"The Inner Richmond’s Genki Ramen has quietly closed and transformed into Teruya Ramen & Drink (3944 Geary Boulevard). The new restaurant retains the ramen focus with tonkotsu and miso bases both on offer. Some izakaya-style small plates are also available, such as takoyaki, croquettes, and chicken karaage." - Janelle Bitker

A hole-in-the-wall with ambience and moody lighting, serving tasty food behind a medieval-looking door. This restaurant always looked closed, but I finally decided to open the door today to order the Chashu Braised Pork Belly, the first item on the menu posted on the window, to go. Inside were beautiful hanging lights and an assortment of plants that gave the place a cozy atmosphere. There was only one other customer who was about to leave at the time I entered. After ordering and paying over $8 ($7 +taxes), I asked the cashier if it was always that empty and she said no. Apparently, there used to be lots of customers before the pandemic, but since it was a barbeque place, they needed special tables. It's a small restaurant with a small storefront, and next to a parking lot, so there isn't really room to build a parklet or put tables outside. I got my food about nine minutes after ordering, in a medium-sized paper bag, which felt a little light. When I got home, I excitedly opened the bag to see what was inside. It was three pieces of pork belly (which, by the way, is one of the cheaper cuts of pork) inside a tiny aluminum container, with a piece of arugula on top. I was a bit underwhelmed. Each piece was about the size of two Chapstick containers side-by-side. The pork belly was very tender and basically melted in my mouth. It was some great pork belly, and because it was protein and fat, it was filling. Still, I expected more. This is a nice hole-in-the-wall that most people walk past without thinking. The service was excellent and the food was delicious, but I expected more than three pieces of pork for the price. However, based on other reviews, the ramen is probably fantastic. I really want to give five stars, but my experience was worth four stars.

It did not meet my expectation. I ordered ramen chasui and it is nothing special. Green tea is from can. Unbelievable. My daughter ordered Yakisoba beef pepper. It tastes nothing but pepper all the way. The room smell bad. I would not recommend it to others.

Google
Really good ramen! The bbq pork is super tender and delicious. Egg was cooked perfectly.

Feeling pretty lucky to stumble across this place today - it's my new favorite ramen spot in SF! Enjoy.

Really good veggie ramen with tofu & super cheap drinks! Looks quiet, almost closed, but definitely worth going in

Google
This place is killer and has some of the best ramen in the city. It's always pretty busy in here and you'll see why when you order. The broth in all the ramen warms your body like your grandma's famous chicken noodle, only with a little Asian twist. The happy hour is pretty great for beer and the prices overall are unbelievable considering how much and how good the food is. They're always playing great Top 40 radio in here too, always a party!

Google
This is our go-to place for delivery ramen, but he restaurant itself never seems to be super busy so when we go there in person. I'd probably give it a 3.5 out of 5 given the option, but the fact that delivery is generally quick and the food still hot gives it that extra 0.5. I've only ever had the ramen, but I'm assuming if you're looking at the restaurant you're primarily interested in ramen. I've yet to have a bad experience and I've had everything from the Chasu, Kimchi, to the Butter ramen (I've gone through the entire list). Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for decent ramen without much of wait. Sure, there are better places in the city, but sometimes I just want it delivered or not wait an hour to eat. My only real complaint would be that when the ramen is delivered the soup base isn't labeled with which ramen it comes with. Some soups use the same base, but it isn't particularly obvious at times until it's too late...

Great ramen for a reasonable price with other tasty side dishes

Yelp
This place is a good option if you're in the area ! Not my favorite but still a satisfying ramen choice !

Yelp
First time... Bbq or ramen option for your dining pleasure. We chose the ramen path. 2 options - Tonkatsu or vegetarian. There are extra side options at a cost. Limited appetizers. Service staff was friendly and efficient. The ramen was hearty and filling. Overall, a good meal.

Yelp
Sad veggie broth in the ramen. It had kelp, tofu, corn, and mushrooms, but the broth was sadly tasteless. Bummer!

Yelp
First visit after many deliveries for the fantastically rich tonkatsu during pandemic (I always got XXXtra spicy with fried shallots and extra egg). I did not know they had in-table barbecue - I was later informed that they merged with Camp from next door so basically we get best of both and a little more flexibility with the menu. I hosted some local relatives there who are mostly used to going to the usual areas of town for entertaining dining experiences so this was a nice departure from what can become a routine. The interactivity of doing your own grilling was such a hit and is probably best to do with 4+ people. Otherwise the Ramen is killer...

Yelp
Popped in for a bowl of ramen because the craving hit hard when the drizzle came last week. I ordered the standard pork ramen, added spinach for some extra , medium spicy + a side of kimchi I will absolutely be back. Quality ingredients. And WOW that kimchi... I had to stop myself from ordering ten sides to go

Yelp
After a long absence, Genki Ramen reopened in a new nearby location which brings a welcomed addition to the area. I've had Genki Ramen in the past before their old place changed ownership and became Teruya Ramen. However, I did not recall the ramen being anything special. However, it looks like they upped their game since then because the ramen I had recently is actually pretty good! The toppings were fairly generous and the pork belly was nice and thick. The soup base felt just right and full of flavor. Service was incredibly quick as well. They are only open in the evenings so when I went to order, there was no line. I ordered the tonkotsu chashu ramen for takeout and it was ready quite fast, like 5 mins. The noodles and toppings were kept in one container with the piping hot soup in a separate one. I'd definitely recommend if you are looking for good, fast ramen for just the right price.

Yelp
Had a delicious ramen and grill dinner. Tasty food, nice staff, cute atmosphere. All around win. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Sat there for 30 mins and not getting any service at all. Not even to take our orders or water. New management is terrible, could hear them argue in the kitchen. Would not recommend, we walked out after sitting there for 30 mins waiting for service.

Yelp

Yelp
Great ramen and BBQ spot. We ended up here because our favorite ramen spot was closed for the night, and I'm really happy we tried Genki! The servings were generous, the ramen was delicious, and it was nice to grill some veggies while we were waiting. The Chasu ramen medium spicy was just right (I really like spicy stuff but I wouldn't go any higher). Service was friendly and atmosphere was nice. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
It's a little misleading cause it's actually a Korean bbq spot called home now but they're ok letting you think it's still genki ramen. The ramen itself is just ok. I just didn't like being lied to. Going to just go to Kaiju Eats instead now.

John Y.

Yelp
Genki Ramen is back near their old spot just over to the next block where Camp is. I missed them when they decided to close their business a year or two ago. Although a limited menu due to Covid, as long as I get my Chasu Ramen fix, I am happy. Hope small business like them will get some support from locals during these tough times.

Yelp
I don't often write reviews (hence the idiotic user name) but this place was great. I ordered the veggie ramen, and it was flavorful, reasonably priced, and filling. The soup base had a nice peppercorn spiciness to it (I ordered it medium spicy) that I wasn't expecting but that I quite enjoyed. I'll be ordering again from here for sure. Oh, and they handwrote my name and a thank you on the bag! It was sweet.
