DETAILED REVIEW FROM A REPEAT VISITOR! I've visited the past 3 years in a row. This year I purchased discounted tickets when they first went on sale... I think way back in August. You do not need to reserve a day or time, and all tickets get you in whenever you decide to show up. The wait is usually super long, but if you're in line before "closing time" you will get in. They stay open until everyone in line gets through. Thursdays are a little better, but still expect a long wait. They do offer fast passes for an additional fee, but my daughter and I did a fast pass for a different haunted house one year and the lack of anticipation and buildup really ruined it for us. Waiting in line is part of the experience! They always have actors wandering around messing with people, so it's fun.
I love that they change it up a little every year, even though they took out one of my favorite parts this year. (It was an inflated thing you sort of had to push your way through but you couldn't see it under the fog... it was really cool!) There was one point this year where they closed a door to hold us back (for flow purposes), and we were confused. We thought we went the wrong way or couldn't figure out the door. It would have been helpful to have "wait!" painted in blood on the door or something. I did very much appreciate that we barely saw other guests while we were inside. They did an outstanding job with timing people and it was like we were alone in there. It really helps make it creepier! Pro tip: look around! There are places where there's actually some really cool decor above and around you.
You will have a photo taken before you go in, with an option to buy at the end. The photo price is reasonable... we paid $15 for three 5x7 prints and digital downloads of both shots. The backdrop has been the same the past 3 years, but I don't mind because it's pretty gruesome!
I recommend adding on the dark maze as it's a nice little mini adventure after the main event, although I do wish it was darker (especially at the beginning because it gives away what's waiting for you in the dark). We laughed so hard in there this year when we all got stuck in a corner and couldn't figure out which way to go!
I'd love to see the merch stand have good quality stickers. I purchased one last year, but it was really cheaply made and only lasted a couple months on the inside of my Jeep tailgate, completely sheltered from the weather.
I do not recommend the 5-minute escape room. The gal working there said her and her friend couldn't figure it out, and she hadn't seen anyone solve it yet. We never got past the first step. I think the difficulty is just too high for 5 minutes. (I've done multiple escape rooms and have solved about half, so I'm not just cranky because I lost.) I did one outside a different haunted house last year and we didn't escape but the difficulty felt more reasonable and we did get through a few steps. It's only $5 a person, so I might try it again next year if they have a different one (we did the cat one... they had a second one, but we didn't have enough people for it).
Overall a great experience. I highly recommend a visit!
