Nuit Belge Tasting Event Will Bring Rare Belgian Beers and Top Chefs Together - Eater New Orleans

"Local beer geeks: It’s time to ditch the brewery t-shirts and play dress-up for Nuit Belge, now in its third year, at Generations Hall on March 9. The upscale tasting event, which inspires all sorts of elegant wardrobe choices (jackets, ties, long dresses, corsets, high heels), pairs well-regarded and hard-to-find Belgian and Belgian-style beers with dishes from top, local chefs, making it the beer nerd prom New Orleans deserves." - Nora McGunnigle

Google
Cool vibe to this place, lots of separated areas, some elevated by a few stairs, some on a level 2. One area had a stage, many bars available. Outdoor area available. The function I attended was large so it was VERY packed so didn't spend much time inside.

Google
Great venue for the Back to the Palace rave in June 2025. Excellent atmosphere, great bar staff, good music, and some of the best security in the area.

I won't be coming back to this place again after getting burnt by a flask. The owner refuses to return my calls and no response on this matter. I have been waiting to get a copy of the incident. I will not be supporting this establishment at all. I am letting all media outlets what took place.

Google
Had an event there recently, and the security wouldn't stop harassing the girls who didn't have a band because they weren't 21+. The security guard watched my friend like a hawk the whole night and it was super uncomfortable. She was drinking water and he insisted it was vodka despite seeing her pour the water from the water bottle into the cup multiple times??? Very uncomfortable

Google
It is too crowded in there. We were at a private Essence party and it is just too much. Also, one guy bartender ( ligjt skinned ,chunky guy with black glasses) was a giant arsehat and harrassing customers. He actually threw out bar stuff as he had a temper tantrum for some reason. Awful. Like totally threw out olives for no reason. Weirdo. Everyone else I saw was professional except for that guy. Not going back, personally... but thank you super kind people who work there. Also saw people smoking inside. Hard to conteol qith such huge crowds...

Great feel, and a perfect place for events of around 250 people.

Google
I hosted a corporate event for over 200 people and it was great. The staff were amazing I cannot say enough good things about them they were easy to work with, friendly and accommodating. The room was just what we wanted and everyone had a great time. The house DJ was amazing he was able to read the room and play awesome music all day. Will definitely be hosting another party here if we come back to this area. Highly recommend this venue

Yelp
Perfect venue for special events and meetings. I've been to several events and end the large space and bar options.

Yelp
If it were possible to give 0 stars I would. We went here for a party during a conference weekend. We requested a table and paid for the entrance and a bottle. The service was absolutely horrendous. We had to ask for water. Our bottles took forever to arrive. They took our cards and IDs and didn't return them for at least 2 hours which was not their policy and very sketchy. Spoke to the manager and all he did was say "I'll take care of it" then brought us water Will never return

Yelp
This is a great spot where any type of event you are looking to host can be accommodated. Multiple bar areas. Plenty of bathrooms. Very clean. Has a large 2nd floor. It is in the prime area, the Warehouse District in New Orleans. Parking can be handle via valet, free street parking after 7pm during the weekdays or a local public parking garage.

Yelp
Amazing space for multi-needs event. Lovely space met needs of stage presentations, dance, meal, bar and more quiet room for conversation. Staff very attentive. Temperature and decor very good.

Yelp
I went to the Offbeat magazine's best of the beat awards party here. So amazing to hear Samantha Fish's name as the winner for two awards. There was enough room for two stages at either end of the space. Multiple bars everywhere on every level. The food vendors were from all over the area and they were wonderful! Of course, the real attraction was the music and the bands did not disappoint. It felt as if an all star band was playing all night. As for the venue itself, it was all right. The big chandelier in the back room was a nice touch. I liked that you could go from one end of the space to the other via the second floor. Bar service was ok.

Yelp
I can not tell you how many times I have been to this hall, but I will say that it is always a great time when I am there. I usually come to this hall for the Morpheus pre and post parade party. The food is pretty darn tasty and the drinks are usually free for me when I get there. I have also been here for the pussyfooter blush ball, which is also a really good time. My only complaint is the lack of bathrooms. Maybe it's just me but for such a big hall, there should be more bathrooms for use. It's a small complaint but after you have been drinking free beer for a while, a bathroom becomes #1 priority!

Yelp
From the chandeliers to the seasonal decor, this is one of my favorite venues for events. The staff is friendly and does a wonderful job in making sure you enjoy yourself without a worry. There is plenty of space to accommodate huge parties. The courtyard area is pretty as well with plants, trees and nice spots for photos. The bars are well stocked and the bartending staff know how to please the customers! The whole vibe atmosphere can go from elegant to party like a rockstar with the drop of a hat....it just depends on your DJ of choice. Bathrooms are clean and roomy with plenty of mirrors and several stalls. Also, this building is setup to allow caterers space and tools to accommodate hundreds of hungry guests.

Yelp
WTH?! This place is ridiculous. Not sure where the high ratings come from. Absolutely all the food is fried and gross. There is loud music on two stages on either end of the space - and in the middle you hear both at once. Super long lines for mediocre food. The space is pretty and the staff is mostly quite nice, but seriously NOLA WTH?

Yelp
My sister had her bridal shower here. It went very well and was the most affordable venue in the area. It normally is a venue for elderly, but it doesn't smell like a nursing home or anything. They provide catering or you can bring in your own (we had them do some and we brought in some of our own). For a group of about 40 and under it is perfect space!

Yelp
Attended The Special Event last night as part of the event staff. This venue is huge and great for all sorts of events! From wedding receptions, to conference after parties, to holiday parties! I absolutely loved this venue last night, especially how all the bits and pieces came together. The Generations Hall staff was superb and so kind. They were always checking on the staff for the event and cleaning at all times. The bartenders were sort of slow however, but I understood considering there were about 1000 guests in attendance. Parking was not a hassle whatsoever. The security for the night was great!

Yelp
I was invited to a liquor tasting in early December at Generations Hall. (Yes, a free liquor tasting and yes, I have the best friends EVER.) The space in divided in an interesting manner...I guess so you can rent just part of it. But we were in almost the whole hall. I liked that there were elevated spaces (the balcony above the stage area) and the bar in the big room that was a few steps up. The food was all catered by Miss Linda so that was yummy (if not super veggie friendly) and, of course, there was the free flowing liquor. The venue staff was quick to clean up spills and seemed on top of things. All in all a really good adaptable space for a variety of rental needs.

Yelp
Generations Hall is a really cool venue for hosting events. I went to a fundraiser here and I was struck by how well everything was organized. The staff was on point and were taking care of people quickly with no long lines. There was plenty of food that was organized into neat little stations. There were even a few silent auctions going on that went off without a hitch. I had never been to Generations Hall when it wasn't "Metro", but seeing how everything was done, I would definitely suggest this venue to anyone who is looking to host an event.

Yelp
This is an awesome event venue! Great value for all that's packed in. Lots of furniture/built in decor included. The spaces lend themselves to being able to do 3 different acts in each without disturbing each other. Our group of 1,000 was having such a good time at our Mardi Gras themed party that we extended the party an hour and a half! Lyle and the Generations Hall staff were great to work with. The spaces were clean and non-bar smelling :-). It's a great gem in the city, would highly recommend! Going to be hard to top the party next year.

Yelp
Generations Hall is an amazing venue only a few steps from the convention center. It has 3 three beautiful rooms, with 7 bars. Perfect place to host a convention group or reception. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Finding the words to describe just how amazing this place is, is hard to do. The absolute BEST group of people to work with. We got married here over this past weekend. We have been working with Lyle for over a year, long distance, trying to plan the wedding. Lyle has been way more than helpful. Him and his crew were beyond kind and helped every step of the way. The night of the event, Lyle and his crew went above and beyond to ensure our night turned out perfectly. We managed to misplace an item from the wedding that we wanted to keep. Lyle made sure it was found and even mailed it back to us! I genuinely can not express my gratitude enough for everything Lyle and his crew did for us. I definitely recommend to everyone!!

Yelp
If I ever have the opportunity to attend another event here I'll be sure to update this review since only one experience is not a great way to paint a picture, but I will say this; the bathrooms were pretty gross and the same cocktail at three different bars came out to three different prices.
google avatar

Caroline K.

Yelp
It was the perfect venue for my wedding and reception, and all of the staff went above and beyond to make it the perfect night. I couldn't have asked for anything better!
google avatar

Yelp
No better venue in the city. Great staff and management that can accommodate to parties any size.

Yelp
Let me tell you... you can't go wrong with picking Generations Hall for your wedding and reception venue. The staff was amazing and helpful! The venue itself has awesome lighting features, a beautiful bar, chandeliers and most importantly a dance floor! The venue even offered a ballon drop during the arrival of our second line band! There's a hotel perfectly situated right next to it, which made getting to and from the venue super easy for us and our guests!

Yelp
This is the absolute best venue to have your wedding. Working with Lyle was amazing and he made sure that we had everything we needed and were taken care of for our big day. I would change absolutely nothing about my wedding and the venue, the staff, and Lyle are the major reasons why. You can tell everyone there loves what they do because the staff are extremely accommodating and great with customer service. The bartenders smiled the entire night and made whatever they were asked to. The DJ had everyone on their feet the entire night and also allowed our guest to request songs. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. The wedding took place a few days ago and our guests are still raving about it being the best wedding they have ever been to. Definitely go check this venue out and talk with Lyle before settling for something else. Everyone also spoke about how calm I was days leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day. That was only possible because of Lyle.

Yelp
This place is nice on the inside, pretty big and can be a concert venue one night, a club the next, or a dinner or fancy occasion the next. Came here because it was apart of the bacchus bash block party and it was better in here than the concert outside. The place was basically split into two clubs with bars all over the place. The DJ was spinning real good music and the drinks was also pretty good and in line with standard club prices. I would come here again especially during Mardi Gras and the bacchus bash/block party.

Yelp
Absolute rudest management I have ever encountered along with sketchy bartenders. I came here the other night with some friends and decided to pick up the tab for everyone. I gave the bartender my card, she swiped it, and gave it back to me without giving me a receipt or anything to sign. I thought it was weird so I asked if I was supposed to get a receipt and she just shook her head no. I asked how much it was and she said $64. My friend and I verbally took note of this because we were both suspicious, but then we shrugged it off and carried on. The next morning I saw on my statement a charge for $104, so I looked up the number of the bar and called the only number they list which turned out to be the number to their sales manager. As I start explaining what happened he rudely cuts me off to condescendingly inform me that this is the sales number and he's with a client and I need to contact another number. As I tried to head back to my desk to grab a pen he told me he was with a client about 5 more times and hung up (maybe don't answer the phone if you're with a client OR list another number online). After finally getting in touch with someone (who was actually helpful) he tells me there is a signature on my receipt which I knew wasn't mine so I said I would stop by to take a look at it. I didn't get to go until the next day when the second guy wasn't there but a 3rd man (I believe his name was Chip) had the receipt waiting for me and when I got there I saw a completely random signature on the bill and 4 $10 charges for "premium charges" or something (which would account for the mysterious $40 on the bill). As I started talking to the guy about what happened I was once again rudely interrupted to be told "Let me just cut you off there, I'm not the guy you spoke to yesterday, so.." --because how crazy it is of me to think he might be concerned with the fact one of his bartenders is adding charges and signing receipts for his customers? This conversation escalated for a minute or two and when I asked what his problem was I was told "people like you with thin skin", and then received the most sarcastic and rude "you have a GREAT day" as I left. I think I was in his office for a total of 5 minutes. I am honestly still just extremely taken back by how anyone in his position could be so unnecessarily rude and apathetic to the fact his employees are committing credit card fraud. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this venue.

Yelp
The history here and it being an old sugar mill is going back in time. The music was great, the food was delicious and thre drinks were fantastic. Mardi Gras setup in September was a bonus. The staff were so friendly, hospitable and wonderful.

Austin C.

Yelp
We had an event for around 200 people here and it could not have been any better. The owner went above and beyond our expectations and helped us in every way possible, even when we had stuff come up last second. We told them what we wanted and they were able to make it all happen. I would highly recommend this place if looking for an event venue in New Orleans.

Rene B.

Yelp
I recently had my wedding and reception at Generations Hall. Lyle is the manager there and everything could not have gone better. The venue is awesome and can handle smaller or larger groups, has audio/video capabilities, a DJ, lighting options, a stage, several bars, and is centrally located in the warehouse district of downtown New Orleans. Lyle was so accommodating and made everything so easy! I highly recommend this venue for any kind of event and be sure to ask for Lyle; you won't be disappointed!

Jaimie J.

Yelp
Generations Hall pulled out all the stops to help us host an amazing event! From the very beginning, they were extremely responsive and helpful with the venue preparations, catering recommendations and all the details that we needed to coordinate for our event. Lyle and the team helped us get everything set up and during the event, they provided fantastic bar service and made sure all of our guests were completely taken care of. The venue itself was beautiful so we didn't need to do much in the way of decor. Plus, the location can't be beat - we were in town for a convention and the venue was just a couple of blocks from the convention center and our hotel. If you're looking for a great venue be sure to give them a call!

Yelp
No thanks. I've been here multiple times, and the food and service has been consistently poor. While it looks nicer than the last time I went here, I'm still not a fan. There isn't any parking, and the line never moves fast no matter what the event you're attending is.
google avatar

Christopher J.

Yelp
Came here for an event with my SO. I didn't realize they must have renovated the place recently, because it's way different than I remember. Anyway, it was nice enough. Comfortable couches and chairs around tables were available, as were tall chairs and tables. Getting drinks at the (open) bar didn't take too long, and the whole place seemed to be pretty clean. In general, the venue did a good job. I just hope the food wasn't catered by them...
google avatar

Annie F.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and haven't had complaints until my last visit. The contract our group signed with them indicated that they were REQUIRED to serve us free water, but when I asked, they charged for a bottle of voss. When we decided not to tip on the bottle of water we didn't ask for, they threw our change at our faces. Very rude, I am not impressed with the way they treat customers at all. I recommend you look elsewhere.

Yelp
This place is Crazy. Closing ceremony for Generation Blue. Great Music. Brendan O'Hara band was great!

Carlo C.

Yelp
Great staff and large venue for events. Do need outside caterer for food but staff has plenty of recommendations.

Jamie S.

Yelp
Shame on you for telling your bartenders not to serve tap water and instead sell bottled water for $4 during the Running of the Santa's. After drinking all afternoon before the run and buying drinks at this establishment all evening, where do you come off with this policy?
google avatar

Jon A.

Yelp
Nice evening ruined by a totally incompetent valet service. This venue has a major parking problem. This forces guests into a $20 plus expectation of tip valet line. Witnessed valet run over a large cone with the patron in front me's Lexus. As well as several instances of the valet losing and misplacing patron's keys, and allowing patron's to select their own keys from the valet booth, which creates a major security issue. After driving away, I realized the valet had torn off and damaged my shifter, because he couldn't get my car in gear. I believe the valet was run by a company called Oracle, but this venue needs to be responsible for oversight of the vendors they hire. I would not patronize this venue again because if this experience. Unless you drive a hoopty and don't care, Stay away.
google avatar

Sandro A.

Yelp
This is a wonderful venue that we selected in 2009 for our annual Chapters party, an event at the SIGGRAPH conference that welcomes thousands of guests. Generations Hall was chosen because of its location (close to the convention center where the conference was being held), and because of its large scale. Other important factors were the clean, fun interior decor, as well as the fabulous distribution of the spaces (in any of the 3 main halls, one finds nooks, balconies, elevated walkways, dance areas, lounge areas, all interwoven and accommodating any kind of party mood). The staff were also super friendly and helpful; the only thing I minded is that I had the bad luck of meeting 2 bartenders who kept ignoring me while waiting at the bar (in our initial visit back in April '09 AND at the event itself in August).

Yelp
Only time I visit Generations Hall is when we go there for a fundraiser. Like we did on Friday night. I like the place. The various levels to the building provides for a series of different feels during the night. You can go out on the dance floor, or lean on the railing from one of the elevated walkways and balconies to watch the dancers. There are plenty of nooks to escape it all and recharge, or just hang in the lounge. I suspect last night's fundraiser was a success, based on the crowd milling through the building. We did our part, coming home with two of the silent auction baskets.
