Since I’m spending a few weeks in South Carolina, I’ve been searching for the real gems of the Charleston area — and this place is absolutely one of them. Located in the shopping center off Sellers Rd / Yeamans Hall Rd next to the Piggly Wiggly, the restaurant feels like a true neighborhood spot. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by Miss Krystal, who was warm, welcoming, and full of great suggestions. My mouth was already watering just from seeing the menu in person after browsing pictures online. Inside, the restaurant was very clean, had great music playing, and even had a pleasant, inviting fragrance in the air. The whole vibe felt comfortable, open, and friendly — exactly what you want when you’re checking out a local small business built on pride and community roots. I ordered a plate with fried whiting, fried shrimp, crab rice, garlic broccoli, and six garlic honey wings because I wanted to sample a little bit of everything and see what the Geechie chef was working with. Everything was excellent: The garlic honey wings were cooked perfectly, juicy, and coated in a sauce that hit every note — sweet, savory, and full of flavor. The fried whiting was seasoned well, fried to perfection, and the breading was on point. The shrimp were fresh, juicy, and tasted great. But the biggest surprise for me was the crab rice and garlic broccoli — WOW. Both were first-time experiences for me, and the flavors were unlike anything I’ve had before. Unique, rich, and absolutely delicious. You can tell this place is built on love, hard work, and Amazing Geechie-style cooking — the kind of authentic coastal flavor that you just can’t fake. Nothing here tastes rushed or generic. Everything tastes handcrafted, intentional, and rooted in real culinary skill. Small businesses like this deserve all the support they can get. We had the "Messy Fingers" platter. Boiled crab, oysters, shrimp, lobster, corn and potatoes, smothered in a seasoned butter garlic sauce that is a life experience. This was by far the most amazing seafood I have ever had and I usually criticize taste. I usually think to myself how I could have cooked or seasoned it better, but hands down I could never prepare something as good as what we had. Would highly recommend 👌🏼. And the owner/cook was a delight to speak to. The server was also amazing. Great people, amazing food, good vibes all around.

First time trying the food and I was pleased. Very nice restaurant in Hanahan. The service was awesome. Very flavorful and delicious food. Prices were good especially for the portions you get. You even get a complimentary drink which was a nice touch. The only thing I didn't like was their seating arrangements for dining in. There were very low couches and high top tables for dining in. It can be uncomfortable for individuals with legs, knees, and back problems. Never the less inside was very clean and welcoming. I will definitely come back.

I went becuase i seen it on tiktok. looks good. The line was long and a female came out saying it was going to be a 30 min wait so I left. I came back couple weeks later. Placed order for din in it took 35 to 45 min after the order to get it. Food was good. But not worth the wait. But server was nice. But time with getting food out needs to be worked on.

The warm hospitality more than made up for the slightly slow service, but we did order quite a bit! The signature garlic butter was amazing, the fried oysters juicy and the candied yams a sleeper surprise. The mac and cheese wasn't just cheesy, it was also well seasoned and a generous portion. The crab rice has crab in every bite and the fried egg was a yummy starter. We'll be back.

I love this place. This was my second visit, and the hospitality is excellent. I took my mom here; she is very picky about her food. She said that these were the best yams she had ever had! The cook is back there cooking, so be patient; it is well worth the wait if you decide to walk in. I personally love the crab rice!

I wanted to give this establishment 5 stars. However my complaints - the garlic crabs were mushy, and the fried fish was too salty. Now my garlic shrimp were perfect,garlic mashed potatoes awesome,and the palmetto juice I beat it down before I put the car in drive. Will I be back YES, the customer service was 10/10. I just pray my crabs aren't mushy when I return. If you are in doubt don't be give them a try.

I’ll start with the menu online drew me into dining in the restaurant. Prior to writing this experience, I did ask for owner Roy Walker to come out and speak with me but he informed a staff member he didn’t have time. Here are the concerns: 1) food was old 2) the thick fish batter took away from the meat. This had to be discarded. 3) The server was not welcoming, the order was wrong when the food did come-45 min later. 4) Charlene was kind and the music selections were nostalgic. 5) Training in exceptional customer service is vital since these people are the first faces to interact with potential customers. In particular when there are special requests made to ensure certain ingredients are not added to foods and it happens anyway. This could be a lawsuit waiting to happen if the staff and cooks are unaware. Food diets and allergy sensitivities are a reality these days and therefore servers/staff Have to be mindful to follow. Constructively, I hope the suggestions previous customers and I made will be revisited with keen reflection. I sincerely hope your business thrives to be a place where the local community and surrounding areas all agree the experience and food is simply the best.

What a gem! The food is amazing! The hospitality was wonderful! The restaurant is clean! I ordered the Fried Whiting Fish dinner that came with crab rice (delicious), and two sides. I chose Mac & Cheese (superb) and yams (sooo good). My sister ordered the fish dinner as well with Garlic Broccoli (just okay) and Garlic potatoes (excellent). Then we SHARED 12 stand alone shrimp (Exceptional). It took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive because it's cooked fresh but it was worth it. We loved our food so much we ordered sides to go with our leftover fish and shrimp!! And there is more! We are in town for a family celebration. Had to go to the airport to pick up my son. He was hungry, so we went BACK! He ordered the Shrimp Dinner with Mac & Cheese, yams and a house salad. The house salad was incredible! Sha (short for Sharlene) was the cashier possibly owner not sure but she was so helpful, engaging and lovely. It was a pleasure. We had an incredible experience at Geechie Garlic Crab and Seafood Restaurant. It's on my list of must visit restaurants EVERY TIME I come to Charleston. By the way, we plan to back to go back tomorrow!

Great little fish place with fast, friendly service. The fish combo consisted of two massive filets and comes with crab rice and two sides. I chose yams and fries. Everything was delicious. A few more drink options would be nice, but you really don't need anything more than the tasty palmetto punch. The restaurant has a nice, clean modern vibe, and is located in a nice shopping center. They also have daily lunch specials.

Ridiculously flavorful food. Pretty sure my dozen shrimp order was more than that, at a very fair 15 bucks. No shortage of garlic. Eating with your hands here is the only way! While a simple restaurant and menu, it's all about the flavor here. Also, the people are kind here, the service is very attentive.

First visit, found this place on here. Nice, quiet facility. I was visiting Charleston from GA - celebrating me. The staff was great & attentive to the customers making sure we were good. Music playing at a nice level (I sat at the bar), tv screens at the table if you prefer to sit there. I will be back!

The garlic blue crabs were amazing! The wait was short and service was good. Friendly staff. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Food and service amazing! Easy going environment and entertaining! Food hot and tasty! One of the best meals I had in a long time! Not expensive and the palmetto juice to die for! Love it!

The service is as amazing! I was greeted upon entering by two lovely ladies in front. I was assisted with the menu, forgot my glasses, and was given combo suggestions that would work for me. The young lady was truly helpful. I ordered fish, shrimp, crab, broccoli and yams. The meal lasted two nights. Everything was cooked nicely and all was tasty. I enjoyed it and would come again and perhaps eat in. Worth a try.

Found this place on Yelp while visiting Charleston, SC. The service was an amazing and the food was fresh and sooo good.. The breading that the food is friend in is soooo good. It's hard to explain... The Palmetto Juice was extremely refreshing.

So this is what GREAT CAJUN SEAFOOD is supposed to taste like! Mind-blown. I'm hooked. This is officially the best seafood I've had in Charleston. The place does not hint at the genius taking place in the kitchen. For whoever is the cook or cooks, they're creating culinary masterpieces in generous proportions and bold, BOLD, the BOLDEST of FLAVORS. Had the crab rice, succulent with juicy chunks of crab, and the garlic shrimp and oysters... Holy Mother of Forest Gump! That butter, spicy, garlic sauce, I want it on errything from now on! Closed on Sundays and Mondays (bummer!) Don't go inna rush, or better yet, call ahead. Perfection can't be rushed, and perfection is what you'll get!

The service was EXCELLENT!!!! The food?!?!?!?!!??!!?! Holy Moly is this place amazing!! We got the crab legs tray with shrimp, potatoes, corn and eggs. That garlic butter sauce they use?! It is THE most flavorful sauce I've ever had!! The seafood was fresh and big and well worth the money!! Great little spot with amazing food!!!!!

Amazing seafood spot with amazing tasty seafood. The service was excellent and extremely helpful when making my selections on the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant fits well with the food and the vibe. Overall, the food was delicious and tasteful to eat and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some good tasting food in the North Charleston area.

Extremely disappointed based off the reviews. Feel like I got cheated out of $40. Blue crab was super tiny. Very little meat. Complete waste. The shrimp was tiny but good. The fish filet breading wasn't very good. Mashed potatoes were a no. Couldn't finish meal it was so bad. Won't be wasting my money going back. Much better options in Charleston.

Visiting Charleston and wanted some seafood gumbo for my early birthday food. My sister ended up finding this restaurant and the pictures got our attention to try it after seeing the garlic crabs. OMG it was so good. It was hard to find but we found it. Was not sure what to expect at first. We had the 12 garlic crab, the garlic lobster, corn, 3 lamb chop dinner and everything was amazing. The crab rice, and mash potatoes was delicious. The geechi bowl was amazing with the beef sausage. Guess I'm going back this weekend with my husband for round two of take out. This is definitely a take out spot. Charlene was so sweet.

Great customer service and the food was really good! I got the geechie bowl with shrimp 10/10. My husband got the fried fish , crab rice with 2 sides (macaroni and yams). The fish, crab rice and yams 8/10. The only thing we didn't care much for was the macaroni (4/10). We also shared the geechie fries 10/10. The butter sauce is AMAZING! We will be back when we are in town.

The food was great and the staff was nice as well. We visited pretty early in the day so they had everything I wanted. I loved their butter sauce and the fried crab. The crabs were a little smaller than I'm used to in SC but still good and tasted fresh which is always a plus. I was extremely pleased with the size and quality of the shrimp. We were was visiting Charleston and this was first stop. There isn't much seating room but there was just enough for my friend and I to enjoy our meals. We'll definitely be back on our next trip

Good food and service was average wait time ( about 25 minutes) . Decor is nothing special but it's a small area with a couch and TV. The sauce has a little kick too it that I wasn't expecting. Overall would try again

One of the most tastiest, seafood platters I've had in a while. I even had a fried blue shell crab for the first time, and that was different and tasty as well. I was visiting from Philly and decided to give this place a try, my family and I were not disappointed.

This is a great place for takeout seafood. There are a 2 small tables inside, so I suggest you order for takeout. The prices are moderate, which is to be expected for these types of seafood restaurants, however, when I receive my food, I noticed that this looked much better than other seafood places that I have tried. The flavor was great, not too salty, however the crab meat with sticking to the shell on almost all of the crab legs, which makes me question the freshness of the seafood, perhaps? Otherwise, the shrimp was good, the service was good, the cashier lady kindly explain the different combos to me, and my experience was pleasant. 8.5/10

PROS: ALL the Food was made HOT (arrived 45 mins after opening), place was clean and customer service was great. The whiting was fried to perfection. Food looked great CONS: Crab rice had lots of other things but crab and it was dry. Flavor seemed ok Fried crabs had a lot of batter inside. Almost like an uncooked hush puppy. If you are used to your Fried Crabs being cleaned prior to frying, do not order. I didn't order shrimp only because I asked if the shrimp were deveined. I was told they are not. So I didn't order them. If you are a person who prefers deveined shrimp..this is your warning as they don't do refunds (signs are posted) I would definitely still recommend because everyone's preferences are different.

Friends and I were around the area and decided to stop by for some seafood dishes. To start off there's not many parking spaces by the entrance and It is a very small place where you can only find a table for two and a small couch. It is basically a to go place. The staff was very friendly and advised us of the wait time. So we ended up waiting for about 30-45 mins for our food. But it was definitely worth the wait!!! We got the Garlic lobster & shrimps. It comes with corn, egg and potatoes. The food was amazing and everything tasted so fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

My son and I stumbled into Geechie after building a serious hunger cruising the Pitt street bridge. It's well hidden and not well marked on the street but completely worth finding. 1. This ain't fast food. So plan on taking a few minutes to decide and needing at least 20 minutes for the food to cook. This ain't no Popeyes. Next if you are getting bored of the traditional crab boil and the same old flavors it provides time to try the garlic crab. I can't explain it but it's got flavor up the wazoo and it's the first time I have heard my teenage son silent in a long time as he slurped the crabs clean. So I guess he wasn't so silent. Hats off to the team at Geechie we are your new fans and will be back again soon. Like maybe tomorrow cause my son didn't really share very well........

I traveled into town and searched for some good seafood. Food took 1 hr and 15 min to make two entrees. I love support black owned businesses, but the service is slow and food was just ok. Not worth the money at all.

I have done a nine garlic crab taste off and nobody comes close to these folks. The size of the clusters, and the perfection to which they are cooked isn't duplicated by anybody else. But where these folks shine the brightest is the amazingly garlic garlic butter they're doused in. My trips to Charleston are suffering with the closure of this little joint.

After seeing so many posts on this seafood restaurant I just had to try. Geechi restaurant will definitely be in rotation this summer. I had fried oysters, garlic snow crab, blue crabs and lobster. Very nice lady worked at the counter. (You do have to give your card # over the phone if you order takeout though) I knew the food was gonna be bomb when I saw they pop the boxes open and show you your order before they bag it. Everyone kept cheering when they were showed their food. Me too. Got the fried shrimp basket and the shrimp, potatoes, egg, and corn were all cooked perfect. Great seasoning, you gotta get their garlic butter to go with with it; their's rules. Definitely coming back

The Food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS Anytime I'm in Charleston I'm always going to stop by . The server was so helpful with suggestions. THAT SAUCE AMAZING . The prices were reasonable and customers service was outstanding. I even too food back on the plane that's how good the shrimp and oysters were.

Run, do not walk to this place. It is SO. GOOD. I dream of the garlic sauce. If I could swim in it, I might. The venue is nothing to look at, which means they spend all their energy on the food. You will wait for your food. That's not a bad thing. I'm hesitating to share this because I don't want to share, but I want this place to last forever, it's that freakin' good. Eat here.

My Fried Blue Crabs were yummy. Being from Va, that is one of our known specialty dishes. I highly recommend you give this dish a try. Don't forget to ask for hot sauce on the side.

Cook to order is a good thing when you have multiple people in the kitchen. Waiting almost an hour is a bit much.

Hands down the best seafood I have ever had. The shrimp were so fresh and the seasoning blend was perfect. Also, the customer service was great, atmosphere was welcoming and the food came out quick. I've been burnt by so many places similar to this one but I have no problem spending my money here. I highly recommend!

The location is small in size and BIG in friendliness and taste! The young lady working up front was very nice and patient with every guest I saw her interact with. The food was amazing and the portions were plentiful. I will absolutely visit this place the next time I'm in the area.

The food was really good. This is a Togo spot so you can't dine in. I ordered food and took it to the beach. The seafood was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Not salty. Will recommend this spot

I saw a post of Facebook about them and then went here after driving by and seeing the sign. Very impressed!! Lots of food for the price, they are clean, great service and tastes great. Definitely will be back
