Wow! This place is great!! :) I came in on a Saturday afternoon and was able to get in before the rush. The restaurant is really nice and clean. Very fancy interior and looks really modern. Service was awesome! Even though they were kinda busy was able to get good service. Food comes out fresh and they change out the grill tray everytime and rarely have to ask for a new. I can't wait to come back 😋😋😛

Gen what happened? Been going to this spot for years and now it seems that the quality and the quantity has gone down. The sides are miniature / soggy and you have to keep asking for them, they just looked sad lol. Same with the regular sauces/salt. It just seems stingy to be honest. I totally understand the wastefulness of some people, but compared to GEN in the past or other KBBQ Spots, it misses. I used to be excited to share Gen, but unfortunately Gen now seems sub-par vs many other Korean BBQ spots in OC. The KFC definitely went down in quality and same with the Hawaiian Steak. Thankfully the Gabli and the Pork Belly were delicious. There was no music playing at all. What is this Target? I used to enjoy the EDM/Trance they would play. One of the things that I loved most about the atmosphere, it was fun. The service was actually really great and our server along with all the other staff were very professional, personable and had a sensed of urgency, which I love seeing and truly appreciate. Still willing to give Gen a chance.

Business groups and large groups beware! We were a business group with seven people so we needed to split the check among each person for business expense reasons. We told the waiter when we got there we all needed to be on separate checks and he did not seem concerned or say that we could not do that. At the end when he brought the bill we said that we need to be on separate checks and he said they could only split it onto two. I told him that I asked and he did not say anything about it and he argued that with me. I take silence as there is no problem and he did not say anything. Unfortunately, we had to put the expense on two people’s cards and hope that we get reimbursed. The food was good and the atmosphere was good but I would not recommend this place to large groups or business groups.

My friend tried there last time, and the food and service were so good. They brought us there. And we feel so disappointed. Service is bad, maybe not having enough servers. We wait around 20 to 25 minutes until we can see our servers again to be able more dishes. Meat especially pork, does not taste fresh on my day after being grilled and doesn't smell- appeals to me. Does not have volcano chicken.😌

My family and I came here for my bday, and well, everything was okay. The service was very slow. We kept asking for them to bring use our meat, rice, and napkins. We had so much meat eating waiting because we were eating it with the rice, but meat took forever. As we waited for them to bring us meat as well, we didn't noticed the grill was so hot that when I put the chicken on top flames came up , it took them some time for them to come I didn't noticed my arm had hot burn because it was so dark in there. When my arm started hurting and I looked at it, I saw I had a mark, which I did have burned it. I asked for ointment and some ice but even for that they took forever. My hand feels swollen, but what did they care about it. I was so disappointed on my bday when it had to be special 😪 I cried because my arm was hurtin, and now I hav a mark to remember. The check was $290, not worth it

I came here on a Sunday with just my son and I on April 21st. From the very beginning. I didn’t like the vibe from this place. It all started from when we came into the door, approached Ryan who was in the front. We went up to him and he didn’t acknowledge us. At all. I tried to tell him table for two. But he completely cut me off and told me to wait for the hostess to help with requests. So we waited awhile. Until the “hostess” arrived at her work area. Only she also didn’t acknowledge my son and I. We kept waiting. Until I asked Ryan about the hostess. And he just rolled his eyes and said I’ll just help you. It was just a table for 2. That’s all. I gave him my phone number because it was asked upon which is normal for a Korean BBQ place. Wait time was about 15-20 mins. Understandable. They took us to our table. Only we had to share our table with another party. I asked the hostess if we can have our own table. She basically said too bad. You are sitting here. With an attitude. I just simply accepted it. My son and I sat with an other party. First of all. I took about 15 minutes for a waiter to take our drink and meat order. Second of all. They handed my son’s drink to the party next to us. Sitting in the same table. I had originally ordered tall a mango kart. That never arrived. We didn’t have tongs at our table. I had to ask 2 different servers for tongs. Why is that ? They delivered our meats with no tongs and I had to ask around for tongs. They never changed our grill but yet they changed the party sitting in our same table. Their grill about 4 times. I even counted. My beer never arrived. I kept waiting on it. Food was delicious. I just wish they had changed our grill. Service was horrible. At the end I asked for my beer. They responded with they didn’t have mango Kart available. Yet I still waited all this time for them to tell me that. I settled with a modelo. Would’ve been better to have known that information from the beginning. Also right when my son and I were done eating. Literally finished all the meats. That’s when they decided to change our grill. And we still waited for about 25 more minutes just to ask for the check and pay. My son kept saying he wanted to go home. I was on the same page as him. But we had to wait for a the servers to finish closing us out. No I didn’t tip. This has got to be the worst service I’ve ever received. Ever. From the moment we walked in and the moment we left. I’m never coming back to this establishment ever again in my life. I had made the Gen KBBQ at Fullerton my main staple in KBBQ places. And I wanted to give this location a try. Worst decision I made.

I love to cook and eat with friends, so I was excited to introduce Gen Korean BBQ to my friends. The restaurant is a casual Korean BBQ place with a wide variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables to cook at your table. I made a reservation in advance, as the restaurant is usually busy, especially on weekends. When we arrived, we were seated at a table with a built-in grill. We decided to start with the all-you-can-eat dinner menu, which includes 30 different items. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and explained how the all-you-can-eat menu worked. We started with a variety of side dishes, including soup, kimchi, pickled vegetables, salad, and edamame. The appetizers were delicious and helped to whet our appetites for the main course to be cooked. We were all excited to start cooking our own food, so we ordered a variety of vegetables, meats and seafood. Cooking our own food was a lot of fun, and it was great to be able to customize our dishes to our liking. Steamed rice was perfectly cooked and we topped the rice with grilled items. We also tried a variety of sauces, which added even more flavor to the food. We washed everything down with hot Saki. As we were cooking, we chatted and laughed, and it was a lot of fun to cook our own food together. We all had a great time at Gen Korean BBQ, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and fun dining experience with friends.

Our server was Romeo. Very attentive and kind! Definitely should be employee of the month lol. If you do decided to go just know that the -1 star on my review is because of the manager! She's seemed to only attend those who she favored. I think if she is going to be going around to tables she should at least be nice, if not why come around. Food was good and at a decent price.

What happened to this place. It must have changed ownership in the last couple of years. Way too many things are wrong but the main ones are: No sides. No salad, cucumbers, kimchi... what happened. Service was a bunch of disorganized kids. Nice but lost. I tried to find someone in charge no luck. Food was super low quality and quantity on everything. Used to be solid, what a change.

This is usually the Gen location I go to, although it's been a while! Overall, Gen is pretty much what you would expect from an AYCE kkq spot. We got there around 8:40 PM on a Saturday evening, were seated in about 20 minutes, and started getting our first round of food within ~10 minutes of us ordering. Service in general was okay - there were other larger parties around us that our server was covering, and there were definitely moments during the evening when we had to wait a while to place more orders. The food was pretty solid and the sides were great as well, although they were sadly out of rice paper. We personally enjoyed the beef belly, steak, brisket, pork belly, and galbi but you really can't go wrong with any of the orders. As with most kbbq spots, it can get really loud at times with the grill so it was pretty hard to hear each other/have conversations across the table (besides what we wanted to order next, lol) but would be happy to come back another time! Price - $29.99 for dinner, 2 hr limit.

This place always hits the spot for KBBQ. We always have a good time here and leave feeling stuffed! Since it's all you can eat we usually like the bring out of town family members to this spot! Highly recommend upgrading to the premium to get the wagyu and prime rib cuts. Service was a little tough for me this trip as it was super busy but our waiter did a solid job juggling all the tables in his section. Just make sure you're prepared for a wait - not able to make reservations over the phone!

First of all, this is hands-down the best f***ing location in Orange County! Not only did all the servers work in tandem, but they really hustled and busted their a** working hard with a full house. I want to give a shout out to my girl Kota! After she took care of us, I didn't even know that she was the MFing Boss! She was so hospitable and so friendly! I wanna also give another shout out to my boy Kyle ever since we sat down, we have had nothing but great service and went the extra mile to take care of us. I couldn't have asked for a better time. Thank you so much for giving us the best experience.!

It was a very nice place, comfy. The service was very prompt and welcoming. Waiter was very good. Food , heck it was great. Unfortunately tho we were very hungry and waiting for it to cook was driving us nuts lol . Me and my friends were going "I think we need more than one grill on the table. Compared to buying it from supermarket, this is the cheapest way to go. 1 small package of kalbi was the cost of one admission for all you can eat kalbi. So perfect. We piled on like you couldn't believe it. Made my entire week so happy. I'd recommend. I had lots of fun.

This place is seriously understaffed and omg tonight was the worst Gen experience ever. About 5 years ago I was the lead server at Gen Torrance and I always had the "super section" which consisted of 10 tables. 6 of them being 6 tops. Only a few of us could handle that section. Tonight the sever we had (Arlene) was put in a pretty similar section tonight when me and my GF came to eat and honestly she could not handle it. Either she doesn't care or she doesn't have the ability to handle such a large station. No sense of urgency on her part. And no knowledge of how to prioritize orders accordingly. When we first sat down we placed our order. Half of it didn't come out. (Brisket came out but not the Beef Belly). Had to ask the manager and the runner and finally it came out after asking Arlene the second time. Didn't seem like she cared lol. The runner even said "oh she probably forgot to put it in". How is that possible when you put the order in the IPad as you're telling her. Like wtf. I asked her for Rice paper, Samnjang and garlic. Did she get it? Nope. I had to flag down the manager to get it. Then she grabs the brisket sauce to pour more in after she could feel my annoyance and I'm like why didn't you just do that when I initially asked since it was two feet from you? lol. She needs to be retrained in how to execute good service with so many tables. Like I said I worked at Gen Torrance for two years and this chick cannot handle the volume she was sat. They slammed her with 6 or 7 tables all at the same time. And some of them were 5 tops and 3 tops. I finally got fed up with the snail service I just asked for the check and paid and left the food cooking on the grill. The owner needs to retrain his entire staff. I had one double order of brisket then just lost my appetite then left. Never coming back here again.

Had a great dinner with family It was super busy but our server KYLE was the Best!!!! Very efficient, fast, Humble and polite! Good Vibes , very chill place . Wish the food portions were bigger. Grill Change was on point. Never had to ask, they just came and changed it. Loved how when they gave us a new plates of meat, they took the old ones.

Sat us next to another party who was cornered in by my seat in a long booth so I needed to get up to let them out, server was not attentive at all we sat with no food for long periods of time until someone else noticed us, the food was okay but it's definitely not what it used to be. At one point there was a birthday which consisted of suuuuper loud banging on grills that was definitely too much. Won't go back unfortunately, and I used to love this place.

Romeo made my first experience at this location memorable, he deserves to be the employee of the month. Giving a 4 stars review just because the manager's present was very unpleasant. Would only ask the people around us if they needed anything but would ignore us. Also, it's very short staffed, the workers are running around like crazy and the manager is just siting around. They deserve a raise especially Romeo.

We arrived during lunch time and were seated right away. We were a bit confused on how and what to order but our server Miguel made it very easy and offered some recommendations that did not disappoint. Our favorite was that bulgogi and the honey pork belly. The lighting was nice and made you feel like you were in a high end restaurant without having to pay a pricey bill at the end. The waiters kept switching our grilling pan so we had a clean cook every time we were brought new meats. Overall we had an excellent experience and will most definitely be coming back.

I've been to Gen's quite a few times this year with my best friend and her husband and it hasn't disappointed so far. The wait can be long, especially on weekends, and there are times the service is not as great as others but for the price and the food you get, I can't complain too much. Just a little. But overall, I love eating at Gen's. It's always a good option. Especially when we are craving that beef belly we love so much.

Not going to lie; at first I was scared because I was sat in an area where the wind was blowing crazy and it was freezing BUT! Daryl came in clutch ; he was super attentive and made sure our grill was always filled with meats and our water was filled up! Daryl definitely went above and beyond to make sure my guys and myself were taken care of ! This was on a Friday night with lots of people in tonight but Daryl made sure he gave us the proper attention needed! Thank you Daryl! Have a great night ! We will back because of you!

There are plenty of parking spaces. We had a reservation and were quickly seated. This is an all you can eat, so you can order a lot of items from the menu. Once seated, we got a few orders in, but after the first round, they rarely came back to our table. We had to always call on them since they were missing a lot of the items we requested and we also wanted to order more items. The meat and sides weren't that good. I don't know if it was just the day we went, but it has changed in terms of service and food quality. Service: 2/5 Tip(s): - Make reservations if you have a huge party so you don't need to wait (but there is a fee per table if you don't show up) - Plenty of parking spaces

Very good! Never disappoints! Great place, clean environment, very friendly servers! I also saw staff and cleaning crew picking up new grills, and it's just a whole team work here. Our waiter was very friendly from Hawaii. Dane We decided to do an impromptu visit and it did not disappoint! Amazing service, it was quite a great atmosphere with birthdays around, late night dinner couples. I really enjoyed the time here and highly recommend. They have the QR code for the full menu on the table and they also provide you with a card menu in case you want to do premium meats. Overall rating 10/10 - highly recommend! Great for birthdays and celebrations!

Been here multiple times and for the most part the service and food has been good. This past Friday though, the service was terrible. I usually come in on Friday evenings around 5pm. Feels like we get there before the rush but this time, I'm thinking we came around the time of the rush. We were seated right away, there were only two of us in my party. They sat us next to another party and it looked like they had already started eating when we got seated. It looked like there was only one server in the whole area and our server didn't make eye contact nor paid much attention to what we ordered because we never saw some of the things we ordered. Once we placed our order it took a bit longer than usual to receive our food. We ordered gyoza, salad, potato salad and bowls of rice. We got rice and potato salad but never got the gyoza or salad. We then got the meat and had to hunt down our server to get us some salt and sauces. We were so hungry, we started eating the cucumbers and pickles but we were never asked again if we wanted more. The lighting at the table was nonexistent for us. It was difficult to tell if our meat was ready. My boyfriend had to use his phone light to check on the meat. Also, we ordered some chicken at one point and then several minutes later our server came by to tell us, they were out of it and then left. He didn't even bother to ask us if we wanted something else or even make a suggestion as to what else we could have gotten. Once we ordered, the meat would be brought out to us one at a time but since we had to wait so long the grill burned some of the meat at the end. It was just not a great experience at all. I didn't feel like we ate or received enough for the $29.99 per person we paid for. We ate the entire rice bowl because we were so hungry and they were just taking too long. It took our server like 15 minutes alone to get us the check. I've been to Gen Korean Bbq in Chino as well but this place hasn't been great lately. There are other Korean bbq places not too far, and I would suggest going there instead. This experience made me not want to come here again.

The service wasn't great. The waiter we had only acknowledged my boyfriend. As soon as he came to our table, his attention was solely directed at my boyfriend. He never directly asked me any questions unless I spoke up first, while he constantly asked my boyfriend how the food was and if he needed anything else. There was an instance where I was trying to get his attention to order a drink and I thought he had ignored me to go assist another table. But he came back to the table and apologized...to my boyfriend; even though I was the one trying to get his attention in the first place. It was very obvious he was trying to be very polite to my boyfriend with the assumption that he was paying the bill, even though I was the one covering it. He even directly handed the bill to my boyfriend. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I both agreed that the treatment towards me was odd and that this would be our first and last time here.

It surprises me they are still open. It must be because people don't realize they are less than adequate. I have not eaten at this restaurant for several years because the service was terrible. Today I took someone who has never been there and gave them another chance. The service was better but now they didn't have salad or Kimchi. They gave us very few sides. I was looking forward to it being a good meal instead I left disappointed. Today was my last visit. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Gen used to be the pinnacle of AYCE BBQ, ushering in a new era of quality, ambience and service to kbbq places in the U.S. Sadly, this franchise has been reduced to a shadow of its former glory. How this place has 4.1 stars on Yelp is beyond me. Pros: Two stars for decent short ribs and beef rib fingers, good parking lot, reasonable wait time, staff busting their butts. Cons: 1. I could tell the staff were working hard, but they were simply overwhelmed, leading to extremely long wait times for side dishes, utensils, waters, grill changes, and additional meat orders. We didn't receive any side dishes until 1/3 through our meal and had to repeatedly ask for basic items we needed. 2. Dry brisket. Dry rice paper (my friend kept ordering it to see if it would magically get better...it didn't). 3. Less than mediocre side dishes. 4. Poor ventilation: I could see smoke throughout the restaurant, my friend coughed at one point, and I left the restaurant reeking of grilled meat. Granted, I am mentally prepared for this to happen after kbbq, but this reached a new level of intensity that excited my dog to no end. My husband kindly commented on the smell when I got back home. I can deal with slow service on its own, but the food and ambience aren't worth it here. Go to I Can Bbq down the street, or literally anywhere else.

Came to GEN for the first time on a Monday at 11:30am. Miguel was our server, he was friendly and informative. And offered great recommendations. I would definitely come for some great cuts of Korean Meats to choose from. The only dish I would skip would be the KFC chicken as it is breaded very heavy. Aside from the All the Beef, Chicken and Pork were Delish. Paid under $50 for two lunch Buffets and two Drinks. Cant beat that Price for a Good food and Good Service. GEN is doing KBBQ Right!

I got here on a Friday night and put my name in knowing it would be a wait so my sister and I went to her car to wait and then got one text saying our name had been taken off the list and sorry,., so we hightailed it in there and the girls said well we texted you and called your name and I responded umm nope so they were accommodating to seat us in a few minutes Tge food was good and our server was lacking in customer service and I just felt like he was being more attentive to the 12 top but I enjoyed the food

We ordered the premium selection and the food quality was okay but nothing special. There are plenty of other kbbq spots with great quality meat on their premium menu. The inside was nice, but the smell of meat if a bit overwhelming compared to other places. The food takes forever to come out. At one point with sat watching the grill burn for what seemed like 10 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted more food. The server was extremely nice, but damn they are slow. Overall would not come back nor recommend. Plenty of other competing spots, don't waste your time here. Ohh, one thing to note, their sauces were delicious! Another thing to note, do not try to soju michelada, that thing was undrinkable.

Food - 3/5 Service - 0/5 Ambiance - 4/5 Portion size is getting smaller even though its all you can eat. However, flavorful enough for all you can eat spot. Our server left us to go home middle of the service and told other server who was taking over our table they are done even though we've been there for 20-25 minutes max. Got the attention of the manager after 20 minutes of no service and he said "oh yeah Emanuel went home" and that was it. Greasy floor and no ventilation at all. However, out going ambiance for younger generation. 2/5 stars.

Wow! Idk if they are under new management, but we have been coming here at least once a month for a while and we haven't had amazing service like we did today. Kyle was our server and he provided exceptional service! He was very kind and attentive, provided us with extra sides, made sure our drinks were filled, and brought out our food out quickly. Kyle, you deserve 10 stars!!! We also had a manager check on our table twice.

We look for a GEN no matter what city we are in. They are overall very consistent and quick. I believe the menu changed a bit since we were here last and most stayed the same. The glass noodles didn't taste right compared to what we had prior, however the others were pretty consistent. Tried some new menu items like the cheese tonkatsu. All the cheese melted out and it was really just breading lol The meat quality is always good and the service is always fast! Ambiance is young, vibes, smoky, and relaxed!

I really liked this place. We had to wait a while for some friends to show up, but once they arrived we were seated immediately. There was five of us seated at a large booth. It is pretty dark inside, but I actually didn't mind it too much. I've been to other Gen BBQs were it has been even worse with the lighting, but this one was enough to set the mood, but not too dark that I could barely see my food. We ordered a lot of things at once, around five items each round, but never had any issues. My favorites were the beef belly, pork belly and surprisingly, the fried chicken. All the meats were fresh and all the fried foods we got were hot and ready to eat. Our waiter was super nice and attentive. I had a really good night here with friends.

First, NO KIMCHI OR SESAME OIL! That alone was enough to have left but we had limited childcare time so we unfortunately stuck it through. Listen, I have metered expectations when it comes to all you can eat Korean BBQ, I know what I'm getting into, but HOW is this place open?! The "marinated meat" were pieces of low quality meat with two lines of marinade squirted on top like ketchup. The bulgogi was marinated BUT its consistency turned into ground beef when cooked, NEVER had a stranger tasting bulgogi. They literally filled our sauce dish which usually has sesame oil, a hot sauce and soy sauce with watered down soy sauce and salt with no sesame oil. The waiter couldn't tell us why they didn't have kimchi or sesame oil that night, I thought to myself, go buy from the Asian market next door, that's what a restaurant who cares about their patrons would do. He told me he'd hook me up by giving me the garlic sesame sauce that only comes with premium purchase, it was garlic in tasteless vegetable oil! It was honestly horrible. Only positive was the waiter was kind and friendly. AVOID at all costs.

Julian is an excellent server and helped us choose our dinner with high quality meats and drink deals. We will definitely be back!!! We recommend the long bone, kimchi rice, and tacos. They gave us 6+ fresh grills and refilled our drinks without us asking. Thank you!

STRAIGHT BUNS! I CAME WITH MY FRIENDS VERY HUNGRY AND I THOUGHT WE WERE OVER EXAGGERATING. Dude they had one server serving 9 tables. THE SIDE PROPORTIONS ARE AWFUL TO. They serve you one bites worth of sides and then you have to order sides again and again and again. I am not that big as well, in normal weight and i promise i am not over exaggerating. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. Also food was mediocre nothing that says "amazing". Do yourself a favor and save your money and hunger.

Wow this location has gone down hill. I used to come here often when I lived in the area. I came here today with a couple of friends. The servers were nice but it was a bit slow. We asked for items that never came out. We had to follow up for water 3x. I asked for more salad which never came out. I had to ask for Japche twice and it came out the second time. They accidentally spilled sauce on my friends pants. Not sure if they noticed. There seemed to be limited side dishes. The meat quality wasn't the best either. It was very chewy. The one cool thing I liked is that they offer kimchi fried rice now if you don't want the plain white rice. Overall I don't think I will be coming back to this location.

I used to come to this location all the time a couple years ago and I always had good experiences. I finally came back to eat and was so excited to return to my original KBBQ location but everything downgraded so bad. I went inside to get seated because they just opened for the day and all the employees saw people waiting to get seated but nobody came over to acknowledge us. It took someone almost 20 minutes to finally come over and say something, which was that they're still setting up tables even though the restaurant opened about 30 minutes ago. After my party got seated, we ordered our first round of meats and once we were done eating that round, we tried to get a server's attention for another 30 minutes to order more. This is insane! Service is incredibly slow and horrible overall. They kept bringing us the wrong meats and took forever to bring more food. Our grill was so burnt and nobody bothered to stop by and change it either. I would never come back to this Gen location. Management must have changed because it's not the same as before at all. Bad service, dirty place, and not worth it.

I took my family here Saturday night 02/08/25 just for some middle of the road Korean bbq nothing fancy but also not cheap considering 3 people plus a 1 year old baby costs 100 bucks. I've been to a lot of other kbbq places all over and I can say without a doubt this has been the worst service I've ever received for so many different reasons, 1 my daughter was in a high chair and the employees walking by kept kicking her chair ( she's a one year old and the wait staff wasn't careful at all they would serve hot food and drop it right in front of my daughter!!!) this is legit services 101!! 2. Multiple times our waiter was checking in on every single table around us but ours. 3. There were multiple times where our table had zero meat to cook ( this has legit never happened to me before at any other Kbbq place ever!!!!) 4. When our waiter did actually check in with us we ordered our meat and ask for certain sides because the servings for kimchi and cucumbers was embarrassingly small we would have to ask for the same things at least two times ( at least two there were times where we had to ask 3-4 times for the same items ) and be met with some kind of excuse as to why our waiter forgot. 5. The waiting staff was going to sing happy birthday to one of the other parties in the same room we were in which is fine my daughter is used to pretty loud environments But they started banging and scratching on plates and grills with spoons and yelling right in my daughter's ear scaring the shit out of her causing her to cry. I wanted to leave at least 3 different times because of how terrible the service was and how inconsiderate they were but my son and my partner were starving I would advise anyone to try somewhere else this place seems like the staff isn't being watched maintained or even trained this place is pure chaos and it seems like the management doesn't have any kind of eye or attention on anything happening on the floor.

The food was and is always really good. We usually come to this location, but this past time might lead us to Fullerton. Mainly, our server was super slow with everything. We never got refills of water, had to ask multiple times for sauce, never got forks (which they were running out of so not their fault), and got our food very slowly. We were here on a Saturday at 1pm. The line wasn't out the door and there were empty tables around. All the stars are for the food and the cleanup crew.
