Restaurants Offering Dine-In or Takeout Easter Specials in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This San Diego market with multiple locations is offering Easter and Passover Seder options for ready-to-heat meals. Traditional beef brisket, no-salt chicken, and half-spiraled ham along with matzo balls or green bean casseroles are a few of the dish options. Ordering for both meals is open now for a range of pickup dates, making it easy and flexible for hosting." - Helen I. Hwang

I feel sad shopping at Gelsons now. My family has shopped here since I was a child. They were known for their fantastic produce and beautifully stocked shelves. Different from all other markets. Also, the checkout was very quick and friendly. I am sorry that this is not the case any longer. Very few checkout lines open. Trader Joe’s is doing a much better job with customer service now.

Google
Loved the ambiance ar Gelson's in Calabasas. Visiting family here so we did a bit of shopping in the store this morning followed by some nice coffee and Bear Claw pastry!

Anthony Sainz (Ant)

Google
This place reminds me of Whole Foods. A ton of healthy options. A lot of food options to eat there. They had a poke section to build your own bowl, they had a soup section, salad section, sushi section, pizza section and even a bar.

Michele LaMont

Google
Tanya is the best bartender and has created such a great casual atmosphere. Regulars love this place and the selection of wine and beer is fantastic.

Beth Benson

Google
We had a fantastic shopping experience. The employees in both the fish and bakery departments warmly welcomed us with genuine smiles and went above and beyond to assist us. The cashier was incredibly friendly and courteous during checkout.

Justin the Manager was very helpful to me! I love Gelson’s in Calabasas. I think the whole world should be like they are. They offer great service!

Google
Just stopped in a couple times but they have a beautiful store and a great selection of chocolate!

Google
Five star staff all the way around. And selection is unmatched. I'm not sure how people buy fish anywhere else.

Yelp
The Wolfgang puck has been replaced with a cute wine bar near the grab and go section. Grab a bite after grocery shopping, after all who isn't hungry after groceries? I appreciate the unique concept. Gelsons has become synonymous with Thanksgiving for us and also weeknight, easy dinners! I love their prepared food section. It doesn't complete deplete your bank account like Erewhon and the food tastes thoughtfully seasoned and freshly prepared. As far as Thanksgiving is concerned, I will likely never cook my own Thanksgiving because I'm so in love with the ease and taste of Gelson's. Being freed up from mashing potatoes or preparing carrots allows me the time to prepare those sentimental, ancestral dishes we all crave at the holiday season. The turkey is also cooked to perfection but the other ideal part of a Gelson's thanksgiving is all the side dishes can also be purchased ala carte. Ideal! Lastly, this store is just so clean. It's bright, lots of natural light, and has easy parking that is free. I always hate paying for parking grocery shopping. This store makes grocery shopping that much easier, thanks to the prepared food, and just that much more enjoyable.

Yelp
They DO NOT ACCEPT EXPIRED $5.00 COUPONS when they have always done so in the past. Plus, they never send me new ones anymore so I will not be coming back as the prices here are INSANE! Even more then Whole Foods or Bristol Farms. It's never that crowded probably due to the prices. So I guess that's a plus if you are a multi millionaire and don't care what you pay.

Yelp
Something is going on at this store with the meat storage. Several times in the past 6 months or so I've opened packages of chicken that smelled spoiled. At first I assumed it was a fluke and would take them back. Now I just throw the meat out. Guess I need to buy packs of chicken elsewhere.

Yelp
They ran out of chopped liver spread a few hours before the First Seder on Passover. I voiced this to a manager but was neither concerned nor accommodating about this. Not good.

Claudia D.

Yelp
Terrible customer service that keeps getting worse. Best thing about this location is the parking lot (unless it's busy), which feels safe and doesn't have homeless people wandering around (it's off the beaten path). Products are often out of best buy date. Vegetable/fruit department items are often not stocked but when you are able to track someone down to check in back, lo and behold they have items in the back. Cashiers and baggers are often engaged in conversation and pay no attention to customer checking out. Today 3 cashier stations had lights on indicating they were open for checking out but no one was there. The one cashier who was open and available was talking to fellow employees who were baggers, and paid no attention to me when I was waiting to cash out. I found out today they no longer accept "expired" $5.00 off coupons (which they used to do), even though I spend a minimum of $400 per week at this location. Gelson's really needs to invest in customer service training and hold it's employees accountable. Even managers won't go out of their way to show you where an item is. Instead they often just tell you an aisle #.

Yelp
Workers are rude and so I left. I don't need this kind of judgement in my life. I love Gelson's but this is by far the worst location.
google avatar

J. E.

Yelp
I've been coming here for the last decade. The prices have gotten to the point of absurdity, the "security" look like mall cop rejects, and there's always Instacart "shoppers" sitting and smoking cigarettes and weed in the parking lot all morning. Not to mention the self check outs are only open at odd hours so there's lines at the 2 check outs open. For what it costs to shop here they need to do better. Over it.

Yelp
My sister and I are loyal customers at gelsons. We love to get a little sweet treat here, though today I was met with the worst possible piece of bread ever. IT WAS FULL OF SALT. It was titled, "cinnamon loaf", despite my mouth being overwhelmed by the immense amount of salt in the crumbles. I tried to just take off the top layer, but it was nearly impossible. The flavor of salt is still in my tastebuds because that was the only flavor the bread had. My sister and I now have matching headaches. Gelsons please lay it down with the salt!!!!

Yelp
I live in calabasas and patronize this store and unfortunately one of their store associates assaulted my daughter. The associate slapped her drink off of the table because he was upset with another young man...I filed a complaint and police report and cooperate never reached out nor apologized...they will not let my daughter get food or use the bathroom unless I am present despite her never doing anything inappropriate or disrespectful to the store. Very upsetting as residents of this neighborhood

Keri B.

Yelp
This used to be our go to market and it is so horrible since it was sold the prices are insane and they have no heat so it's about 32° inside the market on a cold rainy day you go in there and freeze!!!!!! This is probably why there are only three people in the market.

Yelp
The bakery section is wonderful. Viktor Bene zucchini loaf and pineapple loaf are delicious. The rotisserie chicken is always perfect. Service is quick I never have to wait in a long line. If you go to the deli section the curry chicken salad and Waldorf salad are my picks.
google avatar

Yelp
Going into this store I never want to leave Clean upscale great staff friendly service the best meet and poultry competitive pricing great rewards program. The best deli and bakery So many fresh ready to eat options. A sushi bar a wine bar and Wolfgang pucks. Soup bar I could go on all day if you don't shop here you need to. A lot of private label gelsons on items that are really good like the pasta sauce. You can't tell the difference from Raos. Try the lobster bites in the deli counter best chicken noodle soup also you are guaranteed an amazing customer experience here

Yelp
Horrible attitude/ customer service pretty much across the board ( except seafood/meat area). Not sure whats going on there. One of the employees push the shopping cart into my five year old legs and didn't even say sorry or acknowledge it. Not only did she not say sorry or acknowledge it but we were standing there for five minutes and none of the other staff members around, acknowledged it either. When I asked the person who I thought is the one who did it to say sorry, she said oh, it wasn't me and that's all. Super sad. Will go bristol farms instead.

Yelp
They have opened a Tapas and wine bar. It has become a great place for my wife and I to grab dinner. Food is way above average. Service is the VERY BEST. And everyone is very friendly. It's great to have a place like this in the neighborhood.

Nice local store, always clean and easy to navigate. Our family appreciates the fun Halloween event they host each year.

Yelp
Horrible loaf of bread. Full of salt and no cinnamon included!!!! It said it was a cinnamon loaf but instead was a salt loaf. I want a refund.... $12 spent on salt INFLATION!!!

Yelp
This review is long overdue . I loved this Gelsons as they had a huge selection of produce and carry the hard to find organic sweet 100 cherry tomatoes by del cabo . My favorite tomatoes for everything . they have a very large meat dept but note, the meats here are prime and organic so these items are pricier here than your average grocery store. Gelsons carries higher end brands like Stonewall Kitchens line of jellies jams and seasonings and pancake mixes . They have great items if you are into charcuterie . This is probably the best Gelsons in the SFV. the one in reseda has a very small produce dept and the lines are always long.

Yelp
Ever since Arden sold to a Japanese company, the quality products are slowly disappearing and more and more unhealthy and generic products (Thrifty Ice Cream) have been appearing. I used to shop at Gelson's weekly. Now, I only go when I have to go. The Front Desk Managers could not care less, the staff literally complain about their hours being cut, and there are never enough baggers. They installed self-check out lanes, but honestly, I do not go to Gelson's and pay their high prices to unload and bag my own groceries. The service deli meats and products have declined (they got rid of Boar's Head meats and cheeses), and the hot food is dry and tasteless. The soups are full of Canola Oil now. Yesterday, there were NO BAGS for fruits and vegetables. The guy handling the fruit section could not care less. It has been a very sad deterioration for a once great, upscale shopping experience. Von's quality with Erewhon prices. The checkers always look miserable now.

Yelp
Typical Gelsons. Clean and bright throughout. Everyone was nice and helpful. This location has plenty of parking and is a little less chaotic than others. The quality of food here is great. Love the selection of meats and breads here. All the can labels facing forward the right way satisfies my OCD! The fruits and veggies area is always well stocked and I love the selection of hot foods at the deli counter...

Yelp
Literally 22 days after my last post, i go back to the salad bar. We go early because we don't know if they will close the salad bar at 7:30 or 7:00? Better to play it safe, so we got there before 7. I take the tray to make my salad, walk five feet away to ask my wife a quick question. When i turn around, they're tearing down the salad bar. LOL!! I'm standing there in disbelief. In fact, other customers walked up to the salad bar and were confused as to why it was shut down so early. . As Biden would say "i'm not making this up folks!" (not being political) Admitedly I was pretty pissed. But after a while i just had to laugh. This place is a joke. It's funny at this point. It's not the clerk's fault. It's management. Top down. When we got on line to check out with our groceries, there was only one lane open. I understand if it's 9pm, but not at 7pm. Oh and it wasn't a staff shortage because someone did come to check out the lady in front of us, then leave. I wish the people at Gelson's Corporate would drive down the road to Erewhon so they can see what a first rate market looks and acts like. Erewhon is more expensive, yes, but this is Calabasas not Kalamazoo. so guess i'll have to start driving a little further from now on. I used to love Gelson's when i lived in WeHo and Studio City. This location is good for frozen foods, bananas, and paper plates. Period.

Yelp
I had to do a review for our cornucopia. It was so beautiful. We were able to order it ahead of time and pick it up 10am on thanksgiving. The flowers were fresh and it looked exactly the same the next day with the sponge water method. Highly recommend for anyone in search of an authentic cornucopia!

Yelp
Love this Gelson's location. Always fresh products and a cute little bakery. This Saturday they made some custom sugar cookies for an event and the two women in the bakery Saturday morning packages them beautifully with ribbon. Quiet and easy to get in and out quickly.

Hannah B.

Yelp
Love this store! The staff is amazing and friendly, the store itself is always clean and beautiful. However, they have students in the store and out front from a nearby school that are absolutely horrific! They scream, yell, fight, use vulgar language and are just plain terrible. They completely overrun the front of the store, making me feel unsafe and very uncomfortable. Many other shoppers were of the same opinion, and we may do our shopping elsewhere if nothing is done to remedy this problem. Such a shame.

Yelp
If you expect to be treated with at least a bit of kindness when interacting with other people, don't come here. I recently made the mistake of picking up some lunch with my Father at the Wolfgang express. The way the man behind the counter spoke to and treated my father you would have thought we had driven to his house and asked him to feed us from his own kitchen. To further illustrate how unbelievably rude this man was my father tried to make conversation with him and he flat out ignored him and looked pissed that my father was being nice to him(?) Honestly, I know how it is to be in a bad mood and I'm sorry that you don't want to be at work, but don't take it out on me. We went to Bristol Farms the next week and had an amazing experience. :)

Yelp
Good. Cheap. Fast... Pick two. I mean, that's the (semi-not-serious-but-frequently-true) rule of thumb in many a marketplace. It might be a house painter or it might be a grocery store. If the house painter is cheap and good... he won't be fast. If he's cheap and fast... the painting won't be good. (I think you can take if from here.) In this case it's Gelson's. That's not a slam... that's a compliment. You know they are not cheap... but you can usually count on the product being way better than average and, more importantly, you can count on not waiting 10 or 15 minutes in line. (The "good" and "fast" part of the aforementioned options.) I just got back from there. I intentionally drove at least twice the distance to avoid going to Bristol Farms. The wait in line at Bristol Farms is not only two to three times as long but you also spend that whole time in melt-down frustration mode (I admittedly have a fast idle) because you can SEE that they don't have enough cash registers open and that they are a little unorganized. And the people they DO have working just didn't go to Gelson's training school of how to. If that's a thing. Today was two days before Christmas. You KNOW I didn't want to go grocery shopping or even leave the house for that matter... because, well, Christmas. And Omicron. But I HAD to. And I knew I only wanted to go to one place and I wanted to be in and out quickly. And I didn't want to risk that "the blueberries sucked" or they didn't have other things I needed. It was beautiful.... and quick. And I have to add... the checker was double masked and lightning fast. M'kay... pretty sure I need to go get a life.

Yelp
I am completely thrilled with the manager Justin, at Gelsons Calabasas. We had such a horrible experience picking up our turkey on thanksgiving and he apologized and compensated me. This is the way the company should run their business. While I was there I purchased a lot of pastries from the bakery and many other things. The pastries were delicious. I also visited Wolfgang puck inside the market for lunch. The Caesar salad was really good and so is the margarita pizza. I wasn't overly fond of the vegetable pizza because it had way too much parsley. But overall I would definitely be back. Thank you again gelsons for putting a smile on our face!

Yelp
In the midst of this Covid-19 world we live in, Gelson's Calabasas has become my "grocery shopping haven!" Why, you ask? 1) The quality of the produce is second to none! 2) The bakery is second to none! 3) Their coffee and hot chocolate are second to none! 4) Their prices on staple items are surprisingly competitive for a premium grocery. 5) Their selection of "alternative foods" such as goat milk products, "plant based faux milk," plant based ice cream, plant based meat etc. is extensive. 6) The aisles are wide and uncrowded. 7) The check out area is well screened with plexiglass. 8) The staff is SUPER FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. Since I rarely shop in person anywhere anymore, I do not know my way around any particular grocery store.... And, the staff makes shopping at Gelson's Calabasas totally zero stress. I simply ask for what I am looking for and they walk me to isle and show me exactly where it is!!! What could be easier? I have to admit, I prefer low stress uncrowded shopping.... I choose "mom and pop" hardware stores over the big boys whenever possible... I pick up food to go from independent restaurants instead of chains. Even online, I try to shop at proprietor owned and independent chain stores instead of the internet mega stores. So, I am clearly biased. I love the fact that shopping at Gelson's Calabasas is a quiet, uncrowded and stress free experience. If you are looking to "See and Be Seen," this is not the store for you. If you are looking for a safe and low key grocery shopping experience where everything you need is in one place, Gelson's Calabasas is exactly where you want to be!

Stephen W.

Yelp
Went to the Bowl tonight. The sandwich from the deli counter didn't include any utensils, so we couldn't eat the two side salads. There was no cheese on the sandwich, even though the associate repeated, "Turkey and Swiss cheese." I asked for a soft roll. The sandwich came on a French roll that was so hard we couldn't bite through it. There was so little lettuce and tomato that we finally just peeled off the bread and ate the piece of turkey by itself. Terrible quality and service for any store, especially for Gelson's.

Nicholas Y.

Yelp
Gelson's Calabasas has notices posted at their checkouts they give discounts to police, fire and military which is well and good but I think it is an under inclusive policy which slights other public servants as teachers, nurses who would like to be recognized for their service to the community and would appreciate a discount.

Yelp
Great produce beautiful and great service Make sure you add the rewards app it saves $$$$

Janelle B.

Yelp
I've shopped here for years and have always been more than satisfied with the selection, store, employees, service, etc. The only reason I am even giving 3 stars vs 1, is because of the nice, kind, and helpful manager who helped me tonight. (I believe his name was Michael.) Unfortunately the person who checked me out was SO RUDE! I am always extra nice to grocery checkers assuming their days are long, but this girl wasn't having it. 1. I bought the lettuce that was 2 for $4. She charged me 2.99 and 3.99 for both, even though I told her the prices were listed as 2 for $4. She continued to be very difficult in such a way and made me feel uncomfortable as if I was lying to her or something. Rather than offering to check the price herself, she made me walk over with the bag attendant. I did actually grab 1 lettuce that was incorrectly placed by mistake , so I grabbed another lettuce that was the 2 for $4 price.... Clearly not trying to rob Gelsons of $1, ha, just wanted to pay the listed price for the damn lettuce. She already rung up the items so I asked her how she'd like me to take the lettuce out of the plastic bag, so I could replace it with the new one I grabbed with the attendant. I was holding the thin little bag with both lettuces when I asked her., as I was trying to be conscious of cleanliness.... She VERY aggressively stuck her unwashed hand into it and took it out herself, almost making it so I dropped the bag entirely. Prior to this she rang up several other people, handled cash, and obviously did not have clean hands. I didn't say anything but could NOT believe she did this. 3. I asked for the receipt while she continued to ring, and as if I was dumb, said... "what receipt?" -- The one that's about to print out, obviously. So, so petty. To end this long annoying story, when I got home I realized she charged me for 4 lettuce bundles, when I only purchased 2. I was so in awe of how she treated me, and very annoyed by this point... So I got back in my car and drove back to get a refund... which I normally would never do but I when looking at the receipt I realized I paid $25 for a pound and a half of grapes. The manager was lovely and took care of me without question. Gave me the refund slip and of course I end up in her line again. I handed her the slip along with my original receipt (assuming she was would need it to process the credit) and again, ever so rudely, she said something along the lines of "why are you handing me this receipt, I don't need that, and was just flat out so rude. It sounds so petty typing this but I just couldn't believe how this person treated me on both occasions. She was heavier set, had very short/buzzed hair, and also had some tattoos. I have never seen her before and I most certainly will never try to purchase 2 for $4 lettuce ever again. Overall I am pissed I had to inconvenience myself by going back when this shouldn't have even been such a game of such back and forth in the first place. She needs to learn customer service and to be nice to loyal customers. Hire better people!!

Yelp
Gelson's is fancy, friendly and full of uncommon deliciousness. My wife and I travel from Ventura to shop the wonderful deli and the Viktor Benes Bakery located inside of the Gelson's in Calabasas. I usually drive, because my wife's medications have absolutely no affect on her terrible driving. She gained a certain level of infamy among Santa Barbara traffic police in 2018 when she tried to parallel park in a roundabout, which violated vehicle code and the basic laws of geometry. There are usually a number of fancy cars parked in the Gelson's lot. Grandpa used to say that "being a person who's lucky enough to have an opportunity to accrue wealth and possess expensive material things is like being a pig-in-a-blanket [his favorite dish]; sure you're wrapped in wonderful dough, but inside you're still a weenie like the rest of us." In his wise estimation, expensive things only insulate you from life, they don't encourage you to embrace it when they become an end in themselves. As kids, we didn't understand any of that. We just let him talk so we could get permission to grab a fistful of butterscotch hard candies from his cupboard. Only later in life did we appreciate his wisdom, and the serious dental ramifications associated with regularly consuming fistfuls of hard candy. Grandpa's final piece of advice that "you should never loan a bloated flounder a yellow bicycle unless you expect to pickle your shoes" was admittedly puzzling and more than a little weird, but still powerfully enigmatic. Towards the end, Grandpa frequently wore a western-style bolo tie and a pair of old swim fins when gardening in his back yard. Disturbingly, in the warmer months that is all he wore. We dreaded the summer squash harvest. At first Mom insisted that we pretend he was clothed so as not to embarrass or upset him, but you can only complement a man's bolo tie so many times and in so many ways. Eventually, we entirely avoided going into Grandpa's backyard during the summer months and, to this day, I'm able to look only into the eyes of someone wearing a bolo tie - and nowhere else. I picked up some of Gelson's wild caught skinless flounder fillets, mini-crab cakes from the deli counter, and a fantastic apple torte from the bakery - each made to perfection. Thank you, Gelson's!

Yelp
I like how clean and nice this store is. But the prices are really high! I understand that in rich neighborhoods you can have also more expensive stores but this one makes Wholefoods look like Aldi's...

Yelp
As someone from a state where Gelson's doesn't exist, I was a bit apprehensive about gambling on this store. After my first experience with Gelson's (on Franklin in Hollywood), I knew that they stood for quality. This pertains to both the products carried and the personnel they employ. Sadly, many items I can find elsewhere with a much more economical price tag... I say sadly because I love shopping there for specific hard to find items, and Gelson's profit margin loves when I shop there as well. So, why four stars? From my experiences ... OUTSIDE: Their parking lots have been well lit, free from litter and the shopping carts are never all over the place making the lot as burdensome as a USMC obstacle course. INSIDE: (You're only a good as your worst employee) I have met nothing but the most polite, professional and well-trained/informed employees and it's those employees that keep the store spotless. (Cleanliness is next to Godliness) I am a stickler for the highest of sanitary standards, whether it has been the ladies wearing gloves while cutting cold cuts or just the fact that the floors are kept clean and the aisles free from hazards. Great job. Before I end my review I want add two things - STANDING ROOM ONLY?: I have never been in a Gelson's during their busiest hours... It is always later in the evening, just before closing. So, I have no idea how many checkout lines are open when the store starts filling up but, that's one of the things I don't like about Walmart. The Sam Walton crowd gets to witness 20 to 30 checkout lines in existence and only five employees actually jockeying the registers. FLAVORS I FAVOR: Of the reason I enter Gelson' s, the things that draw me most are as follows: Boar's Head premium meats & cheeses. Dr. Bronner's Peppermint/Eucalyptus Soaps. The grand assortment of flavored cheeses. Hot and cold items from the deli. Cookies from their bakery. Wolfgang Puck Express Their inventory of international items.

Yelp
Gelsons is my kryptonite. It's just too awesome. The produce is so beautiful, and it is displayed with such care and artistry. They have the standard fruits and vegetables, but add to that a wide range of special, rare, unique items as well. I like how they stock organics, heirlooms and exotic fruits and vegetables. Their produce tops even my local farmers market. I think l would still go to Gelsons if all they had was produce. But no, they have so much more. They carry ethnic, heathy, imported, and locally made small batch items as well. Many of their products are not available anywhere else, in my area. I was once looking for the perfect BBQ sauce and the nice young man working at the store showed me his favorites. OMG, they were so good. After trying them, l could see why he had 3 favorite BBQ sauces. Such selection, in sauces, spices and even salad dressings. They have an extensive selection of cheeses, and wines. Such nice friendly workers that happen to be serious foodies. Just ask and they tell you their favorites. When you ask where something is, they take you there, offer suggestions and ask if they can help in any way. They really are genuinely helpful and passionate about food. I often think, they must have grown up shopping at Gelsons with a parent, all the while dreaming to one day working here. Yes, they are that excited about their work. Gelsons has a full salad bar. They have lots of items to select from. There are lots of dressings, but ignore them. Try the Ranch Dressing, it's the bomb. Got to try it. They have a Wolfgang Puck deli with tempting to-go foods. Don't tell anyone my secret, but you can pass this food off as your own for dinner parties or pot luck dinners. I told the clerk my plan and they said "happens all the time" They added different vegetables to one dish, to make it look just a little different. They rotate dishes, based on the seasonal ingredients, so there's a nice variety. That Wolfgang, sure knows how to cook. Bless him. Gelsons is great for picking up picnic food for the Hollywood Bowl. Fast and excellent food, to really enhance your evening. My "to go" place to get food for a Malibu beach picnic.....just add the sunset and you have a perfect meal. Gelsons has a wondeful, European style bakery inside. It has marvelous lace cokies, a princess cakes filled with martzipan, cookies, fruit tarts, petit fours, and the indescribably light, fluffy, miracle of a strawberry shortcake. They love the challenge of making a cake in an odd or unusal form. Need a frog shaped birthday cake? Or a giant butterfly? How about a dolphin cake? Go ahead challenge them, they absolutely love it. They carry nicer cards, and gift items as well as really nice flowers. Their chocolates, jams, jellies and teas make lovely hostess gifts. Picking a gift is made hard by so many attractive options. Gelsons is a superb market. But they do have all the basics as well. I love their veggie wash, paper plates and household cleaners. Especially nice is the essential oils added, sweet smelling household cleaning solutions. Everything they sell, just seems a little more excellent, than other stores. They take pride in their store and it really shows.

Yelp
This is a classy market. They have absolutely GORGEOUS fruits and vegetables, top of the line prepared food counters, and a great bakery. I don't do my regular shopping here, but for an occasional lunch, I come here. While each of the stores tend to slightly alter what they offer at the prepared food counters, I tend to prefer the Calabasas location, but they are all good. I usually get their tuna salad, a little greek salad, and some fresh fruit salad, which always seems to be in season, with consistently sweet flavor, year round. This is a pricey market, to be sure, but you get what you pay for here. It's worth it. Their bakery, Viktor Benes, boasts some beautiful cakes, cookies, and other delectable items. Not only do they look good, but they also taste good.

Yelp
Gelsons is the ultimate in Grocery shopping. They offer the finest quality produce around. I like the layout of the Calabasas store. The deli and salad bar are always a favorite. The turkey chilli is amazing with Gelsons corn bread. They always carry whatever specialty item you need. Fruits and vegetables are never seasons here. The market can be expensive but worth every penny. The fish counter has a nice selection. The jumbo shrimp are the best and they have a great cocktail sauce. Large selection of cheeses and patte. Artichoke spinach dip is delicious. The gift section has nice Caspari napkins and holders nice decorative accents for a party. Victor Benes bakery and Wolfgang Pucks inside too. Staff always provides excellent customer service. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot.

Yelp
I was so lucky to get the rudest checker. I believe his name is Jessie. Black slicked back hair and had a big issue taking my recycling ticket. The whole store was having an issue tonight. Don't you realize there is social media? Your actions don't go unnoticed in the 21st century.

Yelp
I always shop here as it's on my way home. Tonight I was starving so I stopped to pick up a cooked chicken. But when I got home I realized it I got was more cooked then I needed! Oh well, won't be stopping there again! I can't believe they would package a chicken that burnt.

Yelp
After shopping at the Calbasas Gelson's for over 20 years, I have finally had enough of the rude, and obnoxious mangers that are at this store. Yesterday, Thursday , Feb 11, I was standing in line to check out next to the managers desk, and remembered I was supposed to buy soda. I turned to the manager at the time, ( around 4:00pm), and asked him what aisle the soda was on? The first thing out of this rude person's mouth was, "Could you put your mask up and cover your nose". Not even a polite, "Please". More like "do it or else" kind of response. What a grumpy guy. I was offended and thought what a rude person. It fell down when I was drinking some water and I was more then happy to put it over my nose if it made him feel safe and happy. Then I asked again, " Where is the soda aisle?" He ignored me and put his head down as if he wanted me to just go away. Then I asked a third time, he finally decided to respond in a very "annoyed" with me manner. Not very helpful or friendly after he "Dominated" over me with his mask demand, which I politely and immediately followed so he wouldn't feel endangered. Aisle 10. Then he ignored me after that, didn't even volunteer to have someone show me where to go, just pointed and ignored me. If the managers at this Calbasas store have this type of attitude towards paying customers, this is not the store I want to spend my money at. And it is an expensive store. I don't shop to be harassed dominated by an unhelpful, unhappy employee. I don't care if he's having a bad day and wants to take it out on the customers, or if he has certain political viewpoint. I just want to shop and be treated respectfully as a person and a customer. I did nothing wrong and followed the mandate. He was being overly rude and dramatic. I am all for making people feel comfortable and safe, he carried his rudeness to another level. I'm now going to the Reseda Gelson's where frankly, they are much more polite and treat people with respect not distain. I'm Done with that place!

Yelp
Like it cuz it's not nearly as crowded as the other grocery stores in the area. Also very clean, spacious, and staff is friendly. My only complaint is that they always cut their Brie (fromager d'affinois) before it's ripe. I put this in their feedback box online about 6 months ago but nothing has changed. It's really frustrating. I always have to go to a separate grocery store to get it because theirs is always too firm. I also wish they had a better/more expansive chocolate section. I wish they had brands like Lake Champlain etc Edit 2 months later: They still cut the fromage d'affinois before it's ripe. It's basically un-sellable
