Gebeta Ethiopian Kitchen - Review - Farringdon - London - The Infatuation

"Even after all the falafel and katsu market stalls are long gone for the day, Leather Lane is a seriously buzzy place. And Gebeta, an Ethiopian spot with a steady stream of regulars, is never quiet either. Sit out front for grimy London charm meets alfresco dining and you’ll overhear conversations between the local shop owners about their plans for the evening, watch colleagues battle with Google Maps in search of the nearest post-work pint, and enjoy a nice breeze while you pull apart at soft injera. Inside it’s significantly more tame: beautiful murals cover the walls and handwoven baskets are hung all over. Friends sit on the lime green banquette seating and couples take the window seat while they work their way through a two-person platter. Get the Gebeta special for a nice mix of everything—the tender lamb tibs is particularly good. Food Rundown Gebeta Special The perfect order for one, it comes with rich lamb tibs, a chicken leg, and some vegetarian stews—our favourite being the satisfying misir wat (a moreish red lentil stew). Once you eat most of the stews, make sure to get involved in the soaked injera at the bottom for the tangiest, most flavourful part." - Rianne Shlebak

Super cute and cosy. But oh my the food, SO good. Great way to spend my birthday, I would definitely come back. Get a lot of food to share with friends, split the costs and it’s so reasonably priced. Thank you, I had a great time :)

A uniquely decorated Ethiopian restaurant with an interesting atmosphere. However, we were quite disappointed with the food—not because it was bad, but because the portion sizes were extremely small. The beef and lamb were tasty, but for £25 per person, we only received a tiny bowl of meat and mostly filled up on injera. The service was also poor; our side dishes were never even placed in the order. Overall, we wouldn't recommend it and won't be returning.

I came here for lunch at their stall at the leather lane market. The food is amazing and the portions are really good for the price. It’s vegan friendly and one of the more healthier options available at the market. Their spicy sauce is incredibly spicy to add with caution!

Unfortunately disappointed with my experience here. After sitting down the staff were mostly absent, it took 30 mins for them to come and take our order. We ordered the vegan platter for 2, and the meat platter for 2. The portions were much smaller than what I'm used to at Ethiopian restaurants in London, for a higher price. They brought a small extra portion of injera after we'd run out of what came on the plates (most restaurants give you the side of injera automatically), but they offered this far too late and it was still too little to pick up the food. I left feeling hungry, and I didn't want to complain because the staff seemed to be giving the same portions to all the other tables. The meat portion was also very small, and had mostly the same curries as the vegan plate with a little bit of meat, so even worse value. The flavours were good, but nothing I haven't had in other spots. I will likely not be returning unless the reviews suggest their portions have increased.

Absolute amazing find! The two of us shared a vegan platter for one which was delicious and filling. The spicy coffee at the end was beautifully laid out and the music and design of the restaurant is amazing. Would definitely come back here and I recommend it. Great service as well❤️

Amazing food and atmosphere! We got the vegetarian meal for two and it was an amazing amount of food for the price. 100% recommend

We ordered the vegan combo and the lamb. All the dishes were flavorful and prepared well. Keep in mind the serving size is pretty large so may need a takeaway box. I was very surprised they charge £2 for the takeaway container and when I received mine the lid was dusty so I had to ask for another.

Food was authentic and amazing. You will be delighted to come here if you are a fan of ethonipian food or just a fan of great food in general! Big protions and great prices. The Ethiopian tea and wine deserve a shout-out, too. Hiw was our waitress and she was warm, friendly and very welcoming! We absolutely recommend and would come back again 🎊
