Anaheim’s Soul Food Georgia’s Debuts at Long Beach Exchange | Eater LA

"Opened in 2014 by owner Gretchen Shoemaker in the Anaheim Packing District, this family-owned soul food restaurant built a loyal following and is expanding with a second location planned for early 2019 at the Long Beach Exchange (LBX) in North Long Beach. The menu celebrates traditional soul food with New Orleans influences—standout dishes include po’ boys, red beans and rice, and jambalaya—and the original Orange County location reportedly generates about $2 million in annual revenue. The addition is regarded as a smart fit within LBX’s curated mix of diverse eateries." - Mona Holmes

My daughter and I shared the chicken and waffle, chicken breast. We also shared a side of the potato salad. I'll start with service. Service was amazing, everyone working was so sweet and helpful. Portions were big, enough for us to share. Food was so good, my daughter loves the chicken breast on the waffle so much. She said it's her favorite and the breading is amazing and seasoned well. The waffle was the best waffle I've ever had! Barely needed any syrup at all because alone it tasted so good, so thick and fluffy, and I can't wait to go back to have the same thing again. I've already told my family about it and a couple other people. I can't wait to try more of their menu items although I just loved the chicken and waffle so much! We can't wait to go back.

Google
I tried the Long Beach location because I’ve always had good food from the Anaheim restaurant. The food at this place is nowhere near as tasty as the food from the Anaheim location. I had the fried chicken (bland), greens (bland), mac and cheese (just sad), and yams (starchy). The same meal I order every time. Even a ton of hot sauce couldn’t save this meal. Soul food/southern food should have flavor! It’s telling when you don’t smell anything cooking when you walk in. It’s a shame because I really want to support Georgia’s. After reading other reviews, this seems on par for this location. I’ll stick to the Anaheim location.

Google
I ordered takeout and waited a long time for my food. When I got home, I realized there was no salsa included for the fish, which was a big part of the meal. The food itself was good, but the service was disappointing. Between the long wait, the missing item, and the fact that no compensation or solution was offered, the experience wasn’t handled well. Mistakes happen, but good service is about fixing them and in this case, that didn’t happen. Overall, the food was fine, but the service left a lot to be desired. Not a great experience.

Very tasty entrees, everything came out quickly and the corn bread was flowing. Lemon seabass was great and service was friendly.

I have been looking forward to eating here for a long time. I ordered the fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and added coleslaw for a total of $28.00. The chicken was extremely dry, the crust was overdone and lacked in flavor. I have never had mashed potatoes that won’t break apart because they were so dry and overcooked. The Mac n cheese, although dry, was delish. The coleslaw could’ve been great, but it was also very dry. On the upside with no notes: The customer service was outstanding. Overall disappointing, truthfully the only thing I ate was the mac & cheese, everything else got tossed.

Google
My trip tip was tasty although I asked for medium and it was cooked all the way the muffins were good but my sides: the Cabbage and Yams were horrible. Im conflicted about the man n cheese. The yams tasted like they came out of a can and the cabbage seemed to only have some type of chili flavoring. Not tasty at all. The Mac n cheese noodles had perfect firmness but something was lacking. My daughter said her Blackened Catfish was good as well her red beans/rice and collars.

Google
George's soul food type place with great food. Free cornbread for all that walk through the door. The kids like to eat the chicken tenders Shrimp Box. I would recommend the Shrimp Po Boy gumbo and red beans and rice a nice way to end the meal is to eat the beignets. This place has New Orleans type vibes

Google
I’m giving this place three stars because I didn’t try everything, I guess’s I will leave more room to revisit again for a fair review. The first time that I went there, I tried the fried fish thinking it would be the actual fried fish Cajun Louisiana style. Well, it tasted different, tasted like store bought brand and the restaurant took it out from the freezer and fried it. I was not impressed at all. Maybe it is just the fish, not everything else. The fish tasted…hmmm…fake meat. I can’t put my finger on it.

Yelp
I went here for brunch before my flight back home. A friend thought I would enjoy it. And I did. My friend doesn't eat out much, so if he said it was good, it was good. Lovely ambience and the patio is nice ! Great service! We ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle was perfectly crisp on the edges and soft inside. The chicken was flavored nice but maybe needed just a bit more salt . Overall, very good. I love that it's so close to the airport.

Yelp
My family and I tried Georgia's for a late lunch a week ago. We ordered at the counter and were seated on the shaded patio outside with our small dog. The small plate of cornbread was great - tender and moist and served with I think apple butter. One of our dishes, the sea bass with lemon sauce, came quickly and the seasoning was smooth and creamy while having a a nice acidity to it. That, however, is where the positive ends. The rest of our party had to wait 30 minutes for the other 2/3 of our meals to arrive. During this time, there were other staff who were clearly available (wiping windows, clearing tables, etc.), but no one came to update us on where our food was. We had to get servers' attention, after which we were informed there was a large catering order causing the holdup. Which, fine; but as a guest who's physically seated in your restaurant, why send out only one dish and say the rest was coming in a few minutes? Why, more importantly, after those "few minutes" would you not provide an estimate for the others and say bring out more cornbread? Now, they did offer us some beignets (comped), but there was no reason it should have taken half an hour to send out a tri tip sandwich and blackened chicken pasta. I get the impression Georgia's prioritizes mobile orders, but this experience definitely makes me reconsider coming again in person.

Yelp
A porter recommended this place, we have a 7 hour layover so Why Not! They wear shirts that say "Soul-Licious" and they ain't lying! Greeted right away, you order & pay and they bring to you. Peach sangria...refreshing! They give you beautiful cornbread muffin while u wait - with butter. The muffins have great texture but something was missing, they were bland. Let me tell you the rest of the meal made up for them! Fried pickles with a sauce, A+. I had catfish & perfectly seasoned grits! The tartar sauce was perfect! My granddaughter had gumbo with rice and OMG it was So AUTHENTIC! Like home! I'm taking an order to go so I can add some crab at home! They have wine & beer as well. We sat outside on their patio in a perfect spot of sunshine! The table next to me was kind enough to allow me to take pix of their food too, that's an Elite request they could not deny...LOL I overheard their convos and they each Loved everything they ordered! They did have a similar comment on the cornbread, it's not bad but definitely missing "something ". It's Sunday and they are playing Motown! Y'all get on over here to this spot! If I come back to Long Beach, Miss Georgia's is definitely on my list...! Note to owners: if the employees and customers use the same bathrooms, please REMOVE the "push mechanism " on the water. It does not stay on long enough for a proper handwashing. That could get employees in the bad habit of "quick rinse & return" which could lead to food contamination/ illness from improper hand washing. The bathroom is handicapped accessible, gender specific but there is only 1 for each gender.

Yelp
Parking is horrible. I had to drive around the entire plaza three times. I was about to give up when someone was leaving and I snagged the spot. After a long walk to the restaurant we were greeted by super friendly employees. You order at the register and find a table. 100% of the tables were filthy and not once during our entire visit did staff clean them. Several customers were complaining about it. This restaurant has excellent fried catfish. So much flavor! I loved the black eyed peas too. Collard greens didn't seem washed enough and were very gritty. I couldn't eat much of it. My wife had the fried chicken but said it was just OK. We also shared some tasty fried green tomatoes and I got a cup of their outstanding jambalaya. Besides the greens I really enjoyed my meal. I probably would not return though since the dining room was filthy which makes me wonder about the kitchen. Parking was horrible but there was a outdoor market thing happening so maybe that contributed to that.

Yelp
I love coming here to Georgia's Restaurant at the Long Beach exchange! If your into great food and have a thing for southern cooking here you are! I ordered this! Blackened chicken sandwich with fries and bacon on the sandwich! Yum! Service was good and friendly and the atmosphere is well great! Love this place every time I come here! Check this place out! Food is great!

Yelp
Been meaning to write a review for Georgia's. I've tried the catfish, collards, and jambalaya rice. The fish was prepared to order and the collards and jambalaya were fresh as well. The tastes wasn't bad. The greens were better than some I've had in soul food restaurants - not bitter. The fish was really good. The rice didn't quite do it for me though. The portion size was great! The place is located in an outdoor strip mall. There are about 15 tables and it can accommodate small groups. Staff were helpful and friendly. Overall not a bad dining experience.

Yelp
Good quality on the food ! I really enjoyed my tri tip salad it was loaded and came with a yummy piece of toast. Also when we sat the servers brought out delish cornbread. We ordered Mac and cheese for my little one. The ambiance is casual you order at the counter and sit it's perfect for fast and tasty lunch. My only reason where there could be some improvement is price ? We paid 90 for 3 adults and 1 baby to dine. Maybe that's a standard now in a lot of places but for an order at the counter I think it's a little high. Thank you!

Yelp
BIRTHDAY MONTH=BIRTHDAY COUPONS=HAPPY RODNEY $5 Birthday Month Promo for Rewards members Upon consuming my free birthday month sandwich at Ike's, and afterwards dining at Sosogu for a Signature Roll & Cocktail, Georgia's Restaurant was the next stop on the agenda. Hmmmm, I could use the $5 on a side, or dessert, perhaps. But, since I was quite satiated, I decided a nice cold Michelob Ultra would hit the spot on a hot August day. And, it did! $4.95, which made the beer absolutely free! Service was great. Georgia's was mildly busy, and I had my beer in hand quickly, which I downed in a few minutes. Thirst quenching! Georgia's provides a decent Birthday Month promo, which I avail myself of, every year. A free beer is nothing to kvetch about, and I look forward to when August rolls around, again.

Yelp
It's been a little while since I left a review so here goes! Thank you for greeting my family as soon as we walked into the establishment, feeling welcome is KEY! Mom enjoyed her Louisiana tilapia and shrimp. My fried catfish was on point, crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy on the inside. Special points for the restaurant being clean! I know things are tough for many business owners at the moment, but walking into a restaurant where dishes are all over the table is unattractive I'm excited to one day meet the owners (putting that out into the universe )

Yelp
My dad and I are brunch people. He stumbled across this gem and shared it with me . This is a black owned eatery in Long Beach with exceptional service.! The homegirls and I wanted to participate in Sunday funday, so we did just that. I got the catfish dinner paired with Mac and cheese , dirty and I got a side of shrimp . My catfish was fried to perfection- I didn't even have to tell them to fry it hard. One of my friends got fried chicken, mac and cheese and rice and beans. They gave us complimentary corn bread as well. Yummm! The owner was walking around and very helpful to her staff. They have bottomless mimosas as well. I will be coming back because there's serval things I want to try off the menu. P.S. there is free parking.

Yelp
My good friend has been telling me about this place and I finally went today for my aunt's birthday. The restaurant was cool. They had a nice variety of food options to choose from. The service was impeccable. Our waitress, Jersey was so kind, helpful, and professional and made you feel like family. She is a great asset to the restaurant. I had the catfish with greens, yams, cornbread, and a lemonade vodka alcohol drink. The food was delectable with plenty of flavor, quality ingredients, and nice size portions. The food tasted like my great-grandmother's, grandma and mom's food. Everything was made fresh to order and very hot. Note: They have brunch on weekends and daily specials.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Georgia's!! Very good souls food spot! They make all their food so fresh and good quality! Everything that I tried/ ordered was the bomb! For my entree I had the Louisiana tilapia shrimp with yams and greens as my sides!! Everything was amazing!!! The food melted in my mouth with very good flavor!! I tried the fried Shrimp, and Mac & cheese that was delightful! Also the cornbread muffins was poppin' it comes when you dine in! They have good lemonade, hurricanes, beer, and wine. The service was amazing!! Jersey was so amicable and let us know the best options to get! Very patient respectful lady. The ambiance is cute and modern. You order your food before you sit. It gets crowded so beware of that. However, good food, atmosphere, and customer service. It's plenty of parking! It's on a nice shopping center. I will definitely be back! -Marshay Dede

Yelp
Another great visit! I knew I would be back soon to try a Chicken Bucket to go! Boneless Chicken Breast, Corn Bread and two Soulful Sides! I chose coleslaw and rice/beans for the sides. I called about 20 minutes in advance and it was waiting for pick-up when I arrived. I had to wait to pick my husband up at LGB and then the drive home. I am guessing between pick up and when we sat down to eat, at least 1.5 hrs had passed. The food held very well. chicken still very crispy. Again, the chicken has a nice little kick to it. Coleslaw was very good with a nice tangy dressing. Beans and rice another great choice. Cornbread, so good! The bucket came with six very generous sized breasts. There were three of us eating and we had plenty for dinner and then lunches to go the next day! Service was great from the nice young man that took my phone order to the nice young lady that rang me up and hand me my food! It waa very busy, yet super friendly and polite! Definitely a great place to dine in or take to go! Thank you Georia's for an easynand yummy Dinner tonight!

Yelp
Not sure what all the hype is with this place. As far as authentic soul food, imo it's not an authentic experience. Had the gumbo, fried green tomatoes, Mac n cheese, friend chicken and waffles. The fried chicken and fried green tomatoes have the same batter. This is an order first than sit down so if you're looking for a full dining experience this is not it. I wouldn't go back here to eat, especially since there's many other choices in this center. However, the employees are top notch, attentive and helpful!
google avatar

Laurel T.

Yelp
Again, updating reviews isn't usually my thing. Unless they have a new menu item or I had amazing service I came here around prime dinner time and it wasn't too busy. Ordered our food (you order up front, pay up front and then they bring the food to you) we got the fried pickles, chili mac, beans and rice and their garlic fries which are amazing. Not too overpowering and very crispy. After our food was brought and everything was going smooth, a younger man kept asking if we needed anything and refilling our waters. I asked him his name so I could update this review and give him the shout out that he deserves. Ray (I told him I wouldn't forget it since Rae is my middle name) was amazing. He was really polite and friendly. But, most of all, really helpful. He had awesome energy. I hope management sees this and recognizes the great job that he does

Yelp
I love friend chicken, but that isn't why I like this place. At best, the chicken is a tier below your go-to chicken chains; however, what I do appreciate is how nice the service is, and how good the other items besides the chicken is. I wouldn't say the chicken is bad at all, in fact, it's delicious. It's just different. And if you like different, something with a grainy mouth feel, then this is the place for you. The pieces I received were juicy and cooked well. And overall, I felt right at home, eating and having a drink with friends. I highly recommend this place. The corn bread should be enough to give it an honest try.

Yelp
Talk about finger licking good! When you walk into Georgia's, there a huge menu on the wall that is clear, concise and legible. Joshua helped my husband and I by answering all of our questions and helping us place our order. What we ordered-- -Red Trolley Ale - perfect if you like the 'hoppy' flavor charge this beer provides -Elysian IPA - tride and true IPA Terry (our very attentive and helpful) brought us cornbread with in-house made butter - see pic -growing up in the South, I wanted to check out Georgia's and get me some fried catfish! No joke, their catfish is fresh, traditional in prep, cooked literally just right. Add a little squeeze lemon - MIND BLOWN! - Hubby devoured the pulled pork po'boy - juicy, full of flavor, pork shredded to perfection. Refer to photos for more thoughts!

Yelp
I just have to share my recent experience at the Georgia's at the Long Beach Exchange (LBX). Not sure if this is franchise wide? I orderd various item including their Pan Seared Sea Bass. Well the Sea Bass was not Sea Bass it was Catfish. I spoke to the manager and she assured me it was Sea Bass. Everything we ordered was outstanding as in the past but being served Catfish when you ordered Sea Bass was a disappointment. The fact that the manager stated that their supplier provided Sea Bass labeled Sea Bass and was fine serving at as such left me questioning the facts. In hindsight, I checked the prices on the menu. Their Catfish and Sea Bass offerings were priced the same! How can they do this when Sea Bass cost approximately 4-5 times more per pound than Catfish? I have attached photos of their menu and the fish we received as Sea Bass. In short, how can they sell Catfish and Sea Bass at the same price when they are on opposite sides of the price scale? There is something definitely incorrect here! Buyer beware!

Yelp
I Ordered from Georgia's via DoorDash great delivery experience! I got the smothered pork chops with rice and gravy on the side. The flavor was decent, but the portions were really small for what I expected. Pricing was fair, nothing too special. I'd be interested in trying the food in person to see if the experience is better. Overall, I'd rate my meal a 4/10. Collard greens were good, but just too salty I'm kind of bummed. I had high expectations

Yelp
against my better judgement , i tried this location one more time in hopes that i would have a better experience . unfortunately not . greens were scortched and had an awful burnt smell and taste , mac and cheese served cold . yams undercooked and stringy and the fish ... i had to pick at . wasnt offered a refund but offered more food instead . i declined .

Yelp
I highly recommend this restaurant, fantastic food, music, and such warm attentive service. I was served by Lina and Andrea and they're just the sweetest people. Helped me celebrate my friends 25th birthday and made her feel real special. Their cornbread is top tier it's an amazing texture, crispy edges, moist and delicious in the middle. The shrimp and grits were so warming and had a light kick to it that made me glow inside out. The peach cobbler was made with fresh peaches and rich with sweet flavor. Overall, I loved my experience at this place and it needs to be on your "must try" list. Thank you Georgia's, they weren't lying with their "soul delicious" motto.

Yelp
Excellent food again and again. This is the place I go probably 2-3 times a month. The customer service is excellent and friendly. Today the owner was there and she greeted us. She is so nice and welcoming. She let me try a new salmon dish and it was so delicious and tastes homemade. We had our usual fried catfish with sweet potato fries and greens. I tried the Blackened catfish with a yummy salsa on top. I recommend everyone to come eat at Georgia's.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by Georgias. My friend was in town and wanted to have some soul food. She found this spot online and honestly I was a bit apprehensive. I thought, shopping center restaurant, chain soul food? Nah. But, it wasn't bad at all. I had the fried chicken with greens and garlic rice. The greens had a some flavor to them and pairing with the rice is the perfect choice. The chicken was cooked well without me asking and had a thick crisp buttermilk coating that just needed some hot sauce to set it off. Corn bread muffins were served warm and you'll want extra of those. Our service was pretty good for a casual establishment as well.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying this place. I ate my food there. I got the fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. The service was okay. Two girls were working. One girl went above and beyond, and the other seemed like she didn't want to be at work because she watched my empty glass multiple times without asking if I wanted a refill. If it weren't for the other girl, I would have given it 3 stars.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this Georgia's. Couldn't decide between the catfish dinner or fried chicken. Got the Fried Chicken w/2 sides ( I was shocked that corn muffins didn't come with it like most ... u have to pay xtra!). Needless to say I didn't know that until I got home w/ my food and didn't see a muffin. I ordered p/u through Uber Eats. Food was ready on time and packed nicely. Chicken was Hot sides where Luke warm. I paid xtra for 2 Breast fried xtra crispy. I was disappointed. The Breast weren't bone in Breast but Breast fillet which would've been okay if they were SEASONED. The batter was crispy but like a cornmeal flour mix which I assume they fry the catfish in bc it looked like fish but was chicken. My sides Collard greens. 2/10 no taste tough greens needed SEASONING! Black eye peas 7/10 better than the greens. Had a lil seasoning but needed more Both could use some smoked meat in them. This was at the LBX location. Customer service was nice. Will I go back and try something else? No. I stick to Dulans The Pann Serving Spoon and Reds Flavor Table

Yelp
A simple yet delectable restaurant. There were so many good options, and I took too long to order. The workers helped provide some recommendations which was fish and grits, and it was a great suggestion! You get free cornbread with your food. Restaurant was clean and nice. It was not that busy on a Saturday lunch which is nice to me. Would love to come back when I'm in town!.

Rafael E.

Yelp
The food was alright. Gumbo was watery, decent flavor. The St. Louis ribs were somewhere between cold and room temp. Decent flavor on the ribs. The mac and cheese was creamy but lacked a depth of flavor. The coleslaw was overly wilted and flavorless. It was cabbage with milk. The fried green tomatoes were yummy! Will definitely order these again. The service was stupendous! I loved the servers. They were so attentive and genuinely nice.

Yelp
It saddens me to say, that I didn't want to stay at Georgias Restaurant. I visited on a Sunday which from the looks of it is a very busy day. This establishment is located at the Long Beach Exchange. It sits on the corner of a busy entrance way to the shops Nordstrom Rack, and Ulta Beauty. So if you're into shopping and then dinning, you're in heaven. Be advised, this is an order first and then sit down establishment. Upon arrival it was a line and only one cashier. I'm patient, so I wasn't bothered by the wait. I got there around 1pm so if you decide to go around the same time, be prepared to exercise patience. After the 15min line wait, I was ready to order everything on the menu. However, I decided to get the shrimp and grits, with a side of scrambled eggs and the fried catfish. What can I say...I was hungry. My total was 42.01 with a drink and I made my way to an empty table, which was a little hard to find in the busyness of it all. Nevertheless, I found a table in the back and although tables were dirty, the staff was eager to clean them up and have them ready for the next guests who were ready to dine. I sat down and was served a cornbread muffin. The server will ask you how many are dinning with you to know how much to give you. Since it was just me myself and I, I received 1. However, it was the best thing about this place. The cornbread muffins were perfection! Warm, light and served with a delicious whipped butter with the perfect amount of sweetness. Not too long after my muffin, my food arrived steaming. The food looked nice, but it lacked in seasoning. I don't know if it was due to the staff not being prepared for the rush or if they were short staffed but I believe that it could have been better. Overall my experience was okay, but I'm confident Georgia can win me over. I will try again soon and hopefully things will be different. Everyone deserves a second chance right?

Yelp
I've been here a couple times now and I love the vibe. Love the patio. And Love that it is across the street from Handel's! This time, coworkers were the craverers! We arrived just in time as the line started just after we got there. We were welcomed with fresh cornbread and butter. Yum. Flat Iron Steak - I got this and it was yum! I got 2 sides of the Georgia's house salad with citrus dressing which was very flavorful. I would definitely order this again. My colleagues got different items including Fried Chicken and Waffles which looked good. Shrimp and Grits looked amazing. Jambalaya looked really good too. I love the patio seating. Service was quick and friendly. Parking is plentiful but can be difficult during mealtime.

Yelp
Food: I visited Georgia's for the first time and had greens, catfish and yams. The greens were cool-nothing horrible, nothing fantastic. The catfish was not catfishing at all. It wasn't good. The yams were ok and probably the best thing on the plate. Drinks:I had a Hurricane and I finished it to finish it. It was just ok. Service: It was average. Atmosphere: Average moderate noise Final thoughts: Nothing wowed me. I don't have to return. I always encourage folks to try things for themselves soooooo......good luck!

Yelp
I order Gumbo on doorDash today. Too much rice added to the gumbo causing the rice to suck up all the liquid. When I opened my container upon arrival, I was shocked and very disappointed

Yelp
I dined there tonight with an out of town guest. I ordered catfish with cabbage and French fries. The fries were cold and hard, and when I asked for a new order, the waitress took the cold fries, and never returned. When I went to the counter to get some more iced tea, she admitted that she forgot and asked if I wanted another side dish to go. I declined, I had finished my meal. Georgia's this was unacceptable. Please do better. Mac

Yelp
Last minute decision to have sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving since our dinner was not traditional. The usual bakery for pies was just too far away and I was skeptical about trying this place, but after seeing the price point, I thought these pies could not disappoint. They were delicious and everyone at dinner loved the consistency and taste. Local and worth every dollar! I'll be back for more at Christmas!

Yelp
Ordered for pick up on a busy Friday night. I ordered the fish and grits which was so delicious and savory. My son ordered the smothered pork chops with their collards greens, Mac and cheese and a side of red beans and rice. Everything we had was absolutely amazing. This is right around the corner from where we live and honestly didn't realize how yummy this was! I want to order the grits again ! Please get the cheese on top! Thinking about this makes my mouth water! Didn't get a chance to take a photo since we literally devoured our plates! Haha! Next time I'll remember camera eats first!

Yelp
I truly wanted to like this plate but i cant say that i did. The mac and cheese might as well been krafts, the potatoes tasted WORSE than instant mash (flavorless), red beans and rice tasted like mush. Greens were nothing to write home about and the yamsssss, well you see them. The ribs were burnt to a crisp, the chicken tastes soggy and crunch at the same time?!? While i say all of this the service was good. Very kind staff. The manager couldnt give a refund for the practically untouched food only store credit?

Yelp
I am pretty much over having expectations much less believing the displayed rating for a business these days. With that said; this place was decent enough and just a bit disappointing. The food & service was decent and the tri tip sandwich was good tbh and I imagine based upon their overall 4 star review that maybe, just maybe on certain days; the food is amazing, excellent and near perfect; so maybe I will return on one of those days. Also got fried shrimp and fries for my lil one and no real complaints with that dish other than no sauce or ketchup provided. It seems like this chain is focusing on a customer which needs a more generic and bland version of southern cooking. But tbh the food I got for myself (tri tip sandwich and fried shrimp and fries) which all together was about $30 was good but not great. No extras like cocktail sauce, ketchup, etc. provided so most likely you have to ask for it when you order online.

Yelp
Gumbo: watered down saltiness with no flavor Yams: see attached photo ..... NO flavor barely sweet AND they put the stem end in my bowl?!!! You couldn't cut that off?!!!! Red beans and rice: not cooked long enough and not a good flavor The ONLY saving grace was the cornbread with soft butter! Georgia please do quality control on EVERY item out the door Not trying anything else......yams and red beans went in the trash

Yelp
Beautiful corner location , plenty of parking and nice closed in patio. The 2 lovely ladies behind the counter were well versed in the menu, preparation, ingredients any add on's available. They know the history behind the name. The food came out hot, smelling good and tasted 'licious!!!!!' So happy to be made aware of the one closer to my house. I am eating my cobbler as I type thinking of going to get lil something for tonight JERSEY and ANDREA you're the BEST!!! Thank you for the GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Yelp
The atmosphere was really nice. The server was friendly and attentive. The rice and beans and mac and cheese lacked the flavor and richness. The chicken was overcooked and very dry.

Yelp
Dessert experience. I ordered beignets here for a little treat. I was a little disappointed cause it didn't taste like soft yummy doughy pillows. Maybe they were slightly overcooked. They also were not generous with the powder sugar. Lol Maybe next time I'll try the entrees.

Yelp
What a Mess Across the Board I've visited three Georgia's locations in the past 30 days: Long Beach, Irvine Spectrum, and Anaheim. Here's the breakdown: Anaheim: The fries were good. That's about all I can say. Irvine Spectrum: Overpriced and overcooked, with flavorless food. Long Beach (this review focuses here): An absolute disappointment. At Long Beach, the customer service was terrible--a stark contrast to the friendly service at Irvine and Anaheim. Two young employees seemed distracted, preoccupied, and far from welcoming. I waited quite a while for my food, only to see a bag sitting on the counter, which I assumed was for Uber Eats since I was the only one waiting. Instead of handing me my food, they decided to dust glasses while it sat there getting cold. Finally, after cleaning glasses, they handed me the bag (no utensils included). Now, onto the food: Awful. The shrimp was drowned in an absurd amount of hard batter/cornmeal. When I peeled it off, I found tiny shrimp barely bigger than ants. No seasoning--unless you count the taste of old grease. If this is supposed to pass as soul food, it's fooling no one who's familiar with authentic cooking. What a waste of time and money. Unless you're someone who doesn't cook or hasn't eaten real soul food, you might think this is passable. I'm done with Georgia's for good. Too bad.

Yelp
Soul food in a fancy and elegant setting? Apparently it's possible at Georgia's. Traditional Southern cooking presented with fine dining ware, it's not quite the complete restaurant experience because the customers still line up at the counter to order, but they do bring the food to you on a platter. The food also taste refined. The corn bread was memorable, buttery and crunchy, and I have no doubt that they were freshly baked at the restaurant. My fried catfish was moist and creamy in its light and crispy batter. It's not oily or salty. The grits had just enough pepper and butter to tantalize the taste buds, but it's even better accompanied by the chili sauce mixed with roasted red pepper and caramelized onion. Georgia's proves that soul food doesn't have to be excessively hearty. The service was attentive and represents the essence of southern hospitality.

Yelp
I was out running errands and decided to stop in Georgia's for brunch. I got the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs and coffee. The food was OK. The chicken needed some paprika or something in the seasoning to give it a kick. The waffle wasn't the best but just OK. The restaurant is cute with an outdoor patio area that was covered. Great customer service.

Yelp
Great service and ambiance! Seating available both inside and outside. Light music, good to have a chat with others. Food is tasty! Pork chop itself was moist in addition to the gravy. The corn bread was excellent! Fries were crunchy but soft on the inside.

Yelp
If I did this review on my first visit, it would've been 3 stars due to the underwhelming food and experience. But I'm glad I waited. The first visit was not the best but every visit afterwards have been amazing. So this place is a higher quality southern food experience. This isn't your hole in the wall soul food spot (which usually works against a concept because the hole in the wall spots usually taste better). However, Georgia's have proved that they can look bougie but they are still down to earth cooking. The inside is clean and nice to sit in. This place can be used to celebrate an occasion or meet with a friend for lunch or early dinner. The service each time after the first has been amazing with super friendly staff answering questions and making great recommendations You go to the register, order your food, pay then get a number to put on your table (unless it's takeout). Then they bring out all your food. It doesn't take long but it's not quick either. Just know this isn't a place for a quick in and out experience unless you order ahead. The food is fresh and it def takes time. Lots of parking since it's in a shopping plaza

Yelp
Establishment was clean and decent. Customer service was amazing. We got the fried green tomatoes was ok Taste like they use the same breading as the fish they taste like fish. The tartar sauce is delicious. chili cheese fries were terrible. The chili taste like the canned hormel and it wasn't enough chili or cheese. The Seabass was amazing. The cornbread was amazing. The peach sangria was terrible.

Yelp
I ordered Tri Tip, French Fries and Black Eyed Peas and my mother ordered Fried Catfish, Garlic Rice and Seasonal Vegetables. Tri Tip was quite good as were both of my sides. My mother didn't finish her catfish so she let me finish it. I thought that the catfish was good, very satisfactory, but I had better elsewhere in the past at Cracker Barrel and Petro which is a truckstop chain. Cornbread came which I didn't eat as I am not a cornbread guy. My mother was satisfied with the cornbread. Men's washroom was clean and paper towels were available... good. Service was mostly good. I do have some bones to pick. Service: I asked if any other bread was available besides cornbread. The server said garlic bread was available. I asked if I could have garlic bread instead of the cornbread. The server said there would be a charge for that. Deduct a half point for that. Size of washroom: The men's washroom is designed for the use of only one person at a time. It ought to be redesigned so someone could use the urinal, the commode and the sink all at the same time. My 0.02$. Deduct one half point for that. I noticed that at least one guy working there wore his shirt untucked. I consider that to be unprofessional. I'm OCD about that. Deduct one point for that. Final score 3/5 or if a letter grade is assigned, a solid "C".
