9 Great Places To Eat & Drink Around Richmond - London - The Infatuation

"Located bang opposite the Green, Gelateria Danieli is arguably the best spot to grab ice cream in Richmond. The counter behind the parlour’s milky façade serves up frozen yoghurts, granita, smoothies, and milkshakes, but it’s their quality gelato you really want. The flavours are mind-boggling, with everything from traditional (pistachio, stracciatella and hazelnut) to tantalising (Turkish delight and Sicilian cactus fruit) on offer." - puja bhattacharjee

Google
I can’t say how many times during the past 10 years I came at Gelateria Danieli for the best ice cream in London. My favourites, Biscuit and Pistachio with a thick Italian hot chocolate, one of Danieli’s signatures. The owners and the staff members are so nice. This place deserves way more than 5 stars

Google
Very thick chocolate, which tastes so premium. It is hot which is perfect in cold weather. Really great to have with a scoop of Gelato. The cold Gelato combines perfectly with the thick hot chocolate. Was really perfect and one of the best hot chocolates I have tasted and reasonably priced.

If you're searching for an exceptional hot chocolate experience in London, look no further than Danieli's! Their signature hot chocolate is truly remarkable – the consistency is unbelievably thick and smooth, a real indulgence. It's the perfect warm-up on a cold winter's day, especially with the beautiful backdrop of Richmond. They also offer a fantastic Affogato hot chocolate for those who find the signature version too rich. I'm already looking forward to trying their ice creams in the summer, having heard rave reviews about their smooth creaminess and perfectly crisp cones. Apparently, their dark chocolate and coffee flavors are top-notch, and I'm intrigued to try the pistachio based on a recommendation!

Wonderful gelateria at the park end of Brewers Lane, Richmond. Gelato is creamy, pack full of flavour and smooth. This time opted for strawberry sorbet, which was super fruity and sweet. Perfect dessert after our lunch. 5🌟

Voted as “one of the best” ice-cream spots in London by Timeout.com, Gelateria Danieli is a must visit for all Gelato lovers in London!🙌 It’s located in the beautiful London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, so you can enjoy your favourite gelato flavours as well as coffee and milkshakes with great views of the town💯 I also tried their Italian Hot Chocolate and I loved it! They completely changed the concept of Hot Chocolate by using melted chocolate instead of powdered chocolate with milk, which was not only filling but also incredibly flavourful with a creamy texture💯 Danielis is a must try for Gelato and Hot Chocolate lovers alike. Robert provided us exceptional service and was very friendly as well.

Google
Tasty gelato, friendly service. I went in after a long walk from Richmond. Long queue but quite fast. Had pistachio and bakewell tart. I like the pistachio gelato. The people that serve the ice cream were funny and friendly. You can taste the ice cream before you buy. Double scoop was £5.5 in 2025.

Many years ago, I came here semi regularly when I lived close to the area. Somewhere in between then and now, this gelato has become revoltingly sweet and low on flavour. Had cherry, mint, and caramel scoops today, and they were all disappointing. The ratio of sugar to flavour is way too high. The most disappointing geloto I've had in ages

Alexey Subach

Google
The hot chocolate was underwhelming to me. It definitely contained a lot of starch or other thickening agent and had the corresponding side taste and weird texture. Thick hot chocolate is great but it should but genuine. Maybe they have good gelato but I’d definitely avoid the hot chocolate. The staff was nice and the atmosphere inside was good

Yelp
Probably some of the best ice cream I had for some time! While in London we visited friends from the Richmond area and stopped by for some ice cream. The ice cream (and chocolate!) is homemade upstairs. In addition, you get amazing flavors like yogurt/fig or a cinnamon/date flavored ice cream. Get some, go to the adjacent park - where Ted Lasso was filmed.

Yelp
Gelateria Danieli is a cute and cozy hole-in-the-wall gelato and chocolate shop right off Richmond Green. They offer various flavors of gelato and chocolate truffles for you to choose as enjoy while you stroll outside. The forest fruits was just so-so, but the honeycomb was good. Check it out on a nice day if you're in the area.

Yelp
Delicious gelato, one of the best in London! I got the first scoop of a fresh batch of Biscuit gelato, paired with a scoop of Rocher (chocolate & hazelnut). Both flavors were delicious, and I tried biscuit at the recommendation of the server, which was a great choice! The staff was friendly and willing to give samples. The medium size (2 scoop) was £3.50 and absolutely worth the price. If you're in the area and looking for dessert, this is the place to go.

Yelp
If any of you have never tried an ice cream from Gelateria Danieli then you are in for a treat. The taste is different to most ice creams. Somehow, they taste both thicker and smoother than conventional ices. Visually, they look like they have been whipped into submission. Row after row of multi coloured tufts of creamy concoction's await you when you walk in. There is no way that I could tell you about all the flavours - there are easily around 50. I can say that they cover all the bases. Fruit flavoured, chocolate, coffee, dairy free and sorbet. I came in on a hot summers night and got a mixture of biscuit and dulche de leche. It was probably my sugar fix for the year, but so worth it. It is worth noting that Gelateria Danieli is also open till 8pm from Tuesday to Sunday. Perhaps I am too easily pleased, but there is something so delightful about strolling down this cobbled little side alley while other shops are closed and popping in for an after supper treat.

Yelp
This is one of these neighbourhood haunts that locals swear is the best in London. Of course they would say that and of course statements like these don't usually follow extensive market based research. It's about loyalty, familiarity and affection for what's yours. This is Richmond's Ice Cream Parlour and certainly, it's very nice. It's homemade, the ice cream comes in great flavours (inventive/new as well as traditional/classic) and the setting is clean cut and relaxed. Naturally it gets really busy in the summer and there can be queues out of the door but it is open all year round and I reckon it feels even better eating ice cream in the winter. It's like perfectly innocent childish rebellion.

Yelp
Ice cream so good I had it twice, IN ONE DAY. Absolutely gluttonous, I know! But totally worth it. The first time round, I eyed the banana sorbet but ended up going for the lemon sorbet in a cone. A bit tart, but I'm a sucker for lemon flavour. The second time I dragged my boyfriend. He got something unprounouncable ("stracciatella"), and I got a Panna Cotta. Umm, YUM! Then we went and did something totally English and sat in the sun on the Green watching the cricket eating our ice creams. The big bonus was it was only £2 for a cone! A few pence extra over a 99 Flake around the corner and your tastes buds will salute you.

Yelp
I woke up this morning with a craving for froyo. I was on the bus using my little iphon Yelp app, as one does, looking desperately for something to satiate this ever-growing, fiery lust. "Gelateria Danieli". Who what where? Why, it's that little place down the alley 30 seconds from where you work. Whoops. The ice cream was seriously amazing, and the server was cute, flirtatious, funny and friendly. Perfect. I almost went back for seconds. I might be there tomorrow. Edit: It's 1am. I will be there in about 13 hours. Wheee!

Yelp
I scream for ICE CREAM! Indeed I do when I eat here. Popped in today for a taste even though it was so cold it was slightly inappropriate. What a selection and some really lovely flavours that you don't find in other places. If you are taking a stroll down the river make sure you wonder down the side street as you'll find little gems like this. Ice cream is about £2 a pop but worth every penny. The rum and raisin actually has little raisins scattered on top - just how it should be. I will warn you, brain freeze is a guarantee as you'll gobble it up so fast that you'll be cringing with delight. I feel like my life is now complete. It drops one star as they don't sell it in larger tubs so that I can gorge myself on the sofa in the privacy of my own home. Take note Mr. Gelateria Danieli, I want tubs, giant tubs.

Yelp
This is by far the best ice cream within several miles of Richmond. It's a must-have if you haven't tried it before. If you visit in the summer, be prepared for a queue out the door and down the walkway but it's definitely worth the wait. The ice cream is fab, but one of the best things is that they offer gluten-free cones. This is particularly good for those with wheat intolerance.

Yelp
'Sei stelle' is what Signor Danieli's miniature theatre to gelato deserves. Five simply do not do the place justice. Perhaps it's the nostalgia of remembering summers passed on Richmond Green nursing a tub of his gelato but I've yet to find better centrally - Gelupo and Scoop included. Danieli also has a concession in the Bentalls Centre in Kingston on one of the top floors - these two shops appear to remain South-West London's well-guarded secret... The flavours are something else (try his yoghurt gelato or peach sorbet) and are absolutely worth the trek from other parts of London if you're not one of the fortunate few to live within a scoop's throw of this place. Bellisima!

Yelp
Definitely a contender for the best icecream in London. Helped (or hindered, on the weekend) by the fact that it is located in a pretty lane just behind beautiful, traditionally English - cricket and all - Richmond Green. For me, the sorbet is the star turn, especially the luscious super-rich flavour-packed chocolate variant. Passion fruit is exquisite too. One scoop goes a long way, fortunately! The only downsides are the weekend queues and the fact that you can't rely on them having your favourite flavour available on every visit.

Yelp
Amazing amazing ice cream!!!! Such a variety of sorbets to ice creams. Always a long queue in the summer months and is even busy during the winter, with people eating the ice cream inside. Very small but lots of energy from staff inside.

Yelp
So so yummy! If you're in Richmond go visit, you're in for a real treat! So hard to choose a fave as they're all wonderful but I do have a real soft spot for Fruits of the Forest fro yo! Oh and if you can't make it to Richmond, there's always the 2nd floor of Bentalls in Kingston, best post gym treat ever

Yelp
Completely heavenly experience. There's so much choice and everything is tip-top quality and utterly delicious! Biscuit is my fave and they serve a fantastic cup of coffee. I love nipping in for a well earned shopping break at Bentalls in Kingston... they've got a licence to serve alcohol there now, so I shall be making cheeky Aperol breaks this summer too

Yelp
I've lost count how many times I've been to this wonderful place! The ice cream is amazing and there is always a great selection of ice creams, sorbets and frozen yoghurts to choose from - the fresh strawberry and fruit ice creams particularly are truly scrumptious! There will be a flavour for everyone! They also supply a vast selection of cones, including gluten free rice cones as well as the usual tubs for your tasty noms to sit in. It's worth noting that they also do hot/cold drinks, waffles, pancakes/crepes and milkshakes as well as some amazing looking ice cream cakes which can be ordered in advance for special occasions. You can also buy a tub of their ice cream to take home with you which is ideal for parties and entertaining. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, it is a little expensive but it is so worth it!!

Yelp
Queued from outside on a hot summers day, superb! Worth the short wait in the sun.

Yelp
I ate some of this at a stand in Oxford Street - they had some great yoghurt flavours and also BAKEWELL TART! I was in heaven.
google avatar

Yelp
Very tasty gelato and the park nearby is a great place to sit and enjoy eating it. Down a small alley about 20 feet or so so watch for it. :)

Yelp
The icecream is great but most people miss out on the coffee. Without a doubt, for any Italian coffee lover, this has the best coffee in the Borough.

Yelp
Hidden treasure on a side street in the heart of Richmond. Their gelatos are just simply divine! If you are in the Richmond area, definitely check this place out. Great flavours! Personally love their pistachio.

Yelp
I really like this place. Every time when I am near it I prefer to go there and get an ice- cream. They have a big variety of ice-creams and if you are a fan of them you won't resist on the delicious flavours. They are on a fair price. Actually he last time I waited too much for my ice-cream and I was a bit late for my appointment.

Paul J.

Yelp
Despite the torrential summer rain I curiously thought it was about time for a lunchtime ice cream. And perfect ice cream it was. Had their Rocher flavour and it was smooth and delicious. Portion sizes are generous and good value (£2.50 a scoop). The guy was friendly and was happy for us to sit out the rain for as long as we wanted.

Qype User (angeld…)

Yelp
The best ice cream in London if not the world! The gelato here is made to strict and secret recipes. The staff will make suggestions on flavours as you will have a hard time choosing. I would recommend the any of the sorbets but the frozen yoghurt will the forest fruit compote is to die for. Susana makes excellent coffee too. You must visit this place once, you won't be able to stop.

Nigel S.

Yelp
The most delicious ice cream you will come across. My favourite of the three I tried (yes, I know, sheer greed) was the chocolate sorbet. It was both rich and light at the same time. Remarkable.
