Fun experience for all ages! This train loop lasts a little over an hour and leaves the station multiple times a day. When you arrive, there is a large parking lot available a short walk from the main entrance. All of the staff had high energy and were engaging with every guest. They guided us to the gift shop to pick up our printed tickets, which make a memorable souvenir on their own if you don’t care to spend at the shop. I recommend purchasing tickets before arrival for weekend visits. We arrived about 20 minutes early with a small line to both the tickets and the train. Even at full capacity, the train seating felt spacious. The train seats are communal wood benches along each side of the cars. Personally, I think there is more of a “view” on the river side of the train when you first get on. Folks move around after the stop in Silver Lake, so if you’d like both views, you can swap sides for the ride back down. The museum is small but packs plenty of history about this route. There were fun jokes throughout the history we were provided which made the experience even more entertaining. The team is also very engaging with the kids!

Google
Highly recommend. It was fun enjoyable, the staff was very knowledgeable! If you love scenic adventure, this is a MUST GO TO! I surprised my husband with this yesterday for our 4 year anniversary. It was everything I had hoped, he had an amazing g time as well! Thank you for the breath taking experience! We’ll be back!

Google
The train ride itself was okay. I knew it was short and I wish it were longer. Compared to all the other scenic trains I've been on in Colorado, I was surprised by some of the "rules" ... Such as, you can't move around the train once it was in motion. In addition to the train ride, I opted for the Silver mine tour and gold panning. Connor and the mine tour was absolutely amazing. We were apart of a larger group (8), but he took the time to answer our millions of questions. You can tell he is passionate about teaching others about the mining history and we can't thank him enough. Overall, it was an awesome experience. Go Orediggers! (Yes, we had Mines students amongst us).

Google
Such a cute train ride. Amazing views. Souvenir shop is a bit pricey but there is a free museum tour. I enjoyed the mine tour and gold panning just be aware the mines are on the colder side year round, I think around 40°F (4.4C) so bring a sweater. There is a freezing stream running through the mine so watch where you step and I advise against sandals. Watch the weather too, the train is only partially protected from the elements

Google
Great experience to ride the train with family and kids. Great scenic views on both sides. Staff was great. Arrived in a weekday for their 2pm ride. It was not crowded at all.

Google
We had so much fun! You have to board from Georgetown and it is round trip. Save some money for groups of 4 to 6 by getting the Colorado History membership. You can buy that on site and still save some money. Not cheap, but great memories for the kiddos! They recommend buying tickets ahead of time, but during the week we had no problem walking up and buying tickets for the next train. You can board 15 minutes before train departs.

Google
My trip on the Georgetown Loop Railroad was a great experience. The train ride offered diverse views and was a blast, it reminded me of the Polar Express movie. Restrooms are available in the park, and I recommend adding the mining tour. Our guide, Jimbo, was outstanding and gave us a truly immersive look into the mining history.

Google
An amazing railroad with very friendly staff. Although it's a short ride, the scenery makes it worth all the time. Absolutely recommended. For all those who want a vacation here. This is the crown jewel of Georgetown.

Yelp
Such a fun way to spend a day for the holidays, for adult and children alike. Santa comes through the train cars and makes sure he greets everyone so have your list ready! There are different ticket options from open train cars (bundle up!) to the Waldorf Car which was festively decorated and warm. A sweet staff comes through and takes your drink orders and also brings the check at the end of the trip. The ride is through the mountains of Georgetown is beautiful and just a relaxing way to celebrate the holidays. We are all adults but enjoyed the children who were near us. The train ride is roughly 60 minutes from start to finish, making a one direction start and then reversing the train to return to the station There are no bathrooms on the train, and you cannot bring your own food or drink. Just hop on and enjoy the view. It is simply wonderful Get tickets ahead of time as they sell out. Parking is ample and free

Yelp
For families with young kids, the Georgetown Loop at Christmas can become one of your holiday traditions. It's charming, picturesque, and they have amazing Santas every year. Our family has done this for the past three years, and I'm sure we'll continue going for as long as our kids will go. A few tips: - Show up about 10-15 minutes before your time. You need to park, pick up your ticket, and hit the bathroom before you can get on the train. - Ask for a bell in the gift shop when you pick up your tickets. - Book a ticket in one of the better cars. It's worth the difference in price to have assigned seats and snacks for the ride, especially if you have kids. - Get your tickets in August when tickets go on sale and have your pick of any day you want.

Yelp
Oct 2024 - Amazing time riding the Georgetown Loop Train, we caught the train at the Silver Plume depot This wknd Oct 5th-6th was their pumpkin fest, each child was given a trick-or-treat bag w/ a few goodies inside, nice touch ! Adult tickets are $38 & kids ages (1 to 16) are $32. They have a gift shop as well. Weather was perfect, scenery was sublime and the ride was fun !

Yelp
Overall, I enjoyed this experience and would go back. The lights on the outside of the train and train station were stunning. I wish it was a little longer (only 60 minutes) with the train going back down the same way you came so you get the same view twice. The cocktails were not very good and tasted watered down. The staff was very friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I do wish they had a car and/or night for adults only as it was pretty loud with a lot of children.

Yelp
This was an incredible experience that was only an hour west of metro Denver. For a mere thirty dollars a person, you can ride a steam driven, narrow gauge train from Georgetown to Silver Plume. The views are breath taking and the history of at all is amazing. The staff at the ticket counter and on the train were friendly and professional. They wear period type costumes and play out their rolls quite well. The entire experience was first rate and fun from beginning to end. The loop takes about an hour which is just long enough to be fun but not so long as to become dull. Perfect duration for kids and their attention spans. I can't wait to do this again near Christmas when they do Xmas lights as well.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed Georgetown Loop Railroad in December. Annie took great care of us and kept everyone following the rules. Santa and the Conductor visited with us and we sang Jingle Bells. The custom Bell was the perfect surprise souvenir.
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
We had a great ride on the Georgetown Loop. You will definitely want to buy your tickets ahead of time, especially during the busy season. We went in December and were very grateful to be sitting in a Parlour car. The Parlour car came with a snack basket and a free NA drink. The ride is short (just over an hour,) but the views were beautiful. It was a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Additionally, while we didn't have time to do any exploring, the town of Georgetown looks like it would be a fun visit before or after your train ride.

Yelp
A last minute day trip turned into an incredible memory. The views will speak for themselves and the staff made the trip relaxing. Sit, take in the scenery, listen to the background train music, and reminisce of a quieter, simpler time. My children and I had a great experience panning for gold (I have zero skill), but they did great. The mine tour was an absolute blast. Our female guide was the perfect host, knowledgeable, funny, and down to earth. A wonderful educational experience we will never forget

Yelp
Enjoyed the adventure. Easily reachable from Denver and won't take up the whole day. Scenic outdoors, nice facilities and staff.

Yelp
We went to the lighted forest at 6:30pm and my nephews and niece loved it! I personally wish I had gone earlier to see the scenery, but it was still worth it. Santa came through and had a nice conversation with the kids and the kids loved it. It was super cold outside but the carts inside of coach kept us pretty warm. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Back to simple pleasures! We took two of our grandkids to the opening night of the holiday lights for the 2023 season. We paid the extra money and sat in the Waldorf car and oh my it was so worth it we were able to have hot chocolate and enjoy the beautiful, Colorado Rocky Mountains on the Georgetown loop and be entertained by all the lights. We crossed clear Creek four times throughout the loop and were able to look over the 300,000 lights for this special time ... We will be going back and bringing more of our family to enjoy a classic holiday experience

Yelp
One of the top 3 railroad experiences in Colorado -- along with the Leadville and Durango railroads (do NOT fall into the tourist trap that is the Royal Gorge one. Getting here is easy: just 45 minutes driving from Denver. The ride itself is just a little over an hour, which is perfect for those with shorter attention spans (or kids). I recommend doing a 10am weekday ride, which has the fewest people. However, they also do really cool themed rides some weekends -- like a "pumpkin" one for kids or an "autumn" beer one for adults. The staff is all super nice and always checking in with everyone. Super welcoming environment. Don't forget to stop by historic Georgetown afterwards and walk around the shops and restaurants.

Yelp
We were visiting our kids and grandkids in the Denver area and they suggested the Georgetown Loop Railroad. I've always loved trains and would never turn down a chance to actually go on a train trip. Sadly, this one was only a bit more than an hour but the scenery was awesome. At some points during the trip, you can actually see I-70 hugging the mountain as it heads west of Georgetown. Based on all the smoke and smells, I really thought the train was wood or coal fired and was surprised when one of the conductors explained that it was fueled by recycled fuel oil. Having the grandkids with us, it was a foregone conclusion that we'd be sitting in one of the open air cars but, ultimately, I think that really enhanced the experience. The train leaves Georgetown and makes "a loop" (duh, that's why it's called the Georgetown Loop Railroad) with a stop in Silver Plume. You have about 20 minutes in Silver Plume to use the restroom and visit the gift shop. If you miss the gift shop in Silver Plume - fear not, there's another one back in Georgetown. Give yourself plenty of time - traffic is often slow on this stretch of I-70 and parking can be a bit crowded. We arrived about 30-40 minutes early and didn't have to rush. The train was thoroughly enjoyable - not only for the grandkids but for the old grandpa and his wife. Great excursion.
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
Check out the gift shop and small houses on the way in. Get there at least a half hour early. Sit on one extreme end of the train: since it reverses direction, you get to be the first and last car. Half way through there is a stop with a bathroom break. The train was from 1920 and was an interesting ride. I thought we would veer around the mountain you can see from I70, but we moreso ran along near it. The views were good, especially of the river. The price was reasonable and the ride was a bit over an hour.

Yelp
Sept 2024: please mistsu review: she says it all. Snowed the day we went to Georgetown RR, yup bring the kids but hold on to the as RR cars have no windows. Dress warm in summer u start

Yelp
When you spend the money you do riding the train to Santa's lighted forest, you hope for a magical experience. The wait staff on the presidential car was awful. She started the evening off by yelling at as the rules and how she hopes were better than the last group. She Had an attitude the whole night until she gave us our bills, hoping for a tip. Santa was great and very kind. The views from the train were ok. The ambience wasn't very magical. At the very least, you could play some Christmas music. Pop or water was the complimentary drink and hot coco was extra. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever do it again.
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
Been wanting to do this for years. Hubs and I are both natives and glad we finally checked it off the list. We went end of May and had no problems booking tickets the same day So fun to hear more about colorado history and step back in time. They take your picture as your boarding and then walk through and sell you your picture during the ride. We couldn't believe they printed them that fast!! If we go again we would love to try the Christmas train or the mine. Overall would highly recommend to friends and family visiting!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't know if we came at a time where there wasn't much to see or I expected too much. Thankfully the weather was decent that day but it did start to rain after. The line gets pretty long to board so if you want a better seat come earlier so you can pick a better seat. It is FCFS. During the weekdays I think they only open up COACH seats. There is an indoor/outdoor choice which is great for when it gets cold and you want to sit inside. The outdoor is obviously better since you can see more. We sat at the outdoor one with the kiddos. It's my youngest boys first time riding a train so he had a blast haha he is also 4 so his expectations are slim to none haha. So pretty much while you are in the train they tell you a bit about Georgetown. The speaker was very soft so we barely heard much. You look around then cross this bridge and then stop at the other station. You stop for a few minutes then ride back. That's it. It's about an hour or more. I don't know if I would say it's worth the almost $150 I paid for all 5 of us but it's the experience I guess. I just wished we saw more. I def wouldn't ride it again. They do have other train events like the Christmas ones and Halloween. Maybe those are Better! If I were to do it again it would def be an event one!

Yelp
Came during the summer, early June and it was a cold rainy day. No cancellations but also not a lot of visitors either. Highly recommend the mine tour, really made the whole ride worth it. Otherwise it's probably less than an hour. Our guide with the mine tour was informative and really made the whole experience worth it. Would even recommend for little kids as well, so much good information shared about the history of Colorado mining.

Yelp
This was my first time taking a train ride in the mountains and it was absolutely breath taking. There is three purchase options for the train ride, the first one is just the train ride which is just an hour or maybe a little under an hour, the second options is the train ride plus the mining and the third option is the train ride plus mining but an extended version of the mining . We did the second option but will definitely go back to do the third. This was the coolest experience ever in the mountains and so many rivers we saw w such fast moving waters. And our guide bri was just so knowledgeable. Will definitely be back for everything they offer. Oh one cute thing they did was hid small kids toys throughout the mountains as you ride pass it

Yelp
I was really excited to take the Georgetown Loop Railroad Santa Train, but sadly, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The experience was soured by one employee in particular--a woman who was rude, unprofessional, and completely ruined the atmosphere for everyone on board. These experiences are the ones you remember as children and it's unfortunate that they couldn't put in more effort to make it a happy atmosphere as you could feel the anger and lack of patience in her tone and how she spoke to everyone so rudely. First off, she never once smiled or made any effort to engage with the passengers in a friendly way. Instead, she spent the whole ride yelling at people and making rude comments. It was uncomfortable to watch, and even more uncomfortable to be on the receiving end of her hostility. To top it off, she walked around setting trash on our table if you tried throwing away a drink with even one droplet of anything left in it. It felt like we were being treated like an inconvenience instead of guests which is sad since we put so much effort and money into making this special. What made the situation worse was that it wasn't just me who noticed--everyone around me was commenting on how rude she was. It really affected the mood of the ENTIRE train, and what should have been a fun, festive experience turned into a frustrating and unpleasant one. We also had a special needs child with us and when we needed help by another family member who was at another table she would yell at us and have security come talk to us as if we were doing something wrong by ensuring that the child had all the necessary support needed since she wouldn't let us switch tables with anyone either and yelled at many people. The security guard also as rude as the woman. It was a very hostile environment. I get that everyone has bad days, but when you're working with the public, especially during a special holiday event, a basic level of courtesy is expected especially with the price you pay for the tickets. Unfortunately, this experience left a lot to be desired, and I won't be returning to the Georgetown Loop Railroad. It's a shame that one employee's poor attitude could ruin what could have been a memorable outing for our family.

Yelp
I am a big train fan, so any scenic (or otherwise even) train ride is an automatic winner in my book. Here is what I specifically enjoyed about the Georgetown Loop: -We came during fall foliage time, so the scenery was extra scenic! Highly recommend timing it this way if you can. -The ride is about 1hr 15min(ish), so just long enough to have fun without committing your whole day to a train ride -There is not a ton of on-ride commentary, so you have the chance to take in the scenery, relax, and enjoy it with your family/friends -There is a 15min or so break at the top before you head back down the same tracks, giving time to stretch your legs, use the facilities, and take train pictures Other things to know: -Parking lot is large but fills up easily on busy days, so arrive with plenty of time -If you buy tickets online, you still need to present this at will call for a paper ticket -Open seating, so again arrive with plenty of time if you want to have you pick of seats (all bench seating on the train we were on) -Recommend sitting on the right-hand side of the train when looking "uphill" as you enter from the station platform

Yelp
We love riding the Georgetown Loop Railroad! No matter what time of year we go, it is scenic and beautiful. I love how they have spiced it up and geared it toward different themes now. It keeps it different and interesting. This is the second year in a row that we have done the Fall Colors ride. The seating is plentiful and you have nice views from anywhere. I like how there is the option of having covered seating or more open seating. Buying tickets is easy as you can do it online. That makes it very convenient. The staff has always been extremely friendly and pleasant. Their gift shops have a variety of snacks, drinks, and fun things to buy. There is a shop at both stations and you have the opportunity to shop at either one no matter where you depart from. There is a very short (10 minute) stop where you can get out, stretch, use the bathroom, or shop at the station you did not depart from. This is a fun ride for all ages! Throughout the ride not only are there gorgeous views, but there are also hidden things throughout the forest for you to find!

Yelp
Wow, where to begin? The Georgetown Loop, Railroad is a pretty train ride on a historic steam engine. It takes about 1.5 hours to ride. You board at one station and take a ride to the next station before looping back. You can buy tickets for a covered parlor car, or sit on benches in an open car. I recommend booking ahead to get a seat in the parlor car. It's about an $8 difference in price. The parlor car provides free soft drinks, and a basket of snacks for your ride. There are premium drinks and sometimes beer or wine for purchase. The parlor car was beautiful, and there were attendants to take drink orders. I was able to order a hot apple cider which was nice for the chilly day. Cash or card was accepted. Most weekends have a theme. We came on a "Fall Fest" weekend where a local brewery was sampling beer and root beer for kids. You could purchase a drink at the station, and drink it in the parlor car. I saw advertisements for a summer Wild West train with a mock train robbery. Around Christmas, they do an evening holiday train and you can see lights along the route. The cars are decked out with Christmas decor. The different themes make me want to visit all year round! Check this out if you are looking for something to do with a group. I would be fun to take a ride for an adult or child's birthday, bachelor/bachelorette party, or just to spice up a Saturday. The whole experience takes about an hour and a half. Pro Tip: Check out the Georgetown Loop Instagram for the most up-to-date information about the themed trains and what to expect! Dress warmly if it's a chilly day.

Yelp
Nestled in the mountains about 60 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Redrocks amphitheater is the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Named after the mining town of Georgetown, this is a must experience train ride & mine tour. The people that work here are well educated about the history or the railway, mine, and the town itself. Most the workers I spoke with actually live very close by. The train is freaking amazing, you cal feel the engine chugging throughout the valley and the horn is hunting. The place is also a picture taking gold mine with ton of photo opportunities. The mine tour was great and our guide was hilarious!! He even tried his best to make us believe that the mine was haunted by the former workers "some people bit, not this guy lol!!" They also a nice gift shop. This definitely a must see is you are anywhere near Redrocks!

Alisa J.

Yelp
Had a great time on the Georgetown train! We didn't get tickets till the day of so we had to ride from the silverplume location but it wasn't far away. The train was a lot of fun and the whole ride was around 90 minutes. They had a gift shop and clean bathroom at the station as well. The ride was informative and very beautiful. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Thaine K.

Yelp
My wife and I had a great weekend in Georgetown. The train, panning for gold, and the mine tour were really special.

william m.

Yelp
After years of doing coach class, we splurged on the parlor car for the Santa train. Our waitress, Annie, was a miserable person who made the experience absolutely horrible. The photographer asked if we could all gather around one table for the picture and my 80 year old parents just sat at the closest empty table after the photo. When my young son asked the waitress if he could please have some water, Annie refused him because she claimed my 80 year old parents had moved for the picture. It was very confusing and so incredibly inappropriate. I will be telling everyone I know to stay away from this experience. There are plenty of other trains over the holidays, don''t ruin your holiday spirit with nasty women like Annie.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
The Georgetown Loop is a fun experience if you're in the area! I've gone both in Spring and Fall and it's been lovely both times. The views are beautiful so definitely bring your camera. You do have the option of getting off halfway through, keep in mind when people get off and come back on some will switch seats so if you like your seat a lot, I would stay on the train. I did go on Mother's Day for one of my trips and it was sold out so if you're planning on going on a holiday, buy your tickets in advance online! Definitely recommend, it's a good time for all ages!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
The train itself is really lovely. We did not have a bad experience with staff as others did. But the lighting of the areas the train goes through is haphazard and skimpy. If you purchase parlor car tickets you get packaged cider or hot chocolate. You can purchase alcoholic drinks which cost an additional $9 each and you get a very small paper cup. I like the idea of the Christmas train but for what it is I don't think it's worth the money. Spend less and go to zoo lights. THAT is a beautiful experience.

Christian S.

Yelp
All I can say is do it! Make the drive and enjoy the trip. Our kids haven't stopped talking about it. We will make sure to make this a new stop on our trip list. Tim was awesome with explaining the history of the RR and engaged in conversation. The staff at the bottom of the mountain all 4 of the women (please forgive me as I don't recall your names, were super helpful and kind. Thank you for an awesome time and memory that will last a lifetime. Please checkout all of my photos and videos like them as well

Yelp
This was so fun today! Took the hour loop from the Devil's Loop depot for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great! It seemed like there were a lot of people but nothing was crowded. All cars are open air - they are all covered but the sides are open - so bear that in mind when deciding whether or not to grab a jacket (or two). It's been pretty chilly lately and rainy so we got a little wet on the ride. The scenery is gorgeous though! This is a great activity for kids too.
google avatar

Devon T.

Yelp
So the scenery was really amazing. We got to see Santa. All the lights were awesome. We got stuck four times. We lost heat to our cabin. The engineer never told us what was happening. People started panicking and looking at ways to hike back. We were given no information until the very end when SANTA told us they had electrical issues.
google avatar

Luke H.

Yelp
It's a fun, touristy place to go to. It's going to be totally packed when you go, especially in the summer. But it's an enjoyable adventure. It is quite scenic and I recommend going at least once.
google avatar

Nancy L.

Yelp
A fun experience to visit if you are ever needing something to do with friends and family! My friend and I were visiting Denver and stumble across Georgetown and found this railroad experience. It was 1-1/2 hour train ride around the town and we got to learn about the history and saw the beautiful views!
google avatar

Roberto B.

Yelp
definitely a must ride, the scenery was absolutely unbelievable. The train conductors were out of this world, just ensure you press warm, and wear dark clothing, because the train engine smoke and ash can show up on your clothing. Lol.
google avatar

Slim S.

Yelp
This was an amazing trip/ride me and my family really enjoyed ourselves the views are so beautiful the only thing is there wasn't not one animal in site im from Florida I'm use to see all types of animals that was my wish to see a family of deers also the closer you are to the engine the more smoke you will inhale which is pretty strong with charcoal hitting you in your face overall it was still a great ride and I will be coming back soon.
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
We enjoyed the train ride! I will say that it's not worth it as much (unless you have small children) if you don't add on the mine tour. The guides were so kind and knowledgeable about the subject! Loved the scenery.

Yelp
I had so much fun on the Santa Train with my husband, parents, and toddler! This was our first ever time on the train (my parents went during the summer a year or two ago though and had fun). Devils Gate Station was very easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Also the parking lot port a potties were very well maintained. All of the holiday decorations were great and helped us get into the spirit. I have a 2 and a half year old son who is crazy for trains, so seeing his eyes light up at the sight of our train was definitely worth the price of tickets. We had seats on the Tahoe car and definitely recommend upgrading if it's in your budget. The sears were comfortable and the whole car felt warm and Christmasy. We all really enjoyed the snacks too. I had a Presidential cocktail (spiced rum and apple cider) and it was way better than I expected it to be. My son is still talking about the strawberry candies he had in the train- in fact, he calls it The Other Polar Express Train, since he's just become acquainted with that delightful book. Anyway, my family had a great time and I think we'd all be glad to do it again next year!
google avatar

Yelp
I just recently learned that you could actually book tickets to ride on this cute little train that goes from Georgetown to Silver Plume and back. And when my husband and I researched it and found out that they offered Christmas-themed rides, we thought it would be the perfect gift for his parents who were coming to town for the holidays. We ended up buying tickets for us, his parents, and his brother to enjoy the day after Christmas. In true Colorado Christmas style, it snowed in the mountains that day, which made it all the more magical. We just got the general admission tickets (not the fancy dinner cars), so I was a little worried that we would be cold; however, the cars were very comfortable, and actually, I got a bit warm with the big jacket I was wearing! While we were on the train, 2 actors acted out a short script of Scrooge, which was entertaining to watch as we winded around the mountains on the charmingly decorated train. Overall, we had a great time and so did the rest of the family! Highly recommend buying this as a Christmas gift for your loved ones.

Yelp
Rode the Georgetown Loop Railroad for the first time this weekend out of Devil's Gate and thought it was an enjoyable and fun experience. There are two depots that you can depart from, one being Devil's Gate and the other being Silver Plume. Personally, I like Devil's Gate better because it offers better views and is away from the loud highway. Parking is in a nice lot up top, but it does fill up fast. Once you find a spot, you'll head down to the ticketing desk which is located inside the gift shop. There they will give you your printed tickets and make sure you don't lose them as they will be needed twice. We booked the first train ride of the day at 10 a.m. and left around 10:15 because of all the late people and stragglers. There was plenty of seating with 9 train cars to choose from. Some of them were enclosed, while others had no cover at all. The seats in the coach cars were bench seating and weren't comfortable at all when you have to crane your neck to see, but ya gotta deal with what ya got. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. They were always waving, smiling and greeting everyone. During the ride, the train conductor came through and punched our tickets to validate them. I thought that was fun as I have never experienced that before after all these years of watching The Polar Express. There was also a tour guide giving information over the speaker system, but I couldn't make out anything she was saying with the noise from the train combined with other people talking. I enjoyed the ride and the views, but it felt a lot shorter than I thought it was going to be. Basically you take the train from one depot to the next and back. We stopped at Silver Plume for about 15 minutes where we were able to get off and look around, but then we had to head back. For $32 a ticket, I am glad that I can mark this off my Colorado bucket list, but I'm not sure if it's worth it to go again.

Yelp
If I can leave zero stars I would. This is not a review regarding railroad tours but rather a specific female employees inappropriate attitude today. My family were returning home on East bound I70 and stuck in traffic for 2 hours. My little one couldn't hold it till the next George Town exit so we pulled off silver plume exit praying for a place with a restroom. The only place aside from a marajuana shop was a little gift shop. We started following a few ladies towards the gift and over heard women shouting at another girl who was asking to use their restroom. "We don't have a damn public restrooms. I'm the owner and if I said no then it means no public restrooms, the closet public I have for you is the port a potty down the road." Here is why it upsets me even if I wasn't the one being hollered at. I heard this woman from the parking lot and shoved my kid back into the car because I didn't want to be around in hostile people or surrounding. The golden rule in life "treat others the way you would want to be treated." I hope the owner sees this message, since the hollering woman claimed to be the owner. If cleaning the bathroom is too much then ask for people to make a minimum purchase to have access to your bathroom. Or simply put out a sign stating no public restrooms and only for paying railroad tour customers only. No need to be so rude. I'll will never be a patron of this business after this encounter no matter how great reviews are here. Cheers all.

Yelp
What a fun thing to do with the little ones! Would be even better if there was more snow on the ground. One of the highlights of the trip is Santa Clause. The Santa on our train was so good!! He could really read the kids so well including our toddler grandson who wanted nothing to do Santa. Ha. We sat in the car that offered a table with snacks and you could purchase alcoholic beverages. Having the table was very nice. We did afternoon trip but I am sure the evening trips with the lights would be nice too. The train doesn't go in a loop but out to Silverthorne then returns the same way.

Yelp
We went on this tour as a family of 5 on the Parlor car. We had to get 2 tables. One table with 4 chairs (I think it was $163) and a table with 2 chairs ( $79). Each table had a little basket with kettle chips, crackers, wrapped cheese, 2 individually wrapped chocolate chip cookies, and a couple other little snacks. You get a complimentary can of soda or water bottle. The train literally only goes about 4 or 5 miles per/hr all the way to the museum in SIlver Plume (about 1 hr). When we got up to the end of the railroad, the museum was closed, so we couldn't get off the train. I wish they would have given us a heads up for those who shouldn't have drinks since there's no bathroom breaks for 2 hrs So mow its time to head back down the mountain! The train just reversed so the people on the right side as you enter the train, didn't get to see the other side which had all the scenery...so dont call it a loop if it's not making a loop ‍ Lastly, I would recommend there be more historical information/narration. For a family with small children, it might be a great tour but my 15 yr old was a little bored. For the price, the overall experience isnt quite worth it.

Yelp
It was a fun experience. We've been coming to Denver for more than 10 years and are finally starting to explore the state of colorado. We're so glad we came to Georgetown to experience this train ride up the mountain. We had such great views of the fall foliage as the season is changing, plus I've ridden a true open air locomotive. Such a great experience for me and the kids. I recommend you add this train ride to your todo list.

Yelp
Had a blast on the railroad! If you are anything like me and think this is an actual loop it isn't the train goes one way and back the same way but enjoyed the views and mountains.

Yelp
This was a fun excursion while visiting the mountains! It was a beautiful day and the conductor was knowledgeable and made the ride fun. Since we live in Georgetown TX we had to visit Georgetown Colorado!

Yelp
I've been in the summer and rode in the open air car, which is so great. But this trip was in the winter , on the Victorian train so we did the Waldorf car. It's their most unique train car. The windows are a bit smaller than the other train cars. The bench seats were very comfy though, we are a plus size family and we fit with 2 on each side just fine, also the table was far enough from us that we had plenty of room. They served a basket of snacks which consisted of cheese, crackers, cookies, apples and grapes. We also ordered 2 spirited cocoas and 2 regulars for the kids. All of us enjoyed our drinks. After the hour and 15 minute ride they offer the kids a bell and everyone cookies and candy canes. Also Santa surprised us on the train! Parking is very close, my friend was wearing a injury boot and had no problem getting to the train. Parking is also free.
