Genna Rae Wings & More...

Just take the okra off the menu. Please. The breading is way too thick and they taste like they’ve been in the freezer since last year. The wings were good (good size, cooked with a perfect crisp) but the lemon pepper didn’t have much lemon flavor. The pics don’t show the CRAZY amount of grease that were seeped into the wings. So much grease that it squirts out when you take a bite. Bring an apron or bib if that’s not a deal breaker for you.

Solidly middle of the road experience. Looks like the obvious reason to come here is the wings, nothing else seems consistently good. Sadly I didn’t get the wings, but got the fried chicken sandwich instead. I’m on a mission to find a good fried chicken sandwich in town from a place that brines their chicken before frying. Genna’s sandwich had very similar vibes to a Popeye’s sandwich but wasn’t particularly good, although it seems like it has potential to sometimes be good. The bun, mayo and pickles were promising but the chicken itself was dry and tough like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Breading had an unusually dry and almost sandy texture like it had a lot of cornstarch in it or something. All in all, might come back one or two more times to try it and see if they’re consistent but first visit wasn’t what I was hoping for.

Stars for the smoked, tender oxtails. Everything else was a no 🙅‍♀️. Im so sad because I really wanted to like this place, but other than the oxtails, the food was soo bad. Tough brisket, overfried okra, plain mac n cheese and I got a 6 piece lemon pepper wing that I hoped would've made up for that brisket but no.

First time coming here and I was very impressed. I ordered 36 wings and got the honey hots, garlic hots, jerk, and honey BBQ. All were fantastic. The hot flavors weren't so hot that my face was sweating and that I felt like I had to get through them, just really good flavor and the perfect amount of heat. The honey hot, garlic hot, and jerk were the best of the four, I can't pick.... Maybe the honey hots were the best. Glad my friends told me to come here. Will definitely be back again. Also, they got the whole order done in like 15 minutes, though, it was like 220pm when I ordered, so not super busy, but I was still impressed with the speed.

I thought I was going to get some really great food here! The food was TERRIBLE and very Disappointing! I spent $60 on overpriced low quality food. I guess they pre-make the sandwiches because the bread was soggy and the food looks as if It was just reheated and sold to us. I ordered a fish sandwich and a cheeseburger both lacking flavor and crispyness. I also ordered the wings which is the only thing that saved the food. The fries clearly tasted as if they were from the frozen section of the grocery store soaked in oil. Lordt! It was a mess. My first and last time. I threw it in the trash.

Genna Rae's in Denver is a hidden gem I just discovered. Coming from NY where Caribbean food is an abundance compared to Denver, l didn't think l'd get so lucky upon arrival, finding one of the most delicious Caribbean spots. Gen is the owner, he's also a chef and a father, naming this cozy culturally rooted joint after his daughter. Highly recommend Genna Rae's, you won't be disappointed.

Love the vibes from owners!!! Honey hot wings were not what I was looking for the original hot was good. The greens tasted canned but no meat in my greens. Red beans and rice was ok I ate that first.

I thought the wings were really good because they were very meaty and cooked to crispy perfection. I got two flavors consisting of lemon pepper and hot garlic. The hot garlic did not taste like garlic at all and I believe they have mixed up the sauce with a different one as it was pretty sour. The drink we ordered was initially the incorrect one too but that was fixed right away. Kind of a hole in the wall type of look and no seating so just be sure to be getting your wings to-go.

We adore this restaurant. Their food is UNMATCHED in Denver when it comes to quality and price. Definitely worth the drive from Denver, which is only about 20 minutes. From the wings to sandwiches, we are never disappointed and have been back several times. The staff is SO kind and seem passionate about what they're doing. It's a counter order kind of place, but there's a cute neighborhood and a public library right next door if you want to wander while you wait! They bring the food right outside to your car, which is very convenient. If you're craving BBQ, something spicy, or just a DELICIOUS meal, you have to try out Genna Rae's.

Some of the best wings and collards I've had in Denver. Ordered when I was stuck on bed rest and they hit every craving I had.

Soul food- omg! We were craving wings and this was the perfect spot. Note they are take out only- there's a picnic bench outside but not a ton of options -so best to prep for a picnic if you don't live close. I tried wings, catfish, greens and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was just ok. The wings are definitely the star- must eat! I was licking my fingers.

Hands down best wings in Denver, the sandwiches are also amazing and flavorful. Genn, the owner is amazing and treats you like family. Best sauces in my opinion, habanero mango pineapple, honey hot, honey barbecue. The homemade jerk sauce is also the best jerk sauce I've ever tasted. This is a neighborhood staple for a reason, consistent quality and great local ambiance.

I genna rae a shot a few years ago and they are always substituting out your order or forgetting items altogether. Stopped coming for awhile. Ordered twice last week and they did phenomenal. I thought maybe a diff chef and I'll put them in my rotation again. Tried again today, more missing items and subbed out food. Shame. Really want to support you guys.

There is no way that this is not a 5 star food joint in the triple D category. I got a burger and wings from here and they just knocked it out of the park. The burger was easily a half pound and was certainly one of the best burgers I've ever had from food joint. The wings were good. Great BBQ on them. I was slightly concerned they were a little undercooked, but it turned out just fine! The place is just not what you would expect. There's 0 seating. The building is barely larger than a food truck and it seems like it's a meh area of town. The cashier, whom I'm assuming might own or co-own was very delightful. We ended up waiting about an hour for all of us to get our food due to our group size, but he sent a bunch of extra wings. Overall I could have eaten a burger from here every day and been happier than a clam while we stayed there. Highly recommend it.

Our first time here &our LAST! This is a NO! The jerk chicken is cube chicken , I was confused I thought it was gonna be legs or thighs and it is SALTY! SALTY! SALTY WE ALSO GOT THE RIB DINNER AND THE RIBS ARE TUFF! SALTY ! Sides are good Not worth $48.00

Lord have mercy. After one visit, I have seen the light! I sure do miss Southern comfort food. Living in Colorado, we don't have too many places doing it the right way. I just had my mind blown after eating at Genna Rae Wings. I truly did not expect the food to be this good. Everything was lights out! Things to note: + This is a takeout only establishment. + Food is made to order, so it'll take 15-20 minutes. + There's one picnic table in between the restaurant and the library. + They're known for wings (obviously) and Southern specialties. + The price point is fair for the amount of food you get. + Odds are you'll end up in a food coma, so don't make plans after. + The food is really damn good!! Genna Rae's is a wonderful black-owned establishment in the Whittier neighborhood. This is a prime example of "don't judge a book by its cover." Because from the outside, it's nothing special to look at. But I promise you the quality of food you'll receive is spectacular. I ordered a platter, which you can select two proteins and two sides. They even throw in a slice of bread and extra sauces for you. $20 well spent if you ask me. The employee couldn't even close the box of food it was piled so high. Now this is my type of place! + Hot Garlic Wings // Meaty, tender and drenched in spicy hot sauce. Oh, the garlic. SO MUCH GARLIC. Music to my ears. These wings were real deal, legitimately spicy. My new favorite hot wings in Denver. + Fried Catfish // CRUNCH-A-LICIOUS. I neglected the tartar sauce and dipped the crispy, flaky catfish in straight hot sauce. Let me tell you what, I was transported to the South. Absolute heaven. + Mac & Cheese // Some of the creamiest, butteriest, most decadent mac & cheese I've had in a hot sec. I couldn't put the fork down. I'm not being facetious, I LITERALLY could not put down the fork. Absolutely delicious. + Collard Greens // Exactly what I needed from greens. I'm a greens-eating fool. It was nice to have a balance from all the rich and full blown flavors I was experiencing from the other items. Genna Rae Wings is churning out outstanding Southern comfort food. This is a black-owned business you need to support YESTERDAY. Get down here and get you some truly amazing food!

I will never give my money to this establishment ever again. Thank you for having absolutely no integrity regarding my order, and I spent over $100, and did not receive my food. Would give a zero review if I could.

The wings were great amazing hole in the wall. Made fresh. The catfish was perfectly seasoned. Also got the banana pudding which was amazing and beef tips where out of bounds! Definitely a must try in Denver! Owner is a great guy had an amazing conversation about his story. Always will support a minority entrepreneur.

We live close by to Miss Genna Rae's and we are so lucky! A very small kitchen with no seating inside, this place serves up fabulous soul food bringing some much needed flavor to Denver! We ordered the cheeseburger, catfish, sweet potato fries and Mac and cheese and greens. Everyone at the table was silent- which you know it means it was incredible. That cheeseburger with the toasted bun is FABULOUS. Cooked to perfection, old school cheeseburger vibes! The CATFISH, though! Wow! Best catfish on Denver! Go to this place and enjoy the incredible food. The staff are really cool. This is a hidden gem!

Oh my goodness this little gem has the best burger ever..I can't believe they have been in business for 8 years and this is our first time experiencing them! Ok..so great burger, wings and peach cobbler.. take out only which is ok for us..parking on the street is fine.. its right on the alley between Williams and high on 28th..north side of the street..they do have one picnic table outside! Really sweet people and Dawn was great! You won't be disappointed..oh I forgot we had the big papa burger with no pickles and it feeds 4 easy or better be real hungry lol! So delicious

The food is good but they can't get the food out in a timely fashion. I waited more than half an hour for chicken tenders. Mind you, there's no seating. I was just standing around on the sidewalk for 35 minutes waiting for chicken tenders. Follow up: after 45 minutes I still hadn't received my order and simply had to leave without ever getting my food because I had to be somewhere.

Great service, food was really good, but the peach cobbler was not good unfortunately. Sometimes having a lot of items on the menu does not guarantee quality dishes. But I think I'll try one of the cakes next. I ordered: 8pc wing with a side of greens (amazing) and a side of sweet potatoes (also amazing) Catfish with mac n cheese (delicious) and plantain (also delicious)

Ah good tasty wings made to order. They were hot fresh, cooked to perfection and definitely worth the wait. It has been a long since I had good wings that the skin.and.meat were cooked perfectly and I was able to.eat both. The seasonings are applied with expertise. They will be added to my " regular" list. The service is consistent and they are attentive. They food was made to order with no mistakes.

Great wings! Island zest seasoning was my favorite. The staff were very friendly and helpful despite the crazy crowds during the Super Bowl. I had to wait a long time (45 min) for my pre-order pickup but understandable due to the popularity on Super Bowl Sunday. My rating today is based on the staff and food, not the wait time. I'll have to return on a less busy day for a to-go order. There isn't really an area to sit, but the parks nearby would be cute to sit at for a picnic.

Came here after trying to eat at the last restaurant and it seemed decent a little pricey but sounded good. Waited 30 minutes food was cold and then we found a piece of glass in the beans which were ice cold ! Apparently the owner said it was from the food processor? Moral of the story even without that the food was about a 6 overall I got the catfish and wings honey hot sauce was like the sauce for wontons... I should have stuck to Nola Jane.

Where do I begin? 5 stars is not enough...they need 10+! The food was beyond amazing, we had wings, fries, a bacon cheeseburger, sweet potato salad, mac n cheese and Pound cake and EVERYTHING was delicious. The exceptional service we received from "Dawn" at the front counter just put the visit over the top. This was the best part of our trip to Denver, and we drove over an hour in the rain to get here. Definitely worth the trip!

I'm glad I was in the area and got to try this place. I would say it's a to-go service-style restaurant as they have no seating area or tables outside. I would recommend ordering your food beforehand. I waited 15 minutes to place my order and another 30 minutes to get it, which was okay. I was in no rush. I got the two-meat meal with six wings and catfish, with greens and mac & cheese. Overall, everything was good. The catfish was delicious. The wings were great. I ordered the raspberry mango habanero sauce. I wish they were a little more spicy, but great flavor . The greens and mac & cheese were good but not great. To sum it up, the staff was friendly, and the food was great. I recommend stopping in to check this place out if you are in the area.

Tried to order thru Grubhub. Order confirmed then it cancelled. Called Genna Rae and they said to try Doordash. That worked but Mac n cheese doesnt show on doordash menu! Called again. They were SO accommodating with friendly service. I was ordering from CA to my sons family and they said it was delicious! Cant wait for my next trip to Denver to try for myself.

That was hands down the worst brisket i have ever had. What kind of maniac cubes brisket, cooks all moisture out of it and them slops a sickly sweet BBQ Sauce on top? I ended up throwing most of my meal away. the okra definitely came out of a freezer bag and tasted as such. The cobbler crust was beyond soggy, was grainy and had a wierd after taste. The banana pudding definitely tasted like it came out of a tub. So disappointing.

Ordered about an hour before close and got a call a few mins later telling me my food would be ready sooner than it had said. When I picked it up the box was HEAVY. Full of some good food. Deffo worth every penny.

I used to swear by fire on the mountain but then I had Genna Rae Wings! Some of the biggest and most delicious chicken wings I have had in Denver! It's a small and locally owned shop with some of the best customer service! Next time you need wings- go for Genna Rae's! You will NOT be disappointed!

The food was awesome! Big portions and honestly worth the money! I got a double cheeseburger with some fries and when I tell you that burger was perfectly seasoned and the fries were great aswell! The double cheeseburger was big enough for me and my husband to eat and to get full! Totally gonna run through their whole menu for the rest of the month! I wish pictures could do them some justice but seriously folks try them out!

We placed an order based on their pricing on their website, when we went to pick up our order the pricing was completely different. I showed the owner the website he claimed he knew nothing about his website. He was very rude the place is not clean at all and he suggested to another customer in the one lonely chair that we were trying to get something for free. I love to support small businesses but I wouldn't recommend this one!

What a huge disappointment this place was. Wings were SEVERELY overcooked! Left in the fryer wwwaaayyy too long. Biting through the bread king to the meat took almost as hard a bite as you can muster. Breading was harsh, tough, yet also rubbery. The meat within was somewhat juicy, but would have been much more so had the proper cook time been executed. Veggie burger was decent. A- to B+ range. It was a good size. Have had better and had worse. Service. Mixed. Upon entering, two men were at the counter. As soon as I announced I was there to try them out, they both disappeared for at least 5 minutes - no one manning the front/register. When one of them came back to register, he profusely apologized, which is definitely appreciated yet the scenario was weird. Wings were in D range, not even a C mediocre rating. Enormous disappointment given the raves in other reviews. They assuredly did *not* get my wings right, not even in the same galaxy. It's really surprising how low the bar Denver natives set for food in the area. Yet another mom & pop local place which Denverites rave about, but which would have trouble keeping their doors open in other major cities. I tried this place out, with the idea of my sibling trying it next time they visit Den. No way.

3.5 stars for Genna Rae Wings & More. While customer service and hospitality were great, it didn't quite match the taste of the food. I personally only ordered Mac and cheese and candied yams, and was slightly disappointed. Sides are $4.50 here -- cool, not a problem. Sizes were okay for the price but it's Black owned, so I didn't mind. When we got back to our Airbnb and tasted the food, the Mac and cheese was pretty good -- nothing special, but I love Mac and cheese so it was good enough to satisfy the craving. The yams were subpar. While they were cooked to perfection, they definitely weren't what I expected. Just yams and sugar water here, nothing to scream about. I barely ate half and was disappointed that I wasted $5. My friend ordered the catfish plate with a side of greens, Mac and cheese, and yams. We had similar opinions about the yams and Mac and cheese (she didn't finish her yams either), but I was disappointed at her review of the catfish: fish was okay, but there was too much bread. She took one bite of her peach cobbler and that was it, which she was really bummed about because that's why we went in the first place. Overall she wasn't impressed either. Great customer service at Genna Rae Wings & More, but that's all I can say. I see reviews about the wings -- maybe that's what we should've tried.

This was the best food I got while being in Denver honestly and I'm glad I got it last because I just would've been disappointed by everything else to follow. The wings were flavorful ! The plantains were juicy ! And the Texas toast was toasted perfectly. The only thing I can not vouch for is that macaroni because it taste like the instant Kraft macaroni. Service was quick and easy. Please don't count them out based on their brick and mortar looks, this food was delicious

This place is the Truth. My mans on the fryer knows how to listen when you say fry hard wings that's all I know. Didn't know they were Jamaican so the red beans and rice and Mac and cheese was hitting like someones auntie was cooking back there. Service is nice for such small spot and the ambiance made me feel welcomed with how they greet you. If ever in Denver I highly recommend trying this place out. Definitely coming back when I visit every time. (Black Owned ) Long story food was so good I tipped twice.

Absolutely blown away by the deliciousness of everything we ordered. From the wings (get the raspberry mango habanero sauce!) to the catfish to the sweet potato salad, fried plantains, and seasoned fries-- we are so pleased! Be prepared to wait for your food, but it WILL be worth it. The staff is great. I'm going to tell everyone I know to go!

The food is good. The service is super mediocre. The people taking your order are never friendly. Everyone who works there seems as if they don't want to be there. I waited an entire hour for an order and come to find out.. My order hadn't even been started. At first they claimed they couldn't find my order. But that was just to keep me waiting. There is no ambiance. It's a VERY small space. The food is the only thing saving this review. Please work on customer service, and getting food out in a decent timely manner especially for the food being served...

Picked up dinner here last night and was super happy! I had the Raspberry Mango Habanero wings (SO flavorful!) and my boyfriend had the fried chicken sandwich which was HUGE and he loved! We shared a side of macaroni and cheese which was amazing! Super rich. I think it's my boyfriends new favorite Mac and cheese. The food was hot even though it was takeout and we are definitely going back.

When asked what Minority Owned Restaurant I should visit, one that came up many times was Genna Rae's Wings and More. I finally happened to be in the area and decided to stop by. I wasn't sure what to expect when I pulled up to this small shop, although small in size, it is mighty in nature. The staff were very friendly and I even got the chance to meet and talk with the owner Genn. He was very sweet and he told me about his purpose and drive for getting the restaurant started. He felt like an uncle that I grew up with. He says he makes all of the seasonings catered to the various meats on the menu, and he smokes the ribs and pork/ chicken hot links fresh. Onto the food I ordered. I lived in ATL for a few years and a huge part of the food culture there is lemon pepper wet wings. Since having moved back to Colorado, I had been looking all over for wings that come in that flavor. Many places said they couldn't do the flavor or they said they could and they were just bland and oily. I had pretty much given up, but something told me to ask if they could make that flavor for me. I was beyond excited when they said yes. I ordered the mac n cheese and cornbread (they make this sweet which I was pleasantly surprised to learn). Biting into the wings was pure Heaven, they were made exactly as they should be. Zesty, tangy, buttery, and just flat out delicious. I finally found God lemon pepper wet wings outside of Georgia! The Mac n cheese was creamy, cheesy, and had great flavoring. It tasted home cooked with lots of love. The cornbread was okay I just think my tastes are used to Jiffy. All in all customer service, menu offerings, price, and taste bring in 10s all across the bosses. This is my new favorite spot that I will bring all of my friends and family to experience.

A hidden gem in a residential! We had the catfish the jerk chicken sandwich & wings. The best food I have had in a long time in Denver!! I will be back & spread the word of this soul food. Definitely good for the soul & stomach!!! Great service too.

The hours say open until 8 but they close the grill at 7:30 just fyi. Pure laziness. Doesn't look very clean on the inside so I wouldn't trust the food to be appetizing.

Genna Rae is one of my favorite places to get wings. The wings are season to perfection. Perfect balance of crispiness on the skin and juicy tenderness meat on the inside! The waffle fries are 10/10 too. My favorite sauce is the chili mango although you really can't go wrong with any one of them! The people there are so kind, nice and welcoming. I would always recommend this place to friends! One of the best small businesses in the area.

Only order here if you like to be quoted 30 minutes but it's actually gonna be 45! Came in to pick up a DoorDash order, being a black owned business I figured the food would be bomb, so I checked out their menu and saw lots of interesting unique wing flavors like Chile Mango and Pineapple Habanero, but being that I had to wait 40 minutes for this pick up, I was there long enough to be able to notice there was a stench of chicken that's been sitting out at room temp that made me gag. Then on top of that the cashier insinuated that my customers were trying to scam them by adding free drinks on to the order because on their order the drinks showed up as $0.00. So I did some digging myself in the DoorDash app in which I found ALL of their drinks are marked as $0.00, even after letting them know that they were the ones who priced the drinks wrong on DoorDash they still refused to give me the drinks the customers had ordered. Needless to say I will not be giving my money to an establishment that clearly doesn't care about their customers.

Everything on the menu is great and well worth the wait. It would be excellent if it were not carry out only.

This is one of me and my boyfriend's favorite spots in Denver and has been a go-to for us for the last couple of years. The wings are delicious!! We have tried basically everywhere in Denver and this is definitely our number one wing spot. My favorite sauce is the raspberry mango habanero. SO GOOD. We also both love the ribs, hot links, mac n' cheese, greens, red beans and rice, and baked beans. The sweet potato salad is something I had never tried anywhere else and love. And the texas toast. OMG my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Great food all the way around. A little slow but good food takes time, so plan ahead, and then enjoy!
