The Georgetown Winery

New menu released today! Popped in here for some flavored vinegar (tastes amazing in sparkling water). Their wines are from Texas and they have a variety. They have an air conditioned charter bus wine tasting event to Fredericksburg. See the photo for more details. Worth a visit. This square has all kinds of great shops and boutiques.

Well if you're gonna drive 169 miles to catch up w pals it might as well be to Georgetown winery 🍷 🥳 Comfy, relaxed, service was awesome 👌 We hung out for 3 hrs (cuz we had a lot to catch up on) our servers never seemed to mind Had flights if everything -liked it all Cheese n meat board Amaretto and cherries chocolates 😋 How do you know we were happy? Cuz we all joined the wine club! Now were making it our intentional once a qtr catch up soiree Best 340 round trip miles in a day spent EVER 🎉

We had a small family tasting yesterday and peachy Pat and his lovely wife served us up. My favorite was the non oak Chardonnay and Temprenillo (sp?) Others in our group liked the 3 Legged bottle, lol. Delicous!

Did the flight with Dry Rose, Vino Rosso, Cowboy Red, and Funky Monkey. Service was delightful. We also had the cheese and crackers, and they were yummy. I would recommend.

Great atmosphere and always welcoming on the Georgetown Square. Wines are great and you can visit anytime to just unwind from a long week. Love the live music on the weekends and cheese trays and dips! Checkout their retail olives oil, honey etc.!

Fun little locally owned winery. Great place to socialize and try different wines. Amazing and helpful staff. Definitely a fan!

Reasonably priced. Four tastings of your choice for $15.00 - $18.00 with the souvenir glass. I'm a fan of reds where's my husband likes them all. The decor is cute without being cutesy. Live music on our Sunday afternoon is always a welcome bonus! We will be back to try more of their menu selections very soon.

What a cute shop! We stopped by on a Saturday evening because there was live music and wine tastings! Also knew that we'd have to be seated to do one, so I wasn't too worried about having to find a place to sit. Service was friendly, but if your expecting a guide to tell you all about the wines, tannins, etc this is not the place. More of a relaxed setting that lets you decide and do as you please.

THIS. IS. MY. FAVORITE PLACE. ON THE SQUARE. So for whatever this is worth, I am not a wine-o , however, their blackberry wine is soooooo good. I'm apart of their wine club and it totally pays for itself. I think it's like $60/year(call for exact $$). You get 4 free glasses and 2 free bottles per quarter, and a certain percentage off on bottles and glasses (15-20% maybe?). You also get a cute free GT Winery wine glass !!!! Everyone there is super knowledgeable and kind! They also have a spring tour bus coming up! How fun!!!! They have snacks if you stay, and live music on weekends

I've been a member since moving to Georgetown and love it. The wine is great and the staff are really lovely! Great place to visit on the square, have a seat and hang out or get some wine to go in the square. I highly recommend the tannat!

Great little shop on the Georgetown Square. They offer wines that you can purchase and take a plastic glass of and walk around the square and shop. The women working at the counter were all smiles and had great recommendations. They have kitschy gift shop gifts, local goods, and some snacks you can purchase. There are a few café tables inside and some chairs outside to enjoy your purchase. The wine was just fine, more light and very sweet, but the experience and service at this laid back tasting made it a worthy stop. A must stop when experiencing the square to enhance your time!

10/19/2023 Having another Great Time at Georgetown Winery. Been members for several years now. It's definitely worth being a member. Great VALUE compared to other local wineries. The 2 Lori's are wonderful and truly enjoy serving wonderful wines to the Georgetown community. Always warm and inviting - I love the fact there's no internet. Now you can visit with folks without distraction. Live music is a plus, but can be a bit loud.

11/6/2021 Not sure why this just posted from 2021? Beautiful Saturday to be out walking the Square. Excellent wines as always. Membership is a real bargain !! Really SUPRISE ! ( well for us at least ) They've remodeled and the place looks AMAZING !!! Clean crisp lines , inviting colors. They greatly increased their seating capacity, so now you can sit and enjoy good company and a glass of wine. Someone did a lot of planing to better utilize the space. Drop in for a glass of wine in the new calming atmosphere! Wife Loves the Raspberry port with chocolate bits.

I had stopped and had wine testing. The staff were all friendly. I had 4 different wines, 2 red and 2 white recommended by staffs. All of them were really good. It's a small cozy place for a good wine and chat.

First time here on a Saturday during Market Days. I love this place and look forward to becoming a member when I move to Georgetown this summer! Super friendly staff! My friend and I were greeted promptly and given an overview of the wines for our flight-sampler. We scored a small table. This was a huge win as there are limited seats, I believe up to 25 seats. The staff checked in on us as we tasted our way thru the wines. When we finished tasting, we bought a glass of our fave wine and continued to walk through market days on the square. Anywho, if your walking the Georgetown Square, stop in for a tasting and or a glass or 2. Cheers.

Absolutely amazing! Live music and service was incredible. They didn't pressure you to join their wine club but they were very informative about it and answered any and all questions. They let us try some sips of wines and then we did a tasting. Some patrons inside recommended their Holiday Special- Cranberry Wine... I left with a bottle it was so amazing! Overall great experience and I will be back for sure!

Rude staff, terrible wine and after reading other 1 star reviews where the owner argues with people stating facts, I can see why they can't average a measly 4 stars. Maybe the owner should hire a manager who isn't a hot head and can train the staff to be friendly and outgoing so they can make a sale. You don't stand behind employees who repeatedly get comments about being unfriendly. You fix the problem with training or better hiring. At the end of the day the wine sucks, so avoid this place if you don't like toilet water in a bottle.

My sister came to visit so we were on a little adventure. She wanted a souvenir so we stopped into some of the shops downtown. We landed in this wine room and ended up sitting for a wine flight, good conversation, and lots of laughs. While we didn't get a wine membership we did buy 2 bottles and cigars for Dad. The staff was lovely and their COVID practices made us feel safe.

Nice chilled laidback spot for a spot or two to wine tasting. Room and tables to seat 1 at the bar to larger groups in the back. Lots of fun wine related plaques, signs, wine toppers, shelves full of bottles and every imaginable gift item for wine lovers. Nice indoor garden feel from the string lights lining above your head. Very rustic and cozy feel with all of the wood from wall to wall shelves to tables and chairs and floors. They serve wine in plastic cups. In the back there are olive oils to try out.

The wife and I visited Georgetown Winery for our second tasting of the day on the square. After a more upscale experience in a different tasting room on the square, it was pleasant to ease into this more relaxed space. We were promptly greeted by the hostess, who became our server, and perused the menu of wines. $10 each for a sampling of 4 wines. Nice price, and fitting to the setting which would have been appropriate for beer as well. Neither of us remembers which wines we ordered, except for my two port samplings, but neither of us was overly impressed either. My ports were good, if extremely sweet and fruity, and the wife liked 2 of hers. She was disappointed in her first choice, which was the most expensive wine on the menu as priced by the bottle. We didn't buy a bottle, nor would we return if we ever visit Georgetown again, but the ambience and carefree environment did add to an overall relaxing day on the square.

I love the ambience. Had a glass of cabernet Sauvignon and walked around. The shop is quaint and the service outstanding. In addition to tasty wines, they sell fabulous trinkets. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard! I took photos of the towels and signs that made me laugh. Check them out. BTW, I'll be back.

We often stop here for a glass or 2 of wine. The people here are always welcoming and kind. The wine selection and good and prices are reasonable. If your hungry they don't have a full menu but they do at least sell finger food snack items. They also sell great local spices, maple syrup, olive oil, and other great items. Great stop at Georgetown square!!

Fun place to stop in, grab a glass, and walk around the square. The lady we spoke to said the owner is going to add more seating in the future. You can do the wine tasting but have to be seated. I had a red blend and my husband had cranberry. They both were sweet and light, which is just what we were in the mood for. I didn't want to carry bottles around the square but next time I'll take a few home.

I left Grape Creek and now I come here. They are always friendly, and their wine is very unique. Forget California and embrace Texas here! Their holiday cranberry wine was a huge hit with family, and there are so many wonderful wines. You will love it here.

Laurie and Heather were wonderful today! Even in quarantine, they managed to provide a wonderful (socially distanced) experience. We are wine club members and LOVE this place ($50 per quarter gets you 2 tastings, 6 full glasses, and 2 whole bottles of wine). The perfect spot to enjoy some quality wine and some quality time with friends and family. We always bring cards or a board game and have a blast.

we've loved this winery since the day we stepped foot inside. the owners and staff are amazing and we've even had the pleasure of helping harvest the grapes in the summertime. located in quaint yet bustling downtown Georgetown, it's a great small town spot to enjoy a tasting or grab a wine to go and walk the square. the dessert wines have impressed every friend and family member we've introduced them to.

Quaint tasting room right on Georgetown's Town Square. Really friendly staff and affordable wines and other miscellaneous related items. Not as typically over-priced in a boutique type setting. All wines are made from Texas grapes; harvested throughout the state. No concentrates. Tastings are $10 for 4, including 1 desert (their ports) wine if you'd like. Take the souvenir glass with you for an extra $2. [Note: Someone else mentioned something about $5 tastings at a certain time; they no longer have a $5 tasting] GW had the standard selections of sweet, dry, red, white. The Chardonnays (both oaked and "un-oaked") were OK. The Sangiovese had a nice smooth finish. Pretty much what you would expect for Texas wines - which have improved so much in the last 5 years. I like fine wines BUT, I could not resist sampling a few of the "Fruit" wines they offered. How could I not try Funky Monkey (banana and pineapple favors), Jalapeno Wine (just how it sounds with funky green color), and the Sweet Raspberry Chipotle (aka Schitz & Giggles; definitely taste the raspberry with a hint of smokiness). Lastly, the Portejas tawny port. If you like ports you might want to give this one a try. And for only $15 a bottle (OMGosh!) I had to take one home! Cheers!

This is the perfect meet up spot with your girlfriends. That's not to say that I don't see plenty of men in here, too. It's a great spot for day drinking. Any day of the week. And I know from experience. I don't bother doing the tastings here - I know exactly what I like. Their unoaked chardonnay is butter and smooth. After that I move over to their pinot noir - which isn't too sweet but not so dry that I need to carry in my own water bottle. I do not drink fruit wines but my sweet lil granny does and she swears by the pomegranate and blueberry. You can buy gifts and chochskies here. I always like to pick up a few bottles of wine before I had home to visit family. Their wine club is probably the best you can be apart of in terms of benefits. I would really like if they would provide bread so that we can try the olive oils. Probably smart that they don't do that or else all of us winos would use that as food. :)

I really love this wine!!! I have not had bad service or bad wine there. My personal favorite is 3-legged willie but everything is great. They have a wide selection of products that are wonderful!!

This review is for the tasting room in Georgetown Square. The location closes at 6 and wine tastings end at 5:30. The room is quaint with many cork decorations and tables made from wine barrels. There is a good selections of whites as well as reds. My favorite was the peach wine. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Well my accidental tourist day continues and I ended up here, alcohol y'all! Never knew anything about Georgetown except that it was an annoying mile marker on Interstate Hell-35 indicating after driving north for an hour you have gone nowhere. Low and behold there is actually an ancient town square buried in there somewhere. So what else to do but gravitate like a bee to flower and find the alcohol. It's here and it's called wine. The place is filled full on a steamy June Saturday afternoon. Saddle up to the bar and start in on the tasting. I was in a red mood and took 4 tastes. The chambourcin was an interesting new grape for me and it was deeply dark in color yet light on the tannins. It was nice but I like tannin and the Tempranillo delivered on all counts. It was a nice pit stop and I recommend it if you accidentally end up touring the square of Georgetown.

In a place whete they "know" about wine, they want to serve you different wines in the same glass!!! I askes for another one and they said, I'll rinse it and pretended to serve me wine with water left in the glass. Will never go back !

Stopped in for a second visit during a crowded weekend event, and thoroughly enjoyed both the service and our wine-tasting. My partner liked two of the reds so much she bought a bottle of each. This is a long narrow shop that has lots of knick-knack items displayed so we did not move around much, but it was fun to read all the funny quotes on the signs and towels and glasses, etc. The folks at the bar were helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed this visit much more than our first.

Great wine. Tastings for $10 per person. Loved ALL the amazing wines. We tried Peach (our favorite), Sangria, Pomegranate, Cranberry, Merlot, Banana/Pineapple (not a fan) and our other favorite Chocolate Raspberry...That was sooo good...Tasted JUST like chocolate AND raspberry...Wish it wasn't $30 a bottle! But I can see why...Took a bottle of Peach home. Georgetown Winery is a cute little homey place and we sat out front in the little table area. Everyone was really nice there. Wish it had a nice outdoor patio area but the great wines made up for it :)

The cheese and meat tray is enough for three people and it's only $12. The samples are free if you are buying wine, but $10 for the wine tasting. The service is excellent.

I have been a member of the Winery for years. The people that work there, especially Lori and Gary, are great and make you feel welcomed. Their wine selection is amazing and their snack items are just right.

Awesome wines, good prices and great service! They even offer appetizers. Will be back!

I highly recommend a visit to Georgetown winery. We've been members now for a couple of years and we love it! The wine is delicious and the staff are very friendly and attentive! It's our go to for a fun day Sunday (or any time)! Nice place to relax with a glass of wine and visit with family/friends or make new friends! Please stop by Georgetown Winery on the square ... you won't be disappointed! Great snacks, fun memorabilia/gifts available for purchase and ohhhh yeahhhh ... the wine is amazing!

We are club members, and we love going to get our wines. The peach wine is amazing. They also have a lot of very good reds. We love all the little knickknacks in the store also.

The best winery for friends. My friends and I have only been members of this winery for about a year, but this is honestly one of our favorite locations to consistently come and visit when we're all together. They have sweeter drinks and wineritas for people who aren't fond of dry wines and their wine club memberships are literally built to be shared. There is table seating inside where you can sit for hours and catch up. Laurie and Heather in particular are so sweet with their service and their recommendations. I can't think of where else I would rather spend my weekend.

Stopped into Georgetown Winery today after moving into the area. After deciding to share two tastings to sample eight different wines we decided to stop after the first flight was over. The wine was average, left a lot of residue and the nose was un-inviting. The staff also lacked knowledge when asked about how the wine was made. Went across the street to Grape Creek and had a great experience where we joined their wine club. Skip this place and go straight to Grape Creek.

If I could give a zero star, I would. Went in here today around noon with my 4 year-old son to check out the various wines and wine accessories. Saw some cute stuff in the window, and so far had great customer service on the square, and I thought," This looks like a friendly place to shop as well". Well, looks can be deceiving. I was walked in, no acknowledgement I came through the door. Ok, whatever, they were helping customers, and you can't get everyone. Started looking at a bottle of wine for my husband who had to work on Fourth of July ( thought the wine would lessen the pain) and also was about to buy some tea towels and a wine glass holder for our kitchen. As I was looking, my son had to go to the bathroom (as with most young kids, this was an emergency). Went towards the back of the store to find a restroom for him to use, but got stopped by some rude,blond, teenage girl stuffing her face at one of the back tables. In her most monotone voice possible and while stuffing a fry in face, she said, "You can find public bathrooms by the visitors center," which was about 2-3 blocks away and had no air conditioning in the hot July heat. So ran to those bathrooms before I had to deal with a major problem. Went back to this place to purchase the items I was interested in, but as I was doing one more run through of the store to make sure I didn't miss any items to buy, I heard a toilet flush, and low and behold, there was a bathroom for customers. To say I was infuriated, would be an understatement. Look, I get not wanting people to just use your store for a bathroom break (I hated that too, when I worked retail and food industry jobs), but I was actually looking and going to buy a few items. But since no one acknowledged me walking in, saw me shopping, and lacked the customer service ability to just ask questions or if I needed help, then I chose to not buy anything (sorry hubby). Your staff (at least the rude blonde teenager) lacks compassion for people with kids, customer service skills, and the ability to just be good humans. I am sure your wine might be good, but my family/friends and I will never know, as we will never step foot in your establishment again. Such a shame that my certified sommelier friends won't be trying your wine, and now I guess Amazon and Etsy will be getting my money for the tea towels and wine glass holders instead. Update: Dan, the owner, reached out to me today to apologize for his employee's rudeness and for her not relaying that their bathroom was having some issues that day. He did try to make it right, and did tell me that he starting to re-coach some of his employees on how to handle such situations and better customer service. I did also warn him that there are some people who are trolling those of us who have sent in negative reviews, and he may want to get to the bottom of it, because it does not look good for his business when this happens. Anyway, I might change my stars when I go back to Georgetown in December. To be continued ...

My favorite winery! I feel like family every time I walk in the door. Chelsea and Lori give the absolute best service, and I love bringing friends in to try their wine. Chelsea and Lori can describe every wine and recommend tastings, glass, or a bottle. Always a fun time at Georgetown Winery! Thank you for making my family, friends, and me feel so special.

This is hands down the best winery in Texas. From the amazing staff to the wonderful owners, they are top notch when it comes to customer service, wine knowledge and selection. One of the things we love about Georgetown Texas. Georgetown Winery. Thanks for all the fun times.

A cute tasting room and retail store located in the heart of beautiful historic Georgetown square. This place was packed on Saturday when my friend and I stumbled across this place, and they even had a live musician. This place is located in a intimate and charming small narrow area, which is amazingly full off clever and unique wine accessories and gifts. They also had fresh balsamic and olive oil to sample and taste. Georgetown Winery is family run and they have a 3-5 acre vineyard located in Rockdale, Texas. They source grapes from Texas and California for their wines. The family grape growing tradition actually dates back to when their ancestors arrived in Texas in the late 1800's from Czechoslovakia. You can do a tasting, or purchase wine by the glass or bottle. They have a large menu of wines to select from for the tasting, which can be a bit overwhelming. They have a vast selection of white's, red's, fruit infused wines, and dessert port style wines. The red's were definitely their strongest point, but I found from the one's I tasted that they were a bit too full of flavor, and the oak overpowered the grapes in the end. The Pinot Noir was definitely the stand out for me here. The chocolate cherry port was good, but just a bit too syrupy thick sweet (and I am a huge lover of port style drinks). The prices are definitely reasonable when compared to other Texas wineries, mostly in the $16-18 range. The staff were very friendly, and even provided free small water bottles during the tasting. They also have a few small snack items to purchase to enjoy with your wine. I can definitely see myself coming back here to pick up some unique wine related gifts as presents for friends who have everything in the future.

My sister's and i take a sister's weekend along with two of our sister in laws every year. This year, we ended up in Georgetown at the Square after or original plans fell through. And i am glad they did. We finished our day the at the winery, great place to end. 4 of us did the wine tasting. We had so much fun with the tasting and had some great laughs. Not only do they have wine, but they also have great items for sale. The employees were really nice as well. We had a great time; built memories for a lifetime. Would definitely go again.

The wine was average. Prices are reasonable. However the two ladies attending the store today were unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable. I took two guests from out of town and these ladies were just staring at us and reluctantly served us. Unfortunate for the business owner as the place has promise. But a destination that is all about the experience needs to work on all facets of that.

Georgetown Winery ain't fancy, but it sure is a pleasant and comfortable place to enjoy surprisingly-good local wine. Nestled into a small slot on the historic Georgetown square, the location is nice for those of us in the great northern hinterlands. Prices are extremely reasonable, particularly compared to Grape Creek Winery, the fancier and much costlier direct competition across the square. I always skip the gimmicky sweet fruited wines in favor of traditional dry red styles, and those are very solid at Georgetown Winery. Cheese plates are generous and tasty. My only complaints: early closing hours. This is a happy hour spot that is disappointingly not open for nighttime Dionysian pursuits. I guess it is very Georgetown to make sure your clientele is home in time to catch Matlock and the 9 o'clock news. Also, seating is limited and the interior decor does feature a rustic giftshop. If you don't mind a Cracker Barrel meets Tuscany vibe, then Georgetown Winery will get the job done with gusto.

Went here on day trip on our way to Austin. Stopped into the winery and the two ladies were not helpful. We had to ask all the questions about the winery and their response was short and curt. We we the only people in the winery and yet they felt as if it was an inconvenience to talk to us. Will not return. Will continue to visit the other Georgetown in South Carolina where people are more welcoming to all.

Nice place to take a break and try some local wines. We have stopped in many times while visiting my parents in nearby Sun City. They are wine club members and are very fond of most of their wines. Service has always been friendly and personalized with each employee trying to tailor the tasting/suggestions to the tastes of the guests. They have a wide selection of fruit flavored/infused wines that I personally don't care for, but they are very popular with others. Their capitol red is a good red blend table wine and the viognier is a good semi-dry white perfect for a hot day. Others in our group enjoyed the cranberry wine as well of some of the sweet dessert wines.

Update to my earlier update..... I finally managed to make use of the voucher the owner provided me. My husband and I took my mother here, and got a table for the three of us to sit at while enjoying a wine tasting. We sampled 4 different wines, along with some port, while sharing a meet & cheese tray. The night we went, they had a musician on a sax set up in the corner doing live music. I must say, this was a complete 180 from our previous visit, and we were quite impressed. It was a nice atmosphere, and we definitely became fans of this place. We also learned that they have a sister location out in Liberty Hill that does tours too, so that is on our 'to-do' list now. Due to the tasting, we snagged a bottle of peach wine that we really liked. Thank you Georgetown Winery for making amends, and being a business that shows it does care about the impression folks get when visiting here. Highly recommended.

I went there after eating pizza with a to go cup of beer, and was looking to buy two adorable wineglasses, but before I could make my purchase I was kicked out for having a cup of beer....meanwhile people were meandering in the store with glasses of wine. So at the end of the day they my money then and forever. Update: did not know that, however your reply was extremely rude. 1 star stands.

This winery is awesome! Friendly ladies, very personable, you feel like they're your friend and they are! Prices are more than reasonable and membership even better! They observe the rules over and beyond! Owners are great! The music is wonderful!

Not happy! I came with a big group in f women to talk about a book. All of us are buying wine. The person working here said that we couldn't sit together or move chairs! What?!!! So now I'm sitting here with my four lovely friends- while my other eight friends are sitting at another table. Mmm. Not very accommodating.
