If you’re in the area and looking for some live music, this bar might be worth checking out. But don’t expect to find delicious cocktails or decent bar food here. It was also really tough to get the bartender’s attention, even though we were sitting right at the bar. Oh, and by the way, the bar charges an extra 10% coverage charge during the night when there’s a performance. Since we had just been to a dueling piano brunch in NYC a week before, we were a bit disappointed with the quality. It was pretty good for Georgetown standards (since it’s a college town, after all), but it was no match for the pros in Manhattan.

Google
I recently visited this bar for the first time, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. To start, they add an entertainment fee, which I understand, but also automatically include a 20% gratuity when you order a drink—something I found unnecessary and unexpected. The bartender was unprofessional, rude, and messy. While pouring wine into my glass, he spilled some on my phone and on the bar without offering an apology or cleaning it up. He immediately assisted the next customer and ignored my request. Honestly, I believe this was the worst bartender I've encountered. He did not deserve a 20% gratuity. Additionally, if you request a song and send the payment via Venmo, the chances of it actually being played are slim. We were there for nearly three hours, and none of our song requests were fulfilled. If you're looking for a piano bar experience, I would recommend trying a different one. This place did not meet expectations.

Google
If you want to sing and drink you are gonna love this place... The food is not good at all, we ordered some wings, and they tasted like old oil, and lack of flavor, only the French fries were ok... I don't drink alcohol, but they have o'duls's my favorite non alcoholic drink

Google
I don’t get the negative reviews, everyone was super friendly, servers picking up stuff from our table promptly, and nachos were good enough for a go-along-with-drinks snack. Both the pianists were on fire all night, the crowd was fun, and the drinks were good. I would recommend coming a little early if you want a table but you’ll want to stand around the piano anyway! We were also able to Venmo for our song requests and they sang them just 3 songs later! Will definitely be back!

DO NOT GO HERE! Took my girlfriend here and we go down the stairs to use the restroom and an older man who visibly could not walk straight, was wobbling, smelled like alcohol and heavily intoxicated was walking out out the bathroom and asks for my ID. his shirt was barely on and did not identify himself as a “bouncer”. I thought it was a drunk client who was impersonating a bouncer so I did not give him my id. As I’m walking into the bathroom he reaches for my collar and pulls it back, hitting my girlfriend in the process. Another male comes out and says give him your id or I’ll “end you”. I was going to give him my ID but my girlfriend refused to give them any service and ended up leaving. Is this the way they treat their clients? They have absolutely no respect for their clients and have no respect for themselves for being absolutely wasted while on the clock. DO NOT GO HERE!

Google
Stopped in for a friend’s birthday party and disappointed is a light way to put it. There was supposed to be live piano karaoke, yet we were turned away when we tried to go up and sing a song — the pianist said he’d “try to get to our request” even though we were the only folks seemingly in the entire 90 mins we were there that put one in. The drinks at the bar were not half bad. They had creative names. The “food” was the worst part of it all though. I’ll let the photo speak for itself, but the $13 chicken “tenders” left a lot to be desired. I hoped for a lot, and still hope they improve on these shortcomings.

Google
That was so fun for saturday , when two pianists were played together and after 2 - 3 songs they asked people to chose their songs and in a very proffessional way , they got tips on venmo and got the order on their Ipads in front of them It was became crazy at 10 til 12 and was so fun. I got Irish coffee then got Nachos which both were so delicious.

Google
This place was okay. We had the charcuterie board and the spinach and artichoke dip. Board was okay for $20. Brie was in Philadelphia cream cheese style container. Dip was good. Not a normal piano bar. Same music over and over.

Yelp
Ambiance is fun and lively. However, we went right when the place opened on a weekend and for some reason the drinks were super inconsistent. My friends and I ordered the same drinks but the sugar rim was sloppy and the drinks varied in volume, strength, and color throughout the night. Food is mediocre at best and may take a while. The "pizza" was on the thinnest crust ever, it resembled a tortilla. Fine to hold you over but don't expect anything crazy. Also, don't know how they choose songs but we paid and never got ours chosen and was overlooked completely. Maybe you just have to pay more $$$ each time but that just seems tailored to those who can drop more money?

Yelp
The artists tried their best but they played only based on requests and tips. It felt they just dragged it on and took the energy out of the room. Would recommend they play more songs to bring the vibes back and get people to sing along. Expected better from a dueling piano bar.

Yelp
Stopped by this bar on a Friday evening. While it was busy, it was not over crowded. Live music at night and nice staff.
google avatar

Yeika L.

Yelp
The singing was okay and the employees were nice but, the drinks were a bit high for how mediocre they were.
google avatar

Bradley L.

Yelp
Came here for drinks after a dinner date. Sat close to the entrance at the bar. Our bartender was busy but got to us fairly quickly and made sure we were good throughout the night. Got a little loud for myself with the live music and crowd but definitely not a problem given it was a Friday evening.
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Came in before dueling pianos. We love live music and was super excited to listen along while sipping on something fancy. But NOPE. It was to d*** loud to hear the piano! All we COULD hear was the shattering squeals of college students screaming and yelling. It was so unpleasant that we sat for less than 10 minutes and headed out the door. This place could use a renovation and some color. Once it gets some pizzaz back, I can see the audience change a bit. We've been to dueling pianos in Nevada, New York and Tennessee. This one didn't even come close to what we experienced at those establishments. Would I give it a chance to come back late at night when the audience is even more obnoxious to watch the duel? No.

Yelp
Small little bar located off of M street. I came by here with a friend to grab a quick bite on a Sunday. We arrived during opening so no one was on the piano and the place was pretty empty. Bar service was timely and efficient. Drinks specials were as expected. The food we ordered was okay, enough to have to snack on but the quality was average at best. Overall, I think it picks up and has a better environment at night, but the food was below average and the setting did not stand out given the other options in Georgetown.
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
Mediocre bar. Probably rates bottom of the piano bars I've seen. Requests for music were way too expensive to get to your song, and selection was difficult to sort through. Food was average and drinks were just ok.

Maximilian G.

Yelp
The bartender was using his HANDS to scoop ice into mixed drinks. He was not wearing gloves, and was using his hands to touch credit cards. I approached the manager to inform him about this concern, and his response was, "I'll talk to him but there's nothing I'm going to do about it right now." This place is absolutely disgusting and I highly recommend avoiding it.
google avatar

Nadia S.

Yelp
Super cute place, came for the live music obviously. Didn't get anything to eat or drink but the pianist was great with the crowd and had a great time.
google avatar

Charles I.

Yelp
The food was average, the service was sometimes hard to reach, and the ambience stale and uncomfortable

Yelp
One of my favorite local spots in Georgetown. It's not flashy but they have great music, reasonably priced drinks, and friendly bartenders. My girlfriend and I love to come here after work for a drink and to listen to good music on the week nights. Or I'll come with a group of friends on the weekends to dance and hear the dueling pianos.

Trey H.

Yelp
Good music, friendly staff, drinks that'll do the job. The main thing I want to share, though, is that I left my sportscoat and sunglasses in the bar, and since I had to fly out early the next morning, the staff took the time and effort to MAIL them back to me. That's pretty cool, especially these days.
google avatar

Solo T.

Yelp
Food and drinks was overall decent. Enjoyed the live pianist. Service was good. The night my gal friend and I came here the environment was just okay.

Eric L.

Yelp
Terrible bouncer. Decided to take my business elsewhere. Bar deserves 0 stars. On March 2, 2024 around 9:30pm bouncer refused to my friend in because her legal ID is from the Dominican Republic. Bouncer was inhospitable, abrasive and rude from the start. His behavior felt racially motivated. After my friend provided a passport, he allowed us in but immediately kicked us out because we commented on how unusual this was. He allowed the line to build up over this petty issue. Would not recommend this place and will not be returning anytime soon. If you do come, make sure to bring a birth certificate because you'll need it!
google avatar

Joseph K.

Yelp
Mr ken is the most hospitable manager such a lively Pub lots of good vibes feels like Home.

Dave M.

Yelp
Burgers are passable if you're starving but mediocre at best. Fries have little flavor. Far inferior to numerous options nearby.
google avatar

Kathleen M.

Yelp
So fun!! Great vibes, decent drinks, great artists at the piano, great location after dinner in Georgetown. Could go with friends visiting the city to show them a good time, or is a great date night out!

Meg M.

Yelp
This place was expensive and not good. My friends and I were shocked that our waiter didn't want to wait on us. He was incredibly rude when we asked to place orders. We were also there for almost 2 hours and not one of our songs was played and the performers were mediocre at best. The sound system was not good. I'll never go back

Carson R.

Yelp
Hoosiers take your business elsewhere. Me and all my Indiana colleagues that live in DC, that are well over age, have tried to come multiple times and all of us have been denied, even on separate occasions. For some reason their machines can't read Indiana IDs. Either bring a passport and birth certificate or just don't even bother...because the bar isn't even worth the hassle to begin with.
google avatar

Hunter B.

Yelp
Older people demographic singing along with the guy playing the piano. The drinks were more on the expensive side and the vibe of the place was definitely not so much for people in their 20s. If you are looking for a nice place to hear live piano then the place is for you but otherwise maybe not.
google avatar

Charlie K.

Yelp
Terrible id system. They allow minors with fakes to enter but rejected me as a 23 year old with a real ID because their scanner doesn't work. Music is mid. Food not good and drinks over priced. Dingy, dark, and musty on the inside. Would not recommend

Alex G.

Yelp
The bouncers use a faulty machine to check IDs, and caused a hassle for my friends that are well of age and trying to get in. It's as if these bouncers can't even check an ID themselves, and are beholden to a flawed machine. Even after our troubles getting in, the vibe was pretty mid. Sound wasn't great and they didn't take my song request, even though I put a $5 bill with it. (it was A Thousand Miles). 1/5
google avatar

Krista U.

Yelp
Great music and lively crowd when we arrived but drinks are ridiculously overpriced and the bar staff was rude-very rude:(
google avatar

Janet K.

Yelp
I had a nice time at this establishment after 9 PM, they played many familiar hits and there was a lively crowd. We came solely for drinks, which were nice. However when the time came for the bill, not only was there the disclosed 7.5% added for entertainment but also an automatic 20% tip for the drinks. When drinks are $16, and when DC's mandatory wage keeps rising, I think tipping should be left to the discretion of the consumer. I've taken a star off my rating to reflect this.
google avatar

Raj P.

Yelp
Not really fair for me to give 3 stars cuz it's good for what they do. Just not good for me. It looks like a fun college kid bar. I'm not in college anymore and I'm prolly not as fun as I once was. Yep... I said 'prolly'

Yelp
When I think of Georgetown, I think of breaking the bank just to have fun, but that isn't the case here. Georgetown Piano Bar is a basement place that's surprisingly large. And they have happy hour everyday until 7:00, with $3.50-$5 drinks and 1/2 off appetizers, great deals! Live music usually starts around 7:00 too, so it makes for a good environment! What I find interesting is that whenever I come in (which is usually around 6:00), the place is mostly empty! Why don't more people come? One reason could be the food, which, while I've only had the taquitos and potato skins, is pretty underwhelming. Both seem to be lacking flavor or freshness, but they will intimately fill the holes in your stomach. I should try their wings the next time, that's always a determining factor for me. Generally though, given that the bar is round, it's great for coming in bigger groups and just sitting around there and enjoying some great drinks and music. This might be my favorite Georgetown spot!

Yelp U.

Yelp
The scene at piano bar on a Wednesday night. The line is unmanageable and the bartenders are doing nothing about it. People are being borderline trampled and crushed. Bouncers are just standing by the door allowing people in at a glacial pace. Extremely disorganized. Allowing underage kids in despite the fact that they cut the line and their IDs are fake. Unbelievable and appalling.

Yelp
Always looking for something new to do in the city, I found myself here with a group of my friends on a Friday night. Without a cover, we walked on in to the dungeon like bar area and immediately could hear the pianos going. We were confused by the small bar, as most of my friends are easily 6" and had a hard time trying to sit at these bar stools. We waited around to see if a spot would open up, and at 9pm, this place just kept getting more and more packed. If you want a big table, come a bit early, or be ready to be on the prowl for a good spot. After 45 minutes, we finally found a small table. In terms of drink prices, one Guinness beer is like 9$ which is absolutely nuts for a beer but hey, Georgetown prices, right? Food selection looked decent but only a few seats had legit waitresses to help you and the bartender was quite busy. My vodka soda was fairly strong so that was worth the price tag. The music playing was good, depending on the song. I think the guys playing the piano really kill it on some songs and a decent amount land flat- that's fine though, I'm not coming for Mozart after all. You can also dictate what song is played by giving them a tip- the higher the tip, the sooner the song gets played, supposedly.

Yelp
This place was quite the find! I'd rate this 3.5 starts -- but for this review, I'll round up to 4. A group and friends and I were looking for a Saturday happy hour spot during St. Patty's weekend. We saw that it had happy hours deals from 5-7pm (which is a rarity for Georgetown) so we decided to check it out. The bar was 100% empty when we strolled in at 6pm....weird. To be honest, it was tough to tell if the place was actually open. We wandered awkwardly to the bar and took a seat -- about 30 seconds later a bartender appeared from the back and got us going. Their specials are fantastic: half off appetizers, $3.50 rails, $2-3 beers, $3.50 wines. We loaded up on rails and apps! I had a number of whiskey gingers which were all made well. I had two orders of the 'potato wedges' which are actually big potato skins. My friends also tried the hummus and taquito apps. Overall, the food was just okay but the drinks (and their prices) were great. Slowly but surely more folk started to trickle into the bar -- the bartender was friendly and moved very quickly but the volume of people was starting to get a bit much for him. He had to serve the now full bar plus the 10 or so tables which surrounded the bar. I think he could have used some help as I heard some folks behind us at tables make comments about slow service. The environment was nice -- fairly large, dimly lit venue. Two bars, tall tables, and some booths. The pianist joined the party around 6:30 which really added something special in the vibes category. Listening to her beautiful songs elevated the feel of the place and made me feel a lot fancier even while throwing back $3.50 rails. Overall, I would come return to Georgetown Piano bar. My group had a fun time and were fortunate to find these specials!

Yelp
I'm from out of town! Just to give perspective. We stumbled upon this place while walking around Georgetown. I saw a sign that said "Piano Bar" so I pulled my group of friends down to the bar. LOCATION: It's your typical dive bar. A massive piano for dueling piano but we weren't lucky enough to be graced with the duels. There was one guy playing songs by request, he was good but could've engaged the rest of the crowd instead of that one drunk girl that kept going up to him. FOOD/DRINKS: They don't have a big selection of beers so if you're trying to keep it basic, come here! We ordered the nachos with cheese and it really tasted like this cheese was warmed up from a can. Not good. SERVICE: It's a dive bar. What do you think? Will I come back? YES but only when it's dueling pianos!

Yelp
Georgetown Piano Bar is a very simple bar on M street. We came on a Sunday night at 8pm. It was quite quiet in the beginning but getting busy as the night goes on. Pluses: * There is no cover charge. You give tips as you request a song; or just as you are pleased. * Great music. I enjoy all the songs and the music. The pianist and singer is very talented Minuses: * outdated decor * Lack of services. We basically need to walk up to the bartender to order our own drinks All in all, we enjoy our evening. I will still come back.

Yelp
Food is good. Piano players are awesome. Service was rude and couldn't wait to get me out. Loved the atmosphere, hated the service.

Todd M.

Yelp
This was the perfect venue for a family reunion activity. Music was fun and had us singing away. Service was excellent even with a packed house. May have actually found a new place for the local family to visit frequently. I look forward to my next trip to the area and another evening of fun with music.
google avatar

Kathryn T.

Yelp
This place is the best!!! You can request songs from Elton John to Lizzo to Taylor Swift, and they play it all!! Such a fun place to sing your heart out!
google avatar

Yelp
My husband thinks three stars is too harsh because we had so much fun at this piano bar, but I'll tell you why I knock it down one star: do not plan to eat dinner here. My sister-in-law had her birthday party here so a bunch of us came on a Friday around 8 PM. We should have gone for dinner somewhere else and came here later, but nonetheless, she had a table reserved so we ordered. The menu consists of a couple of appetizers, tacos, and probably six sandwiches (that only come with chips or pasta salad, no fries!). It took over an hour to get our food, which I would say was understandable if they were intense meals and we all ordered at the same time, but everyone ordered various things at different times based on when they arrived, etc. Not sure if the restaurant had to go hunt the chicken, butcher it, and bake the bread from scratch, but on no planet should it take over an hour to get a sandwich and some chips. There were two bars open, but only one bartender at each, and I think our server had a huge section, so it also took anywhere from 30-45 minutes to get a glass of wine. At one point, I just started ordering my next glass when she would bring my wine out. Our server was so nice, so I felt bad when I complained to her about the delay, and I know it probably wasn't her fault, it was probably a staffing issue, but the service was horrendous. On a positive note, I would totally come back here circa 10 PM on a Friday night because the music was good, the crowd was fun, and it was a low key evening. Just order your drinks right at the bar and come with a full stomach!

E B.

Yelp
Went for drinks on a Friday night. At 7pm they were empty. By 9:30 there was a wait for seating, so get there before 9 if you want a table. Entertainment on point; the pianist of the night knew how to work the crowd and played several well known songs like Only the Good Die Young, Bohemian Rhapsody, and of course, Wonderwall. On to the food. The Riesling was good, however the food was just ok. I don't know if it was just super loud but the server left the cheese on my tacos when I asked for no dairy. The potato wedges were hot, so I would get those. Overall you're here for the piano and alcohol first and food last, so I would get your drink fix here and go elsewhere for dinner. Good show!

Smith A.

Yelp
They have a great happy hour and the staff is friendly! Food I tried was mediocre at best, but half off made it worth it. Drinks look very interesting and the atmosphere is nice. Unique spot and not too busy at all.
google avatar

Juan L.

Yelp
Went here with friends on a Wednesday after class. I enjoyed hanging out here, but didn't expect the drinks to be so pricey. It was 10+ for a beer and $8 per vodka shot. Would love to come again when there are actual pianists here tho or for happy hours!
google avatar

Hiral D.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night around 7 pm and it was initially quiet which I thought was a perfect way to unwind after a long day but it definitely picked up as the night went on! What I really enjoyed was that this seemed to be a spot that brought people of all ages and backgrounds together. Everyone was singing and dancing together as the pianist kept up with the endless requests. The pianist was very good and friendly so I think he kept the atmosphere alive and energetic. I even sang (and boy was I terrible), but we all enjoyed our time here! The staff was very friendly and good about clearing tables so we had no choice but to keep ordering drinks. We even got three shots of Jose Cuervo on the house. Free alcohol for the grad student is free alcohol and I'll take it :).

Melinda B.

Yelp
Georgetown Piano Bar. I experienced it on a Thursday night. I went primarily for the comedy, but I could barely hear it because the bar crowd was pretty loud. There are two bars. One is the main bar, shaped in a circle with very low stools. I have never seen anything like this, so it was unique. My sister tried it out and expressed that "they aren't as uncomfortable as they look." There was only one bartender, as I am assuming this may be a slow night for the bar. The only food option I can speak on is the personal cheese pizza. Nothing extraordinary, but this a meat free option, if that matters to you. The crowd was an uneven mix between college age (Georgetown Uni) and older professionals, old profs with the lead. I enjoyed a few songs the pianist played, my favorite being a Michael Jackson pick.
google avatar

Rudy M.

Yelp
Was having a great time at this place and this knuckle head refused to serve us because he said our tips were not enough. Super ridiculous. Check my receipt. Paid the 20% that was on the ticket. The pours were weak anyway.
google avatar

Jonathan E.

Yelp
A neat little piano bar, that hops pretty well even on sleepy weeknights. We spotted a good mixture of locals and travelers. Appetizers were very tasty (that's all we ordered). Especially the wings.
google avatar

Henry S.

Yelp
This is by far the best bar I have ever had the privilege of going to. Exceptional service, fair prices, and beautiful live music. Tonight, I had the privilege of listening to Ashley, an exceptional pianist and vocalist, perform. Also, big shoutout to Jason for being an exceptional sound engineer. Also, many thanks to Darryl for making the best Moscow Mule I have ever had. He is a wonderful bartender. I will be sure to come here anytime I might want to listen to live music and enjoy a drink --
google avatar

Bobak S.

Yelp
Not bad, but doesn't quite compare to some other piano bars I've been to. It was so crowded with people that didn't really seem to be into the dueling pianos vibe, so it was hard to hear the performers and sing along, which is kinda the point of going to a piano bar! The bartenders were great, though, there's decent food, and there's no cover! I'd go again to give it another shot.
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Overall not bad. Safe comfortable place to party. The only draw back was my ole lady said her drink was weak sauce. Great place for college kids or frat boys to pick up girls that attend Georgetown
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
One of the best nights ever. We had the best time. Food was bar food, it was great for what bar food is. Wine list limited. Atmosphere was fantastic. The dueling pianos so fun. We met some of the best people ever. Highly reccomend you go and make sure you are going with an attitude to take in the atmosphere and let it happen, this place is about the experience and the people. Excellent time.

Julie S.

Yelp
We came in based on reviews and this is not the place to come before 9 am. The lady playing piano put me to sleep. The place was barely full and somehow the food took forever. We'll check out the 9 pm crowd and see. The waiter never checked on us after he served us first round of drinks - just to see if we wanted another round. Don't bother.

Yelp
Oh my gosh. Oh My Gosh. OH MY GOSH. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can I get a witness up in her! I didn't say here... I said her! BECAUSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I has gotta say this place is FANTASTIC! Let me break it down for you to understand better... I bear witness, AMEN! - The groove. - The vibe. - The people. - The PIANO MEN! SWEET CAROLINE............... I sing her name to the HEAVENS ABOVE! Sweet Caroline it is! Or Rocky Top... or Walking in Memphis. I did all that stuff. I heard it and I did it. Walking in Memphis is kind of fun, but make sure you don't get shot walking down Beale Street too late at night. Oh wait, let's get back to the point of this review. What was my point? OH! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's kind of funny because this place is so unassuming. When I think of Georgetown at night, and a piano bar -- I was afraid of running into the shit show they've got runnin' at Smith Point. You know, the supposedly Ivy League educated, salmon shorts wearin', Southern Republican types running around this joint. No, sir! Not at all! This place is diverse and has more color than salmon. Salmon is not a good color for anyone to wear. I am talking to you too Zoolander! Diverse, cool collected crowd with one purpose in mind -- to sing along to the jammin' dueling pianos and to have a few cheap drinks. Happy hour runs late here with $3 rails until 9pm. On Thursdays, happy hour runs the entire night! They offer both quality drinks and dive drinks. Depends on what you're taste is. Either way, if you want a craft cocktail beverage that is very uppy Georgetown-ish... that can be accommodated. You'll look sophisticated in your own mind, but just know you're making away like a bandit because the drink you just bought is still cheaper than $13. IF you want a rail drink to make that really ugly guy in the corner playing with his in empty drink to seem more appealing since the date you came with only wants to get in your pants anyway -- they can make that kind of drink too. At least at that point you can choose between the annoying horny date or the ugly guy in the corner. Always explore your options! Don't say I didn't warn you though. The place is not super huge, but it is not super small either. It can hold 150 comfortably both standing room and sitting. The bartenders know their stuff. They can make a good cocktail. Might I also mention the food is solid too and they offer a full extensive menu. If you get their sandwich; go for their house made seasoned chips versus the salad. You'll thank me later. Will I return? Dude, I am holding my Yelp Monthly Community HH here on the 20th. Don't be surprised if you see me sitting on the bar belting out tunes with the pianist next time around. PS -- they offer 10% off your total bill if you show them the Yelp Check-in or tag them on social media with @gtownpianobar. YELP ON... and FUC my review. Done.
