"George’s Candies is known for its freshly baked macaroons, which are tempting coconut drop cookies, and has used the same recipe since 1954. Choose the classic macaroons to bring home to friends and family members as a gift when you return from the Shore or try the milk chocolate or dark chocolate options for an even sweeter result." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

I was very disappointed to see the sale of hermit crabs at George’s. The people were very nice and I bought a shot glass before seeing the hermit crabs on the other side. Hermit crabs are hard to care for and shouldn’t be sold carelessly and with profit in mind. The paint on their shells leech chemicals that poison them and shorten their lifespans.

Best treats of the boardwalk are right here! Check out their freshly-made toasted coconut macaroons covered in chocolate. They are outstanding. And then for dessert, try their chocolate-covered pretzels. Then, for second dessert, skip that frozen custard and grab that homemade, hand-dipped ice cream!

Google
I have loved Georges perfection for 40 years. Chocolate dipped Macaroons. Best fudge. Greatest ice creams. Toys for the kids and breakfast. What more could anybody want along with ocean city?

Chris Quinn

Google
For me this is the best ice cream place on the Boardwalk. It also sells candy, fudge, kids toys, souvenirs and breakfast/lunch. Lots of hand made, original ice cream flavors outside the typical options. The price is average for the boardwalk. So much better than Kohrs Brothers. The line can extend half way across the boardwalk at night on a crowded night.

Google
I cannot speak for the entire store, but this is the place to go for macaroons (not macarons). They have the best milk chocolate and dark chocolate dipped macaroons in Ocean City New Jersey. We make sure we have them every time we visit the shore!!

Vincent Mancuso Jr.

Google
This place is really cool. All kinds of freshly made candy and ice cream. Really big assortment. The ice cream was very good. The store has all kinds of stuff for kids, such as toys and beach stuff. Good place to check out.

Google
So EVERYONE knows about George’s Macaroons, breakfasts and Ice cream. But I just had THE MOST DELICIOUS HOMEMADE FUDGE delivered, and it was beyond wonderful!!!! I received a gift card for my birthday and I ordered the fudge I knew would be delicious from when I used to order it when I was right there in O.C., New Jersey, but it was even better than I remember!!! SOOOOO FRESH!!! Unfortunately, I’m not able to go to travel to Ocean City, New Jersey right now ! AND George’s Candies delivered the fudge immediately. AND I found out they will DELIVER ALL YEAR LONG & I am out of State!!! Do not miss out on this decadent homemade fudge that is BEYOND LUSCIOUS!!!!! Yummmmmmm!!!!

Had delicious hash browns and sunny side up egg with toast. Slight wait but was sprinkling so nice to be inside.

Yelp
Had breakfast here before exploring the boardwalk. From the outside, busy and good amount of people eating. We were seated. The hostess was friendly and accommodating, Ordering took a long time. Understandable since it was their busy time and a summer weekend. Food was mediocre. Nothing about it is memorable or spectacular about it. Service was okay. Slow when busy so have a lot of patience.

Yelp
The ice cream melted way too fast.the servers were nicer than most. And it smelled in the store

Vincent C.

Yelp
Son wanted ice cream so decided to give it another try. Had been many years. Same deal. As I waited on the somewhat long line (but nothing quite like the very long, slightly disorganized snaking line I remember from more than a decade ago), I watched carefully how big a scoop people got on their cones. Two vanilla families preceded me, one with teens, one wth a baby in a stroller. Ordered mine and waited. Yet again, ice cream barely topped the bottom edge of the slanted cone rim, I would say about 1 scoop less than others before me had received for the same. If you are prone to being discriminated against based on your appearance (and those of you know who you are), avoid this place. Minimally staffed, just 2 college age millenial girls working, one the register, the other scooping (noone wants to work these days). Same sh-t attitude. Sitting out, the usual plastic tip container listing the various colleges I presume the workers attend (wouldn't mind if not for the shoddy service). Not the usual level of good looks this place has attracted in the past (again you know what I mean if you've been here many times before, presumably due to the current non competitive labor market). Never again. Better alternative is the relatively new Famous Cookie Creamery (you choose 2 cookies and the ice cream to make an ice cream sandwich, all absolutely delicious). If you think the reviewer here is oversensitive or simply don't care, you can just blithely order and enjoy your ice cream here and ignore the recommendation. Management has never really fixed the culture here. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
We read the good reviews for here and decided we'd have dinner her one night. I have to say I honestly don't understand the good reviews. The waitress didn't seem to care about doing her job; she said there were no specials when the host in front was eating what he said was tonight's special. While waiting for our food we saw a a few dozen (new disposable) cups fall on the dirty, heavily trafficked floor. After they rolled around for a few minutes an employee came by, gathered them up and put them on the stack with the rest of the new ones. My wife ordered a salmon dish and I got the fish tacos. Both were made from frozen sockeye that were bland and not seasoned enough to cover the not-good fishy taste. Her dish had a pile of plain white rice and my tacos had lettuce and a bland aioli. The good news is we did t get sick, so there's that. A lot of their shop is a gift store and they should stick with that.

Yelp
George's is yet another longtime tradition on the Ocean City boardwalk....dating from the early 1950s. They are best known for their awesome macaroons which are shipped all over the USA. These almond and coconut cookies are not cheap but are def tasty. George's is also known for its fudge and salt water taffy. You can watch the salt water taffy being created and pulled in the front window. If you are strolling the boardwalk, check it out.

Stephen Z.

Yelp
Worst breakfast I ever had. Pancakes were hard and dry. None of the ingredients were fresh, you could tell the potatoes and avocado were old.

Kathleen D.

Yelp
I can't speak to the "Candies" part of George's name, but they should probably tack on "Ice Cream" to this listing too! There's a special walk-up window for ice cream orders right on the boardwalk. We were visiting on a warm Sunday afternoon in June and the wait wasn't too long. My cousin had raved about their ice cream, so I knew I had to give it a shot even though I had already had a cone at Kohr Bros. YOLO, right? You can request samples of any and all flavors (and there are many!), so I asked to try the blueberry. While it was tasty, it was WAY too sweet for me, so I asked for a scoop of the chocolate chip cookie dough instead. One scoop was seriously massive and plenty for most people. I wouldn't recommend ordering two scoops unless it's 100 degrees outside and you want to pour some over your head! The quality was evident in each spoonful. I'd have to say my cousin was right about this spot. It's delicious!

Katie N.

Yelp
The breakfast is affordable with kids options. Nothing impressive, but the portions are good. I don't think I'd go back. However, the ice cream is 5 stars- amazing!!! So delicious!

Yelp
I was walking by with my fiance, taking a walk on the boardwalk, when my fiance pointed out some stuffed animals on the outside. I saw an adorable giraffe stuffed animal with eyelashes and a bow (something I've never seen before) and (as I LOVE giraffes) I absolutely HAD to buy it. I go inside and stand in line at what appears to be the register. As soon as the couple in front of me leave with their purchase, the older cashier says to me "Sorry, I'm closed." I go "...Okay, where can I go to purchase this?" She points over to the candy/fudge counter. That is fine. It just kind of annoyed me how no one else was in line behind me, and I only wanted to purchase ONE item, yet she turned me away, and didn't tell me right away where I can purchase the item instead. I go to the fudge counter and the young girl was very nice, told me the giraffe was cute, made conversation with me about the weather and how it is Father's Day, complimented me on my nails. She was very very sweet! I liked the items they have in this store, as well as the fact it looks like you can buy coffee? I will definitely come back to try it out again!

Rachael A.

Yelp
George's Candies have the best coconut macaroons on the boardwalk. They travel well so they would be a great gift to bring to a loved one back home. The cookies are chewy and not dry at all. I will definitely be back soon to get some more & to try more of their handmade chocolates.

Gerald H.

Yelp
Good service and friendly staff but for god sake the amount of ice cream you get is criminal. If I upgrade my cone to a $2.00 charge, hook me up with a damn scoop. I got the seagull droppings and it didn't have much to it. Maybe they are just getting started, but you have to give people a reason to talk and come back. Would try it again.

Heather S.

Yelp
Our first time trying George's for breakfast and it was delicious! The portions were generous for the price and being right on the boardwalk. The servers and service was great! Would definitely make this a regular stop in OCNJ

William M.

Yelp
Thieves. Everything in their store rings up 50 cents to a dollar more per pound than the prices in the display case. A request to be charged the ACTUAL price on display is met with resistance or pleas of ignorance. In the picture for example, the 1/2 Almond Butter Crunch is marked 14.99 / lb on the shelf, but they insisted on charging 15.50 / lb. They do this with all of the items in their case. Does this make a big difference in the grand scheme of things? Of course not. But it's conscientious, deliberate, and continuous. They didn't much care when I alerted them (nor did the change the marked prices, they're still there), so I doubt they'll care much about this review. Just check your receipt VERY carefully and make sure you're only charged what the price is, not charged an extra margin for greed.

Justin S.

Yelp
I come to Ocean City, New Jersey a couple time a year and every time I go I have to get George's ice cream! I always get chocolate fudge madness. The prices are pretty good for being a boardwalk vendor and the serving sizes are decent. Great place to go if you like hand dipped ice cream.

Erica M.

Yelp
With ice cream shops being every third shop on the board walk, it's hard to figure out where to stop to cure a craving. I took a peek at George's to see if any flavors stood out - I had to try the blueberry cheesecake ice cream and absolutely loved it! So much flavor in a little cup. I also recommend buying some candies and chocolates for gifts or midnight snacks. The breakfast is also a great option and the only place I'll go for a bite to eat in the morning. I've tried the omelettes and the French toast, both better than the diners I've tried in Ocean City.

Tasha L.

Yelp
Coming from NYC this is the best burger I tried in long time. I would recommend this to anyone . A MUST TRY !!

Mike I.

Yelp
Lots of great reviews for breakfast but I was very underwhelmed. The likes -super friendly staff. I don't know if they are all family but it seems that way and I like that -location. Right on the boardwalk with street parking within blocks -food for the most part was average. Pancakes were very tasty. Pricing is high compared to that of a diner but that is to be expected. This is a seasonal business after all The dislikes -food. Home fries are prefrozen squares. Very disappointing. Pricing on juice is very very high. For a family of 4 you'll rack up a 12.00 bill before even ordering your food. Eggs lacked flavor. I really don't understand any review over 3 stars for this place. Shoved in the corner of a tourist trap store, (you know the kind with all those knick knacks with your child's name on it and plush) this place is nothing special. I doubt we will return.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
George's are my favorite macaroons on the boardwalk. The place has changed a lot since I was young, as they now sell a lot of souvenirs and have a restaurant. It's lost a little of its charm, and I can't speak to the quality of the restaurant, but the macaroons will always be my favorite.

Robin T.

Yelp
Seriously the best omelette I've ever tasted. Very quaint and clever place inside a candy/ice cream/souvenir shop. Great service. Definitely will be a favorite go to in future trips!

Derek D.

Yelp
They have no idea how to make a milkshake. It was the worst milkshake I have ever tasted. The ice cream was very disappointing as well. The only reason they get one star is because my daughter said she liked her mint chocolate chip ice cream. I did not taste it. Go anywhere else if you are interested in ice cream

Jaime C.

Yelp
The portions were good but the ice cream had absolutely no flavor and my husband said his had large ice crystals. My husband ordered peach and I got raspberry - very disappointed. Ice cream at The Hobby Horse was sooo much better.

Elianna P.

Yelp
My brother got a splinter on the boardwalk so we needed a first aide kit and George's had it! They also had fudge, candies, and usb car chargers! Everything we needed nd they were training a six year old to be the next cashier. So cute!

John S.

Yelp
Stopped here for ice cream last night on the boardwalk. We traditionally have gone with Kohrs or Ben & Jerry's on the boardwalk, but decided to give George's a shot. Went with a small cup of butterscotch. The ice cream was literally gummy with several small flecks of white gum which would materialize in my mouth after a spoonful. It also had zero discernible butterscotch flavor. My take is butterscotch is not a high-turn flavor for George's and thus what I received was manufactured long, long ago. Shockingly poor quality control/inventory management...esp. at $5/scoop. Will not return.

S A.

Yelp
My review is solely on the Macaroons. Amazing!! I love macaroons and travel. These are the best I have ever had. I also ship these to a friend and she looks forward to them every year. Consistently good since I was a kid. A summer must stop (more than once ;-)) I have heard the restaurant and ice cream are good too. Just have not made it there for anything than my must have macaroons.

Christiane H.

Yelp
Great place for ice cream! My cookie dough didn't have much dough, but it was super soft!

Tony G.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast spot on the island. They never disappoint. We even had the same waiter as last year. Food and service are always great. We will meet again next year!

Robert B.

Yelp
It continues to be a go to place for my family. The ice cream is delicious. A single scoop remains a pretty good sized cone to have.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Have come here for years. Today was terrible especially the home fries. Definitely re heated. They claimed just made. I'm 53 and know what fresh food is. This was not. The offered 10 percent off. We ate 1/2 the food. Fried eggs cooked until completely dry. They would rather argue then provide actual customer service. We will never go back. Poorly run with now awful food. Save your time and money. Eat someplace that cares about their customers.

Chris M.

Yelp
Great ice cream here. I try to come back every year. They have a wall full of flavors that I agonize over while waiting in line. 1/3 of the way through the line I am positive that I am getting the peach ice cream. 2/3 of the way though, definitely banana. But, in the end, I ALWAYS get the same flavor: George's Macaroon. (It's sort of like when you go to a Chinese restaurant and stare at the menu for 20 min, even though you know you will be ordering the General Tso's chicken.) Oh, man, it is so good. It's coconut ice cream with chunks of macaroon in it. Unbelievable. Ice cream here is reasonably priced, especially compared to Kohr Brothers. The line can be kind of long, but it moves fast and is totally worth the wait. Workers are very nice too. I highly recommend trying George's the next time you are in OC.

Jason H.

Yelp
The candy may be good - but the service and the system are some of the worst I have ever seen. First, the place is (deliberately) organized like a maze so there is only one way out. If you want to buy something other than candy (they have a huge store as well) you have to wait in the 40 minute candy line because there is no other place to pay. Speaking of the 40 minute candy line...you actually DON'T have to wait in that line to buy candy because you can come right in the exit and they help you next. Over and over they help people who walk right in despite there being a line of people who have been waiting and waiting for help. Tonight - at 9PM on a Friday - there were only 3 people waiting on the entire line. Despite person after person sharing their frustration of them continuing to help people who did not wait they just kept on doing it. Like I said - they may have good candy - but so do so many other places on the boardwalk that provide very good service as well. My first time here after 3 decades of visiting Ocean City and it will absolutely be my last!!!

Joe D.

Yelp
Long time sweet shop on the boards, great candy, ice cream, but famous for the giant coconut macaroons. After walking the boardwalk and burning calories in the ocean. Stop in for one of the best macaroons I've ever tasted. Soft and chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside. It's a great combination of textures with a great burst of coconut flavor. Try them dunked in chocolate, or with just a cherry on top.

Diana B.

Yelp
We ordered breakfast takeout due to COVID and got back to our condo. Unfortunately part of the order was incorrect. We called and they offered to make us a new one or we could come get it another morning. No biggie, the food was very good and we ate it. The next morning we called to get our correction and something else for the correct portion. They replaced the incorrect meal from what we previously ordered and also comped the new portion of our meal. Again the food was good and a generous portion. Great little place for a good breakfast. Priced reasonably. Scrambled eggs nice and fluffy.

Toby D.

Yelp
Went there for ice cream twice on our recent vacation with friends. Employees were very nice getting us multiple samples of the selection of flavors and got all our orders right. I got the flavor of the day - cinnamon, and on next trip got the coconut almond joy flavor, interesting selection of specials and candy flavored ice creams. Would definitely go back, all delicious!

Saba Q.

Yelp
My favorite ice scream spot on the OC boardwalk. Try my two favorites - 'motor oil' - coffee ice cream with fudge swirl, or seagull droppings' - vanilla ice cream with reeses cups.

Christopher C.

Yelp
I have never bought an item of overpriced food here and I never will. What I have bought is some of their stuffed plush that my kids love more than anything. That said, the prices for the pink whales, pink dolphins and other furry friends are somewhere off in loonyville. Cute? Sure Value? Hell no Also this place definitely loses a star for the claustrophobic atmosphere inside the store when it gets busy. If you want to get from the front of the store where the plush is then over to where the registers are you practically need Patrick Swayze circa the "Roadhouse" years kicking asses and throwing elbows to help clear a path.

Jesse R.

Yelp
Fantastic home-made ice cream in a ton of awesome flavors. One of my favorites is Nirvana - coffee ice cream with chocolate swirl and heath bar crunch. The store inside carries a bunch of very good candy, and my parents are big fans of their macaroons. Probably the best ice cream on the boardwalk, unless you're partial to soft-serve Kohr Bros.

Bobi A.

Yelp
This is the place to eat if you're in OC, NJ. I've tried their breakfast and loved it but I like this place even more. The food is off the charts. I love the fish tacos and the grilled cheese sandwich. The service was great excellent. I recommend this place 10/10

Bob M.

Yelp
Best macaroons on the boardwalk. Friendly service, I highly recommend a visit when in Ocean City.

Phillip B.

Yelp
The best ice cream hands down on the boardwalk. Normally Kohl's is the first thing I get when on a NJ boardwalk, but decided this place was worth trying. I could not make up my mind so I had the Macaroon and Blueberry. Both were delicious. I really liked the macaroon and wish Ocean City was closer to my hotel in AC. I was talking this back to the car and was disappointed that they do not have lids.

James D.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream and macaroons! Our go to ice cream spot in Ocean City. Just skip the breakfast there it's not their strong suit.

Sherie C.

Yelp
there is a restaurant behind the candy bars that is just out of this world delicous. Every entree is oversized and served with a smile. My favorite is the bacon-bacon omelette-it lives up to it's name.

Sarah H.

Yelp
I was horrified to see toy guns of ak 47's and automatic pistols in unfinished wood that justs begs to be painted. How does OCNJ allow this in s town friendly to kids? I will not going that store again.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Best place on the boardwalk for Macaroon & candy, ice cream AND breakfast. One Stop shopping. Great meals for breakfast, I went back every day for one week. Ice Cream is to die for-Chocolate Fudge Madness is my personal favorite. The Macaroons will always be a staple of ocean City. Five Stars.

Andrea D.

Yelp
You wouldn't think by walking pass his place that they would have amazing breakfast. This is the second time in two different trips my husband and I have eaten here for breakfast. I have both time gotten an omelette and it was great I love the chunks of vegetables and meat they put in it. The scrapple is good. Potatoes are amazing. This is a must everytime we go down. It's like a hidden gem.

Kate F.

Yelp
One small scoop for $4, nothing special, much better options on the boardwalk and in OC.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
We've come to George's for the occasional breakfast for a few years. Breakfast last week was TERRIBLE. The home fries were clearly cooked the night before and warmed up. The eggs are not real (powder) and my waffle was disgusting. It was obviously made with some expired ingredient because it tasted like curdled milk. The best thing on the plate was the toast. Will not go back again.

Ken H.

Yelp
This is a review for the ice cream... up until this week, I always walked past the long list of flavors at George's to go for the tried and true soft-serve at Kohr Bros. This time, I stopped... and WOW, I don't know if I can go back. Motor Oil may have been the best scoop of ice cream I've ever had - I can't remember it exactly, but it was some combination of chocolate, espresso, fudge and chunks. Beyond Motor Oil, I've also liked the s'mores and chocolate fudge madness. Kit Kat is on the short list for next time!

Deborah R.

Yelp
Still an amazing breakfast! The Keith's Classic Omelette has always been my favorite, but my daughter is now a convert too! The husband always orders the B-b-b bacon omelette or the R-U- Nuts combo.

Pete S.

Yelp
Wanted to try something different other than Kohr's Brothers. I really like coffee ice cream so I gave the Nirvana a shot. The ice cream was good, and so was the waffle cone, but it was nothing special, could have very well been Ben & Jerry's. Nothing beats Kohr's.
