Five Gelato Scoops to Try This Weekend - Eater Denver

"This Denver sister spot to Boulder’s Fior di Latte recently opened in Zeppelin Station. Creamy gelato is served in flavors like mascarpone orange blossom, vanilla lavender, and vegan midnight chocolate. Tip: The vegan flavors are just as rich and creamy as the ones made from dairy." - Lucy Beaugard

Google
I can try and find faults in this place, but they are not substantial enough to give it anything but a five for a rating. I keep finding myself coming here, so it seems to be some subconscious five regardless. The staff has always been incredibly energetic and welcoming whenever the wife and I go there. One time, I was mad at myself for not ordering the monthly special, and the staff person gave me a scoop on the house of it. I just had sensory overload when ordering. I had the cookie jar and their ridiculous flavor this last time. The ridiculous flavor is gooey butter cake and caramel, and that alone is a good reason to go. It is as good as it sounds. The flavors are creative, and there are two rotating flavors each month that are equally as creative. My two digs on the place are nit-picky. I wish they rotated in more flavors than two a month or more frequently, and I wish they had a really small portion, as their small is $6. I like getting tiny kid portions at other places. Another great thing they do, which I haven't seen anywhere else, is offer all of the dietary options with multiple flavor choices. Gluten free options, dairy free options, etc., all notated clearly on the menu. And you can't beat the neighborhood it is in, as Tennyson is a really awesome street to explore. Definitely recommend, and see you there...

I don't think I can find any faults in this magical place. This is one of my favorite ice cream places to eat, the employee's were really lovely (specifically this one named Ella I think it was) and suggested one of my new favorite flavors (Coffee chip). I wish I lived closer so I could get it more often. I also wish I didn't have to pay rent so I could spend every last dime I earn on this ice cream. If any family is seeing this please get me a gift card to this place, I would die for some payed ice cream. I would highly recommend!

We stopped in on a rainy day and for the first time in my life I tried an ice cream FLIGHT because we couldn’t decide on four flavors. Our six were: mango coconut (favorite), blackberry crumble, cookie jar, salty pistachio, coffee chip and lavender poppy. All were LOADED with flavor and chunks, and so, so good. Will be back (and try to eat less than 6 scoops between 2 people).

Gelato Boy on Tennyson is so amazing!! Their dairy free options are great and taste so good, I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything! Kyla and Eva were so kind and made our gelato experience so amazing!

As I entered gelato boy I found it to be delightful, the complex flavors of the gooey butter cake accompanied by the exquisite peanut butter brownie was mouthwatering. I hope when you enter this astonishing ice cream palace you feel the same way!

Fantastic gelato spot with rotating flavors and take home pints. Also has fun add on options like actual waffles and brownies..

This shop has a very positive environment, with welcoming staff that are always willing to answer any questions. I truly enjoy the gelato there and it is my favorite place to go when I am craving a sweet treat!

Google
Such a nice treat. They have so many delicious, unique, and interesting flavor. I just wanted a tiny cup and you were able to select two flavors i ended up getting the blood orange pineapple and the hazelnut chocolate flavor. I also friend the lavender poppy seed flavor all 3 were delicious. Only odd thing is the line to order. To me it felt like it was backwards you need to go around towards the back then come toward the exit to play. It’s a tiny shop so they are doing what they can with the space they have but never the less the dessert was delicious!

Yelp
Gelato Boy opened their 5th Colorado scoop shop at the end of May. This one sits right on the bustling Tennyson Street. If you're not looking for it, you might walk right by it without noticing! *You can find it in between Lucy's Burger Bar and Tatarian* For a new brick and mortar it's nice and clean. Two employees working on a Monday night. Branding is minimalistic, yet impactful. Bright pink walls, signage that pops, etc. Pro tip for the photo menu on the front window to the shop with each flavor and clear photo. Impactful and smart marketing! According to their website this is what separates them from the rest: +They make everything in house, from scratch. +Outstanding dairy-free and vegan options. +They work with local dairy and producers. I had a scoop of the Pineapple Blood Orange Creamsicle and it was deliciously refreshing. Mostly sweet and creamy with a mild hint of tartness. Would totally order again on a hot day! There is another ice cream place within a stone's throw, so I'm curious to see the gelato-ice cream battle on Tennyson. Hopefully there's enough room for everyone and they'll all play nice together. Here's to more sweet treats on Tenny!

Yelp
Nice change from plain old ice cream. The flavors are very unique, I chose the chocolate hazelnut, but their limited time rocky road looked good too. Very bright happy and clean colors inside with very enthusiastic scoopers. The only thing that would make this experience better would be for them to use a bigger scooper and pack the scoops together a little more. We did receive a little story time from the cashier about the main differences between ice cream and gelato. We also received little cups of water you just have to ask.

Yelp
Stopped in on opening day by pure chance. Enjoyed a small raspberry with chocolate chips. Very friendly staff. A good addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
The lemon poppy is dairy free and the lavender poppy is traditional gelato. Together this combination is refreshing and not overly sweet which is perfect after a hot bike ride up from the Lake. The service was friendly and they offer samples. We chose to sit inside at the bar, which has 4 stools. There is a bench and 2 small tables inside or a few stools on the sidewalk. Most people grab and go but if you are on your bike it's nice to have a shady spot to sit and enjoy. The only downside is the lack of bicycle lock up areas out front but they weee kind enough to let us bring them inside while we had our snack.

Yelp
The man working first Friday of September at 933pm. You made my night by Putting the month flavor on top, my request, while I was manically giggling. You a real one. Best place ever.

Yelp
They serve an unauthentic cheap version of gelato made with guar and some other gum and stracciatelli nothing like they picture in the window of the store or how it's supposed to be which is greatly overpriced.

Yelp
I loveeee this place. The people that work here are so nice and friendly. The gelato is sooo yummy and unique flavors. Definitely something for everyone. They let you try as much as you want and I love their gluten and dairy options!

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Several unique flavors (I was able to try as many as I wanted). I went with the Gooey Butter Cake and the hubs had the limoncello and both were incredible! Will go back.

Yelp
Just walked out of this place on Denver's first real hot day. I absolutely loved my choices. I almost got an affogato-my Sicilian heart was so happy to learn they exist here... but I saw the pistachio and settled on a small waffle cone with pistachio and coffee chip. To die for. Must try. I see some complaints about pricing.... I'm from LA. This is cheap. Handmade homemade authentic gelato is worth it. I think pricing is fair. Must try immediately!

Yelp
I was so happy when Gelato Boy opened a location on Tennyson! I ordered the hot honey and biscuits flavor and loved it. Pistachio and milk and cookies were other flavors I tried and I was impressed. I like that they have so many vegan/dairy-free flavors. It makes it a great place to go with friends that have different dietary restrictions.

Yelp
amazing best ice cream in Colorado. I've been in colorado for only a couple of hours and already better than most ice cream places back home. I may have to move here just for the ice cream.

Yelp
We stopped by recently and my son got a gelato and liked it -- he got the regular with some sprinkles and after leaving a $1 tip our total came to over $10 for one cup of gelato. He liked the gelato but the pricing seems a bit high and this location looks like it has higher prices than other locations. Their lowest priced cup is over $6. I wish it was a bit more Italy where you could get a small one flavor cup for somewhere in the neighborhood of $3-4.
