I recently visited the Gelson’s near Griffith Park (the Silver Lake location) and decided to order their prime rib sandwich, which I’ve enjoyed before. Unfortunately, this experience was quite disappointing. After requesting the prime rib sandwich, the employee suggested a brioche bun, but I asked for sourdough. The bread ended up dry, and then the sandwich was toasted without my request, which overcooked the prime rib. To top it off, horseradish was added even though I didn’t ask for it, and I wasn’t offered other condiments like lettuce, tomato, or mayonnaise. Besides the food issues, the service was lacking as well. The employee seemed to have a poor attitude throughout the interaction. While I don’t expect everyone to be cheerful all the time, the level of service really didn’t align with what one would anticipate from a place known for high-quality offerings. If the staff are having a rough day, that’s understandable, but it ultimately affects the customer experience. At a $21 price point, I expected much better. I hope management takes note of this, as Gelson’s has always been a go-to spot for quality

Google
I love and appreciate this store! They have genuinely caring staff. Everyone I approached for guidance responded kindly and followed through to make sure I got what I was looking for. Although non-sale items are not exactly in my budget, I feel safer shopping here for their sales items and store brands. My toddler has a better experience as we have fun together going through the aisles and meeting helpful people along the way. No tantrums happen here compared to more stressful environments in other stores. I also witnessed management very hands-on, humble, and treating staff and customers well. Highly recommended for peaceful atmosphere, healthier variety, and speedy but not rushed check out experience.

Google
nice cafe seating in the bakery people enjoying their lunch and coffees with friends. Extremely helpful staff members. A surprise! I thought I paid forty dollars for my Gelsons Insulated picnic bag. I looked at my receipt when I got home, it was only $4.31! The checker said that at checkout but I thought it was my imagination. It was true! A very nice bag indeed.

Google
Too expensive for staple items but if you're in the area and want something fancy it's a fine place to go. Very well maintained and stocked. I was very disappointed with the bakery selection though the produce was excellent.

Google
For the love of all that’s holy- PLEASE get self check out!?! No one wants to be treated like vermin the way the cashier- you know who- treats your customers. We don’t pay for this abuse. Shopping is already a stressful experience- either replace her with someone who doesn’t take all her 68 years of misery out on customers or do something so they can avoid the vile way she treats your customers.

Sun came out today—finally! That golden hour hits, and suddenly everyone’s thirsty. Locals swing by to catch up on the day. That’s the kind of bar this is.

Google
Lots of parking, tons of options, very clean store, amazing staff in the deli. Delicious food. Highly recommend and will definitely return to this location.

Google
moved from northern california about a year ago and this store is right by my house which i thought would be so convenient. first impression was it’s basically a safeway just way more expensive but worse produce quality?? the workers are alright they obviously don’t wanna work but at least they have good customer service and can help you!! besides that one cashier i think her name is ana? EVERY SINGLE time i come in she is always on cash which after talking to my friend she’s been there for multiple years and seems to work full time so there’s no missing her, she is so so rude it’s truly shocking how rude and unprofessional she is. before making this review i looked through the current ones and the amount of bad reviews about her make me question the management here. seriously?!? after about 5 visits with her being so mean where i was truly speechless, i would try to avoid her but there’s been about 2 times i’ve shopped seen her at the register and i will just leave my cart and go somewhere else. i haven’t been there in 4 months because i REFUSE to go if she’s there’s. i suggest either a) firing her or holding her accountable because i bet you she is one of the main reasons you lose business and b) get self checkout so people dont need to deal with her nasty behavior!

Yelp
My first time at Gelsons after visiting Pavilions yesterday. Now this is a pricey store. Not Pavillions. But I looked up their careers and they pay their employees so I appreciate that. Starting wage is livable in this area and it's harder than fast food. Anyway. Their prices for typical things at other stores are higher for no real reason. They have an awesome bakery like Pavilions too. So I got an unplanned breakfast since my friend flaked on me. Coffee was actually good, better than chain coffee, and croissant also bomb for being a day old (hey I'm on a budget, that stuff has to be eaten by someone). Prices still reasonable here but this is definitely a store for rich people. Good service.

Yelp
I placed an order through instacart and the store cancelled it for no reason. What a waste of the customer's time!

Yelp
I love this little Gelson's market and bought watermelon and pastries for my godmother whi I visited today in the area. I also bought some really weird matcha drink. Easy check out and parking was okay even though the parking lot is small.
google avatar

Scott O.

Yelp
What has happened to this store? The prices are more than many of their competitors. The staff seems like they are angry and unfriendly and can't bear to be asked any questions. How they are surviving in this time of horrible inflation is a miracle.
google avatar

K S.

Yelp
Food is fine. It's convenient because it's close to home. Some of the cashiers like Anna are a waste of my time. I avoid her at all cost because she's slow and is not present at all.

Yelp
We ordered a pizza half pepperoni half veggie. When it was dinner time we found a long hair baked into the veggie pizza. It was disgusting. I called the store and the manager said throw it away and come back for a refund. We paid with debit do not sure why it could not be done by phone. We drove down there and got the worst attitude from the manager. I think they said she was the manager at the little desk in the middle of the store. Then we got a voucher and got in a line to receive the refund. Never going back here again.

Yelp
Overpriced for the same products. Outrageous prices for produce, Trader Joe's has better quality. Gelsons is ALWAYS understaffed too, why are these corporate monsters pocketing all the money? Worst grocery store ever. SCAM!!!
google avatar

Shelli T.

Yelp
worst customer service at the register. I come here weekly and the workers are super rude and snappy
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
My closest market, and my most reliable for good produce, great bakery (Victor Benes) and full selection. Prices are high, but they mail out $5 coupons and also have a reward program that will discount prices. I get my staple goods from Target or Vons, but I'm lucky to have Gelsons for quality food.

Cyrani A.

Yelp
Convenient. Totally overpriced. Especially when you think you're paying for amazing service and quality. Quality is ok. Service is lacking. Cashiers are usually so busy socializing with eachother, they can't be bothered to get you through quickly. Baggers often don't know how to bag.

Yelp
I used to grocery shop here more often in the past, but I stopped when I decided to go to the "cheaper" grocery stores. Just recently started coming back here again because I knew I could find different and interesting types of food here for dinner. I love their soups. It just tastes better than the ones at Vons. LOVE their tomato soup. Their soups were on sale for $5 for a while if you bought two any flavor. Many options to choose from if you want to buy hot food or salad. Their aisles are fairly wide. Very clean and neat looking shelves. I wish they had more people working the checkout stands though. Even better, I wish they had a self-checkout aisle. The customers that shop here are definitely different than the ones at Vons next to CHLA. Just a different vibe. Plenty of free parking in a shared lot.

Yelp
The importance of the bare minimum of customer service. Gelson's -- nice market. I grew up in Silverlake, my parents still live here, and Gelson's is the market we frequent regularly. That will change, Tonight at 6:15, a cashier named Anna was irritated that when she got to the customer in front of me, said customer had pushed her cart in a spot where Anna could not pull her cart through. She rudely tells the customer to move her bag of groceries, which the customer does. After the customer puts her bag back down, Anna proceeds to take each grocery item out of the bag, and in disgust, slams each item down or upturns each one. And she does not offer to help the customer bag her groceries. I'm sure Anna was having a bad moment. I called in to tell management to send her home. Because A) Gelson's you charge too much for your employees to be treating your customer's groceries in a way that they are bruised or mishandled. And it's ridiculous to see my neighbor's groceries being handled that way. If you're having a bad day, take the day off. SHAME ON YOU ANNA and Gelsons for telling me they could not send her home, and I could call the main store manager back on Friday. This is essentially vandalism of a customer's food. Think twice before you ever do this again!

Yelp
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and outrage over the unacceptable behavior exhibited by two Gelson's employees at your store on 10-18-23. The incident occurred while I was attempting to enjoy a meal that I had every intention of paying for. I have attached photographs of the employees involved for your reference. On the aforementioned date, I visited your store and decided to purchase a "Create Your Own Poké Bowl." Due to the extreme heat outside, I chose to consume the food inside the store. As I was about to take a bite, two employees, whose names I unfortunately do not know because they failed to disclose it, approached me abruptly. Without any warning or explanation, they forcefully grabbed the food out of my hand and callously threw it onto the floor, causing a scene that attracted the attention of other customers. To my shock and disbelief, one of the employees then proceeded to snatch my cell phone out of my hand and intentionally threw it on the floor. This aggressive and unwarranted behavior was not only completely unjustifiable but also resulted in damage to my personal property. Furthermore, I was accused of theft without any basis or evidence, causing me significant distress and humiliation in front of other customers and store staff. I would like to emphasize that at no point did I have any intention of leaving the store without paying for the meal. I was fully prepared to settle the bill once I had finished eating. However, due to a sudden drop in my blood sugar levels, I felt an urgent need to consume the food immediately to avoid any health complications. It was under these circumstances that I made the decision to eat prior to paying. The actions of your employees have caused me immense emotional stress, embarrassment, and anxiety. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism and respect displayed by individuals representing your esteemed organization. Such behavior is not only reprehensible but also raises serious concerns about the training and supervision of your staff. I insist that immediate action be taken against the employees involved. They must be held accountable for their actions, and I strongly recommend that they be terminated from their positions. I am preparing to take further legal action to ensure that justice is served. I trust that you will handle this matter with the seriousness it deserves and provide me with a prompt response detailing the steps you intend to take to address this situation. Failure to do so will leave me with no choice but to explore all available avenues to seek redress. I would appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and a response within reasonable time frame. I can be reached at the contact information provided above.

Yelp
Wow! I had a pretty large order here at this store and was a little stressful at first! but so glad there is always positivity and friendly interaction w/assistance and even nice gestures w/bagging details not initiated especially from great associates like Omar here at this location!! Greatly appreciated! Gelson's market Is always one of the top on my list! period.

Sergio Z.

Yelp
My experience normally at Gelson's is neutral, but the manager Vivi is very nice and helpful. She went out of her way to help me. Thank you, Vivi!
google avatar

Yelp
We all know Gelson's is where you go to pay 20-40% more for stock items you can get almost anywhere else. They do have very pretty looking produce that varies between very expensive and absolutely obscene. I once almost purchased a single mango for $18!! Thank god I caught that in time. Mangos were in season......it wasn't organic....it just was.....$18!! I guess it's the service, the wine bar and the bakery that justify the markup. That's why my recent experience at my local grocery store was so surreal. I was checking out and at the end of the exchange the gentleman says....." I know who you are.....and you're not welcome here. This is the last time.......I know who you are. You can cut your hair but I recognize you...." I had no clue what he was talking about but clearly he was certain I was somebody that wasn't supposed to be there. I don't know what he was certain I had done or who I was.........but it wasn't me. It felt surreal at first but then it really made me angry. There was no inquiry as to my identity.......he just kept saying I know who you are and you do too.....you can shave or cut your hair but it's you. It was bonkers. I would totally boycott the store but I live a block away and I can't get everything I need at Trader Joe's. Their service style was aggressive, accusatory and projected paranoia. I've been shopping there since 1998, before it was even Gelson's. To have this crazy stuff happen blows my mind. Ready the reviews, I see a similar pattern when it comes to service. I'm a fairly successful musician and have also acted a bit (a few national commercials....) I obviously don't think that's what he meant by "I know who you are........" Perhaps he's just trying to do his job well but to acuse somebody of something or to so blatantly mistake someone for somebody else is a bad move. Law suits have been waged over this exact kind of behavior. Perhaps the next time I'm in the store we can resolve it but it's mostly my resolve to not shop here anymore that has been fortified. My wallet will certainly thank me‍ Please do better.

Yelp
I love shopping at Gelson's because they provide premium quality items but the 2 ladies at the cashier are NOT - they always seem like they are angry at the world or mad at me!? Their names are Danielle and Anna - they have never been friendly and nice to me. I stop shopping there now because of them! There are other friendlier supermarkets in Silver Lake.

Pony R.

Yelp
I would give this store a zero if I could. Don't shop here, Store is very expensive which is fine that's their thing but almost every employee especially their cashiers are just awful and they are tenured employees. I've tried giving this place so many chance and every time I leave thinking the employees are rude. If you're going to rip people off at least do it with a smile.
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
If you want to pay at least $2 more for every item shop here. Otherwise avoid. Also if you do shop and something is on sale you would have needed to sign up on the website for their rewards program. So yeah.... Really the worst grocery in town if you ask me unless you need some wild vegetable to make your dish look pretty. Otherwise you can get everything at any other store for so much cheaper. I will Give it 2 stars because it's a beautiful store with perfectly stocked shelves.

Yelp
A little pricy, but what i really like about them is the fresh breads and excellent selection of cheeses. They have some wonderful cheeses. One of the bries i tried in their own packaging was out of this world. I have tried a few items from their sweets bakery on the otherside but none of them were any good

Yelp
Great people working there the best customer service here . I recommend the variety of dishes and products here to choose. I highly recommend this to take a visit,.

Yelp
I used go to the wine bar a few times a month. I've stopped going. Lately there have been some troubled people who camp there for hours who bother other customers and ask for free drinks. Its not fun anymore.

Yelp
I need to say good-bye to this location :( Since 1997, I love Gelson's! Newport Beach, West Hollywood, Century City, Silver Lake/Los Feliz and La Canada Flintridge. I still love Gelson's. *** I'm a regular here (Silver Lake/Los Feliz location) since 2006, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic I have been only shopping here for my grocery until April 30th, 2021. I had three-time horrible experience during this COVID-19 pandemic by the crazy bagger (Jennifer). Enough is enough... I need to stop shopping here for my safety. *** After I reported about Jennifer's poor customer service to the office (See below my email to the office), Mr. Lance Wong (Sr. Director of Operations) of Gelson's gave me a gift card ($30), so I went back to this location on April 30th, 2021, I selected my favorite cashier Lilian (I didn't realize that the bagger was that crazy one again)... and then, Jennifer did horrible thing to me again. She intentionally made holes on my bread package and spaghetti package, because I reported about her poor customer service to the office. Now I know why... my Filet mignon package also had a hole last year... at that time I thought that happened by accident... it wasn't. See attachments images of the damage goods and the gift card from Mr. Lance Wong (as an evidence of these incidents). By the way, Lilian, Anthony and Bebe are the best staff at this location. Good luck with everything to them! Below is my first email to Gelson's. ******** ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: YOKO FUJIMOTO To: Gelson's Rewards Sent: Saturday, April 17, 2021, 04:25:40 PM PDT Subject: About the Asian female bagger at Silverlake location. from Yoko Fujimoto Hello ***, I hope you are doing well. Today, I need your help again. Would you forward my message below to a customer service manager and all store managers? *** Today (April 17th) around 10:00am, I had a really bad experience by the Asian female bagger. She was working for the cashier Daniela (by the way, Daniela is a great cashier, she is very professional). This bagger touched my coffee (Tony's) all over (she seems like interested in this coffee? ), and then she touched her facemask by her hand, she removed her facemask by her hand, and she touched my coffee again with her dirty hands and sniffed my coffee!!! Very gross!!! I had to wipe my coffee with a wet cloth so many times when I came home!! At that time, I asked her "what are you doing?", and then she looked upset with me, she turned around and didn't look at me. Very bad customer service. Even though I told her when I leave, "I hope you understand what I was concern about, we need to be careful with each other for COVID-19", but she ignored me. I'm so shocked. I don't know why she sniffed my coffee without her facemask, but her behaver is very dangerous for COCID-19. Please let a customer service manager and all store managers know about this. And please let all store managers know "please educate workers, especially baggers who don't have good education, how to take care of customers and be careful with COVID-19". By the way, I also had a bad experience by the other bagger (also Daniela's bagger at that time, Daniela remembers what happened with me, and I also reported about this to the store manager/I forgot her name, a Chinese female manager that day) a few months ago. At that time, the other bagger told me that "you shouldn't use so many plastic bags. you shouldn't use it for ice-cream". I told her that "I use plastic bags for some wet stuff", and she still told me, "you are wasting of plastic bags". She was very rude to said that to me/customer. Yes, I'm a clean freak and I might use plastic bags more than other people, but many baggers put some dry goods and wet goods together in the same shopping bag, so I need to protect my stuff from it. And they (most of baggers) usually ruined my dry goods with wet goods (long time ago, I asked the store manager to educate baggers how to put products into shopping bags). Anyway, please send my message to a customer service manager and all store managers. I love Gelson's, because products and staff are the best. I can't compare to other supermarkets. Gelson's is the best! Thank you for reading my email, and thank you for your time and help. Stay safe and have a good one. Best regards, Yoko ********

Don S.

Yelp
The prices at this Gelson's are extraordinarily high. There's a Trader Joe's right across the street and a 365 Whole Foods about a 1/2 mile away. I plan to start shopping there. I would be willing to pay higher prices if the service was good but it's deplorable. Tonight, there were two check out lines open and there were 15 people waiting with grocery carts in each line. The assistant manager sitting at the service desk was completely oblivious. The cashiers are actually surly. Not friendly. Lots of attitude. There is just no value in shopping here. I'm tired of paying exceptional prices and getting poor service. You'll be shocked at the prices if it's your first time.

Yelp
Gelson's has really expensive rotten old fruit and vegetables. The last time I came here the onions were old and the cucumbers rotten. 2nd time I came here I got $8 rotten cucumbers again! I took a picture of them this time to prove it. Even the $1 dollar store has better fruit and vegetables than fancy, Gelson's. Not making the mistake of buying fruit and veggies from here again.

Lenny H.

Yelp
i'm not going to complain about prices - it's gelson's in the rich kid district like be for real - i am however going to complain about the ATROCIOUS customer service here. Dan and the redhead in the meat department are the only nice regular people working here. Every other check out clerk??? what is your problem - either your manager is too mean or too lenient - i'm unsure why they're so uppity to their customers like SO sorry i needed to buy something here. Jack - you're so rude, care about your job bud, it's a grocery store, that's means 80% of the customers are regulars - see ya next week asshole.

Yelp
Located in the heart of the hipster HQ for all of planet Earth this is easily one of the cleanest, nicest, well thought out and abundantly stocked grocery stores in all of Los Angeles - comparatively Sprouts would be one of the few places that is a tier higher than this specific Gelsons. This is the quintessential "upper middle class Caucasian grocery establishment" you won't find many EBT card users here and don't come here looking for bargain coupon sales. Prices are $1.50-3.00 dollars higher than say Ralphs and easily $3.00-5.00 dollars more than a place like El Super for the exact same product. I don't see those as negatives tho just pointing out what you can expect when you electric slide your way into one of the cleanest nicest grocery stores in the city. Pull out that cash or get ready to write a hearty check like you know white people love doing cause if you can come here and not spend $80 dollars on 2 half full bags of groceries I would be shocked and honestly that just isn't a possibility here. Organic strawberries? $8.99!! Tortilla chips made in Mission Viejo by a guy named Harry, $7.99!! Organic brownies ? $9.99!! Spend that money and leave with some of the highest quality groceries you can buy... damn it feels good eating Gelsons food you really feel like you're a somebody after spending that much money on stuff you could have easily gotten for $25 dollars maybe even $35 dollars cheaper anywhere else (except Sprouts) party on Wayne !! Party on, Garth !!! (4 stars because of the expensive nature and pretentious customers)
google avatar

Yelp
The prices at Gelson's are insane. And no, you don't pay for what you get because it's the EXACT SAME stuff as Whole Foods but marked up about 150% or more. Not everything is marked up this much, but everything is marked up at a little with some things marked up a lot. They do send out coupons to those in the neighborhood for $5 off a $25 purchase, but that only gets the price down 20% and only if you spend exactly $25. Examples - Great Range Ground Bison Brick, 1lb: Price at Whole Foods $9.99 (And it was on sale last week for $6.99) Price at Gelson's $16.99 Pecorino Romano Cheese: Price at Trader Joe's $8.99 a Pound Price at Whole Foods $14.99 a Pound Price at Gelson's $17.99 a Pound KerryGold Butter: Price at Sprouts $4.79 Price at Gelsons $5.49 Sambazon Acai Packets: Price at Sprouts, Whole Foods, etc $6.99 price at Gelsons $7.99 The fruits and vegetables are not as fresh or as good as at Whole Foods - they are probably closer to Trader Joes quality - yet they cost more than both. Hmm. What I will say about this Gelson's is it's convenient if you live in the neighborhood (and they are 100 percent capitalizing on this fact) and they have an amazing selection of wine (and even used to do wine tastings). Also, the staff is friendly and there is a parking lot in front.

Yelp
A bit pricey but good clean store. I was se Searching for some blood orange ice cream and they were the only ones who have it
google avatar

Franklin M.

Yelp
We needed one onion to use for a dinner dish we were making so I didn't mind coming to this expensive market. The only issue was that one out of the three onion types they had were the only individuals for sale the other two were in bags. I also bought a Stumptown cold coffee bottle since Starbucks was closed next door. There were no lines and a quick check out but the lady cashier didn't even say anything not a hello, good bye, or thank you for shopping here. Minus a star for customer service.
google avatar

BFLY O.

Yelp
Thee worst customer service experience ever! I've been to many diff Gerson's and this was just awful! There was no one in line at the deli like 6 workers and no one would help me they looked at me no one even said hello! There was a worker putting food on the outside shelves of deli and I asked her a question and she's like sorry I'm out to lunch I wish I can help u! Wtf!!!! PISSED ME OFF HONESTLY!!!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Vibe here is not positive lol Love Trader Joe's and Whole Foods more Came here because I so crave sushi and saw they had a poke bar..but man, looks like they discriminate. Like I don't belong there...don't get me wrong I'm a secure person but I totally can sense vibe really well.. Won't be returning or supporting the company as I feel the staff aren't welcoming, unhappy and almost discriminating feel ( could it be I'm Asian?) Peace to you all I'll take my money and business elsewhere and share my experience to friends.

Kate S.

Yelp
Always busy. No express line. Considering the prices at this store the customer service is not good. Always waiting in line to buy a few items.
google avatar

M S.

Yelp
Overpriced and non existent customer service. Had a $15 refund with receipt that they didn't even entertain looking into- just turned me away. Cool! You keep your $15 and lose a customer to Trader Joe's across the street and all the other grocery store options down the road. Bai!
google avatar

Liz W.

Yelp
We love Nikki at the gelsons ! We had a delightful lunch and she was a great hostess !! Who knew on a Tuesday gelson had the bomb lunch bar?
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Wow, no thank you! Came here for a quick shopping trip and was thoroughly disappointed. First of all, everything is 10 to 20 percent more expensive than at a Vons (which is already price-gouging.) But then you don't even get high quality goods or service. Had to pick up three apples before finding one that wasn't bruised or rotten. All the lines were closed except one, with employees milling about. The cashier was rude and barely said a word to me while bagging. And the total was $30 for cereal, milk, two apples, a single yogurt, a single small probiotic and popcorn. Go across the street to TJs for better service, food and prices. This is pathetic and insulting.

Yelp
Alicia was very nice to me and gave recommendations to try she was very attentive and always smiling.

Yelp
I ordered some food online and the shopper replaced one of the items I ordered. It was a yogurt smoothie. I ordered Stonyfield yogurt smoothies but got replaced with Chobani, when I said no subs! Also, we ordered two plant dish soaps. Please tell your drivers to stop replacing orders or only giving us one of the items when we ordered two. Stop deciding our orders for us, just because it's not the popular item like Greek yogurt is! Your store is the only place where I can get Stonyfield yogurt. This keeps happening everywhere even at Starbucks where the workers keep deciding what you get even though your the one paying and what again you ordered, and it needs to stop.

Yelp
One of the most expensive super markets in existence with terrible customer service. I called in asking for a basic vegetable and fruit platter for my dad's funeral and they refused to bend on their 48 hour policy. I'd understand if it was some complex catering order but it's literally the easiest request. Thanks for not helping!

Yelp
NOT A 5!!!! I am only putting a 5 in case the bartenders get tipped on the outcome of reviews. Stephanie was my bartender, and she was absolutely amazing. I tried to insist on giving her a tip. She refused. Saying that she was happy to help me regardless of a tip. I understand that the policy has no tipping at this location, but I think it's BS that you will not allow your employees to accept what is rightfully theirs. Nobody makes enough in this country and the fact that you're depriving these individuals of making a little bit more is sickening. Stop giving the rich white folk all the power. Allow those who work hard get rewarded. Shame on you Gelsons.

Yelp
Look no further for fresh seafood in the city. Great quality and fantastic service. We called a few days in advance and Jonny Chavez put our holiday pick up to ease. He made sure we had the best cut of Seabass and the shrimp felt as though he picked each one. Hands down a great experience for someone who doesn't even live in the city!

Yelp
Stephany at the bar was a dream. Never thought one of my most delightful bar experiences would be in a Gelson's. She was so helpful and kind and fun, and our group will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
We were avid patrons of Gelsons Silverlake until recently. The Employees are Not very Friendly nor Welcoming. Their prices have escalated and they lack congeniality so we're shopping around for another place to buy food.

Yelp
Gelson's makes my top three weekly grocery store rotation. I like to go here for the cheese.

Yelp
I just left Gelson's very confused and upset. I was stopped July 29th about my service dog and told that she was not allowed to enter I told the cart handler I had recently been there with her the day before on July 28th. He said they are not allowed, I was confused but said "oh okay" and walked away, with out any argument. My dog is small and has a carrier but she is a registered service dog and not emotional support dog. The day of July 29th I only needed to grab one thing so after being stopped I set a 7minute timer and left her in my vehicle while I grabbed it. Since then I have visited the store without my dog, and without complaining about being stopped. Today, the cart handler who had stopped me on the 29th approached me after I finished my shopping to show me a sign and talk to me about a review that was posted about him stopping people with animals in bags. I do not know why he was stopping me, I did not have my dog. Nor, did I leave the review. This is my review. I do not know if he was stopping me because it's easily to identify me in this area because I am a young black woman. But, I do think it was extremely unprofessional to stop me to talk about a review online. I was confused, but decided to call into the store to inform them of this strange behavior. I eventually walked back into the store where the manager discussed the issue with me, that the man is not racially bias and then asked me if I worked for some food carrier service and tried to give me some coupons. I am very confused by this entire situation and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else, it is very disappointing because Gelson's is my favorite local grocery store and is very clean when it comes to covid. I don't care if that employee continues to work there, just tell him I am not stupid, I can read signs, and I don't think you should be policing customers who are not breaking any of the store laws. I have edited the review to include post of others. Who have been stopped as little as 3months ago.... I was stopped once for having a service dog and once for ... being there with out her and following rules.
