"The world-renowned photography museum and period-accurate Georgian Revival home of Kodak's founder, George Eastman, is Rochester’s cultural anchor. A little-known highlight: the largest privately-owned pipe organ in the world is housed here. George Eastman would enjoy a live performance in his home each morning and now, on Sunday afternoons, patrons can do the same with local musicians performing movie theme songs or seasonal music. Get on the mailing list for the Dryden Theatre, a 500-seat venue that shows a mix of modern and classic films. How often do you get a chance to watch Deliverance or Flash Gordon on the big screen? Experiences not soon forgotten." - Truth Collective

We had our wedding ceremony at the George Eastman Museum on 5/25/25, and it was truly a dream come true! From the very first day I met our coordinator, Allen Buell, I knew we were in great hands. Allen is not only prompt, thorough, and incredibly communicative, but he’s also personable and has a wonderful sense of humor—qualities that made the entire (sometimes stressful!) wedding planning process so much easier and more enjoyable. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, especially in May when the purple wisteria is in full bloom and the gardens are pristine and beautifully manicured. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the breathtaking scenery and the elegant atmosphere. I would highly recommend the George Eastman Museum for not only weddings but any special event. The combination of a gorgeous setting and exceptional staff made our day unforgettable!

Historically, one of the most beautiful homes I've ever visited so interesting to see how someone this wealthy lived nearly 100 years ago. As you walk through the home, you can only imagine the immense wealth. The gardens are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen and we arrived right in the height of the blooming season for the lilacs in the wisteria.

We took a side trip from Syracuse on the way to the Finger Lakes stopping in Rochester to visit the museum & it was well worth it. Certainly Mr. Eastman was way ahead of his time & so very generous. The self guided audio tour was perfect & be sure to take the 12::30 garden tour. Hopefully Maureen will be your guide! Such a terrific spirit and so knowledgeable!

A very unique and incredible museum in Rochester, New York one portion of the museum is the home of George Eastman 10 acres, which shows so much character and it’s been preserved so well then there’s a portion of the grounds which has beautiful florals. I can’t wait to come back in the summertime, and then the second part of museum has Photography and film, history and cameras, which are very unique to see and there’s even a restaurant. It’s the perfect thing to do a cold or rainy day indoors or in the summer. I can’t wait to tour the gardens. We went early on a Saturday morning, did not have any wait to buy tickets

One of my best friends in graduate school was a film major at the University of Rochester and used to tell me about the amazing collections and photo archives in the permanent collection at this museum. So, when I went to Rochester it was my first stop. The house itself is beautiful with amazing history—I particularly enjoyed the life story of Eastman’s mother. The photo exhibitions were sadly underwhelming—and to be honest that was what I was hoping to see more of!! They had examples of some of the greatest hits of American photography —-a picture from the Muybridge zoopraxiscope, some Paul Strand, Diane Arbus, etc along with some interesting ones from local artists. However , this made it all the more disappointing as I wanted more and more cohesion in the exhibition. I’m definitely not trying to backseat curate, but maybe having rotating exhibits from individual artists, focusing on periods (they seem to have tons of New Deal photography), or individual exhibits with a more clearly articulated theme would be awesome. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the staff are INCREDIBLY friendly and helpful.

Very impressive historical home. I have visited quite a few and I can say this one was very unique! The photo galleries were also very nice, and a very unique eatery on site.

We didn’t have a chance to go inside but we were lucky to catch a movie in the theatre here! Philadelphia Story was shot on 35mm film and showed here using original projector!!! One of a kind experience! Also I learned about Coloramas. Just amazing!

Nice, gorgeous local museum explaining the history of George Eastman and his creation of the Kodak company and his ideas that made film and photography as popular as they are today. His home is gorgeous and you can see the minute detail he made sure was put into everything, from the carvings, to plaster ceilings and the hand cut and placed tiles in his mother's bathroom. Incredible and a delight to walk around and explore. They do guided tours at 1030a and 2p which I highly recommend doing. Our guide was knowledgeable, personable, and made sure everyone could hear and see what she was talking about. Otherwise if you don't want to do the tour you can explore at your own pace and each room has a book explaining all the details that you can read. Also make sure you check out the gardens which are splendid. Very peaceful and elegant; a wonderful place to sit, rest your feet, listen to the birds, and watch the squirrels and bunnies run about.
