Try Horchata Lattes at a New Dupont Coffee Shop | Eater DC

"Debuting on Embassy Row near Dupont Circle, the Generator hotel's new Café Integral is devoted to Nicaraguan Fair Trade coffee beans and is based on a similar partnership with Café Integral at sister hotel brand Freehand. It will serve 30 different lots, each with distinct flavor profiles, and offers drinks such as horchata lattes, cortaditos, and iced hibiscus pineapple tea, alongside snacks like Legally Addictive Churros. The café opened on August 30." - Adele Chapin

Google
Amanda and Asia give the best customer service! They are always bright and welcoming. I love the cold brew and yogurt parfait personally. Will definitely return even when I'm not staying at the hotel. The outdoor seating is lovely, especially on a sunny day.

Recently stayed at the generator and had a pleasant stay. Audrey at the cafe greeted me while I ordered breakfast. She is such a kind person and very welcoming. Over the weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Asia who also works at the cafe. Her attitude is great and she too was extremely helpful. The cafe is staffed with amazing employees. The food was amazing and the seating outside and inside is very comfortable. Highly recommend anyone who stays here to check out the cafe at least once.

Google
Decent but others photos made it look better. The service wasn’t bad. The atmosphere is great but the coffee and sandwich were just okay.

Came in from out of town for a work meeting. We stayed at the Hilton across the street. Wonderful atmosphere with lots of plants and places to sit. By far, the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. (We got the one with the jelly)

Google
This cafe is run by some of the grumpiest people in DC. I don’t blame them, service job are tough especially when you’re dealing with clueless European tourists but still the contempt the employees have for their customers is palpable, a seething hatred. They seem to get some catharsis through punishing customers with a 16 dollar egg sandwich, a small victory as they plod through the Sisyphean task of continually producing lates. But guess what if you stay at the hotel that houses this cafe you’re trapped. There is a not much around. But it’s worth going down the street for a coffee to avoid this place.

Google
I had the Breakfast Plate on three occasions and it was perfect each time. The staff were so nice and kind. Highly recommend!

Google
Came for breakfast since my hotel’s breakfast was wildly overpriced. Chelsea gave me great service and was very patient with me while I waffled between options and asked her questions. I got the breakfast plate to go. The food was cooked great, but when I turned the avocado over I noticed the inside was moldy. Yikes. Service was great, but I probably won’t be back

Google
They were out of coffee at 8am! Shockingly overpriced chocolate croissant at $8! And it was a really bad one too: dry, cold, flavorless. The espresso I got also tasted burned. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

Yelp
Needed a quick breakfast and there's really nothing around the area. We got 3 croissants and paid more than $24. We have paid more than that for food croissants but they were way better. These were just ok. But then this is a cafe inside a hotel so it's expected to be pricy. The decor is nice and the service was good as well. We have not tried the coffee but would not go there for pastries.

Yelp
I love love when I get a chance to visit DC, and nothing is better than discovering new eateries that the city has to offer. Stumbled upon this cafe located within walking distance of my hotel. I would describe the space as modern-day quaint and not too big or small but just the right size. The decor is giving a unique vibe from the various artwork, plants, and low-key individual work stations. The menu offered various drink options along with many food and pastry options. I decided on an iced matcha latte, which didn't disappoint. The service was pleasant and quick in dealing with the morning rush.

Yelp
First of all, expect to pay $70 for two coffees and two breakfast sandwiches. Next, expect this to take a really long time. I mean like 20 minutes for two sandwiches that are undoubtedly assembled in under one minute. Very unconcerned when they gave out our order to the wrong people. Their answer to me was "do you want to talk to someone?" it would be a service to the world at this place would just go out of business. And though I am a very generous tipper, this is a time that I sincerely regret tipping anything at all.

Yelp
Love this place! I was in the area for a week for week, and I found this spot for breakfast. I'd highly recommend coming here! I've tried their coffee, omelettes, salad and breakfast sandwich. Everything I've tried here was delicious. I can't wait to come back to DC and stop by here again. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking this spot out for breakfast. They are connected to the Generator Hotel; they're in the lobby. They have seating available inside; they also have outdoor seating available for customers. The servers were friendly and helpful. There were also other options available for food and drinks, but I was just looking for good coffee and a delicious breakfast sandwich. I'm glad I found this spot.

Yelp
Poor attitudes from the workers. Long wait time. Out of many menu items at 9am somehow. Cool vibe to the interior but would be improved if the workers didn't give attitudes to the customers. Overpriced. Won't be returning.

Yelp
I'm staying at the Washington Hilton and have been seeing Cafe Integral all week, wondering what visits they might have over there across the street. Today, I finally made it over to check it out. It's clean, swanky and a bit small. And now that I've picked my jaw off the floor from the price I paid for two items, I'll tell you about it. First, I ordered a Chai with oat milk in my personal cup. It was tasty. Not filled to the top of the cup, and not the hottest. But still tasty. I asked for an avocado toast with egg to go. While waiting, I observed that the one person writing continued to offer the same friendly service to everyone. He brought my food to me, where I was waiting, after 5 minutes or so. I noticed utensils in the bag, and gave them back. Perhaps they could just hand them out by request. The avocado toast and egg was GOOOD. While the egg was cooked a bit more than I'd prefer, it wasn't too hard. And the avocado was perfectly ripe and piled high. Yum. And no utensils needed.

Yelp
Happy discovery while staying at neighboring hotel while on professional visit to DC. The cafe's summer 2022 breakfast menu is smaller than what is posted on website, but is wide enough to satisfy anyone's preference. Recommended by the barista (and now me) is the breakfast sandwich, composed of moist fennel sausage, egg, raspberry mustard, and baby arugula on a brioche bun. The coffees are expertly crafted, with the cafe offering some creative iterations, including the horchata latte. Interior and exterior seating overlooking the Generator Hotel entrance ramp are available.

Yelp
$12 for avocado toast? A bit steep, but the other items on the menu seemed normally priced. Having said that the avocado toast was good. High quality bread and ample avocado. Breakfast burrito was also good Decaf americano spot on. Nice and clean space, some outdoor seating. A bit slower on the food than I'd expect for a cafe but nothing crazy.

Matthew G B.

Yelp
Cafe is in a hotel lobby. Wait time can be a bit long, but food is good. Menu is fairly limited, as is seating. Good if you already are in the neighborhood.

Anb T.

Yelp
Really expensive, but everything is these days. Baked goods and coffee good. Small seating area. Woman behind counter very nice.

Ruth C.

Yelp
The burrito came with nothing but meat. They told me there would be beans and there wasn't. Also very small burrito. All for $18 definitely not worth it. Meat was good but would never buy this again.

Yelp
Disappointed. I was hoping for something spectacular and was very underwhelmed. Ordered the avocado toast. $15! Yes, $15! The bread was thick and the avocado scanty. Not worth the money paid. If it had been half the price, I would've tolerated it better. They had one guy working out front. He was very kind but one staff person in front is not enough. One lady came in and stood at the register for several minutes cause the guy working the register left to get my food from the kitchen. There was no one else there to help him. Sadly, despite the nice guy trying to do his best, this would be a "don't recommend".

Yelp
Overall, the coffee shop had a lovely ambiance and aesthetic, creating a pleasant atmosphere. However, the service left something to be desired, as it was not the greatest. The food was merely average, which didn't quite meet expectations.

Yelp
Amanda is lovely! Friendly service and yummy breakfast. Great for anyone looking for a quick and easy morning boost before going into the city.

Yelp
Meh. Understaffed. Service awful. Ordered coffees and a quesadilla. They gave us a number to put on our table. We waited ages and finally got the quesadilla... but no coffees! Then we're told we have to fetch those at the counter ourselves. So we went to find them... not ready yet (15 minutes to make an Americano?). Then the Americano didn't have the requested oat milk... On the upside, my husband thought the chorizo quesadilla was delicious.

Yelp
This was a great, stylish place for a break during a busy conference at the Washington Hilton, which is just across the street. Sure, the Hilton has a Starbucks, but I never can stand the cheap, burnt taste of Starbucks coffee. I loved the delicious coffee here, and would absolutely come back again!

Yelp
I went here a couple times while staying at the Washington Hilton across the street (which unfortunately has Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for some reason). The coffee is great. I tried the latte as well as drip. The latte was phenomenal; drip was good, but somewhat generic medium roast. The breakfast burrito was superb!

Yelp
While this spot had good options, it didn't have the greatest service (coffee and especially the food took a long time). Won't be coming back.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe with great drink and food options for brunch. My husband and I had their breakfast sandwiches, Yuzu honey tea, and Americano which were all delicious. The staff were kind and efficient, too. The environment was also very clean and comfortable. I'd definitely come back and recommend them to anyone in the area.

Linus V.

Yelp
Coffee is good, but pastries are over priced ($7 for a cinnamon roll; $8 for an almond croissant), service is spotty, and the hygiene/cleanliness of the place is off. Three stars are for location and coffee.

Yelp
I really like the name of this café somehow. The place is not quite as hip as its name, but a perfectly good spot, located in upper-northwestern Dupont (is that even an legit geographical description?) I like the fact that the music is very muted, thus, bad music--if that's what it is, I could hardly hear--would not distract. The cappuccino was served in a lovely stone-style cup and the spoon was shaped elegantly/innovatively. This is a café within a hotel, but it didn't in any way have a hotel feel. I only noticed when I saw people wheeling their luggage out the door. Every single person in the café was working on their laptops or devices (like me).

Yelp
Not sure if it's the oat milk or what but this is just bad Good service, looked promising, I think the barista could tell by the look on my face after the first sip, rude awakening

Yelp
Amazing coffee! Coffee is always great and very high quality especially the cold brew. They have great house drinks and amazing South American inspired breakfast food! The Breakfast Burrito is incredible!

Yelp
Terrible service and food is subpar for what you pay. I was in DC at a conference, staying around the corner and decided to give this cafe a try. The Black American woman at the counter, first off, had a very bleak demeanor. She wasn't friendly and spoke to me and other customers, I noticed, as if she were doing them a big favor by taking their orders. Next, I waited 30 minutes for my breakfast plate to come out. It was just eggs, potatoes and bacon. What had happened is the ticket never made it back to the kitchen! It was sitting on the counter! The woman at the counter asked another worker for help, and she ran it back. When the breakfast came out, it was sat in front of me, no napkins or utensils were given. I had to ask the server who brought the plate out. After a few minutes she finally brought the utensils. I then asked for hot sauce. She returned with a cup of hardly any hot sauce. I went to the counter and asked for a bottle but the tall Caucasian gentleman who was at the counter said he would get me a cup. I then explained that I was hardly given any and if he could fill my cup up. He displayed a visual poor attitude and told me to place the cup on the counter. He then stated in a huffy tone,"I can bring it to you." I then sat, he brought out the cup and I ate my breakfast which was mediocre at best. $16 for below average breakfast, bad service and poor attitudes all the way around.

Yelp
Get the avocado toast! And the atmosphere is great for a quick breakfast while working!

L M.

Yelp
Hidden gem with delicious espresso! Love the prosciutto sandwich. Nice atmosphere. A little pricey sure, but you get what you pay for.

Mary G.

Yelp
I ordered the breast burrito which was really good but the cappuccino, matcha latte and croissant were pretty terrible. Not to mention the very tiny paper cup I got the cappuccino in. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Aleia N.

Yelp
Their is an art to making matcha. If it's on the menu then I expect is to be great. The matcha wasn't blended well and the hot mixture completed melted the ice which made it watery and undrinkable. Also the cafe had no straws, so I'm not sure why they were serving iced drinks without warning the customers. I had a get a straw from a nearby 7-11. Not a good experience overall.
