Shihlin Taiwanese Street Snacks Opens at SF Stonestown Galleria | Eater SF

"I learned that 2540 W. El Camino Real will reportedly become the Mountain View home of Gen Korean BBQ House, the chain’s sixth Bay Area location. The place is described as a clubby, new-school, grill-it-yourself Korean barbecue offering all-you-can-eat beef, pork, noodles, and more, with some fusion elements like Hawaiian-style steak and cajun chicken." - Caleb Pershan

Gen Korean Barbecue delivers an experience so exceptional it borders on unforgettable. From the moment you step through the doors, the atmosphere immediately sets the tone—warm, vibrant, and polished to perfection. The space strikes an ideal balance between energetic and comfortable, creating an ambiance that makes every guest feel like they’re in for something extraordinary. The food is nothing short of remarkable. Every cut of meat arrives impeccably fresh, richly marbled, and seasoned with such precision that each bite feels like a masterclass in flavor. The side dishes are equally impressive—thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and replenished with enthusiasm. Every selection from the grill is elevated, indulgent, and consistently outstanding. Service is where Gen Korean Barbecue truly shines. The staff manages to be attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without overwhelming, and genuinely warm in a way that enhances the entire dining experience. Plates are cleared promptly, recommendations are spot-on, and every interaction feels intentional and professional. In every category—atmosphere, cuisine, and service—Gen Korean Barbecue surpasses expectations so thoroughly that “excellent” hardly does it justice. This is a place that transforms a simple meal into a memorable event, and it is absolutely worth revisiting again and again.

Service was not good. As soon as we got seated, waiter spilled the banchan with barely an apology. Quickly wiped it and after we ordered, food took a bit of time to arrive. Pork belly was tough, and bulgogi was the only notable meat. The appetizers were not well prepared and the calamari was almost burnt; bulgogi fries seemed quickly prepared. When we ordered extra rice from another server, it took them nearly 10 minutes and then simply slid it onto the table with no words — extremely rude. Overall, food was alright at best, and service made the place have an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Google
My fiancé and I swing by every few months. We usually only have to wait about 10 minutes to get seated, which is great. As for the food, it really just depends on the server—sometimes it zips right out, and other times it takes a little longer. Overall, if you're thinking of trying Korean BBQ for the first time or taking someone out for a special occasion, I think it's a decent spot. Just don't expect a five-star experience—it can get a little hectic, especially if they're short-staffed. That said, they generally do their best to give you good customer service.

Google
Best place to enjoy a good meal with family and friends. Service is amazing, food comes out fast and servers are very aware of your needs. Diana and David are so friendly, they take great care of us and even remembers our orders. They are a great example of amazing customer service ! You get 2 hours for all you can eat and let me tell you . . It keeps going until you can’t eat anything anymore ! You leave full and satisfied for your k bbq needs. A must try is their crazy sauce, you’ll be hooked! Stop by and try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Google
Do not upgrade to premium, it’s really not worth it. Check my pictures to see how a"premium" beef would look like. Also, their premium beef tastes bland, just like plain meat with no aroma at all. They also often run out of certain items. Today they didn’t have beef tongue, which they should have told us before we upgraded, but they didn’t. It feels like they’re trying to scam customers, so please beware.

First time AYCE KBBQ solo! I was traveling for work was craving meat after the gym and decided to give this a go. I was a bit worried about some of the reviews that said service was super slow. I didn’t have that problem though. It was semi-busy, but they did seem under staffed. However, it was clear my server David A was hustling to cover as much as possible. Despite him being very busy, he was polite, friendly, and professional, and moved with a sense of urgency. So, I didn’t experience the slow service that others have written about. I ate quite a bit, and I bought the premium AYCE dinner. Honestly, it’s still mind blowing what you get for the price here. There are some meats that are better than others, so it does take some experience to know which meats are a waste of time and stomach space, but once you know what you like, the value you get for the price especially in this area of CA is hard to beat. Leaving here happy and full. Thanks

Google
Pretty good kbbq for the price. Decent cuts and good flavor. Service was okay considering they're so understaffed! Pretty sure they only had 2 servers for the whole place when we went. It got to a point where our group started feeling bad asking for things because those poor servers could not get a break! Despite this, everything came out pretty quick. Hoping they figure out their staffing problem.

Google
The service is really horrible. First of all, It took us 20 minutes to get seated as the server has not arrived at the restaurant so we cannot be seated. Lame excuse. The restaurant is large but most tables are empty. The server is very reluctant to provide service, rush us to order. They delivered all the dishes at one end of the table and asked us to pass it down. It is an amazingly poor experience.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to Gen Korean BBQ to celebrate his birthday, and we enjoyed our experience with a few caveats: 1) they forgot our sides a few times (for corn cheese and potato salad), 2) the grill change time was a tad long, so we were left inhaling the smoky fumes for a while, and 3) the host left after putting us on the waitlist and after a new one arrived, he seated multiple parties that arrived after us immediately. I don't think this is necessarily the fault of anyone, this location does appear to be understaffed. It didn't make our dining experience downright unforgivable, the food is great. I like the new bulgogi fries and I appreciate that our server allowed for me to try it in a smaller portion than anticipated on the photo preview! Love the brisket and beef belly here, definitely the best cuts of meat that I can eat over and over again. I always have to get the salad, some potato salad, and some japchae on the side to balance everything out. My boyfriend got a lemonade as well. Overall good, the meats didn't take too long to come out and we managed to end the night with a bang! PS: If you pay with a Costco gift card, you should bring cash to tip. You are unable to tip on the gift card and to tip with the credit card they would need to ring up a new transaction for you, which would be difficult since the price of the item they are selling you would already be built into the system and wouldn't go to them... That's just my assumption! TLDR bring cash to tip if you bring a gift card to pay for your meal with.

Yelp
Dined here recently with some friends to celebrate a buddy's birthday on a Friday evening. For a party of 7, initially we had planned to use the Yelp Waitlist feature to join 30 minutes prior but realized that afternoon that for parties 7+, you actually need to call the restaurant for a reservation. I called the restaurant 2hrs before our desired time and was glad a reservation was available. I also requested a table with two burners with our larger party. We were all seated promptly at check-in at a large long table with two burners. It took a while before our waiter showed up to take our drink and orders. We opted for the premium AYCE for an extra $20/person which made it $50.95/person. The meats were fresh and came out pretty quick. They gave us plates of "rice paper", similar to the flat rice noodles at Asian restaurants. The thinly sliced wagyu and short ribs were great! The green tea salt went well with the rice paper and grilled meats. The premium also includes one drink - some of us ordered a pint of Kirin while others went with Soju. The restaurant was clean and spacious with plenty of parking out front and back. While the premium did give us access to the selection of wagyu meats I'm not sure if it was worth the $51/person. Like others have mentioned, a few items we ordered were also missed and we had to them multiple times... items like extra kim chi, kim chi fried rice, etc... the mandu we ordered never arrived. Service was OK.

Yelp
One of the servers called in sick and as a result, there was only 1 server covering 20 tables. No forks or cheese corn available. Food, water, and any items requested were served at a snail's pace or not at all. Never going back to this location.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was ok but the overall experience is the worst ever. Today we went there and the front desk told us delivery was delayed. They emphasized most missing items were appetizers and the delayed item would be there in about one hour. So we still decided to get in. After sitting down and we started to order, we were told most all-you-can-eat items are unavailable: no sea food, most beef were gone, essentially there were only pork and chicken. After the first round (one plate per person) we decided to take more Hawaiian steak but after total of 3 plates we were told they were all gone (we have 5 people so 3 plates isn't that much, given the plate size is small). We then ordered some more sliced beef brisket but what we are pretty sure what we got were pork not beef. After a while the entire menu only has #4 (the so-called beef brisket but in fact pork) and #9 (beef bulgogi) available. It's awful that only two out of 30+ items on menu were available. We then asked when the delayed items would arrive, and they said it took an hour for the items to arrive and it needed another hour to defrost. WTF?! Why didnt you tell this upfront? They were just treating customers as idiots. We ended up ordering more #4 and #9 but soon we were told #9 were all gone and we can only have #4 which we don't like. The overall experience was so bad I strongly recommend people to stay away from it.

Yelp
This place will be out of business soon unless new management buys it. One guy serving 10+ tables. Nobody at the counter to greet us. Grills don't stay lit, we got moved two times. Third table -- all we did was smell gas. Best part was when the server let me know "the owner is broke" We left without eating after being moved 3 tables and the grill wouldn't stay on.

Yelp
better quality meats, and sides than other places in the city. I really like the fans that stop the smoke from becoming too much. Can see why this place was packed. For a better experience, I would try to go during a less busy time. Was a little loud and couldn't really hear the music, but that's expected during a busy day. Also really loved the soju cocktails. Tip: mix the drink to spread the syrup

Yelp
Quick take: zero customer service We walked in close to lunch time on a Sunday. There were staff serving customers that were already seated. We waited by the front counter for 5 minutes and no one came up to the front to seat us. We left and went to Tofu House. This place was dead at lunch time on a Sunday. Definitely glad we didn't eat here. Didn't have this type of experience at the other locations.

Yelp
Honestly would put 0 stars but can't really annoying this place is always low staff and always out of beef belly honestly think it's probably better they close this location and relocate it. really starting to wonder why they can't find good workers and good inventory manager. The one star is for the server that was very professional. He earned that respect

Yelp
Honestly, Gen was one of my go-to spots to get cheap KBBQ around the Bay Area. There were multiple locations around the South Bay, but nothing beat the Mountain View location since the servers were nice, the portions were filling, and it was ALWAYS busy. However, times have changed and Gen really went down hill. My husband and I came last night because he really likes Gen for KBBQ and we both enjoyed the spicy tofu soup here previously, but last night really changed our whole experience. This location was not busy at all. We were able to walk up to the counter, tell the hostess how many were in our party, and we were seated right away. I didn't catch our server's name, but I can't fault her for anything tbh. Since we've been to Gen a handful of times, we already knew what we wanted. Price for dinner is now $30.95* (this can change) and they have a premium menu for $20 more per person. I was like meh, we don't really see anything that's enticing on the premium menu, so we stayed with regular dinner price. My husband and I ordered the following: -Brisket -Pork Belly -Pork Cheek -Cheese Tonkotsu -Mandu -Korean Pancakes -Galbi -Beef Rib Finger -Spicy Tofu Soup -Beef Belly** I'll mention a comment about this at the end -Rice -Rice Wraps Honestly... where to I begin lol MEATS: -Brisket: If you saw how sad this plate was in real life, you would be appalled by what you got. You used to get an abundance of brisket, but I understand that with COVID + inflation, you have to cut back a bit. We HARDLY got anything on the plate and it was lack luster. Even cooking the meat was unpleasant and it was SUPER dry. I DON'T recommend getting this here because it's not worth it at all anymore, and brisket is typically the #1 most ordered!! -Pork Belly: Our table did not have the best heating plate. The flame went out twice and we got a HUGE slab of pork but the table did not heat hot enough to cook it. My husband and I looked at each other and we were like.. it's like 0.5" thick LOL HOW CAN WE COOK IT IF OUR TABLE ISN'T GETTING HOT??? It was still raw by the time we were switched to a different table, so we didn't end up eating it. -Pork Cheek: This one took just as equally long, but this was ok when we were able to eat it. The portions are SUPER small for this. -Galbi: This was probably the top meat of the night although they gave us thinner slices. It didn't take up too much time to cook, but the marinade was alright for the most part. A bit thinner in sauce, but decent. -Beef Rib Finger: these were decent too. Thick slices, but small portions as well. They only gave us like 5 pieces of this and it took awhile to cook based on our table. -Beef Belly: initially our server said they were out of beef belly, but magically had it at the end of the night. We only got like 4-5 thin slices and when we cooked it on our table, it definitely shriveled up and turned into a chip. Not the most pleasant experience with this meat. APPETIZERS/SIDES: -Spicy Tofu Soup: Unfortunately they changed the recipe for this!! It was more filled with zucchini than tofu, no shrimp as part of the soup base, and it was not as spicy as before. It was still good, but not as before. Sad because we thought this could be a saving grace to our meal, but we were disappointed as well. -Cheese Tonkotsu: Honestly this was reaching to point where it was almost burnt. The cheese inside the pork was ok. The meat was somewhat juicy, but the breading was a bit more toasted than usual. The sauce that's paired with the tonkotsu was too strong of a flavor for the pork cutlet. Super disappointed with this. -Korean Pancakes: I kept seeing this one being brought out and wanted to try this out. This was probably one of the best things I've tried all night. The pancake itself was mochi like and the filling inside was a thicker paste that had some cinnamon notes to it. Definitely a saving grace, but not enough to get me to come back. Honestly disappointed at the experience I had last night at Gen. The food was so lackluster than other locations and it didn't seem as lively anymore. I would recommend getting KBBQ elsewhere.

Yelp
I havent even started eating yet but after 20m sitting down, we finally got some water and a menu to start looking into what we want. The service is terrible, esp the guy in the front. He didn't offer any menu when we walked in and asked us 'you need a menu?' when we asked for one after sitting down for 20m. That's some attitude there. Honestly won't recommend this location and pay for this service.

Sasha A.

Yelp
dude what the frea umm the service was awful. i asked for a bowl of rice several times and it never came, a new grill was needed and they came over five minutes later to tend to our completely charred grill, the bulgogi fries were cold and served only after we asked about it the third time, the "bulgogi" had the texture of ground beef and was borderline flavorless, the check came a solid 15-20 minutes AFTER we completely wrapped up eating, that's how negligent they were of our portion of the restaurant. The lighting is nice but the service is garbage.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this Korean all you can eat bbq. Only $21.99 for lunch the best value you can't find anywhere. Service was little slow because of short staffing. Meats were very good and appetizers were delicious. Definitely will return soon.

Yelp
It was personally my first time coming here, but we wanted to bring our cousin visiting town to this spot before she left home. The ambiance is cool and the service was pretty good too. Service was a bit slow during a few times we waited for our rice and sides. But nonetheless, loved the food especially the bulgogi. The potato salad was surprisingly small (didn't expect it to be that small lol) and the cheesy kimchi fried rice wasn't bad, but there was no cheese on top? Was thinking maybe they mixed it in the food, but was a pretty basic dish. Still a good time with my family and appreciate our server for helping us and being chill
google avatar

Yelp
It's upsetting to give this review but first we went in and it had a burning smell and other similar places we've gone to don't have that smell. My family and came here to wait 10 minutes to be seated, when the place wasn't even packed and they had the staff to help. I say this because the staff wouldn't make eye contact with us a couple times. Right when we sat our server came to us asking what we wanted to order.... Keep in mind this is our first time here. We asked for menus and they only gave us one when there's 4 of us. At the end we just didn't have good service so we decided to leave.

Yelp
Went for Monday-Thursday Lunch Special Food - 5/5. I have only visited a few of them, but I found that the food quality at this particular Gen's was exceptional! Brisket was cut thin and had just the right amount of fat. The premium steak was of a good thickness that allowed you to cook it to a medium rare, resulting in a delicious, meaty cut of steak. The marbling on it was great and it had a fat cap that you can easily enjoy or remove. Daechang was well-marinated in the teriyaki sauce, which was just sweet and salty enough to liven up it's richness. Cheese tonkatsu was crispy, loaded with creamy cheese, and the meat was surprisingly tender. It was a fun texture addition to the meats, with its own unique flavor as well. My biggest surprise was the dwenjang soup, which was a better representation of Korean soup flavor than most other Korean restaurants! It had an amazing blend of flavorful broth and perfect spice level that makes Koreans go "Ahhhh.... this is it!" for when they've found an excellent soup. It was an absolute rice thief and the perfect finisher for your BBQ meal. Service - 3/5. There was only one server and unfortunately he wasn't very organized. The service flow just seemed careless as nothing was prepped be it sauces, banchans or water. I'm not sure how busy it usually gets, but there were plenty of diners at the time, so it looked unprofessional to be so hectic. This lead to us getting items out of order, such as the sauces and banchan coming last. At the very least, almost everything we ordered did come out, so we enjoyed our meal. Value - 5/5. They offer a lunch special of $21 that includes plenty of meat options, appetizers, and soups. Even as a chain restaurant with nation wide branches, their food quality is top notch and even surpasses a lot of other restaurants. All that for such a reasonable price range is an absolute bargain; one of the best lunch specials in the area! Parking - Mall Lot (Free)

Yelp
One thing I appreciate about this location and all the other Gen's is my daughter who has food allergies can have a safe dining experience. If you have a gluten/soy allergy, just order the non-marinated meats. We like Brisket, Beef belly, and pork belly and rice. If you're worried about cross contamination, I recommend to wipe the inside wall of the grill before the grill gets too hot. Unfortunately there isn't a sauce or dip that is allergy friendly. Not even sriracha. Long wait times to get seated, long waits between rounds, server nowhere to be found, forgetting items in my order, under whelming portions sizes. I get that these things happens, but it seem like these things always happen at this location. For wait times, my assumption is this is a staffing issue. So i can't really get upset because I know how hard the restaurant industry works and how much they have to deal with. However we didn't get our waters until halfway through our first round of meat so that was a little irritating. In regards to forgetting things in my order, something was forgotten at least once per round/order. I asked for a few items in the first round and didn't get it until the 3rd round. I also got large portions and small portions of the same exact order in different rounds which can get a little annoying. Personally i don't mind the wait to get seated. I do however wish the wait times between rounds wasn't so long and that I didn't have to continue asking for the same things over and over because they were forgotten. I do find myself coming back to this location often, and I'm guaranteed to come back again.

Yelp

Yelp
Came here on a week night for dinner with my family. Thankfully it wasn't packed so it was a more enjoyable experience. The pork belly and pork jowl were so good. I wished they had more banchan but the ones we have gotten were still pretty good. We got two big bowls of salad and tofu soup as well which is great since I didn't eat much rice. The LA soju michelada beers are so amazing! I hope they bring these to our Korean supermarkets soon! Overall, food was good, restaurant was clean and the staff were nice. 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Sheila J.

Yelp
Compared to everything in Mountain View this is the best place for a special occasion. The prices are pretty good. I like the bone-in ribs and the Hawaiian steak. Minus one star because they are always out of the hot food sides. They did warn us ahead of time that they didn't have the hot food sides but it's still lame. The best part is there's lots of parking!
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
This place went down tremendously after just a couple months. They even raised the price too! Main issue: understaffing. Annoying things: 1. Ordering 4 items and getting only 3. Consistently like that. 2. Not offering grill change when it's already black. 3. Not offering water refills, had to ask manually. 4. Slow service, waited 15 mins each time 5. Ordered a hotteok and they removed my grill and turned it off. Hey! I still want to continue eating more. Ended my meal early here. There are better Korean BBQ in the area. This is the one to skip.
google avatar

Angel L.

Yelp
We went on a Friday night, and there was a 30 minute wait. The other reviews mentioned slow service, but that wasn't the case for us at all! Being nice to your servers goes a long way :)) We ended up getting 11 plates of meat, 1 plate of vegetables, and the japchae appetizer; we liked the bulgogi the most! It was marinated and very flavorful.

Yelp
I came in on a Tuesday at 5:00pm and they were not very busy- the hostess came to seat us and asked us if it was the first time we have been here and we had newbies with us so we said this was our first time. We then sat and waited 15+ minutes and no one else came even though we asked for actual menus. When we finally asked to order, the hostess told us our server would come take our order. The server came and we told them it was our first time and he told us about ordering 4 dishes and 4 appetizers at a time. We ordered and got the meat and we began to eat. The service was so slow, he was slow to return to change the grill, slower to take our order and did a very poor job telling us what the sauces and the bonchons were. We then finished eating and told him that we were done and he acknowledged and failed to bring out check for 15 minutes. Once he brought the check we waited an additional 30 minutes and had to ask the server to run the credit card for us. Also, the bathroom was dirty and not checked- there was no toilet paper. An employee came in after me and waited for me to finish instead of cleaning the other stall. They used the paper napkins they have instead of buying towels. Overall: -poor service with timing -good meat -required a lot of patience -a lot of smoke because of slow service
google avatar

Allen W.

Yelp
It was okay - good ambiance. Some of the meat and other items like rice cakes and stuff seemed to be frozen, and the radish paper too. Drinks are separate cost. It's pretty hard to get an order in, sometimes it gets so busy, and the orders come wrong at times too (we got food we never ordered). For bigger groups (7+), they might split into two tables - you need to call 24 hours in advance for a reservation.

Saif S.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible experience at Gen BBQ. The service was awful, one server for about 10 tables, and he ignored us multiple times when we asked for basics like water, utensils, or a fork. Every dish came out late, at least 20 minutes each, and we only got one round of food before we had to leave. Portions were tiny, huge plates with barely any food on them. Even worse, they charged us for food that came out an hour late as we were leaving. The grill was dirty, and nothing felt clean or cared for. Honestly, this was the worst Korean BBQ experience I've had anywhere in the country. Superhot in Mountain View is miles ahead, faster service, better food, cleaner environment, and worth every penny. Skip Gen BBQ completely.

Yelp
I love this place! This place is understaffed but wesley our server did it again. We were so happy to get him! He is so organized and authentic, he really made our experience amazing! They are pretty fast with seating you and ordering for you. Food was amazing, fresh and delicious!

Yelp
I'm really on the fence here about my rating. On one hand, our server was polite and friendly. It can't have been fun dodging my toddler's high chair and trying to maneuver around me as I lifted him in and out, and they changed grills around him with practiced ease. But on the other hand, things we ordered never arrived, or arrived incredibly late. Weirdly, this didn't apply to the meat, more the other cooked foods. So my takeaway is that you're actually better off being a straight carnivore here because the "filler" items actually take longer! Perhaps they're less popular and so the kitchen doesn't handle them as swiftly? We never received our veggie platter at all, perhaps they were trying to tell us that we had no business ordering vegetables here XD also, our table absolutely had a busted vent. We were all smoked like a Texas brisket. You could actually see it billowing up from our grill, whereas the other tables remained mostly clear. Of course, we did grill a LOT of meat, but I think whatever was supposed to suck the smoke away simply wasn't working at all. (So don't sit at the table near the kitchen on the second row from the left lol.) That said, this place is still packed bc when it comes to kbbq it's one of the only options in town!! It's AYCE, not too wallet-busting, and the meat is decent, so overall if you're not too large a party (one grill for six people is a bit rough) and you're at a table with a working vent, I'd give four stars.

Yelp
I'm quickly going to write up this disappointing review. Usually, I will start off with the positive aspects. But in this case, the negatives outweigh the positive, therefore I will share the lowlights of this experience.. 1) as with most Korean places, corn and/or barley tea is most prominent in Korean restaurants. I requested hot corn tea, but was old that it is not offered. WTH. 2) asked for fish Katsu, and was told it was not available at the time. 3) one of the ordered items took forever as the waiter went on a break, and we had to ask one of the male host or the light colored shirt people to look into it, that took time to put the order in. I asked if I can just take it to go because of the mishap and was told that foods cannot be taken to go. I wasn't asking to bring home raw meat, but merely asking because it was a delay on their end and we had to wait almost 25 minutes 4) Beef brisket is always our favorite but in this visit we only ordered once as it was low quality and fell apart from the grill. 5) Side dishes were below mediocre. Very minimal and the worst was the tasteless and seasinless plain potato salad. No flecks of cucumber or carrot and seasonings and msyo. 6) Japchae was just a plate of tan wider noodles. No veggies or seasonings. It was garbage. All parties questioned if it was a prank. 7). Took a while to get a glass of ice for our ice tea. When it arrived, it was placed on table like staff person was pissed and only half full which was not enough for the room temperature "iced" tea 8). soondubu jijjgae (soup) which is a Korean pepper based broth with tofu, had minimal tiny pieces of 2-3 soft tofu pieces and a few overcooked leaves. 9) Wheres the lettuce found at Korean BBQ places? I was told they don't have lettuce leaves, but only lettuce for salads. Oh I did have a few positives: a) Seating was quick. No 10-15 min wait. For the $29.95 standard dinner, it had more cons than pro's. The protein offerings were sufficient that we didn't find a need to upgrade to $49,95/pp, but the memories might stop me from shelling another $29.xx. I've had many experiences at AYCE korean BBQ and this place is a sit down basic place. It's geared to the beginners or novice generation that want a quick meal as soon as you sit and don't mind the minimalistic sizes or ingredients. I've highly enjoyed places where customer care is higher than turning tables. Has management here or corporate reduced the quality of its ingredients, the seasonings, portion sizes and walking away from standard K BBQ traditions And put customer experiences by the garbages?

Yelp
Excellent service. We came in on a Friday evening with 0 wait time. The ambiance was nice and the servers were attentive and checked in if we needed anything. Food was amazing, personal favorite is the beef belly, brisket and bulgogi. Katsu cheese was definitely a crowd favorite.

Yelp
The food overall was pretty solid, the bottomless drinks were a nice touch And our waiter was attentive and came right away with our orders. Though the only thing I would say to improve at this gen bbq location is the presentation of the meat as it does not look as appealing as you can see from the photos. The atmosphere is nice with the blue lights and being dimly light. overall 7.5/10 for the service however presentation could use some improvement

Yelp
The meat was so bomb it melted in my mouth. The service was perfect, anything I asked for, Fabian got for me. The True blue lemonade with soju and the wagyu were really tasty. The premium menus Asada tacos were smak aswell.

Yelp
I've been coming to Gen BBQ for years, and it's really sad to see the decline in quality and service. This visit was especially disappointing. * When I asked for a fork, I was given a spoon instead. * They were completely out of soda and tea, which is surprising for a restaurant like this. * Our server never once changed out the grill plate, which made the whole experience unpleasant. * To make things worse, when the check came, we were charged for all the sodas we had originally requested--even though they told us they didn't have any. It felt like they were out of a lot of items and not living up to the Gen BBQ standards I've come to expect. I left feeling more frustrated than satisfied, and that's not how dining here used to feel. I really hope management takes these issues seriously, because Gen BBQ used to be one of my favorite spots.

Yelp
Not recommended. The worst Korean BBQ experience ever. We been waiting to order food for over 15 minutes. No servers helped us. We had to order as many as possible because it gonna take a long time to get the next order. The meat is still frozen too. They just keep walking around and ignore us. What a good service. If you want to be ignored, highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Went back to give this place a second chance. Around 3:00pm on a Friday. Eric, our server was great! Food was excellent and a great value during the week. Meat orders can be a little slow but worth the wait.

Yelp
$29.99 per a person for weekend menu. Service is very slow and took a long time for us to even get water or a lot of our menu items. The meat quality is ok, some of the portion sizes were super inconsistent.

Yelp
Walking in from an ordinary shopping center, we were in awe with the ambiance. Controlled BBQ grill in the center of each booth table & boojie white cushions against black walls & blue neon lights lighting the walk ways, we were expecting an overpriced experience. But we were wonderfully greeted with a friendly attentive service from door to final purchase. We arrived for an early dinner so most of the place was quite empty. But we always bring the crowds & it began to get busy quick. Our server, Zairy, was so nice & explained how to order & prepare our All you can eat, self-cooked, dinner option. Upon sitting we were presented with multiple tangy appetizers & tasty individual dipping sauces to pair with our cooked pieces. With the option of Chopsticks or basic cutlery, we cleanly prepared our individually presented meats & serving of veggie assortments they keep bringing upon our requests. Meats such as whole Shrimp, Brisket slices, New York Steak slices, finely chopped Chicken, Pork chop slices & more arrived raw & ended cooked in our bellies. The number of used plates seemed to be a concern but was quickly cleared by staff. An offered individual bowl of white rice per person just completed the combination of textures & flavors. The whole experience was so enjoyable each member at our table wanted to take a turn cooking for the other. With Boba Milk Tea drinks in hand we all had a wonderful time. The total bill wasn't as shocking as expected & we left full for the entire evening. This place would seem perfect after a night of Night club dancing with friends or an evening with a family of kids.

Yelp
Excellent Korean bbq. Wait time can get a little long. The service is quick though. When you're ready to order they'll take your order down. You don't feel like you're getting ripped off. The vibes inside are nice too with the blue lights.

Yelp
Food here was good! We definitely got our moneys worth for the amount we ate. They didn't have a few items that we were excited for such as the cheese tonkatsu, Hawaiian steak, and more. This location lacked servers on a Sunday afternoon. But props to those who were working, they were awesome! Because of the lack of employees, things were a bit slower, it took awhile to get everything and things were reminded to get a few times. It was a bit frustrating as we were really hungry but after we got some food in us, we didn't mind the waiting.

Yelp
David makes the service ecosystem a lot stronger and balanced! Zairy and Sergio served us extremely well tonight!

Yelp
Oof... a massive disappointment for all-you-can-eat-in-two-hours barbecue; you absolutely get what you pay for, with frozen meat, slow service, and a too-low-fire that means you're spending a lot of time waiting. You get what you pay for, and this is relatively cheap. Not sure I'll revisit.

Yelp
This was my first time eating at Gen. The food was amazing, I got the premium menu ordered the Wagyu and long bone went yesterday and no regret. Anson was my server good service, very kind, and polite. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Sad. This used to be a goto kbbq place for quick cravings, but the quality has dropped so much that I don't even want to go to any Gen. Waiting staff was very inattentive, meat quality was extremely mid, and the seats were full of holes. Only reason I'm not giving a 1 star is that at the very least the staff was somewhat polite.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday night around closing time. My servers name was Anson. He was a little busy as it was close to closing time and his section was full but I was able to order food in a timely manner. The manger Erik was also a big help and definelymade the experience more enjoyable for me. All around great service!

Yelp
Servers seem to hate their job at this location . When we asked for side dishes the server only gave us literally 2 slices of kimchi for a table of 5. We are never looking for the best meat quality here hence the affordable prices, but definitely stay away from their brisket. Easily the worse quality brisket I've ever had. The short ribs and the steak was the only good thing on the menu. My co-workers and I have come here a handful of times full of times. We are usually a big fan of the beef belly. But they ran out that day. But we weren't aware until we were sat down. Having a sign at the counter indicating which items are unavailable would help out in the future. My coworkers and I are usually pretty satisfied. But after yesterday's experience, I'm afraid, we won't be back.

Yelp
Brutal. 3:30pm place had like 10 Tables seated - so empty. 1 server and no other help. Took us a while to get seated. Finally got to order like 25 mins after walking through door of empty restaurant, still no water First round of meat and we don't have the dipping sauces or water So the meat is cooked and nobody can help us - no water no sauces. The waiter (poor kid) apologized said there was a manager meeting and he was only employee on floor. We got out water and dipping sauces Second round of ordering they brought us 1 if the 4 appetizers and 3 if the 4 meats. Brutal. Now we are two hours deep into this experience and the third order comes.... 2 of the 4 things we ordered only Worst Korean BBQ experience of my life. The manager in training on the job offered no reasonable resolution - hence this review. Will not be going back to a Gen again.
