I went for the first time with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It was so delicious and I cannot believe I've not been here before - I'll be back soon! Fish and chips 10/10, toastie 9/10, burger 9/10, salad 9/10. The buffalo cauliflower app was amazing and 10/10! Great atmosphere, great staff, all around excellent experience.

We were looking for a place to eat in the area and this place had good reviews so we checked it out. Food was really good. Many craft beer choices on tap and in bottles/cans. Good food, quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. I’ll definitely stop back if I’m in the area again.

Came in with family after reading the various reviews. Everything was excellent. Try the tomato bisque, the dragon burger, chicken Milanese, or the George burger. The caprese was my dish and it was excellent. The onion rings and “chips” are also delicious. Service was excellent, and the beers are well selected.

First time I visited the establishment. One of the finest meals I’ve ever enjoyed. At these prices I’m coming back often. The quality of beef was top notch. Even the peppercorns were amazing.

Reservations recommended!! We didn't know this is a hopping neighborhood spot and came in on a Monday evening without this knowledge. Luckily we scored a table without a reservation but it was by the door (very cold and loud). Food was tasty and good but not anything to rush back to enjoy or bring new friends. I enjoyed the pickle chips and the NA cider. Others with me enjoyed their food and had no complaints.

This was not our first time and won’t be our last. This place is such a gem. Me and hubby had a last minute reservation last night and our food and service was perfect. Our server Tara was lovely:)

We celebrated a birthday this Saturday with a lunch at George and the Dragon. Service was paced wonderfully and our server appeared at all the right times. The food was delicious Rave reviews of the fish and chips. The George Burger and Curry Chicken Salad were also very tasty. Don't miss ordering the Bacon and Onion dip to start and a bottle of Dragons Milk! Thank you to the Navarro's for your dedication to the residents of MPS, you are a gem for the neighborhood!

Food was great. Although the steak was cooked more med well than mid rare it was still very flavorful. I would cut back on the green peppercorns. They're a little overpowering. The pork ribs were very good. They had a nice crunch on the outside, but a little overcooked. Everything was seasoned well. The lemonade was delicious. I will be returning. Need to add bangers and mash to the menu. ;) overall good experience.

I meet three high-school buds every other month and it was my turn to pick a restaurant. I picked George and the Dragon. A cozy neighborhood bar restaurant. I walked in and was surrounded by families who had walked over to the 50th and Lyndale spot. Nice feeling!! Service was super friendly and timely. Food was above average bar food. I had the Asian Hangover . It was delicious. Great apps. All four of us loved our entrees. I definitely recommend George and the Dragon!!

Glad I was able to cross this off of my bucket list! There is street parking nearby. The space itself is small, so if going at dinner time there may be a bit of a wait. There is a small bar and thankfully we were able to snag some seats at the bar shortly after arriving so we skipped waiting for a table. It is a tad dim in the restaurant, but the vibes are cozy and warm. We started with the Bacon & Onion dip and it was DELICIOUS. It was creamy and savory, and made for the perfect appetizer! For an entree I got the Beef Rib Toastie with fries. The fries were very good and reminded me of my grandmas! The sandwich was tasty with cheddar, onion, arugula and horseradish cream. Personal preference- I'd probably get it without the arugula next time. Overall great experience and would go back!

I came here based on a recommendation from a friend who travels as much as I do and damn was this place great! I had no expectations as I was just looking to grab dinner but was left with a place I'll return every trip. The dinner was fantastic and the beer was a highlight for me. It was extremely cold and snowed that day so I needed a warm place to grab a pint and fill up on food and this checked those boxes perfectly. The staff were great and it kept this lonely guy entertained as we discussed the place and some of my travels - they must've noticed I was looking for someone to talk to that night. George and the Dragon I'll be back and perhaps more often than my friend who recommended if I can help it!

I love this little neighborhood pub because it is unique and offers some things that feel like my kind of comfort food. It can be hard to get into because it is popular with the locals so a wait should be expected around mealtimes. It has the feel of a well-loved community gathering spot. There are maybe a 18 beers and ciders on offer, both draft and cans with a few unique ones (there is a draft from the UK, a couple Belgians, many local micros, a couple in large format, etc.) plus10 or so wines by glass and bottle. What I really like about it though is the menu because it is less traditional US Bar food and more interesting with an International nod. The traditional churched up salads, burgers and fish and chips are there but the menu nods to Asia if you know where to look. They have Filipino Lumpia on the starters, a daily Indian curry special, and I finally found a rice bowl with good, short grain rice like I grew up with (not some Uncle Bens Converted crap from a box). While the rice bowl on the menu is great, my pro tip is to order the fall off the bone ribs from the starter menu, a side of rice, and 2 fried easy eggs. It is as close to a great plate lunch from HI that I have found in South Minnie. The staff here are great and the vibe is casual which makes it easy to want to go here for a meal with fam and friends to just share some time together. I discovered it kind of by accident from a server at another cafe that knows what I like. I decided to give it a try and have been coming back ever since. It really goes to show that a place does not have to be a fancified, trendy place in a hipster real estate district in order to be simply great in its own way. George & The Dragon is just that.

There are reasons you should make reservations for a weekday lunch Great food. Some familiar like great burgers and stunning fries. Some less familiar like Asian Hangover. Excellent drinks like fresh mad lemonade and really nice beers Service was also great with fun staff. The decor is also super comfortable And pricing was very reasonable. In a world of $12 meals at McDonald's, $15 to $20 of such quality is a deal Definitely on the list to return too

We had dinner here a few weeks ago on a Wednesday evening. Street parking was pretty full but we only needed to walk a block. It was 7:30 and we did not have a reservation. We were told it would be over 30 minutes so we wandered into the gift store next store and checked back in 20 minutes and our table was ready. We all loved our dishes, and we were glad we did not skip dessert because the key lime was some of the best I've had outside of Florida. Great service, fun pub atmosphere, and stellar food.

Couldn't wait to try this after seeing diners drive in and dives. Had the onion and bacon dip. That was wonderful. The teriyaki ribs were a bit dry. I will try the burger next time.

This place is fantastic! It's chill pub vibes with delicious, satisfying food and refreshing beers in the big mugs! We went for my boyfriend's birthday and had a great time! Our server was wonderful and even gave him a birthday card signed by the staff and a small percentage discount to our meal! Would totally recommend if you're looking for a cozy, fun atmosphere with comfort food!

We popped in here on a snowy night for dinner with friends. It has a nice pub-like atmosphere, and I was really impressed with the range of the menu. Three of us ended up going for the Asian Hangover and it was great! Highly recommend! One of my dining partners is gluten free and there were plenty of options that worked for her. The portions were a nice size and the pricing was reasonable. I appreciated that they had a variety of beer and wine options without it being overwhelming. I would definitely come back in the future, though I'd love if it had a little more of an ambiance to it.

I immediately entered it in my 'Want to Go' list - and since our son and his fiancé also enjoy unique food, we found ourselves making reservations for dinner later that weekend. I have to admit a bit of apprehension when we first walked in, as it appeared to be a very high-end restaurant...and you know what that means: $$$$. Once the menus were distributed and I got my first look at the pricing, my stress levels dissipated. In the end, I gave Value a 5* rating (a rarity for me). While the portions were a little small (I'd say reasonable...I had room for dessert and didn't leave feeling stuffed), the pricing was also what I would consider reasonable - especially given the quality of the food. So, let's get into the good stuff...the delicious food! I wasn't sure that we could eat appetizers in addition to our main courses, but others at the table thought better, so we started with an order of Onion Rings (see pictures) and Bacon Onion Dip (see picture). Both of them were delicious and are highly recommended! The dip was so creamy, yet light at the same time and the onion rings were some of the best I've had - golden brown appearance, they bit off cleanly with the rest of the ring remaining intact and a great ratio of batter to onion. For our main courses, I ordered the Beef Rib Toastie (see picture) and others ordered the Steak Sandwich (see picture), Asian Hangover (see picture), Braised Beef Rib (see picture) and Crispy Chicken (see picture). All of them had great reviews from our wonderful server, Peyton - and all are highly recommended. If you follow my reviews, you know that we usually all order different things at our table and share samples - so I can tell you firsthand that all of them were delicious! The desserts all looked wonderful also, but we resisted - so that will have to be the subject of a future review... We were in a hurry to have lunch before we headed out to the airport and found George & The Dragon along the way. Man what a great spot, it's rare for me to be impressed with food anymore. Our waitress Rachel was spectacular, so friendly and accommodating. Inside is nicely decorated and spotless. The food was delicious! One of the best fish & chips I've ever had. We're so glad we stopped by, and can't wait to return!

This was an awesome find! We tried the Asian hangover and the salmon. Both were great! The server was attentive and helpful with recommendations. There is limited parking but we have never had an issue finding a spot.

Super friendly staff who were very attentive. Menu options were varied but not overwhelming which I appreciated. Kid friendly with high chairs and a little book section. It was a warm, cozy and bright filled vibe. Food was tasty all around and portions were giving British (not a ton which to me was a good thing)which is on par for a pub. Would def come back!

This place is consistently good! Been going to it since 2013 and even when I was assigned overseas, I made sure to visit this place everyone I go back to Minnesota. Great rotating tap if you like to try new beers. They also have wine selections that pairs well with the food. A very casual dinner that's good for a date or a group. They also accept reservations, just call ahead. This place is worth a try if you're new in the area. It's like coming into a British Pub!

My god the zucchini chips here are amazing. I had the Katherine salad which was more delicious than good. It was a Tuesday afternoon and there were a handful of people drinking beer at the bar (who are these people?) but a truly unique restaurant and great food

Bustling pub with homey food and tight knit, neighborhood feel. Visiting on a cold, Saturday evening, the interior of George's immediately warmed us. With big, welcoming booths, tables spread about in the center, and a bar off to the side, George's layout is simple, effortless, and inviting. Not to mention the staff friendly, the service excellent, and the food tasty. In true pub form, the variety of beers on tap, including Lagers, IPAs, Stouts, Cream Ales, Blondes and Sours, are sure to suit a range of presences. Along with a few beers, we started with the recommended Bacon and Onion Dip. An unassuming white dish comes filled with a warm and spreadable cheese mixture infused with onion and bacon bits. Simple slices of toasted bread act as a vehicle for this creamy goodness. Although we devoured the rich dip, our hunger staved off, we proceeded to order three additionally rich dishes. The Dragon's Milk Braised Beef Rib was a table favorite. Fall apart beef melts with velvety mashed potatoes and vibrant snap peas. The Classic Fish and Chips was solid. Strips of fried Alaskan Cod in finger-like pieces came with homemade tartar sauce and thick cut fries. I ordered the Dragon Burger with a single patty, melty pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo and pickled peppers. I wash the patty had been a bit juicer and the bun a bit softer, but the battered snap peas that accompanied the burger made up for any slight dissatisfaction. With a perfectly oily yet light and crispy coating, these peas dipped in a touch of aioli are magic. A true pub in the adorable Lynnhurst neighborhood!

Only had the key lime tart. $8.50. It is one of the better ones outside of the Florida Keys. Well worth the price. I stopped by at about 7:30 and they had a 45 minute wait for a table. So I would recommend a reservation for a table or ever to gat a tart to go.

Our book club was looking for a themed restaurant for our meeting. We had just finished the Fourth Wing and this place was a perfect match! Tasteful dragons sprinkled among a warm space. Cute a cozy but I suggest you call ahead because even on a Monday at 6:30 it can be a 30 - 45 min wait. The staff was so kind and kept us informed. Patina is right next door perfect for browsing while you wait. The service was fast and the food was great. The Cheeseburger was wonderfully made and was a great portion.

Excellent dining experience. The indoors is very cozy and there might be wait but it's well worth it. We got some amazing local brews. We tried the lumpia and the specials were to die for, and the fish and chips were absurdly delicious. The service was kind and engaged.

We looked this restaurant up on Yelp while visiting and touring around Minneapolis Minnesota. We decided on having lunch here. The restaurant was pretty busy but there were two booths open and we were seated quickly. We read the tips about the bacon onion dip and wanted to try it! It was so delicious, if you go, you have to try it! It comes with enough grilled toast pieces to finish the dip! Their hand cut chips are also good dipped in the dip. I tried the homemade ginger ale, it was delicious. Had nice small pieces of fresh ginger in it and was served with a slice of lime-great combo. For my entree I decided on the: BEEF RIB TOASTIE Aged Widmer cheddar, caramelized onion arugula, horseradish cream It was served on-nicely toasted bread. It was tasty but for the price I think they could put at least one more meat slice. Only had two slices. I had to immediately look up the recipe for the bacon onion dip-it is online. Our server was very good, and took care of us. We were offered dessert but had to turn it down, we were full. Bonus: they have actual cloth towels in the rest room which is unisex.

Little snippet of comfort food in Minneapolis with a unique twist of goodness! The main gentleman who was by the door, was a delight greeting everyone and you could feel the care in this place! Both Nate and I liked our meals and made plans of what we would get next! Great little date night place!!

Great reviews so I tried delivery. Wrong salad was delivered and the fish dish (salmon) ordered was in the $20ish rate but I was not satisfied at all. The taste was less than mid, it was not filling (small serving), and it's something you can just make at home. I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew. The ribs were 10/10 tho but the lumpia was less than mid too, being Filipino myself. Not gonna order again, unfortunately.

Okay wow - I can't believe I've gone this long without experiencing the bacon and onion dip! We came in for dinner and started with the DDD recommended app and were immediately blown away. For dinner we had the steak sandwich and their special of the moment: wild caught Alaskan halibut. The sandwich was a classic but the special really wowed us! For dessert we had a creme brûlée that was the perfect ending to the meal. Our server was fantastic and funny, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. I can't wait to come back!

George and the Dragon is an excellent restaurant. Great food and great service. Even a nice bathroom with cloth towels to dry your hands. We started with the Tomato Basil soup. They split into 2 cups so we could share an order and that was perfect. It comes with pretzel bread - which is excellent. We both had a burger and they were cooked to medium rare as requested. Toppings on the Uncle Bryan burger included blue cheese, bacon and avocado. The fries here are stellar, nice and thick. But I recommend the battered snap peas - my favorite. We never make it to dessert here as we are always full.

Great place for happy hour or if you want dinner. I had the short ribs and it was good. The lumpia was great but the dipping sauce could use some work. They do have a long wait though. So anticipate waiting outside.

Ate here last night, it was wonderful! Got to George & The Dragon at about 5:30 on a Wednesday. Put my name in for a table for two, about a 40 minute wait but my friend and I went to The Malt Shop next door while we waited. Very friendly and courteous staff. The ambiance in this place was good, music at a perfect volume, good yellow/amber lighting..loved it! Now the food 10/10! We ordered the Bacon Onion dip for the table, was very tasty and the portion was good for the price. $12. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and chips. $14. The chicken was perfectly cooked and breaded lightly, a good fresh bun which in my opinion makes or breaks a sandwich, it also had a house sauce and avocado on it. So tasty! For a side I got the Homemade Chips(fries) and they were also good, could tell they were fresh! I highly recommend this place, will for sure go back!

I saw a video on Youtube where this guy who looks like a member of NSYNC explained how good it was and yes, I believed him. I mean, I think he's from Minnesota. I think. Anyway, we drove across town and I have very mixed emotions about the place. The food was made from high-quality ingredients (you can tell) but there seemed to be a fundamental error that was made when this place opened. The question that wasn't asked was "Is this place a bar or a restaurant?" Now, this question has led to the demise of a number of restaurants, because who wants to eat at a place where they make all their money off booze and the food is just good enough to satisfy a drunk. But this place has really good food, surrounded by service and atmosphere that's just good enough to satisfy a drunk. They did bring us water, but glasses were dirty (lip prints.... gross). No condiments or anything else on the table. I had to ask for salt. Our server looked and acted exhausted. Not her fault, I guess. But I came for a sandwich, not to play an extra in a zombie movie. The prices are VERY reasonable. The food was beautiful to look at but, doggone it, it WAS kinda bland. Not sure what that's about.... is bland the new good? Parking was just acceptable. Trouble is, Minneapolis is famous for TOWING your car so be advised. Finally, it might be just fine after three drinks. I don't know.

This place is an absolute stand out in the metro. If you come for one thing and one thing only, get the bacon dip app. I really don't think you can go wrong here menu wise. Everything was incredible. Great burgers, apps and the ribs were fall of the bone perfection. Add this to your must go stops for sure. Small place but cozy. Expect to wait a little bit. But it's worth the wait. Cheers.

Visited George & The Dragon for the first time last night because they are known for their fish and chips. It did not disappoint! The fish was perfectly battered, light and crispy. My husband had the BBQ burger which had a ton of flavor and was cooked exactly to his request of rare. The fried sugar snap peas are a must! And to top it all off, we had excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. This place is a gem!

Great pub food, relaxed place to watch a UK soccer match, and have a nice UK inspired beer. Friendly staff.

We were in the area of "Tangletown" and were hungry. I've lived in this state for over 40 years and didn't know that Tangletown was a thing but we ended up there for dinner because of Yelp. Great choice and we were not disappointed. Food flavor was excellent and spot on. Prices were very fair in this economy of inflation. Atmosphere was on the simple side with no gimmicks to try and distract you from what you are there for. They had a special of Primee Rib but had just run out to f when I tried to order. I got the beef short rib and it was super juicy and tender. Gravy was excellent and it was served on mashed potatoes. Go here if your looking for something delicious and not to complex as far as menu goes. Allow a little time after for a stop at the gift shop up the street. We spent almost as much money in that place!!

George and the Dragon is the perfect spot for a cozy meal. The fried snap peas are one of my new favorite sides, something I have never tried before.

Excellent food!! Loved the staff and it is so cute inside. My steak sandwich was so delightful.

First experience here, meeting friends for dinner. Vibe of the place is great. We were on the early side for dinner and were seated quickly. We were a table of five but one of us was not feeling well so dropped. They set a four top awkwardly for five and then left it when we told them we'd be four. We rearranged the table and move the chair ourselves. Server was pleasant but mostly absent. We ordered one round at the beginning and sat for a long time with empty beers during our meal and rather than ask if we wanted another round, brought us the check. Food was hit and miss. The braised roast was good the vegetable curry (chickpeas and onions) was absolutely flavorless. Fries were great, fried pickles were great, the burger and fried chicken were just okay. We stayed longer and hoped to order more beer but no one ever came by. It was a weird experience.

Anything deep fried from this place is spot on. It's almost perfect. It's a light batter, that's flavorful and crispy! The deep fried pickles might have been the best I've ever had. Visually, they're stunning with the crinkle cut texture. Somehow the batter perfectly preserves the crinkle shape. Also, the deep fried sugar snap peas were unreal. Normally you see green beans, but the sweetness of the pea was spectacular. This should definitely be on more menus. The burger is ok, stick with deep fried!

Fish n chips and the beef toastie were in the menu tonite. The drinks, as always, cold, refreshing and unique. Service is attentive and quick.

This place is incredible. Wood highly recommend getting the crispy snap peas instead of the fries. The fish was perfect. Homemade tartar sauce has a green goddess vibe. Simply superb.

I'm a bit torn on this experience. Atmosphere: Small little restaurant. You need to have a reservation or you're looking at an hour and a half wait on the weekend and there is no where to sit while waiting other than to stand in the main doorway. Dim lighting. Large bar for how small of a place it is. Food: We had the fried pickles, they weren't crispy and had a weird texture. Not bad by any means but not memorable. We also had the bacon onion dip. It didn't have a lot of flavor which was a head scratcher. The bread wasn't very crispy that it was served with, so it was kind of one texture in your mouth. For entrée we had the fish and chips. Nothing memorable again. It was nice but it was served lukewarm. By the time we were closer to finishing the dish it was stone cold. Service: Really friendly server with lots of recommendations. He was very attentive throughout the meal. Had great knowledge about the beer selection too, which was the highlight of the meal. I wouldn't come back here, so many other great places in the Twin Cities.

Again! Wanted to get together with a dear friend who owns Scuba Center on 50th and Penn and thought of George & the Dragon. He was excited to meet us there. Perfect location for us both. Friday night, so we took a chance and after a reasonable wait got a seat at their beautiful bar. Great atmosphere. A busy night handled so well by the amazing staff. They are focus and so ready when you are. Again! Had my steak sandwich which is perfect for me! Also the Key Lime. We are only in Mn for the summer but you can be sure this will be our first dinner out when we get back!

This is one of my favorite places in the cities. I have come here many times over the years and am never disappointed! Tonight was no exception. Started with the fried pickles (my favorite app) which comes with a chipotle aioli. Then followed up with the fish and chips. The fish was delectable, coated with just the right amount of batter, fried to the perfect crispness. You can ask for vinegar as well! The only item that was just ok was the fries. They could be crispier. The beer selection isn't huge but always has some very nice quality beers. I have tried almost everything on the menu at this point and you really can't go wrong . Everything i have tried has been outstanding!

First time back in a few years and we tried some new (for us) items. The bacon and onion dip was savory and delicious. We then had the steak au poivre. It was spot on medium rare, tender, and the perfect entrée for a rainy day. The creme brulee capped off the evening. I'm not sure if the prices have changed at all since Covid. It seems like such a bargain for the quality, especially these days.
