It saddens me to say, that I didn't want to stay at Georgias Restaurant. I visited on a Sunday which from the looks of it is a very busy day. This establishment is located at the Long Beach Exchange. It sits on the corner of a busy entrance way to the shops Nordstrom Rack, and Ulta Beauty. So if you're into shopping and then dinning, you're in heaven. Be advised, this is an order first and then sit down establishment.
Upon arrival it was a line and only one cashier. I'm patient, so I wasn't bothered by the wait. I got there around 1pm so if you decide to go around the same time, be prepared to exercise patience. After the 15min line wait, I was ready to order everything on the menu. However, I decided to get the shrimp and grits, with a side of scrambled eggs and the fried catfish. What can I say...I was hungry.
My total was 42.01 with a drink and I made my way to an empty table, which was a little hard to find in the busyness of it all. Nevertheless, I found a table in the back and although tables were dirty, the staff was eager to clean them up and have them ready for the next guests who were ready to dine.
I sat down and was served a cornbread muffin. The server will ask you how many are dinning with you to know how much to give you. Since it was just me myself and I, I received 1. However, it was the best thing about this place. The cornbread muffins were perfection! Warm, light and served with a delicious whipped butter with the perfect amount of sweetness.
Not too long after my muffin, my food arrived steaming. The food looked nice, but it lacked in seasoning. I don't know if it was due to the staff not being prepared for the rush or if they were short staffed but I believe that it could have been better.
Overall my experience was okay, but I'm confident Georgia can win me over. I will try again soon and hopefully things will be different. Everyone deserves a second chance right?
