a review for the hot dogs. When crafting an opinion on an establishment of the night, one must leave certain expectations at the door. My bar for such a hot dog is a strip club. You order your hot dogs right by the entrance which provides a nice breeze of fresh air. The attendant was polite and quick. The hot dogs themselves are a solid 8". Warm, not hot and the bun had a nice slightly stale crunch as Im guessing they were letting the buns bags breathe a bit. 4 bites later it was in my stomach. A decent dog for an establishment of the night
google avatar

Roxy S.

Yelp
Started off the night when I forgot my ID, and the bouncer said i could pay $20 to get in anyways. I found out later that they always let underaged people in if they slip the bouncers some cash. Staff was extremely rude. The drag show was great and produced very well. This place is a maze and very easy to get separated from your friends. For a gay bar, there are TONS of straight men and the vibe is extremely predatory. My friends and I spent the entire night being groped and grinded on. I have never in my life had to physically shove and elbow men away from me. An employee harassed my friend and a girl she was dancing with. The most unsafe and on edge I have ever felt in a bar. Absolutely not a safe space for gay women. Maybe for men and straight girls.
google avatar

Kara D.

Yelp
I bring most of my out-of-town friends to Gay 90s because I befriend people who like fun. There are like 6 different bars within this 1 bar. One time a brought a few of my pals here and we had such a hoot, that they thought we were bar hopping all night but I was like "no, sweet angels, you were just at Gay 90s all dang night." There's versatile dance floors, a room with a huge animatronic penis, a few stages, a big drag stage, photo booths, several floors where you can have a gay ol' time. Foam parties, drag shows, underwear parties, you name it! I mostly come for their drag shows, which are every Thursday - Sunday from 10pm to close. Incredible talent and lineup! I stay for the dancing while not getting hit on by meathead dudes. Usually $5 cover if you're 21+. I think it's $15 if you're 18+. Speaking of which, 18+ nights (third weekend of the month) are nightmare nights with long lines of large human babies. And the bathrooms are terrible. But it's all really worth it.

Dylann J.

Yelp
Dear Bouncer- you were right. Thank you for kindly not letting me in I was definitely a liability and you're good at your job. I really appreciate you.
google avatar

Lincoln T.

Yelp
What a dump. Ya know, back in the day the 90s had a vibe. It was creepy and skanky and cool...but it was a dump. So then, they started male stripper nights. Only, the male strippers were straight. So all of the straight women (bachelorette, wedding, and even baby parties) came...and where the drunk, horny, straight women went, so did the straight males. And overnight, the 90s became a straight bar, where people came to ogle at the drag queens. Fine and dandy. The bar has done little to innovate or change, and it's the same dinginess that has pervaded the 90s until today. The only thing they've done is added yellow-shirted security with headsets, like at Target or Walmart. The place still attracts the same level of trash--especially at night--so that's that, but you would think even for a straight bar that features a drag show, there would be some level of graciousness. Not so. This place is a sad trash dump of broken people and crappy stage shows. There's nothing to see here, and when I went to grab a drink and a show, I ended up sobbing in my (watered down) drink...there was just nothing enticing about this crapfest except the proximity to the light rail to take me home. [Well, I can't drive after a few, so don't judge.] Just avoid at all costs. Worst part: the "security" who really do have to put up with straight-up trash that wanders in there...but doesn't know the difference between a veteran of that bar and garbage. Too much manpower for a place that has less than 20 patrons.

Cecilia P.

Yelp
Bouncer was rude and condescending and also perhaps a predator. Made me open my coin purse in case I was hiding a "bottle in there." This is all fine and I see he's just doing his job quite thoroughly but this is where the thoroughness stopped because when he pat me down he only touched my crotch and no other part of my body. At any other club or even airport I've been to, I've never been patted down this way and it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. The security staff should be overhauled as the security inside wasn't much better (saw a bouncer making out with a girl in the bathroom). This place sucks and is not a safe place.

Yelp
I've been to gay 90's three times now and have had fun every time I've been there! I went for zombie pub crawl this past weekend and was super impressed with the decorations that the staff did to make everything look Halloween-ey and fun :) I love coming to gay 90's because of the atmosphere - there are multiple floors with plenty of different stages and dance floors so you can switch around the building as your mood changes throughout the night! People are so welcoming and nice that you can really break it down without feeling self conscious or worried about creepers being around. The performers here are also great and actually look like they are enjoying themselves which makes such a world of difference in the vibe of the crowd! This place is definitely a must visit for anyone that comes to the twin cities :)

Angel M.

Yelp
This bar has great energy and the music is a hit or miss depending on the DJ's. My friends and I were visiting for the weekend and this was the only bar/club we attended. However, drinks were a bit expensive, at least more than we expected. There's five rooms in this club and each had their own theme/vibe, which was nice! Overall, I would give it an 8/10.

Bb M.

Yelp
One of the female security guards thought it would be funny to grab my chest while going through the security . i found it to be absolutely humiliating and completely inappropriate. The music here is bad and the club is overrun by 18-20 year olds. great place to go if You enjoy overpriced drinks and being sexually harassed !
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
We went here with a few couples to try this place out. We heard that it was a fun place and if you are open-minded, a good time can be had! I took many photos but i was here over a year ago but we all had a blast. They prefer cash because it is faster and doesn't slow down service during the shows. It is an interesting building with friendly staff, some interesting ones, to have a good night out with friends. Have an open mind and try to have some fun! We went and had a blast! I suggest to get there early to get a good parking spot, their small parking lot gets full quickly. The entertainers are fun too. Try it out.

Pee N.

Yelp
I haven't been to the 90s for a few years. Pretty disgusting. I don't think the owner puts amy money into it, especially the bathrooms. Also the drag show was super stale. I didn't find it entertaining at all. They need some new entertainers that don't mail it in.
google avatar

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! My friends and I go here every now and them, sadly not as much as we should. Our friend Rosie Bottoms performs and when she does I am down to go and support her! Now that I said that, people are probably going to think that is why I gave it a 5, but honestly that isn't the reason, that is an extra bonus! This place is legendary! Seriously, my mom told me once she used to come here when she was younger. If you knew my mom, you would know that means it's been around a long time! It is a staple in the Community, and a tourist place for people from all over! It is very welcoming, and fun! There are multiple rooms inside and if you don't want to be in one go to another. There is a Retro Room, the Main Stage for ladies of La Femme. There is the downstairs stage, and a karaoke type room where they do host karaoke. There is another room where foam parties do happen. I know there are probably many more rooms that I don't know about, but either way I love this place! The place is always entertaining to me. I love people watching, definitely the best place. I really would recommend this place to people. It is very open, friendly, and welcoming to everyone. Don't be so quick to judge others when they are welcoming of you.

Mariah S.

Yelp
It was fun..... until I was roofied by a bartender. My wallet was cut from me and my friends found me outside. What's worse is my girlfriends who I was with are off duty nurses spoke with the police because I was unconscious..... the police told them that it is a constant problem here and they had arrested someone the previous night who was caught putting stuff in girls drinks. There is currently an open police investigation and I have been trying for months to get in touch with management to see if they possibly found my drivers license and possibly what ever else was left and management won't respond. They leave me on read on Facebook messenger so it's not like I can't see them looking at it. I wouldn't recommend going here at all especially with management being so unprofessional and the luck of concern and respect for patrons.

Yelp
Going to lead my review with food first. Yes Gay 90s has food! I ate drag queen food, a salad. It was good. It had chicken and Caesar dressing. Lovely. My friend had onion rings. Ate them all. Our server was super attentive and sweet. If you eat dinner there you get a reserved front row ticket for the drag show. We didn't realize there was a boy's show from 9:15 to 10:15 and then a ladies show from 1015 till 2 AM. So when we get there at about 10 all the tables were taken. I asked security to help and she booted (respectfully, there was a sign on the table after all) the people out of our table. Front row table to the drag queens! They were amazing and fun! The crowd is about 90% heterosexual women. There was a person there to give you change so you can tip your drag queens a dollar if you wish. The waiters came by often. We left the drag queens to do some dancing in one of the many dance bars . And I got a great picture of me on the giant penis. The coat check lady was very friendly and efficient. The parking ramp lot next-door was very convenient if a little spendy. The downstairs bathrooms seemed newly remodeled and beautiful. Well done Guy 90s!
google avatar

Kei C.

Yelp
This probably the best gay club I've ever been to! Like everything in one setting Drink were great The crowd was phenomenal The drag show was like being in RuPaul drag race Overall excellent

Jessica P.

Yelp
I have come to Gay 90's twice and it has been FANTASTIC every time! They accept both cash and card!
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
I come here with friends every once in a blue moon and it's one of those spots in the Twin Cities that you have to go to at least one time to say you've been. It is 18+ Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sundays. Also, every 3rd full weekend of the month. For 21+, cover is always $5. For the teeny boppers out there, cover is $5 or $10 depending on the night. I'll give you the highlights of the Gay 90's in a few words: giant penis that every drunk girl loves to take pictures on, strong drinks, plenty of different party rooms to dance, and an entertaining/vibrant drag show upstairs. The music is hit or miss and yes, it is a trashy bar so don't expect anything elegant. The drag shows here are great and they are hands down my favorite thing about Gay 90's, so be sure to check it out!
google avatar

Marc T.

Yelp
Pretty good place that can get wild. Made out with two chicks simultaneously while here was some stripping goin on in front of us and sipping bud light
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
They didn't let me in because the lady was 100% sure my ID was a fake. I can tell you I've never owned a fake my whole life. She also turned down a group of girls who were visiting from Rochester for the same reason! What is this, a snooty club in Manhattan or something? Honey, you guys aren't THAT special. Don't know if they just turn down everyone with a non-Minnesota license or what...but they'd better up their game and do better with the Super Bowl coming up and all, unless they want bad press for the Twin Cities.
google avatar

Brooklyn B.

Yelp
So much fun!!! Dance floor and DJ were amazing! Good drinks but cover over Pride was a little crazy....

Kaylin N.

Yelp
yelp told me to leave a review but i've only been there once and we just stood in line for 10 minutes before leaving to get 1am Domino's instead. successful night.

Chaeli A.

Yelp
It's a fun bar. But it feels like it's not even for LGBT people anymore. Straight people have infiltrated the place and it ruined the atmosphere. I hope things change eventually.

Swan M.

Yelp
They hire security that had actual fights in front of the club before being hired to secure the night club; as if that particular person didn't have enemies. Make people feel in danger because of the extra activities in front of the establishment.

Debelah T.

Yelp
I checked out this place for the second and last time not long ago. I should have listened to my friends when they said to stay away from there because it wasn't what it used to be. I don't know what it used to be. All I can see is what it is. There were signs that said this is a "safe space" for everyone. It didn't feel like a safe space at all. I was there for a half hour before I said no more. The inside is filthy from the carpets to the tables to the bars and everything else. I have no idea how this type of filth can bring in so many people. Worse, I saw a couple cockroaches crawling behind the bar and where the bartenders make their drinks. I saw several dirty glasses. I didn't bother buying a drink, in fear that I'll get sick. I'm happy I didn't because I saw another customer get served one of those dirty drinks. Employees were beyond rude. I felt like I was in the worst neighborhoods of New Orleans again. They didn't care about anyone but themselves. I was scared to be around them. I saved this paragraph for the worst of them. That would be the drag queen who goes by Anita Riviera. I saw him mouth off people for no reason. He was using racial slurs against people of color. Being I'm biracial, I was deeply disturbed by the racism that came from him. I also overheard him poke fun at one of my friends for being in the autism spectrum. He can't help his disability! This drag queen needs to either shape up his act or run out the door.

Yelp
I love this place. Goods and bads. Commenting as a straight female. Now i love this place because it's definitely open minded, if you're really conservative, don't waste your time ok. i don't think anything here surprises me anymore since i come here a lot. You and your friends can be yourselves and thats great. A lot of snotty people and YES snotty staff! The reason i'm giving them 4 stars is because i know all the snotty ones and just stay clear. There are so many fake people in here, you gotta be ready. There are also really nice sweethearts in here though! I try my best to give them tips. I really don't know where to start because there are so many dance floors, so many vibes, so many personalities. I think you should just go in and have an open mind/heart. Be an adult, not everyone is going to be nice to you so toughen up. Do you want to chill? Karaoke? Sit down and watch? Get a lap dance? Meet new people? Just stand and look? I don't know! So many things to do! JUST GO! Have fun, it's a great place i believe. I wish there were straight clubs that gave me the feels i feel about this place but NONE. I personally advise you to come around 12/12:30 on Friday or saturday. The 3rd weekend of the month is usually the most packed i think because thats the weekend anyone can come (18+). Plus that friday is the foam party, my fave!

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday night. As you could agree, not many people put on Tuesdays. I still had fun though! I can only imagine what it's like here on the weekends! This place is HUGE! One thing that made me mad, is that in the side room there is a TouchTunes jukebox. I bought $5 worth of credits... the first song I chose was Despacito and the bartender turned it off!!! I mean if you don't like it, then pay your fee and choose something else. Don't mess with the music someone paid for.... or get rid of the machine.

Yelp
Men dressed as women singing Top 40 hits and Diana Ross songs? Sign me up. I've been yearning to check out what the downtown gay bar scene has the offer for quite some time, and finally stepped into the pond last night. With all the choices out there from the Saloon, Gladiators, Blot, 19 Bar, and more, it was hard to determine which to tackle first... but not that hard. I've heard good things about Gay 90's drag show, so that was that. And good it was. There were a variety of drag queens to appeal to various tastes. Some were medicore at best (in looks and performance) but a few were very, very talented and incredibly entertaining. The MC rocked the house and joked with the crowd. I will admit, like the review before me, there were quite a crowd of heterosexuals around: when the MC asked for the L&G to raise their hands, very few did, and half of them were in our group! However, that's not to say there weren't any in the the house... they were all out tearing up the dance floor! If the Drag show's not your thing, I'm sure one of the 6 bars and 3 dance rooms will have you partying hard in no time. Upstairs is the recently remodeled Retro Room with plush carpeting and hard wood floor, 7 poles in the back and two on the bar for all your twirling needs, and flat-screen panels around the room showcasing the latest and greatest music videos. Downstairs, there's a room for hip hop music and another for pop. There's a special bar, "Men's Room," for men only (surprise) past the men's restrooms. My group of gay and straight men entertained themselves with shots and graphics videos while us ladies were left to our imaginations. Service was pretty good - didn't have to wait too long for drinks. At one point, my friend and I got a drink that turned out pretty terrible, but the bartender quickly replaced it with something very delicious. For a straight girl, I have got to say, there were some great eye candy in the house. I somehow also talked two of the male dancers there into showing me a few moves on the pole, which was AWESOME! It is NOT easy doing tricks on the pole and I've got the bruises this morning to prove it. Lots of upper arm, core, and leg strength and control to pull of the slick moves. Major props to all the dancers. Bar time's still 1 or 2 (depending on which of the 6), but the dance party rocks on till 3am on Fridays and Saturdays! Hours of fun for $5 (and $2 coat check) - well worth it. Definitely looking forward to going again. I hear their occasional foam parties are nights not to forget...

Yelp
The straightest gay bar I've ever been to. I used to love going to the 90's until it became a hetero haven of homogenous bachelorette parties at the drag show. While I appreciate the ladies in drag, the shrill of drunken cheese balls have tarnished the whole experience. For them it's a small reprieve from "safe" sports bars, Applebee's and other places frequented together in herds. Ugh! It's a defining "OMG" moment and good story to brag about on Monday when they return to Cubicle land yammering about how they went to the 90's got crazy drunk and saw drag Queens. I've had the misfortune of being on both receiving ends at the 90's and having to pretend that I'm interested at the office. Blech... Some of the bachelorette parties that I've observed have been respectable. It's the overly obnoxious ones screaming and dancing like they're the ones on stage and block everyone's view. I'm all for having fun, but be respectful and notice there are other people trying to enjoy the atmosphere. The drag show itself is great. My favorite is Camille Collins. The retro room is fun. Music is nostalgic and people are generally nice. The downstairs dance annex is fun, although the couch or sitting area gives me the creeps. There is a variety of music for everyone AND at least they got rid of the tacky out of place pull tab booth they had once upon a time. Eek! Worth a visit and a few turns to "I wanna Dance with Somebody" believe me someone will dance with you...

Yelp
This bar is So. Much. Fun. There is dancing. There is drag. There are cheap drinks. There is pole dancing. There is karaoke. It is everything you could ask for in a bar. I don't even know if you can get through all of the rooms in one evening. The only downside is that not all of the rooms are open every night. I believe they are all open Fridays and Saturdays and there is a cover but it is absolutely worth it.
