Atlanta Bars Are Offering Narcan and Overdose Prevention Training Amid the Opioid Crisis in Georgia | Eater Atlanta

"As a citywide harm-reduction resource, the Georgia Harm Reduction Coalition sent Dr. Febres-Cordero to train bar staff in practical, nonjudgmental overdose response and offers overdose rescue kits at its Bennett, Parker, Cooper, and Lyla Centers; GHRC also provides counseling, medication-assisted treatment, a free and confidential syringe-exchange program, harm-reduction training in person/online/by phone, and volunteer opportunities." - Sarra Sedghi

I sat there for damn near 3 hours and was never seen they discuss patient personal information out in the open and the person doing the testing has a nasty attitude

When I first went there all three ladies were genuinely welcoming and kind with beautiful smiles on their face plus humor. Hats off to Nurse Mrs.Cecilia whom took care of me with so much laughter. A great place with enough resources for anyone that needs it.

My first time here and it was a pleasant experience. I didn’t know that they offer so many services for free! Front desk was kind, the nurse that assisted me was knowledgeable, and I felt well taken care of. Best part is, I was in and out. Great job ladies!

My 1st appointment was at the Joseph E. Boone location and then I transferred to the Stone mountain location. I had some hesitancy initially because I had several unprofessional phone encounters prior to coming out for the 1st time. It took me several months before I actually went because I was honestly looking for alternatives (even if I had to pay out of pocket) due to the lack of phone etiquette the rep(s) displayed. However, when I finally did go out I was glad I did. It was obvious they had new people because everyone from front desk to the doctor was overall professional. After my initial appointment I transferred to the new Stone mountain location and they are PHENEMONAL! The young lady that works the desk to Ms. Avery the P.A. They're always warm, welcoming, and professional. They offer several much needed services from pap smears, to job/resume assistance. I took advantage of the pap smear /breast exam and I'm glad I did! I have nothing bad to say. Atlanta Harm Reduction literally lives up to its name. I'm proud of the city for offering this much needed stability to its residents.

Amazing group of volunteers and kind people. They helped a friend of mine, get prep to protect him, and literally save his life when no one else would follow through. That friend is the best person I know and the hardest worker and the kindest soul so yes, what they do matters greatly. I am meeting with one of the people of the organization this Thursday to see how I can help. I do wish they would mail my friends prep to him up in Norcross because he has no car and cannot drive 45 minutes to get it unless somebody can take him plus he has to takeoff work to do it. Can someone please please do that for him?

Very rude! “Harm reduction”? “HealthCARE”? I got there at 3:05pm after jumping through hoops to get off work early to be there well before closing time of 4:00pm. I was told that I wouldn’t be seen because they take their last at 3:00. Further, when I politely asked to speak to the provider, the provider shouted from the back “I’m the one who said we’re closed.” I also work in healthcare and this is NOT what healthCARE should look like. Now I’ll have to wait until Wednesday when I’m off. Five minutes?! I’m glad that I didn’t send the donation that I intended to. My money will be better in someone else’s hands!

Incase and you didn’t know they stop talking walk ins a whole hire before they close. Even if u call and they tell you that you got until 4:30pm when u get there the lady in there gonna say other wise. So don’t waste you time and either go somewhere else or call before hand.

Got in town today and came across then on the web. I saw they had some sort of shindig going on today so I decided I'd go on over and check them out. Called ahead as the hours I their site showed it would winde down half am hour before I got there. Asked if they were totally set on they time and let them know how far away I was, they said keep right on coming. Everyone there were very nice, they made sure to load me down with sufficient supplies to keep a party of 10 supplied for the day with everything they'll need. All your party guests will have to do is bring their flavor of choice. The Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition has been taken the worries out of planning your party by bringing all these supplies together in one place for all your convenience. Just get your favorite flavor(or tell your friends top bring theirs) and bring home the party pack size consistent with the plans you and/or you're friends have, and everything is done. These Atlanta Gals have been helping with area residents party supply need a for over two decades and from what I saw today I couldn't expect any better. I'm glad I was able to visit sigh a lovely and well run place and hope their continue without problem!
