"Boasting an ideal location in the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré, this chic brasserie has a seaside-inspired interior decor. Featuring alongside the unfussy dishes made with precisely prepared regional produce (freshly caught fish, Challans poultry) are some great French classics (pan-fried foie gras, baked snails). The pleasant terrace lounge and cocktail bar are popular. Attentive service." - Michelin Inspector

I don't know where you grew up, but I feel like every old area there is that classic diner. It's becoming more and more rare. The diner nostalgia with the twist of City Heights is a complete experience. The homemade hot sauce on the table, sitting in a booth, and drinking a third cup of coffee with the kind waitress ready to top it off at the table. This no frills diner is a keeper.

1. You will regret not getting the buldak chicken 2. Service is so quick and helpful and let my partner and I make a bunch of subs/modifications to the meal (we are reasonable people ) 3. The portions are big and filling but not impossible to finish and the flavor is impeccable. It’s a pretty lowkey spot and I think that makes it even better.

Google
The good: the place serves home cooked mom and pops type food. It was not greasy and it was extremely affordable. I dined here and I'm surprised they are not more busy. The portions are perfect for the price. The bad: the place could use a fave life and orange juice seemed a little over priced. The ugly: the waitress was so good but we were not able to leave her a tip on the card. I felt like we cheated her because we had no cash on us. If I were her I would get the venmo app.

Google
George's is a casual, local, hole in the wall restaurant. If you're looking for a no-nonsense, home cooked style breakfast, look no further; you'll find it at George's. The bacon is crisp, the homestyle potatoes are cooked in the bacon fat, and the coffee is fresh. What more do you need? Maybe some pancakes? They got that, too! George's hit the spot for today's craving of an old school breakfast! We'll be back, soon!

Google
Very special dining experience. Super friendly service, the food is just awesome. Fresh and tastes so good. The chicken teriyaki, grilled ham and cheese sandwhiches, shrimp omelets are fantastic.

My mom and I have been going to this place for years, the food is always good and the service as well!

Google
It was the best breakfast I've ever had! I enjoyed my meal, and I liked how the owner interacted with every customer. You guys should come to this place when you're in town or around San Diego! #Thankyou #kamsahabnida #Salamat

Google
Don’t miss out on the Buldak chicken!! Get it with some house potatoes and you’ll have the tastiest saucy potatoes you never knew you needed before. But really, the food is amazing. Great prices, portions, service, etc…George is so welcoming and kind, too. I’ve only been here twice with my partner and he excitedly welcomed us back with a huge smile.

Yelp
I am a super fan of their Budak chicken plate. Spicy but not too much heat that you can't taste flavor. The budak chicken comes with white rice and home made cole slaw which are a great compliment. Will keep going back. My wife and kids had other staples and they said the food was good quality. We also liked the big portions and took home leftovers for a second meal. The Budak chicken reheats nicely in the air fryer and maybe tastes even better the second day.

Yelp
Like Dive Bars, good Neighborhood Cafes are a treasure when found. We were in the area visiting a friend who is in an assisted living situation, and he rarely gets out. For him going to the CVS and getting breakfast is an adventure, so we wanted to make it a good one. I found George's on yelp by looking around where we were and I am so happy that we found it. It's on a side street, tucked into a row of shops and, once you enter, you are treated like old friends. The service was wonderful, and helped to get two mobility impaired seniors to a comfortable place easily. The menu is great, with some unexpected pleasures. Our breakfasts were large portions served quickly, and hot, and smelled delicious. The taste was the taste of home. While I didn't get the beverage I ordered the food was so good that I forgot until I got to the till and the nice lady took the absent item off. Good job, George!

Yelp
We came here solely based on the reviews. I was hoping for a decent experience because the reviews were pretty good. But unfortunately that wasn't the case. Service took longer than a typical small restaurant should. The pancakes we ordered were extremely tough to cut through and the burrito we ordered for a $13 was extremely small! Since Perry's in Old Town closed we have been looking for a breakfast restaurant to replace them which has been very hard to do because Perry's was really good. I would like to say good luck to George's Cafe and hopefully they can tighten up the loose ends and progress!

Yelp
I adore George's Cafe. This modest cafe is the staple go-to of my office for a reason. The owner and staff are so sweet and the food is consistently a delicious great value. Bulgogi plate and coffee: $20! I work with to elders and the owner and staff are always so kind to them. It's so important and just adds to the love.

Yelp
Good sized portions, I recommend the combos, they are a great value. Ordering sides is more expensive, but it won't break the bank either. Food was served hot and fresh... I really liked the pancakes, they rival any restaurant's, very hearty! The server Araceli (sp?) was very helpful and friendly. She not only kept our coffee mugs full, she also was quick to notice I had dropped my butter knife on the floor and brought me another one without being asked to do so. George the owner was also very friendly and thanked us for visiting. Overall, the place was very clean and a comfortable dining environment. Paying with cash and finding parking were not the end of the world, either. If you want breakfast, I'd recommend this place if you're near City Heights.

Yelp
Very old school and small. Popular place! Their pancakes are SO GOOD!!! Also like their NY steak... nicely seasoned. Omelettes are solid as well. Nice service and good prices. What more can one ask for.

Yelp
This place is decent. Been there enough to see what they're about. Nice staff. The food is a bit better than Denny's. Not sure about the tipping system they have going-on...I just had my bank card. The initial bill was definitely $5 lower than what my credit card was charged...they don't have the typical type of restaurant receipt where you can write-in your tip...so BE aware of your bill & read what it says on-top of the front of where they put your bill in the black thing...where it has a statement about the "tip"...

Yelp
Great food and service they are always very friendly portions are a good size been coming here for years you gotta try

Yelp
Really thought this would be great based on the reviews. The entire place needs a serious deep cleaning. And who serves margarine anymore and calls it butter?

Yelp
My kind of cafe. I love supporting local small businesses. Went here with my wife for breakfast after dropping kids off to school. We liked it a lot. Good was delicious and staff were nice!

Yelp
This place have breakfast for the homeless And the people who work there are rude disrespectful and should not be dealing with the public now I went there and asked the lady at the counter about the free breakfast for the homeless she looked at me and said go out side u wait outside in front of all the customers I said look u don't have to be rude so I went outside 5 minutes she came outside yelling u need to leave I'm not giving u anything and went back inside then my friend that I was meeting there came and if u seen the free breakfast it was terrible my thing is why would u treat people like that i mean belittle people like that making them stand outside that's low down don't take the time to offer to free food just to make ur restaurant look good in ur community but turn around and treat the homeless like trash making them stand outside for a breakfast not even fit for a dog this was just the first the second time we went we were standing outside and waiting and one of the guys who worked there and kept coming out moving his car and saying to my friend are u sill here and never brought any food out to us thay never did anything

Yelp
I walked in and saw only three parties of people eating in the restaurant. It seemed like a cozy space. I was greeted right away by the waitress. She asked if I wanted a table, but I said that I'd order to go. Made my choice to order the breakfast burrito based on other reviews. There were several affordable options on the menu, but you can't walk and eat pancakes at the same time. I needed portability. Anyway, I put my order in and it took less than 10 minutes to receive my food. The man behind the counter (I'm guessing was the owner) took my payment and was friendly. Now, on to the burrito. It was delicious! Perfectly cooked eggs and bacon. It was a little greasy, but it was worth it. The hash browns added a nice texture to the burrito. Also, the hot sauce they provided with the burrito was so good! Not too spicy, but full of flavor! I would love to just buy a bottle of that hot sauce!

Yelp
Always a friendly place. I had the spicy sausage breakfast. It was very good! If you want a better breakfast than a chain restaurant, then go here

Yelp
I am so in love with this place! I come here almost 2 days a week during my lunch break from my work. People who work here are so dedicated to their work and very friendly and nice! Btw, their bacon cheese burger is a bomb! The price is reasonable! Who loves breakfast anytime of the day like me, please try this place

Yelp
Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. I was feeling a little blue because a salon fried my hair yesterday and today my dog is at the vet all day. You made me feel so welcome and the food was delicious. Thank you for the perfect recommendation! The vibe was out of this world. I loved that you knew almost every customer who walked in and what they'd be ordering. You've truly created a very homey diner and it's what all diners should be. Thank you again!

Yelp
Great food, friendly service and a truly international clientele make this gem one of my favorite stops in City Heights.

Yelp
I have been driving by George's for years and finally stopped in for breakfast. Yes parking is a challenge and it is located in a sketchy area but what a pleasant surprise. The breakfast sausage and eggs was delicious with twin Pattie's, has brown potatoes and toast at $10 is a bargain. Service is friendly and the menu includes some rice dishes as well as hamburgers. Good food at reasonable prices.
google avatar

Raja C.

Yelp
Great views. Nice vege food options and vegan too. Good service. Parking valet for $20 for 3hrs is so cheap.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Considering the price of everything at this place, I have nothing but high praise. Love a classic breakfast in the morning, and no one beats their prices. First time trying, I got the food to go and even that didn't disappoint. Looking forward to coming back and dining in.
google avatar

Yelp
Is a small hole in the wall kind of place Parking may be a little difficult due to the few one way streets Expect on spending from 6-10 bucks a person which is dirt cheap for most breakfast I love it food is great
google avatar

Leona L.

Yelp
I originally was driving to Denny's because I wanted some French toast. I've seen this place for years now and read a few yelp reviews and thought I'd give it a go. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH :( which sucks bc I had to go to the bank and come back. Pros: food was great, fast service, great customer service Con: the decor & parking
google avatar

Ayded M.

Yelp
Me and my family love this place. We live far away from it but we go there every time we can. They have kids meals too. Very good service and prices are affordable.

Lisa F.

Yelp
We ate here while vacationing in San Diego. They have good local home cooked food. Breakfast was very good! The service was excellent! Our daughter enjoyed the Macaron dessert.

Yelp
Best hole in the wall diner. *** Closed on Sundays*** It's not very big inside and its looks sketchy outside, but the staff is friendly and the food is soooooo good. Most tables are set for 4-6 people and it can get crowed at times. I would deff not recommend strollers (there really is no space for them) but they have high chairs.

Lawrence C.

Yelp
This small spot was honestly great. The staff was really friendly and were always ready to serve you. As I was observing the owner, he greeting the locals and regulars by name.

Luis O.

Yelp
The pancakes are so delicious after I put all the ingredients I desired onto the pancake it melted in my mouth and the sides that went with it paired up very nicely. The only thing I had an issue with is the pricing but then again it was well worth the meal.
google avatar

Conor R.

Yelp
Cheap, fast, delicious hole-in-the-wall eats. No idea why Yelp thinks this place is closed. Been here monthly for the past year!
google avatar

Luis R.

Yelp
I'd seen this place many times passing but was always kinda put off by the looks of it but today I finally got around to trying it. I was very pleasantly surprised. It's one of those little hole in the wall dinners that don't look like much but make up for it with great food and for a decent price. I got a Bacon Avocado Breakfast Burrito for $4 bucks! Can't beat that at most taco shops. This place was a find, this visit will be the 1st of many.
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry I had already taken a few bites and douced up my meal before realizing how amazing this place is and deciding to write a review. First bite impression 10/10!!!! Delicious and can't beat the price anywhere in the area!!! Must try!!!

Nhilang1234 ..

Yelp
The place has a homely feel to it. Food was excellent and coffee comes with free refills!
google avatar

Yuki O.

Yelp
They're open for to go orders (by phone or in person). I ordered today and it was made quickly, delicious and they were nice as always. If you want some breakfast to distract you, don't hesitate!

Sabrina R.

Yelp
Food was descent, waitress had terrible servicing was very argumentative. The hostess even mentioned us to cut our time short there because on another party coming and it wasn't busy with other tables available there. Had to repeatedly ask for a top for our drinks and after 10min I got up to get it myself then another waitress there said she would get it for me and never came back. Food wasn't that great, service was terrible. Wouldn't go there again with other better quality restaurants and service.
google avatar

Yelp
George's Cafe is our new diner go to! The food is great, well priced, and the staff is always super nice.

Francisco P.

Yelp
Been coming here since the 90's it's the best breakfast always hot and fresh. Miss the Chinese food they used to have.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
Edible & clean, but so very bland. A fine choice for Gramma, or little Timmy who hates every flavor except butter. Smoooooooth jazz played overhead. Soooooooo appropriate. But it fills the tummy for $5. Bring your own salsa. 'Cuz dang if the salsa ain't bland too.
google avatar

Bianca R.

Yelp
Best service! Amazing French toast. Little mom and pops and never disappoints. Lunch is great too.
google avatar

Maryan O.

Yelp
My friend and I come here pretty often since we discovered it and just enjoy it so much. The food is great, the vibe feels nice, and the staff are so wonderful. They treat us exceptionally each time! If I carried cash with me more regularly, I'd probably be here a few times each week. It is that great. This is a spot that everyone needs to check out and enjoy!
google avatar

Jake G.

Yelp
Bomb local dinner! Veggi omelette was delicious with lots of fresh veggies. Definitely coming back again! Great service too!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place ! I'm always greeted with an awesome attitude and friendly costumer service ! And the food is awesome ! Support local businesses!:)
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place. Great service and food was decent. Best part about it was that the owner was so nice and so sweet. I was sick and he came with tylenol and some cough drops for me. It's a lil whole in the wall joint where you feel like home right when you come in.

David D.

Yelp
Food was ok. My friend ordered chicken fried steak and got chicken fingers snd he didn't want to make a fuss so I get that. Never cam to table and asked us how meals were and check out guy was a little rude. Honestly I have no idea how they have a 4.5 star rating which was the reason we went there. Most people were locals which is cool but staff totally catered to them and even gave them free stuff while the rest of us received average service.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Small little restaurant with a green exterior and a somewhat dated interior. Nothing fancy here. It's a typical little Mom and Pop kind of 'dive'. It's basically a breakfast and lunch place. Prices are decent but they only accept cash. No credit or debit cards are accepted as of October 2016. I ordered a breakfast meal at lunch time. Corned beef hash and eggs with toast and hash browns. Food was okay.
google avatar

Elena F.

Yelp
This was a cute little spot to eat, they have good prices for food and a good variety of things to drink. Would definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Adrian G.

Yelp
Great prices, friendly service, Good food. A little trouble parking, small indoor area
google avatar

Marc T.

Yelp
Support the mom & pops spots!!! Got a brunch meal for a family of 5 (including 2 growing boys) for $38!! That's less you'd spend at McDonald's. The equivalent menu of Denny's but not garbage food like Denny's lol. Pretty small diner. We got take out. Average size portions. Note: closes at 1pm.
google avatar

Susana L.

Yelp
been coming here for a solid 5 years straight. it's our go-to breakfast place! everything here is delicious. pancakes, are fluffy and always delicious, they have a breakfast burrito that also is pretty amazing. it's never uncomfortable full, it's always perfectly satisfying. the waitress and owner are pleasant, always warm welcoming.
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
This is truly a hidden gem if you like diners. The menu is simple and the staff is very friendly and kind. We ordered a sampling of a few things, all were excellent. The twin combo consisted of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 sausage for $4.99. You can't beat that! It was tasty. The breakfast burrito was $4.25 and I substituted sausage instead of bacon. It also had hash browns, cheese, and avocado. They have homemade hot sauce with was GREAT and went very well with the breakfast burrito. Great value and delicious. The hash browns and corned beef have were a diner lovers delight. Both very tasty and cooked just right. The pork chops (you get 2) were $10 and came with fried potatoes/peppers/carrots. They were good as well. You could share this meal if both were light eaters. We will definitely be back to this gem of a diner, be ready to wait in line if you get there after 11! It's worth it.
google avatar

Kiana Z.

Yelp
Quality was eh, wouldn't come back here again. Too oily and my eggs come out so hard and over cooked when asked for over easy
google avatar

Don K.

Yelp
I don't vary my favorites at restaurants too much. Once I love something, I stick with it, seeking perfection, in this case just the right combination of taste and price (probably weighing more toward price). When you can get a meal for an amazing price AND it's good food, the rare confluence of culinary and economic excellence gives me in a state of pure bliss. I work this way with my standard 2 eggs, hash browns/home fries and toast/french toast weekend breakfast (often post-partying on the previous night). George's is my new #1 spot for this particular combo. $3.99 gets you home fries with bell peppers and onions(!), four slices of sourdough toast with generous butter and the two eggs. And it was a huge portion of home fries. My partner ordered the veggie omelette (with broccoli and avocado!) for $5.99 with the home fries and toast and enjoyed it. I also noticed a breakfast burrito with avocado for $2.99 and they had an eclectic mix of Korean BBQ, Chinese food, Mexican food and American greasy-spoon style stuff. I have to admit, I've lived in City Heights for 2 1/2 years and never gave George's a chance due to the dark exterior that prevents you from being able to see inside the restaurant from a car. Once inside though, it was bright and clean, the waitress was nice, and they were pumping out some smooth soft jazz. I like the breakfast combo at Margarita's in OB (includes tortilla chips and salsa!) and the one at the Antique Row Cafe in Normal Heights was a-ight but George's definitely has them beat on portion sizes and slightly on price. It's our new morning-after breakfast spot, especially since they started serving breakfast on Sundays now.
