George's Restaurant & Bar

Great place! Had the Prime Rib special they offer every other Friday and the next day the George's big breakfast. Both were fantastic. They have creative drinks that they rotate. I had a pumpkin white russian with my breakfast. It was a great fit. The staff was very attentive and didn't miss a beat on their service. FYI they do take credit cards now.

I've been to this spot a few times with family friends. This time we went on a weekday in the winter. Parking was scarce, so we parked in the cemetary. Staff is very friendly and the portions are huge. Definitely worth it for the money. Can't wait for our next visit!

The portions of food were great and the service was very fast. We had a party of seven and we only waited 10 minutes to be sat. We ordered quite a lot of food and it was served to us quickly. The staff was very attentive and friendly! Would recommend if you’re looking for a nice place for breakfast.

Cute cafe. Had the best waitress and food was outstanding! You have to try the Apple cider marg! Yes it was 8:30 in the morning and I didn’t feel a bit guilty! lol. Crab cakes Benedict was so yummy! Made myself sick because I couldn’t stop eating it!

I absolutely love this place. I usually get a martini with breakfast, but today, just coffee. The food here is phenomenal, and the service is impeccable. I do recommend coming early. The place tends to fill up fast. The options are great, and I LOVE the croissant egg sandwich. I hope you eat here if you're in Gloucester. You won't be dissatisfied.

amazing place. my partner wanted to take me here and the food and service was excellent. the only complaint I have is that the steak in the steak bomb omelette was dry, still good nonetheless. I hope to come back again c:

We stayed in Gloucester for vacation. The food here was excellent. Service was fast. We sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner. The bartender was friendly and offered up ideas of places for us to visit. Even the other patrons at the bar were friendly enough to chime in. The atmosphere was laid back. We enjoyed George's and would definitely frequent this place if we lived nearby.

After driving by George's numerous times, we finally came by for breakfast and had an amazing time! George's is so welcoming and cozy, and they have a really fun and extensive menu. I was so excited to see tons of vegetarian options, too! The pancakes are an absolute must - especially if you get them loaded (they offer chocolate chip, Oreo, strawberry, etc). Great service, outstanding food - we will definitely be back!

Tip: ask to sit at the bar if all tables are taken, they serve food at the bar too. The avocado toast was pretty good, eggs poached well but too much balsamic and not enough avocado. The avocado was hidden at the bottom of the toast and was more of a spread like guacamole... no slices of avocado. I'd go again but get something else. Service is great ambience is that of any other breakfast restaurant near here. It is George themed so look out for Regina George, George Clooney, George Washington on the walls.

Family and I from Chicago stopped by this local restaurant before our flight heading out of Massachusetts and this place hit the spot, as we were coming from a wedding the previous day! I had their clam chowder and it was absolutely delicious. The crab cake Benedict was flavorful and filling! Service was great and we were seated very quickly!

Love this breakfast spot! Points that it's a Boozie breakfast spot. Seasonal breakfast & drink menu for the win. It's all about the George's which makes for a fun drinking game. Creative menu includes creative variations and crab cakes Benny's to experience local flavor. The French toast, waffle and pancake options made my husband drool. Highly recommend this spot anytime you're in the area! By the way the staff is super friendly and makes great suggestions!

Staff is really nice!! They gave me free water as well. The chairs are also hella comfortable, I would come here again just for the water. It's really good water....

Food was absolutely amazing. Service couldn't have been any better and the setting was amazing. I come here at least once a week for breakfast and it has yet to disappoint. The vibes are great for breakfast and I'm sure for dinner as well. For breakfast I go with the combo breakfast (simplicity done to perfection) The home fries are always crispy and well seasoned along with very yummy bacon and eggs, and my favorite part the chocolate chip pancake (dessert). One of the owners was there and was very kind and helping out in every facet. Eliza took great care of me and was very friendly, good vibes all around. I love making my own breakfast but this place just has a special place in my heart. Iwill forever be coming back.

One day in July, I had breakfast here with some friends -- their avocado toast, which was awesome. The food and service were so good that I ended up going back for lunch that same day, with a different friend. Same great waitress both times (Lily, maybe?), and she was that blend of warm and efficient that is just right.

This place used to be good but after this experience we are done entirely with this place. We used to come regularly and it is a haul for us, at least 30 minutes My partners order came out incorrectly, despite the sever repeating back the order. The requested change was not a complication either. And it then took 20 minutes for the correction to come out and I was already done with my meal. They should have rushed his order above everything else as it was either the fault of the kitchen or the server. And this is not the first time this has happened here. And this time, when we rejected the corrected order since it took so long already, the manager blamed us for not ordering it correctly. Real nice move to blame the customer. Done with this place.

This is still the best breakfast place on Cape Ann. The omelettes are great, as are the pancakes.

Food was amazing and service was even better. This was our second time here and we have felt well cared for by the staff. We are from Boston and they even gave us tips on where to park to access some of the beaches in Gloucester. Any time we find ourselves in this area- we will always stop by.

Reasonable prices and huge portions! Everything was delicious however, the homestyle potatoes were a tad salty but honestly not too bad. Service was great and food came out in a reasonable time. This place is a bit cozy but is super clean all around.

Stopped in for breakfast and it was the best decision we made while visiting the Rockport area :) All breakfast items we ordered were great and the service was awesome! Portions are huge and coffee was yum! Totally recommend!

Came here based on the Yelp reviews, so glad we did! The owner was busy helping everyone, really nice to see! Friendly service, fun atmosphere with famous George's pictures as decor. Long wait for food on a Sunday morning but well worth it. Chicken Benedict for me, cheesesteak boats for hubs and a cinnamon roll pancake to share. Everything was excellent, we were stuffed! We will def return on our next Gloucester trip.

No complaints about George's at all. The servers are all extremely friendly and attentive. Their prices are great. We came here for both breakfast and dinner and both times were great! This is definitely the kind of hometown dinner that really should have that world famous status. Loved it!

Huge and tasty breakfasts, and I love their Tuesdays burger nights. Friendly staff and a pleasant and relaxed ambiance.

Breakfast was just ok , how can you mess it up, service was slow, the table was left dirty with plates for 15 minutes after party left. Haven't been here for 4 years , doesn't have the same ambiance. My food order eggs over easy were over cooked. Over priced for breakfast . I would dine someone else.

Went for breakfast at George's for the 1st time the other day. The breakfast was very good and the service was spot on. Even though I don't live in the area it was worth the drive.

This was the second time I was taken here by family. The first time was three months ago and had one of the finest breakfasts I've had. This time I decided to try the cheeseburger. Being a bit of a "snob" about them I never really hold much hope but lo and behold this was one of the best tasting burgers I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, so flavorful, so juicy, and I was so stuffed I couldn't finish that last bite tho I tried so hard to. The fries were crinkle fries and cooked perfectly. Just an amazingly tasty lunch. My GF had the pulled pork sandwich and that was so beautifully tasty as well. Being here from California, I only wish I was able to dine here more often. (Or they had a burger this good in Los Angeles). Highly recommend. All of their food. And the waitress, Dee, was so pleasant and wonderful. I look forward to my next trip here where I will definitely come back!

The older waitress was a big grumpy, and the food was not exceptional, but it was well priced ample portion, and I would go back

First 2 seconds I entered I was kindly greeted with a choice of where I wanted to sit. The hostess didn't even have to ask, and just assumed we wanted waters! Waitress was very kind and polite. So relaxing - good lighting, quiet and peaceful music with nice views of the street. Just excellent. The food was so good and ready in a timely manner. Will be returning. Thanks so much!

We stopped in for breakfast and it was great! The service was friendly and fast and the portions were definitely generous. An extensive breakfast menu offered all the variety you could hope for.

We went there for breakfast the first day and it was so good we went the second day but.... First day I had blueberry pancakes and my husband had seafood Benedict. Everything was excellent! Second day I had the gravy, sausage and eggs while my husband had the sausage and vegetable omelette. We were both disappointed. Gravy was good but biscuits were flat and hard not light and fluffy like I was expecting. Couldn't even taste the sausage. My husband said the same about his omelette. Couldn't tell by the taste there was any sausage. Service was great both days though. Except one thing I noticed there was a bunch of egg spilled on the floor near one of the tables. They sat a new party without ever cleaning it up. They just kept stepping on the food and these weren't little pieces. So a 5 star and a 3 star averages to a 4 with the good service.

Good basic food. Great breakfast. Huge quantities. If you want a decent meal at a good price this is an option. It is not a foodie or a fine dining place rather a place to go when you don't feel like cooking and you want to feel like you had a meal tasting fine and not overcharging

We waited about 30 minutes for a table and they have a great app so you can see where you are in line and get a text when your table is ready. The service was really great and the food was really good. The food came out pretty quickly too. I enjoyed the Benedict. The hot coffee was mediocre but not worth taking a star off for that - they were at least good about refilling it! I also appreciated all the George decorations. It made for a fun ambiance. The new owner was very friendly he came over and asked if everything was good. Well done, George's!

I have not been to Georges since Dean still owned the place and wowwww it is just as good if not better than when I was last here. Me and my friend decided to try out dinner at the new Georges as that was never a thing before the new owners took over and let me tell you you will not be disappointed, I got the BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese it was amazing. The waitress we had was very friendly and attentive and seems to genuinely care about us as people and not as customers. Im definitely going to have to come back to try the breakfast sometime.

Really fun place-awesome with kids. only thing is I ordered Avocado toast which was incredible -except it didn't have avaxado on it? it was like jarred or bagged avaVado sauce. avocado toast is primarily one thing - avacado..

Great burgers, quick and inexpensive. Good quality meat, well cooked and fresh. Always friendly service and good food. Highly recommend.

We have a new go-to place in Gloucester! The food and staff are amazing. Breakfast is top notch. The Irish Benedict is to die for ... the steak tips on salad are amazingly tender and flavorful. Our grandson is in love with the Oreo pancakes and all the pictures on the wall of famous "Georges" ... including George Jetson. Now he watches the show on TV. Expect a wait, but it is worth it for sure. Super friendly staff and delicious food.

Anadama bread is my new favorite thing! The omelette was amazing. I really enjoyed the "breakfast club" sitting behind us.

This restaurant was great, and with a really fun concept! After a Gloucester beach day, we were looking for something to eat and remembered passing George's on the way in and decided to check it out. The restaurant is decorated with photos of various Georges (Costanza, Bush, etc). Three of us shared, and everything was delicious! The staff was also so accommodating as one of my friends is vegetarian. We shared the chicken Caesar wrap (chicken on the side), the veggie risotto, and the soft shell tacos. The tacos typically come with a choice of meat, and our server suggested we add mixed vegetables to them instead. This was a great suggestion and the tacos (along with everything else) were so good! I would definitely recommend this place and, after reading the other reviews, my only regret is that I didn't come for breakfast!

Very friendly staff and delicious food! All the breakfast staples plus more! I had the Greek scramble and it was delicious. Very flavorful, which is not always the case with eggs. My partner had the huevos rancheros and added sausage. He raved about it. We came here for a night away, went out to a fancy dinner and George's was by far the best place we ate at. Our waitress, Lisa, was phenomenal. Super sweet, accommodating and friendly. We waited a bit for our food, but it was well worth the wait and we enjoyed seeing all the interesting dishes and drinks that were being served. The Boody Mary's looked awesome as did the champagne flight. Also, incredibly reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back!

I went 25 minutes away from my way back home to check this place out, and I was not disappointed. This is a very local diner, that has been around since 1918 if I remember the sign correctly. The portions are HUGE and you can certainly find street parking available. I came in on a Sunday at 10 and was able to sit at the bar with my SO. We were immediately greeted and had our coffee and water in no time. I went with the corned beef hash, three eggs, toast, and two crispy hashbrowns. He got the croissant sandwich with ham. We also ordered a blueberry pancake to split because we had to see how large it was for ourselves. You do not see the plate haha. Both meals were awesome and the service made you feel like you've been coming here for years. Do yourself a favor and come in, have solid meal, and leave extremely full. You can also do takeout if you want!

New to town and was excited to check out the local breakfast spot. I went this past weekend with my 2.5 year old, 8 month old and husband in tow. We were quickly seated and it seemed as though those waiting did not have to wait too long either... The food took a reasonable amount of time to be prepared and my husband was impressed with how "clean" his eggs were. (At many a breakfast place, the griddle is used for cooking multiple items and other residue is visible on his eggs- this one was spotless and perfectly cooked). The portions were enormous, I think my daughter's hot cocoa was bigger than her head, and it goes without saying that the pancake was possibly the biggest I've ever seen. I loved my huevos rancheros as well. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We will certainly be back!

We loooooooove George's! Full bar (hello!), dynamic and personable owner, friendly staff--and reaallllllyyyyyy good food! Special shout out to the bartender who appears to be living their best life! Love it. Enjoy the options and everything we've gotten has been wonderful. It's always included in our rotation now that we found it! Great place.

Yeah, so all these 5-star reviews? Totally warranted. Even if you save your 5-star reviews for the truly worthy places, this restaurant gets five full stars. Anyone who doesn't think so is nuts. We had breakfast here and it was outstanding across the board. Atmosphere. Service. Food. All awesome.

Nothing but good things to say about breakfast at George's. I've ordered take out once and dined in once. Both times food and service has been great. The breakfast burrito is awesome as is the egg scramble. The inside is very clean and it's got a great local vibe. I can see why George's has such a loyal following!

Breakfast at George's is the best! Nice folks , reasonable prices, and a redesigned bar area which is very attractive....Iv'e only had breakafast there, it's my favorite place! They did change the printing of the menu....old one was much more entertaining!
