"Gen Korean BBQ House, a California-based chain that touched down in Union Square earlier this month, is among the latest to arrive. The restaurant has more than 30 locations across the country, and in Manhattan, it stays open until 4 a.m. every day." - Luke Fortney

Gen Korean BBQ is such a fun place to come to with a friend or a group! I went here spontaneously with my mom and we only had to wait 7 minutes on a Saturday Night. Not always the case, however if you get lucky it's such a treat! The food is great for a Korean BBQ chain, a great selection of meats and appetizers. One thing that really made the experience a highlight of our week was our server Armando. He was super attentive, always on top of our refills and grill changes and was genuinely nice to us throughout our whole time there. If you get Armando, you'll be taken care of!!

Extremely bad experience trying to pickup food ordered online Had to wait around 20 minutes for somebody to turn up . No crews seemed to be ready with helping except the one that actually delivered my food . Was ordering for the first time so didn’t know where to ask and wheeze to wait. Crews seemed totally dejected from duties By the time I got food it was already cold And guess what we got hair in the food We ordered seven meat combination dish but got only for six(at least I could count only six). Attaching photos for cross reference Giving three stars for service because the guys who ultimately came and gave was super accommodating There were water leakages

Super fun dinner with friends! I read some of the negative reviews prior to coming and I didn't experience any of the problems listed. They were super busy, and we did have to wait, but that is completely normal. Our waiter was very attentive and, for the most part, brought the food we ordered. There were a couple of times we had to remind him of some missing items, but we were constantly busy cooking and eating. We were never waiting around. They warn you 15 min prior to your end time, which is nice. We all loved it and would definitely come back and recommend.

A Standout Dining Experience with a Disappointing Ending I’ve dined all over from Orange County to the Bay Area and I can confidently say that the service I received from gen team was some of the most top-notch I’ve ever experienced in the industry. The attention to detail was impeccable. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, constantly checking in to ensure our food was perfect and that we were enjoying ourselves. The bussers were equally impressive, keeping our table spotless and making the whole experience feel seamless and elevated. The food was outstanding, and I genuinely looked forward to coming back again. However, I must share two points that deeply impacted an otherwise amazing experience. First, I stepped away to the restroom for about 10 minutes, only to return and find that our table had been given away despite the fact that my young son was still there waiting. A manager informed me that our table was “desperately needed,” which felt rushed and inconsiderate, especially given the caliber of service we’d received up until then. Secondly, during a birthday celebration at a nearby table, pots and pans were banged loudly as part of the staff’s cheer. While I understand the intention was festive, the sudden noise triggered my PTSD and caused intense distress, which sadly overshadowed what had been a truly enjoyable meal. Gen the service team were phenomenal, and I want to acknowledge them for making most of the evening so special. I would love to return, but I hope management can be more mindful of these types of experiences in the future to ensure all guests leave feeling as great as they were made to feel during the meal itself.

Came here for a quick meal with my friend and got some of the best service I’ve ever gotten at kbbq! Noah not only went above in beyond giving us reccomendations on both drinks and food. Everything he gave us was incredibly good and it all arrived incredibly quick. He was on top of all of our sides and even the dirty dishes on our table. He gave us his number at the end of the meal so we can get him next time we come! Little did we know we got a flat tire and he also happened to be a mechanic. We texted him and after his shift he came to help change our tire in the down pouring rain. He is not only amazing in the restaurant but outside. I hope he gets recognized for the amazing service he gives. Thanks Noah!

The server took 20 minutes to get back to us every time, the only appetizers we got were the ones we never ordered, and the waiter spilled like 3 different sauces and 4 different side dishes on my jacket. He was super friendly and nice, the food was phenomenal, and overall I enjoyed the atmosphere. 11/10, would come back with a poncho.

Google
I've been going to this gen since they opened in 2017 and it has always been my favorite place to go. The food is great and the servers are always AMAZING... But as of recently something is off. I see the servers are rushing about and most of the time the place seems understaffed so I definitely appreciate the effort, but something has definitely changed. The way they begin to limit things and don't allow duplicate meat selections within one order is definitely an interesting choice and some items have changed. For example, they have Korean fried chicken on the menu, its similar to popcorn chicken with a great spicy/sweet sauce. It had ALWAYS been like that. Last night I went with a couple friends to eat there and ordered our usual items. Service was great as usual, but something was off about the food. The rice paper we got had a bit of a grainy feeling with an aftertaste in the back of the tongue I can't exactly describe. And when it came to my beloved KFC I was presented with a plate I could only visually describe as dog kibble. It was these funky looking nuggets that tasted like cardboard and looked like a sponge. Another thing that has happened on multiple occasions are moments where our orders would be sent out and we wouldn't receive it for 20 minutes only to have double or triple the amount of items brought to our table after kindly asking for updates on our orders. Like I said, service is amazing and I see all the servers pulling their weight but it feels off and just not the same as the gen I had visited in 2017 and continuous times throughout the years up until 2024 :(

Yelp
Busy on time so.... Kelly was our server. He was great. Other servers that wasn't ours still came by to help. Best service we've gotten here so far and been here more than 10 times. Food was good and always fun to cook. Grill switched constantly. Love the diversity.

Yelp
I regularly enjoy eating at Gen ever since trying it for the first time a few months ago. I think their sides are well made and yummy, and everything is really fairly priced! We regularly get the Hawaiian steak, beef bulgogi, premium steak, and spicy pork bulgogi and enjoy all of them. I also appreciate that the food quality is consistent in person and via DoorDash! I won't say it's the best service in the world but every time I've gone they have been super busy and it seems like they could use more staff so that tables aren't abandoned so regularly. As for the space, it's warm and pretty average, definitely expect to leave smelling like meat and know that it does get loud in here! Overall, Gen is a good, fairly priced staple for KBBQ in our house!

Yelp
I have tried their SoCal location, which was really good, so I thought I gave the NorCal location a try. I had their standard lunch AYCE KBBQ. The rice paper size were surprisingly tiny...maybe 1" by 1". I don't remember the rice paper been this small at any Korean bbq restaurants. Additionally, they were already out of the top sirloin just 30 minutes after opening. It was disappointing and a little odd to run out of such a common item so early in the day--something to keep in mind if you're planning a visit. That said, the rest of the menu was pretty good, with flavorful and well-marinated options. The service was attentive and efficient. It's a decent spot for KBBQ, but compared to its sibling in SoCal...this location was lacking.

Sakkara C.

Yelp
Second time here and I'm head over heels in love . Everything so fresh and flavorful and each bite a party in my mouth...It helps to have a gorgeous bf who can cook his ass off and loves cooking for you!

Fiona T.

Yelp
Weekends are flat rates of $30 per adult. They have a lot of appetizers and meat options. I really liked the honey soy beef belly. The woobeasel was also good. Our server was great. He came by our table often to check in on us and we never found ourselves in a moment where we were wondering where he was. Only down side was that they didn't have 12. galbi when we started our meal. They had 12. galbi later on during our meal time but it was a disappointment. The meat was really tough.

Jacob R.

Yelp
(5 out of 5) Great Korean BBQ spot, with very good meat selection, cool appetizers and fun drinks! I'm not huge on AYCE (all you can eat) but this place doesn't skimp on quality, with a great ambiance and a fun service team eating here is great for date night or any gathering/hangout. I've gotten so many different things in their menu, and yes as some stuff aren't the best it's all to your taste, there's 30-40+ different things, and with it being unlimited food and you don't get charged for wasting... if you don't like it, that means you ordered wrong, haha, try something else on the menu. I really do suggest this place, brought my bachelors here when I told them I wanted them in my wedding, me and my fiancé do anniversaries here, and birthdays! When you come tell them Rothyy sent you!!

Allan Y.

Yelp
1st time back in many years, the their meat quality is still the same as I remember. Came in for lunch and the service was good.

Amanat M.

Yelp
Great Korean BBQ experience and pretty affordable (all you can eat for less than $40 for person). Definitely get premium menu which is $20 extra. Also highly recommend mango flavor beer. Food is amazing, staff is fast and polite and interior is clean and nice.

Yelp
I live in Milpitas and since they have closed the one there my family has been going to either the one on Hostter, San Jose or this one in Fremont. I decided to reserve for a big party of 30 this past Saturday two days prior at this Gen Location for my husband's Surprise 40th birthday. I liked that I had the option of having us sit in a separate dining space (the space right when you enter) I reserved two days prior, in you need to go in person to reserve for a big party and sign a form with a deposit as well. I booked for a Saturday and 3pm (best time, not so busy right after lunch crowd and right before dinner time). There was no one else sitting in our area and we pretty much had the side to ourselves. The day of the party we were pleasantly surprised that everything was ready and some meats were prepared already for us to start cooking. You have the option of ordering from their supreme menu but at additional cost. We decided to stick with the standard dinner menu. (Weekends is always dinner menu and price) Nathan was our main server and he did such an awesome job taking care of 25+ people. He got our order right every time and even brought out special requests, like the potato/corn side (they don't bring that out anymore along with the kimchee unless you request it) Nathan was on top of everything and the party went on smoothly. They even surprised and scared our group when they came out to sing happy birthday. We were totally not expecting when they came out. The surprise went off without a hitch and my husband was surprised for his 40th!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here for lunch because I was craving meat, and Korean BBQ sounded like a good idea. It was a weekend, so we were charged for the dinner menu. The service was fast, and I left super full (as expected with Korean BBQ). We ordered a lot of brisket, red wine pork belly, bulgogi, chicken, short ribs, rice paper, and japchae. On a Saturday for lunch, the place wasn't very full, and we got seated right away. In my past two visits for dinner, there was a line. It seems like they had plans for a conveyor belt to bring food around, but they never continued with the concept. We were seated next to the unused conveyor belt, which looked a bit odd. However, the location is good, with plenty of space and moderate lighting. Some plates had corner cracks, but it didn't affect their functionality, just the aesthetics.

Varuni R.

Yelp
Food is ok. Service ok. We were seated where the light over the grill was missing. Didn't realize how important that light is until I started cooking the food. My mom and I couldn't eat our two different chicken at all. It was under cooked inside since I couldn't see well. Over cooked outside. Ambiance is ok. I had an upset stomach later at 1 am.

Mari B.

Yelp
The service started great with little wait time and being seated in a booth. We then learned that we had to move because that spot was reserved, which was no big deal as the staff moved us one aisle over to another booth. The waiter was super kind and explained our options in pricing and meat selections. The first order went smoothly with fast service. The space was amusing with the wall-to-wall screen and chill ambiance with dimmed lighting. We encountered problems when we ordered the second round. There seemed to be miscommunication between staffing as other waiters were bringing parts of our order and parts were lost. This situation delayed so much that we lost our enthusiasm for the food and we left without completing the second order. I recommend you place the next order of meats before you completely finish the first so that there is less waiting time in between. On the upside, the alcoholic beverages were interesting and tasty.

David R.

Yelp
Food: Amazing! Go here for lunch! Worth it! Dont forget to ask for crazy sauce! Service: there are times when its really slow. Ambiance: Dark and loud! Its a party crowd here always! Bring the crew!!!

Yelp
Been a big fan of Gen for a couple years now and love to visit every other month. My friends and I went on a Monday and the total for three people is $102 with one soda and after tax. They have a variety of meat to choose from and the quality with the quantity you get is outstanding. Seasoned to perfection, tender, and flavorful. Dishes came out almost as fast as we ordered. However, the service was inattentive and dismissive, but I can tell our waiter was highly busy. Over time, he seemed to become a lot more attentive and respectful so it's not something i'd nitpick on too much. The ambience is beautiful as always in Gen. Perfect for a night out with friends or even a date. Although, be prepared for your hair to smell like BBQ after. This place is a must go if you're new to Korean BBQ, definitely coming here again. The Soju cocktails are so good as well!

Yelp
This location does not take reservations. We walked in a little after 7 pm on Thursday. The hostess said there was a 30 minute wait, but we ended up only waiting 15 minutes-ish. Our server, Taylor, was super nice and accommodating. He brought out our meats and sides in a timely manner. He knew when we needed a grill change several times. The quality of the brisket was alright. We loved the Galbi and pork belly. The music was not too loud, and they were playing the NFL games on the big screens. Bussers were fast at removing our empty plates. Always a good experience here.

Ariana A.

Yelp
It's very clear that they treat tables differently based on age. My party and I are almost in our 30s, but we were wearing clothes that you may typically associate with college-aged. We were sat at a table and the waiter/host walked away. 2 minutes later, he sat a family, gave them plates and utensils and took their drink order. The entirety of our time there, the waiter would check in on the family in front of us, the ones to our right, skip our table, and check on the family behind us. Not once were we checked on unless we called the waiter over ourselves. As for the food, the meats are the typical flavors you would expect at kbbq. We also ordered the spicy tofu soup, but it tasted like tomatoes and water.

Rachel H.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been to Gen, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of meat and service! We walked in at dinner time on a Monday night, and we only had to wait a few minutes before being seated. Our server, Xavier, was great. Gen has a rule where you can only one order of one kind of meat at a time (ex. 1 order of brisket per meat order), but he was kind enough to add it to our next round of meat to make sure we were getting the amount of meat we wanted. Some highlights of the night was the premium steak, the hanjungsal, and the honey soy beef belly. I'm not usually a fan of marinaded or saucy meats at AYCE KBBQ because it tends to burn on the grill, but the honey soy beef belly was so tender and had an amazing taste when cooked well. It was sweet and savory at the same time, and we ended up ordering it more frequently than the regular beef belly. The only bad thing was the rice paper. It was warm and hard, which really aren't characteristics that rice paper should have. The ends weren't even chewable because of how dry and hard they were-- it could chip someone's tooth if they aren't careful. It's clear that they microwaved it, so do not order at any cost. I still give Gen 4 stars because everything was pretty good. Would definitely return!

Yelp
Food is always good here. Lots of appetizers to choose from, and it came quickly. Great value for ayce. They expanded their menu for an additional $20 premium , you get carne asada and more premium meat. Service is great and they changed the cooking plates constantly.

Jay M.

Yelp

Yelp
Overall cant complain! Have been going to this Gen since I think high school so its always just been a staple for me. Its one of those reliable places for sure when you're craving kbbq, dont want to pay too much, dont want anything too fancy etc. The only downside of the place sometimes is that they could be running a bit slow. However, the staff overall are really nice, hospitable, and knowledgeable of their menu and items!! Must haves for first timers: -Hawaiian Steak -Beef Brisket -Beef Bulgogi/Spicy Bulgogi -LA Galbi -Popcorn Chicken -Rice paper/radish paper -If you go anytime soon since I've posted this review, MAKE SURE to try the soy honey beef belly!! its my favorite. -Also, get the hotteok for dessert.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Gen is a good place to get simple ayce. The meats are average quality but you do get a good variety of meat cuts. I came here on a weekday with family and it wasn't too busy. We didn't have to wait too long to be seated. On some days, service can be a little slow due to how busy it gets, but our experience this time was pretty decent! No matter what time of day it is, it's still pretty loud with the music. I'd say this would be a pretty good place for large parties especially if you're planning on drinking!

Haleh H.

Yelp
Ambience: This place is busy & happy. They could do some house keeping though making the place cleaner... Service: while our waiter was so attentive and really good at bringing us our order or swapping our grill frequently, there were few things he never got to, like brining us a 2nd tong - we asked a couple of times to separate raw & cooked meat (going back to cleanliness). Food: we ordered a variety of meat and they were all really tasty, specially for the price. Some of our favorites were pork riblets (pre-cooked), bone-in short ribs, garlic chicken, premium pork belly. Yum!

Matthew E.

Yelp
Our hostess gave us chipped plates, and didn't know where to seat our party of 8. She sat us in a small booth, where our shoulders touched. We politely asked our waiter Joshua L if we could seat somewhere else and he did not accommodate us, so we were stuck with our snug seating arrangement. He tried giving us extra sides we didn't ask for, like he was lazy to walk it back to the kitchen. The smoked pork belly and bone in short ribs were my favorite meats. Loved pairing them with pickled radish. Even though the food quality was good, Joshua didn't come and place our orders often, so we didn't get to eat often. We constantly felt ignored, like our water cups. Waiters are supposed to notice and offer refills especially to wash down kbbq. Instead, he noticed and often reminded us how much time we had left. And since I didnt get to eat often from the lack of service, of all my Gen experiences, this was my first time I NEEDED a "last call" of the 2 hours to get myself full. Overall, we were disgruntled and were happy to pay and leave Gen.. and our empty water cups. Despite a bitter experience by an incompetent waiter, I'll still come back but pray we get a different waiter, not Joshua. Rather wait longer for another table.

Yelp
noah omg. amazing service deserves a promotion immediately. made ys feel like hsi friends and we were so comfortable and enjoyed our dining experience!!!

Princess J.

Yelp
We love coming to this place!!! We get the best service from our favorite waiter Josh. Highly recommend ask for him! He is very attentive and gives good recommendations. I recently tried honey beef belly and it was so yummy! Tried the spicy belly too it was yummy. Thank you Josh for being such a great waiter and giving our family good service. We love bringing friends who haven't been here before to this location! We highly recommend this location over others. We went to the one in Oahu and it wasn't the same.

Brythnie Michelle H.

Yelp
This experience was made amazing by our server Justin Dinh. He definitely flipped our last experience! He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and wanted. My brother's lemonade refill was forgotten and this man ran to get it for him. He literally was just so amazing! He took care of us and went the extra mile to do so that you honestly don't see anymore.

Monica M.

Yelp
Price point is fair enough to give a few stars. Came in a large party of 20 for a family reunion and couldn't get water or soda for the first 1.5 hours we were there. They ran out of cups. I didn't understand how an AYCE restaurant would run out of clean cups... causing our whole party to be parched for 1.5 hours - they have the AC on blast to a point that our flame was getting blown out by the breeze and we had to wait a bit for meat ordered to arrive to put on the burner. I was also shocked to go to a korean BBQ spot that didn't offer corn and cheese - instead a cheese katsu was the alternative... but not quite the same. They were super busy and hard to flag down a server - it was extra loud inside and couldn't really hear conversation across the table unless we were midway shouting. I think the no drinks for the first 1.5 hours really hurt the experience. Can't really reflect much more aside from that and our fire going out because of how hard the AC was.

Chantha S.

Yelp
We walked in on a Saturday .Noone was around to seat us. We waited 15 mins, still no-one. I can see employees walking around but No-one acknowledges us. I had to go to the bar and ask the person making drinks If anyone was working up front?lol We finally got seated, took forever for our water than another 20 mins to get our order, than another 20 mins to get our first batch off food to grill. It was overwhelming trying to be patient and nice at the same time. It wasn't the waiter fault because he was helping like 8 tables that I can see. They need more help. It's incredibly busy. My kids hated it they said next time can we just eat where we don't have to cook our own food? Lol food was just ok, I wanted veggies to grill but all they had was bell peppers and onions.:( Kids wanted Korean pancakes and it took another 20 mins after paying the bill:(

Nancy D.

Yelp
It's a great place. But we go there often. The waiter informed us no radish wraps. The manager seemed not interested in our concern. It's the only staple we eat with the proteins " the meats " The main thing is the manager said oh they did not get defrosted

Breana H.

Yelp
Love coming here. They always have great music playing and staff are good about changing out your grill plates and checking in frequently for ordering items. My fav item in the menu is there Korean style ribs! They are very tender, and have the perfect amount of spice. I tried the peach Soju pouch. Very tasty but strong.

Nhi N.

Yelp
I recently dined at this location with my family and the food was alright. However the service left much to be desired, which ultimately overshadowed the dining experience. Unfortunately, our server, Joshua L., demonstrated an alarming lack of professionalism. Despite the restaurant being busy, I was shocked to see him and other servers were watching TV instead of attending to their tables. It felt as though our presence was completely ignored. When he took our orders, there was no acknowledgment or engagement; it was as if we were invisible. We tried to get his attention multiple times, but he walked by us without even a glance. Throughout our meal, he failed to check on us, and we found ourselves having to flag him down repeatedly. I've encountered bad customer service before, but this experience was beyond disappointing. I understand that busy nights can be challenging, but that doesn't excuse treating customers poorly. This was my first visit and regrettably, it will also be my last. I would much rather drive a little further to a different location where I can receive better service. I hope management addresses these issues, as the food deserves a more attentive and professional staff.

Gavel L.

Yelp
If you are craving meat and wants an eat-all-you can Korean barbecue experience, you gotta try Gen BBQ. It gets really busy here on weekends with wait time over 60 minutes sometimes but it is well worth the wait. I have been to numerous Korean barbecue with family and friends and I still come back to Gen. Their ambience is pretty cool with the big flat screen that plays either live games or music videos and the led lights decor is always fun for kids. The meat here are well seasoned. The prices are just so worth it! Service is always good here. The staff are obviously trained very well to give you that good experience either as a couple or a group of 15! They are attentive, and not rude even if they are swarmed with guests. They constantly check up on you, your orders, your hot plate and even your drinks. If you crave protein, try this place out!

Ileana M.

Yelp
The options are great and endless. But I have encountered this way too many times at this location. They're kind enough to bring you another one until one doesn't do all that bubbling. Not ideal if you're taking someone on a first date.

Betty C.

Yelp
Our dining experience at GEN Fremont was delightful, largely thanks to JJ, our exceptional waiter whose attentive service elevated our evening. He consistently checked in on us, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. However, we were taken aback by the changes in portion sizes; what used to be a standard serving now seemed like a double portion, and several side dishes such as potatoes and lettuce were noticeably absent.

Joy S.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite AYCE KBBQ spot when I was younger, but I returned recently and it seems like the management changed. The meat portions were definitely cut down, not as fresh, and the service was subpar. Some servers would just leave plates on our table when we didn't order it and we had to ask multiple times for some orders :(

Danielle L.

Yelp
Service has gone way down the past few years. This last trip was essentially the last straw (which we never got with our water that took 10 min to arrive). It all started when they said it would be 20 mins to get seated when it was actually an hour. I don't mind waiting but at least tell me a more accurate wait time. The waiter never came by to check in on my table, unless you count hollering at the table to ask if we are okay. We eventually had to flag him down to get a round. The first thing we got was bowls of rice. It took around 20 mins to get 1 plate of food. Then 5 mins more to get 2 more plate. Then another 10 or so mins to wait for the rest of the food for round 1 which came with round 2's meats. Quality of meat has gone down as well. Most meats are all fat and portions sizes are inconsistent. Now you have to request the 3 sectioned plate with the oil and salt. Overall this place is shell of what it used to be. Even during the pandemic they had great outdoor service but now unless you're in a big group you won't get any service.

Celeste L.

Yelp
It's been a while since we've had dinner here as a family. We were a little hesitant on having dinner here tonight, because the last few times we've eaten here it took our servers a while to get back to us. They always seemed overwhelmed and frustrated. Tonight, we struck gold with our server, Armando. He was attentive, friendly, professional, and checked in on us quite often. We felt taken care of. The family and I felt like we were visiting a relative's home. That's how Armando made us feel. Made sure all of us, especially our kids were taken care of. Many thanks!

Frances L.

Yelp
Updated review. Gen used to be my favorite AYCE in the area, but their service and quality have definitely declined. They're still very popular with long lines during peak hours. They used to be worth the wait, but not after our last visit. They were out of many meats and the radish slices. Service was slow and it took a long time to get our waiter's attention. The quality of the meats have also declined. I don't think I'll be back after this last visit.

LeeLee C.

Yelp
Convenient location and big place, but they don't take reservations for big party, you have to walk in and wait, so plan ahead for big parties. Service is ok but a bit short handed. We went for all you can eat which is great price! 28.95 per adult (cut off age at 10) including salad, rice and everything on the menu except drinks. You have to make sure your order is delivered as in our experience some of the dishes we ordered did not come. The thinly sliced beef belly dishes are all good which they have varieties of different marinations and spicy and not spicy, the garlic chicken is great and we love the salad and the sweet red bean pancakes. Sadly the red bean cake is the only dessert. The meat choices for dinner overall have enough varieties, everyone can get something they like. The brisket slices even it's thin cut is a bit too chewy, go with beef belly. There's no lamb on the menu. For all you can eat, the premium steak comes slow and they will stop providing after 3 orders. The ribs are also the same, which by the time we noticed it on the menu and tried to order they said it's not available but it was only 7:30pm. They bang the pans loudly for birthday celebrations, so be prepared to be surprised by sudden noises.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night with a party of 6. There were so many people (as expected), but the wait was actually not too bad. It was about a 30 minute wait. Our server was patient and friendly. Meats were solid. I wish there was a wider range of appetizers to choose from, though. The interior is nicer compared to other locations I've been to. There's a large screen in the main room. Downside is that it can be difficult to find parking in the plaza during peak hours.

Yelp
My second time at this location. My first time was Mother's Day during covid restrictions and I shall spare sharing that outdoor experience. I have lunched several times at their San Jose location. That being said- The lunch and dinner service are all the same. Except for the $10 price difference. We came to this location on a busy Sunday afternoon, were seated promptly with a party of nine. The hostess was most gracious in storing our birthday Mochi Donuts in their refrigerator. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will always come back for special celebrations!

Yelp
We were there for lunch on Thursday, it's $20 each person, which is a great deal, we ate many type of meat, rice cake, clear noodles, veggies and many more. Very satisfying and the service was great too. The review was bad especially on the wait time to get food, I was glad that we visited the restaurant during weekday, where we don't have to get in waitlist and the service was quick. My favorites are: spicy pork, honey soy beef belly, beef bulgogi, red wine pork belly and their house salad. I used the lettuce leaves from the salad to wrap the meat, it's refreshing to eat meats this way, less guilt

Yelp
AYCE. Please upgrade to Premium as the meat selections like Waygu were worth. Don't eat the pancakes or Japchae early but grill meat early. I would recommend ordering lots of stuff early as meat/rice service was slow. GC were so handy.

Yelp
Wildly understaffed. Our server covered a quarter of the restaurant while working the front desk. Be ready to wait 15+ mins per order, or not get it at all. We waited so long for our place settings after food arrived that I just walked to the kitchen and got it myself.

Yelp
This is my go to KBBQ spot in the bay area. It's usually not as busy as other Gens around dinner time, and I am able to get seated in a timely manner once my table is here. Service is all around a 4/5, sometimes it is spectacular and sometimes it is just okay. The meat cuts all cook really well and don't cook rubbery or dry like some other kbbq places. This is a large location, with two main dining rooms and a bar area. I've come with a party of 6 sometimes and have been seated with only 1 grill, which makes cooking and eating really slow. For parties larger than 4 or 5, I'd recommend they seat with 2 grills. They do have the "special sauce" here, which is a combination of brisket sauce, chili oil, garlic, and green onions which makes my mouth water. I always order the beef brisket and pork belly, and the spicy tofu soup. I love getting radish paper as well. Overall, a solid choice for a gen, but service and table seating/placement could be improved at times.

Yelp
This has to be hands down the worst service I have ever had at this place. Used to come here because it was good-ish service but this is not the case anymore. Feel embarrassed that I took my three coworkers here and we had an awful experience. Clearly they are understaffing because our one waiter was getting tackled every time he showed his face. Asked for rice 4 times nothing. Asked for radish wraps 4 times before it showed up. Took 20 minutes for them to even light our grill and 30 for them to even ask what we wanted to drink!

Yelp
I came to celebrate my son's 22nd birthday. Victor was our server and he was the best. Victor was kind with all of us, he was actually funny and polite. We were a party of 15 people and he was on time with our food and not only with us but he was helping many more people and he was just excellent person with a unique customer service. As a mother I was so happy that my son and family got a good time. They came and sing for my son and it was very funny. They make my son feel very special and that's priceless. The ambience was perfect and I totally recommend this place to all. Thank you and thank you Victor.

Yelp
Went there for a birthday celebration with friends and had the dinner selection. All the meats were delicious! There is a 2 hour time limit, but the service was really slow. We received our meat and rice at two completely different times. Granted it was the dinner rush so I can sort of understand. At the same time though we were just ordering raw meat so I was a bit confused as to why it took so long to receive our orders since we would be the ones cooking it. The ambiance is low lighting and there was a soccer game on as well as good music. Personally for the price and the amount of food we got, it's definitely worth it! I definitely want to come back during their happy hour!

Yelp
My colleagues and I come here usually twice a month for the lunch special and we recently had a memorable experience. The tablet ordering system was down when we came in so our server had to take our huge order by pen and paper. Despite this, our server Steven was able to provide us the same quality service. He communicated right away about the issue and assured us he would do his best to accommodate us. He constantly checked in on us and his teammates also provided him great support. After all was said and done, Steven made sure we left full and in efficient time since we are limited because we are on lunch for work. By the time we left Johnathan and his team were able to get the system operating and the transition back to the tablet was unnoticeable. We really appreciate the service and hardwork from the Fremont Gen team. We'll be back soon for the lunch special!
