The 34 Essential Porto Restaurants

"In a city historically known for its Port wine, the number of good wine bars (with great food) has only recently improved. In a casual, cozy space on Miguel Bombarda Street, known for its art galleries and studios, Genuíno joins the trend with a sharp wine list focusing on organic and natural winemakers, mainly from Portugal, along with comforting yet creative dishes. The menu changes weekly — think cod fritters, Scotch egg, steak tartare, spinach pancakes — as do the wine options. Brazilian owners Gabriela Johann and Gustavo Schmidt just partnered with baker Jorge Mariano to open a sister pizzeria project next door, Generosa." - Rafael Tonon

The best place in Porto! The food dishes are very tasteful and they use an excellent quality of ingredients. The staff is well-prepared, professional and genuinely kind. They offer a good selection of Portuguese natural wines. Absolutely fabulous!

Really cool place and great for solo dining!! Very cool vibes with tables and bar seating. Waiters were all super friendly and helpful. Food was yummy - my favourite was the savoury cannoli. Not loads of options for wine if you don’t want to spend more for their ‘special’ wines but the white I got was great. Reservation definitely recommended.

Brilliant food, gorgeous plates for sharing, would highly recommend to anyone. Lovely selection of wines at really good prices, staff were all really helpful and knowledgable. Stand-out dishes were the pork cheek with oyster mayo and red pepper, and the chicken parfait on brioche with balsamic blueberries 🌟🌟

8.6/10 - Some absolutely spot on dishes. Inventive, fresh and reasonably priced dishes. Good service, however due to the popularity arrive on time for your booking you'll need it to try and digest all of the dishes. Strongly recommend the savoury cheese cake, clam lasagna and the bread. Recommend the fig tart and the peaches. I wouldn't bother with the pork neck or tomatoes.

we stumbled upon this place on our way to find dinner - it looked really inviting and the menu posted outside caught our interest. They were heavily booked that evening, but they managed to give us a small table for 2. boy were we glad they did! each dish was phenomenal - we really couldn't pick a single one that fell short of the others. the staff were very friendly and helpful. and of course the wine was great ;) sad to only be visiting Porto, and to not have another night left to visit this place!

Every single dish - both from the food menu and the wine list - was absolutely amazing. One of the best places I’ve ever been to, no matter the country. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

A funky little restaurant with an excellent selection of funky wine, all natural with no additives. The small, tapas-style dishes are beautifully presented and divine to taste. I went twice in one week!! A local recommended this place, and I highly encourage you to visit. The service was so warm and friendly too. The staff are young and kind!

A must visit when in Porto. The staff were kind and attentive. The wine menus is expansive and has something for everyone. We had an orange wine that was delicious and very unique. There were 2 of us and we ordered 5 plates + bread and butter. We left very full. Everything we ate was delicious and you could tell there was an incredible amount of thought and care put into every dish. Menu was vegetarian friendly. Would recommend booking in advance!
