It’s a shame that George croissants aren’t on the Infatuation best Seattle croissants list because they are seriously the best ones in the city! I love their pistachio croissant but even their plain croissant is superbly made, very flaky, buttery, light and dense in the right ways (somehow that’s possible). Very good coffee too. Glad they were open on Christmas morning.

Hip little coffee spot with delightfully fun croissants and a cute aesthetic. This was previously the location of a famous seafood and meat purveyor and they have made the space their own. Gets packed with students out the door on weekend mornings.

What stood out from the typical cafe was the staff being exceptionally cheerful and helpful. Super crowded and impossible to find seats though. Due to the high demand, you should visit at or before 10am if you want the full selection of pastries.

TLDR; pastries are truly amazing! Cold brew is better than the mocha. We tired the pistachio cream cold brew, mocha and a raspberry croissant. I wasn’t a fan of their mocha - it was a bit too sweet for my taste and the coffee wasn’t quite as strong. The pistachio cold brew is really amazing though - the pistachio cream on top is so delicious that I really hope they make this a permanent item on their menu. Their croissant is really the star though - it’s incredibly flakey and buttery, and the raspberry filling actually taste like real fruit, not too sweet either!

really really excellent. I highly recommend the à la George croissant. Buttery, flaky, and the right balance of prosciutto and cheese. Drinks are great too, and there’s always a warm and welcoming vibe. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. one of my favorite places around — you shine when you take pride in your product as they do

Was waiting for this place to open and it finally is! The space is on the smaller end with 3-4 tables, but overall it’s a great place to stop for coffee! Latte was delicious and service was easy and great. They have a large menu with seasonal offerings and have so many pastries to choose from. Bonus is they are made in house!! The pistachio croissant was 5/5. Happy to have this cafe added to the ave.

I wish this place was here when I went to UW! Timeless decor and an absolutely dreamy pistachio croissant. Quality was unbelievable. The chai wasn’t my cup of tea (ha) but it was objectively done well, I can see others liking it. It’s heavier on real spice and lighter on the sweetness. All the other pastries looked amazing. Will be back!

Great coffee, the cups are adorable, and I really love the wall of poster they have regarding different plays and events going on.

Finally stopped by and I've been addicted ever since. The butterscotch and PSL lattes are so delicious and the pumpkin muffin is divine!!

LEGIT pastries. SOLID coffee. WELL appointed interior. These are the goods days my friends!

I was standing at the corner of Melrose & Pine on Capitol Hill. On a utility pole there was a U District Chow Down & Street Party poster. I added it to my calendar. The day of the event my friend and I took the light rail up to the U District. It's a cozy and warm cafe. Even though the line was out the door they kept up with the steady stream of orders. The lady at the register was friendly. I ordered a beverage and a pastry. She offered to warm the pastry up. The barista did a really nice job crafting my drink. High walkability score as it's near plenty of bus options and it's near the U District Light Rail Station.

This has got to be the best chocolate croissant ive ever had in my life. Omg. I ate the whole thing. Its huge. I didnt expect much, but OMG. The little flaky sweet stuff on the top of the croissant like healed my soul and for whatever reason took away my nausea. This is magical. The coffee cake too make me want to wear cozy pjs and sit by the fire omg. OMG. Why is is this so good. If anyone knows the recipe LMKKKKK okay so overall yeah 10/10 would come back 10/10 would lick the plate if people werent watching and 10/10 for friendly informative staff. (She even asked if i wanted the corner piece or not for coffee cake, which i really appreciated!)

Pastries here are bomb! Cool and laid back yet sophisticated atmosphere. The chalk board is my favorite! I guess they do a poetry night Fridays as stated on the chalk board. Service is friendly and helpful but they did call me the wrong name when calling out my cafe order (Sarah..) lol not the biggest issue in the world to me though but might be for some or confusing. However I give 4 stars for some things being a hit or miss. My experience with the pistachio croissant filling was a miss and the chai latte I found a bit lack luster as maybe not enough chai concentrate and too heavy on the milk because it lacked flavor tbh. But with the chai latte I was extremely grateful they could do kids temp warm for me. :) I finally tried the Morning Bun and it was sooo delightful and delicious!!! I devoured it too quickly, it was sooo good. The pastries are where it's at here! I highly recommend trying a pastry if you stop by. I love the stickers they sell too, I bought the one with the woman waving, it's so cute! Definitely a nice tucked away spot in the U district to support.

Pastries-spit on. À la George Croissant and Apple Carmel Croissant. Amazing. Tried the Maple Sea Salt latte and Mexican Mocha with the BEST marshmallow I've ever had in my mouth. A big yes. Tiny, cozy place. Friendly staff.

If you like croissants and you've never been here... no you don't The raspberry croissant HIT THE SPOT for my pastry craving! The croissant itself was perfectly crispy and flaky on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The raspberry filling tasted like real raspberries and not a sugary jam, so it wasn't overly sweet! The London fog was really nice as well, and I love how friendly the staff is! They bright my croissant to my table which was so sweet! It's a nice place to study (I personally brought a math practice test), read, or have an intimate conversation with a friend or date. I'm salty I didn't discover this gem sooner!

Sometimes spontaneous visits just happen. I had parked and stopped at the nearby Bank of America on 47th between University Way & Brooklyn and needed a spot to hangout afterwards for two hours before returning to UW campus (1/30/25). Behold George Coffee & Pastries! It is a pleasant cafe and quite the transformation from long time University Seafood and Poultry that shuttered back in December 2019 due to retirement. I was able to snag a counter stool by an enormous chalkboard. All the two & three top tables were occupied at the time. I opted for an 8oz mocha ($5) and an A la George, proscuitto & havarti croissant ($7.50) while onsite. Perfect for National Croissant Day! The cafe din was a bit much despite the pleasant overhead music. For me, not very condusive for focused writing. So I opted to catch up on Yelp/IG posts instead. Nice pocket cafe located further up The Ave.

GOOD! It's a very cute hidden cafe in U District with a few sitting inside and outside. They have seasonal drinks and tons of good pastries. They open until 6 PM for anyone who wants to work at a cafe for whole, and theres outlets! I recommend checking this cafe out.

This new coffee place on the Ave has quickly become one of favorite cafes in Seattle! Their coffee is strong, and the inside of the cafe is very cute and homey. I've tried a cappuccino and an eggnog latte from here. The eggnog latte in particular is super tasty! Their espresso is smooth, strong and very well balanced; it's not acidic at all. I also got a pistachio croissant that I really enjoyed. It was flaky and buttery, but not too oily. The pastries are a little pricey, but they're pretty big so I think it's worth it. And the drinks are honestly reasonably priced, more so than I've seen at other cafes in Seattle. There are a few tables, so it's a good spot to come to if you need a place to talk or study, although it can get crowded. The staff here is also very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely keep coming back to George Coffee and Pastries!

The Worst Experience I've Ever Had at a Coffee Shop! I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at George Coffee and Pastries was unbelievably bad. I walked in simply trying to buy a coffee, only to find out they don't accept cash--fine, outdated, but whatever. What made everything truly awful was what happened next. I had an urgent need to use the restroom, and even after explaining the situation, the two staff members refused to give me the restroom code solely because they wouldn't accept my cash. I pleaded with them, clearly in distress, and they still flat-out denied me. No empathy, no basic human decency--nothing. In the end, I actually had to ask another customer to place an order for me just so I could use the restroom. Absolutely humiliating and completely unnecessary. This was a horrible experience from start to finish. I've never felt so dismissed or treated so poorly in an establishment. I will not be returning, and I genuinely hope they rethink how they treat people. No business should operate this way.

Before coming to George's Coffee I was so bored by the pastry options from u district cafes and now I have access to some of the most fun pastries available by Georges Coffee. I got the hazelnut rhubarb croissant and it was perfectly flaky and sweet. I was skeptical about this flavor before trying it but after having it, I really enjoyed. I also loved the vibe from George's Coffee. They helped me with picking out my coffee and were generally friendly. My only complaint is that the area to pick up your coffee is extremely tight and so when transporting my coffee from the pick up area to add a lid, my coffee spilt :0 it's totally my fault but I think by moving tables around the cafe would be more accessible and less packed. I loved everything else though and will be back as soon as I get my next sweet treat craving... (which will be in the very near future)

pretty small store w dark but cozy study ambiance, pastries are delicious. heard pistachio was one of the best but i tried their seasonal peach croissant and it was buttery and flaky. cashier was really nice

George's cafe climbs to the top of my list. The coffee is rich and thoughtfully crafted, made with care, love, and time. It's a hidden gem well worth the find. The ambiance and coffee speak for themselves. Even though the space is small, the atmosphere instantly feels warm and inviting. And the service is outstanding.

Great spot to grab drinks and chat with friends! Their bakery is really good, and I ordered the London Fog, which was great too. The only issue I have is that the store isn't very bright, so it might not be an ideal place for studying or working if that's what you're looking for. The servers are friendly and patient. Good overall!

Had a great London fog here to go. The staff were friendly and helpful and my drink came out quickly. I couldn't try any of the food since I'm currently dairy free but they had some tasty looking bakery in the case. There's some smaller tables where folks were working or chatting throughout.

We had been watching this space (a former fish/butcher shop) for years, once the sign above the door appeared some time after the COVID era. Who was George and why on earth was he opening at a time other businesses were shutting down? As it turned out, we wouldn't find out for at least two years. Turns out the wait was worthwhile. Beautiful space, friendly employees, great coffee drinks (my ovaltine latte was excellent) and wonderful croissants (the pistachio seems to be an early favorite). BTW George is not, as we originally thought, related to Costas next door. The owners named it after the maternal grandfather, who ran a restaurant in Monterey, CA and who is commemorated in a nice frame in the shop.

I can be a bit of a coffee snob, but they met all of my snobbery needs... Fantastic coffee of both the dark roast, and the light roast versions and fantastic frothing of the milk for my wife's latte... I needed to go there a second time for coffee and put on my earbuds and work on my computer. It was great for that as well. I highly recommend the spot. The service was great and the ambience was a good hybrid of relaxed and enough tables to get work done on my laptop..

So glad U District has a cafe that's open late! The vibes are super cozy, there's limited seating and it's pretty quiet as most people in there are studying/working. Staff is friendly as well! I love their pastries--the croissants are to die for. I tried the pistachio and the campfire (s'mores) croissants the last time I went and they were both fresh with a generous amount of filling. Their almond croissant is super delicious as well! The drinks are pretty decent, nothing too special but definitely great for a pick-me-up.

Best pastries I've had outside of France. Nice/cool buildout. Coffees good, space is limited, so not a great spot to camp and study/work. Highly recommend.

Cozy place with comfortable service just off the main drag-- it might be easy to miss. But regulars know the pastries here can't be beat. Like a true patisserie, the croissants are enormous and out-of-this-world good. Bring a friend or you won't be able to keep yourself from eating the whole thing in one sitting. And if you want to enjoy a European experience, grab a newspaper and one of the sidewalk tables!

George Coffee has some of the best staff on this side of the globe. Ambiance was impeccable. There was one barista in particular -- brunette, 5'5 on a good day -- that was very helpful and made the best da*n latte I have ever had. She is a gem. Will definitely be coming back! If I had to put one item off their menu in the spotlight, it'd have to be the pistachio cream cold brew. That one hits the spot. YUM!

Yesterday, stopped in quickly for coffee and a bite while passing by; good coffee and FANTASTIC croissants (warmed by oven!) floored us. Today, took the chance before departing the neighborhood to stop in for coffee and warm pastries. Quality was not a fluke. Chilled in a corner nook to savor for a while. Don't miss it.

Delicious pastries and very kind staff! The coffee was a bit small but overall solid, so high quality over crummy quantity is preferred any day of the week. As for the environment, it's a tiny establishment with only a small amount of seating and it can get hot in there. Sitting outside if good if the transient folks don't both you

The Ala George is one of the best ham and cheese croissants in the city and the croissant pretzels that come out in the afternoon are absolutely insane (top tier food mashup)

I had the pistachio croissant and an oat milk latte here. The pistachio croissant was really good and my oat milk latte was okay. The customer service was decent. The space is small with limited seating. I'd still recommend this place and I'd come back here to try the savory pastries and other drinks.

We liked this place so much that we're looking for apartments to buy that are a short walk away. The croissant is super flaky and delicious, coffee was on point, and the vibe of the shop makes me so happy. I could sit in this place and talk with friends for hours

Favorite cafe on the Ave, the butterscotch latte is so good, and their homemade whipped cream is to die for! And their croissants! Baristas are always kind and quick to deliver your order. A great study environment if you can get a seat!

Absolutely delicious. All the pastries are amazing. Our favorite is the ala George (I think that's what it's called), which is their ham and cheese croissant, but everything from the raspberry, pistachio and even just plain are excellent. Excited to see they've started a seasonal rotational as well. It's a frequent stop for us on our weekend errand running.
