Oh wow! The buche de Noel was superb. You get a choice in size & flavor. This is the half size in chocolate. Order ahead of time & pick up at the Jolt & Bolt Cafe. I had both for 2 different events & everyone loved it!

I am so happy to have had Gerhard Michler make my wedding cake. If you prefer more European style (read as “not as sugary”) and more naturally flavored desserts, then you’ll be impressed. Mary did make my day… the samples were delicious (we ate them all), so many flavors to choose from, they’re affordable, and she’ll explain the decoration options and best practices to consider (bring your Pinterest ideas). We ordered a four-tier cake with each tier being its own flavor. It wasn’t a problem at all. To save costs (and IMHO improve the taste by not using fondant icing), we selected a buttercream frosting for the outside, used fresh flowers, and had applications of gold leafing placed around the sides. The only downside is that they deliver to San Francisco locations only. Our wedding was in SF, so it worked out. Order extra servings because your guests will eat their entire serving and you’ll want more the next day. At other bakeries we tasted either too-sweet sheet cake samples (that needed chugs of bitter coffee to balance them out) or very good European-style samples in Menlo Park (that were way over-priced for their most basic wedding cake). Wedding planning tip: Request your wedding venue catering staff to give guests more time before collecting their dinner and wedding cake plates. Quite a few guests told me they took a couple of bites and left their table for a short time to find that their plate was already collected! If you’re paying for delicious food, tell your catering staff about this, so your guests can enjoy their meal....without having to guard their plates.

Can't speak to the atmosphere or service but the food was very good. Fruit was not soggy, and the shortbread crust was excellent

I ordered a traditional Croquembouche Wedding cake and it was an absolute show stopper. Beautiful and delicious! All our guests wanted to know where it was from. And Mary was wonderful during the whole process of ordering and arranging for pickup. What a treat!

Yelp
Gerhard Michler's tiny spot is hidden beneath a. industrial building. I took an Uber ride to find this place. Parking is limited at this location. I was grateful to try their last chocolate hazelnut mousse cake with my family. Their chocolate was made of fine quality cocoa. The cake appeared rich yet the cake was layered professionally to balance out the flavors. We also ordered a few pastries: opera cake and strawberry. My son loved his strawberry treat. The opera cake had a nice delicate flavor. It is best to preorder cakes rather than risking the chance of securing one for a last minute party.

Yelp
Went on Yelp to search for a bakery with good ratings for my sister's birthday cake. Found Gerhard Michele and decided to give it a try. I ordered the tiramisu because it seemed like the least sweet, as our whole family prefer desserts that are not too sweet. The cake turned out to be authentic and delicious. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I've placed several birthday cake orders over the coarse of a few years here. I remember when the price was $29.45 back in 2016 when I placed my first order and now the same cake has gone up to $44.50. Still worth every penny! Check out their website, they have at least 22 cakes. I'd email my order a few days in advance for a Saturday morning pick up and it's always ready on time. Each cake can easily feed up to 12 people or more. Some of the cakes have at least 5 layers! I like that they don't taste overly sweet and they are moist.

Yelp
Last minute cake because our favorite birthday cake bakery is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. It was not difficult to find the location, but we didn't know where we were allowed to park. Since we didn't preorder, we had to choose from the 2 cakes in the case. The hazelnut chocolate cake was rich and delicious. The price was more than fair. But I decided to pick up a small piece of the tiramisu. That was disappointing. The mascarpone was a bit firmer than I like. The cake layer was also firm, a bit dry. Maybe out in the case too long for a very small piece? Will definitely order and buy again. Everyone enjoyed the cake.

Yelp
4 stars for the cake, 5 stars for service, value, and availability. I forgot to order a birthday cake for my boyfriend and had to find one last-minute; I found this place because I looked up buche de Noel in his neighborhood. Unfortunately, they only make them for the Christmas season so I was not able to order one, but I was able to order a gluten-free flourless chocolate cake with pickup available the following day. They were very flexible (any time from 9 AM to 2 PM) and gave me instructions on where to go. For $45, the cake was a great portion and more than enough for 12 people (after a BBQ). I was expecting a denser, more chocolatey flourless cake since I've made quite a few but didn't have time since I was flying in from out of town; however, it was beautifully presented and everyone said it was a very good cake - some people had seconds. The woman who gave me my cake was friendly, gave great advice for leaving the cake out at room temperature, and seemed to genuinely take pride in their baked goods. She also offered us free cookies, which were very good. She was so personable and warm that I would definitely come back - hopefully will be able to get a buche de Noel next year too!

Yelp
So glad I found this place! It was such an easy process to be able to order via email and Mary was helpful in providing suggestions to what I needed. Pick up location was a bit confusing since it's not a typical store front but it wasn't too hard to find in the end. I got the chocolate cappuccino cake which was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Yelp
Delicious!!! Everything tastes amazing. A staple in San Francisco that everyone who visits must try.

Yelp
If you want some great tasting mini tarts for your party be sure to order tarts from here. I ordered the blueberry, raspberry, key lime meringue and lemon meringue tarts. Everything from the crust to the filling and fruits were fresh. I really appreciate the attention to detail and how professional and perfect looking the tarts were. I placed my order a week in advance and there were no problems with pick-up. Be sure to check them out.

Yelp
Ordered an 8" custom ombré cake and 24 mini fresh fruit tarts and both were excellent. The cake was a 3 layer chocolate cake with chocolate filling. I contacted them to place the order through email and corresponded with Mary a few times before finally placing my order. It was all pretty easy and prices are also reasonable. When I came to pick up the cake, it was a bit confusing because the location looks like a loading dock or employees only area, but if you go to the door with their address number you will find what you are looking for. The door has signs for jolt n bolt bakery and international creations, which threw me off, but I went in anyway and yay my cake and tarts were there and ready for pick up. I would order from here again if I ever needed cakes or pastries for a party. The chocolate cake was perfectly done. Very light and moist cake that is not too sweet, paired with a fluffy rich chocolate filling. I gave them a photo of how I wanted the ombré design to look and it came out beautifully. Everyone complimented on how nice the cake looked. I would like to try the cream puffs next!

Yelp
My wife ordered our wedding cake from this bakery. The end result was delicious and beautiful. I normally do not like the taste of wedding cakes but this one was excellent and everyone enjoyed it. Our group ate the whole thing. I was told the ordering process was very simple and they were easy to work with. Thanks!

Yelp
Excellent service, caring staff and delicious pastries! Mary Michler has always been professional and listens to what the customer needs when placing an order. We have used them for many large events over the years and they never fail to amaze us at how delicious their pastries are. Gerhard Michler is a company that truly stands behind what they believe in. Amazing sweets baked with love.

Yelp
This is such a wonderful bakery in SF! It was so hard for me to find a chocolate orange cake. This was the only place I could find it. I was so happy with the cake And will definitely be coming back! Tip: definitely call and order your cake in advance.

Yelp
The wedding cake they made was so delicious! My guests did compliment on the freshness and not overly sweet cake.

Yelp
They did the Croquembouche for our wedding (see photo). Croquembouche is the name for the traditional French wedding cake, aka "piece montee" for the Frenchies. It looked amazing, and tasted amazing. Guests attacked it even before the husband and I had a chance to even take a look at it. We ate every last piece of it over the next couple of days. We had half of the puffs filled with Grand Marnier Cream, half with Chocolate Cream. It was truly divine.

Yelp
My GOD! Shame on ME! How did I forget to write a review for Gerhard Michler?! Ok, let's rewind. My then fiance and I had already gone to several cake tastings. I know cake tasting is supposed to be the fun part of wedding planning... however, I started to have doubts about not being able to find the "one" who'd be making our cake. All the other tastings we've gone to were either way too expensive, cake was too sweet or too dry, or they just didn't have our flavors. Then I stumbled upon Gerhard Michler. As it turns out, they became the "one" for us! I had completely forgotten that I wanted to try them out! I'm so glad I bookmarked them on yelp! Throughout the entire process, Mary was very helpful. It was hard to reach her by phone, but she's really responsive via email. We went in for our tasting and we loved ALL the items we tried! She even put a little dessert box together for us to take home! mMm... Designing our cake was effortless and so much fun! Since my husband and I are HUGE SF GIANTS fans, we had the perfect cake toppers. We didn't want any flowers on the cake, so we chose to have simple sation orange ribbons on the bottom of each tier and added silver pearls to the top of each tier. Mary even made a home plate for our oh so perfect SF Giants Hello Kitty cake toppers! We went with buttercream instead of fondant... I'm not a huge fan of fondant whatsoever. The only tough part was deciding on the flavors. We ended up choosing 4 flavors. We opted for a 3-tiered cake. Top layer was a choclate cake with mocha. The second layer was white cake with passionfruit and mango. The bottom layer was a white cake with rasberry and lemon. These were so refreshing and not overly sweet. The cake was also super moist and fluffy! Our sheet cake, we opted for tiramisu... my favorite! Since pricing came up to be less than what we expected, we added on some scrumptious desserts for our dessert bar! We ordered a big box of macarons, napolean squares, fresh fruit tartlets, and mocha cream tartlets. These were such a hit! So much that I only got to devour one macaron at our wedding! (Sad, but true.) Most couples choose to save the top layer of their wedding cake and freeze it for an entire year, then take it out during their 1 year anniversary to enjoy. However, we decided not to do so, since Mary said they'd bake us a fresh cake when the time comes. :) So fast forward to our wedding day... the cake and desserts... we received so many compliments and we couldn't have been more happy as to how everything turned out. Our cake was marvelous, yet simple. It perfectly showcased all of our wedding colors. From that day forward, we had decided we'd only go back to Gerhard Michler for any cake needs. Mary, Gerhard, and staff - thank you for EVERYTHING! We're truly thankful for all the work you put in to make our day that much sweeter!

Yelp
With less than 2 weeks left before our wedding, my husband and I finally decided to settle on a dessert - and a croquembouche cake it was! With such outstanding reviews of Gerhard Michler, how could we go wrong!? And they did not disappoint... Not only were they able to accommodate such a short turnaround time, we did not even have to meet face to face to make it happen! We ordered petit fours as well, and there wasn't a bite left of the cake or any dessert at the end of the night. They also delivered everything to our destination in Woodside, CA. All was very reasonably priced, especially for such a delicious dessert spread that we had. Only regret: not eating more dessert during the wedding ;)

Yelp
Mary did an awesome job of attending to all of the details we'd requested re: our wedding cake. It tasted great, looked epic, arrived on time, and was decorated perfectly (fresh flowers, ribbon, smooth-as-silk icing with meticulous bead-like detail which she suggested). We couldn't have been happier, and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!

Yelp
Their cakes are amazing! And I mean their regular cakes, not wedding cakes. I can just imagine how elegant their wedding cakes and custom cakes turn out. They pay close attention to detail and each cake is artfully and artistically completed to perfection. I ordered the tropical pearl for my mother's birthday. It contains yellow cake topped with mango passionfruit mousse with another layer of hazelnut cake and raspberry jam. It not only looked beautiful but it tasted just as good. The mousse is light and fluffy. The layers of cake aren't too heavy and very moist. The cakes aren't too sweet which is probably why I LOVE them. I've also been able to try their raspberry pistachio creme brulee cake which was also delicious and their best seller. A great balance between sweet and tarte without being overbearing. The cake was a square of about 8inx8in for $28. Not bad at all for the quality and quantity you get! I called in to place the order a week in advance and picked it up the day of dinner. I paid when I picked it up. Hint: you call the bakery to place a phone order for your cake but you pick it up at the Jolt n Bolt Cafe. The cafe does accept credit cards.

Yelp
An absolutely euphoric experience! This review is for their individual retail items served at Jolt N Bolt. Everything I had was outrageously delicious! First, the perfect tiramisu. It was light and not too sweet. The layers did not bleed into each other. The bottom layer never got soggy. Oops! A cookie sampling at the register blew me away, first. Had to stifle my glee! The next evening, the pear and almond tart at home. A fork tender buttery crust balanced with the pear and almond paste. Excitement with every bite! Have I gushed, enough?

Yelp
Since neither my husband nor I are partial to wedding cake, we recently commissioned Gerhard Michler to craft a croquembouche for our wedding last month. Not only are they one of few bakeries in the Bay Area who make croquembouche, but their desserts and pastries are really well-done (i.e. rich and flavorful, but not cloyingly sweet). Our order: 2-foot croquembouche tower with several dozen petit fours to supplement the dessert table. We worked with Mary, who responded quickly to our inquiries and was incredibly patient with our concerns about transporting and storing the tall cream puff tower; we are happy to report that it arrived at the venue intact and proved to be a seriously impressive and delicious treat for our guests! We'll have to return to the bakery again, as the petit fours were consumed too quickly for us to try all of them!

Yelp
When I was a kid I was a complete dessert hound. Breakfast? No thanks. Dinner? Nah. Delicious snacks? Meh. Cake? HOLY JESUS, GET IN MY FACE. I've mostly grown out of that, now favoring the savory end of the spectrum, but Gerhard Michler reminded me that sweets are worth saving room for. His walnut spice cake is lightly sweet, not a cloying gross mess like most commercially available desserts, layered with a coffee cream and finished with an apricot gelee. The bûche de Noël? A total crowd-pleaser, yummy genoise rolled around buttercream and topped off with cute sugar mushrooms and hand-painted chocolate tiles. Beautiful AND delicious. Parking's a bit dicey, you can park in one of the delivery spots (not recommended because guess what, delivery people do use them) or pull up on the sidewalk. If you do the latter do expect to be flipped off by charming families out for their daily constitutional. The cops do not seem to give even one shit, though, so joke's on you, charming families!

Yelp
Called in to see what cakes were available for my daughter's, birthday. I was told a cappuccino chocolate cake was. I asked off there were any animal derived ingredients in the cake because we'd need it to be vegetarian. Marge (Margaret), advised that it had dairy. I said vegetarian, not vegan but anyway. It is animal derived. So that's cool. I then asked her if there was any alcohol in the cake. Nope. So we were good. I let Marge know that cappuccino isn't probably the best for a two year old so of there were any small items maybe we could get those. She mentioned some tarts. We held the cake. It was about $24.50 including $1.50 for the customized chocolate birthday message. She advised that we'd pick up at Jolt 'n Bolt. We get there, and I look at the cake and it looks like it has some gelatin situation going on. So, we drove from Oakland to Dogpatch only to find out that almost every cake they carry has gelatin in it. They had one vegetarian cake that we ended up buying. A lemon coffee cake concoction. I went with the flow but it was a disappointing experience. I'd be wary if you're vegetarian or vegan.

Marlyn B.

Yelp
The best wedding cake ever! Beautiful and delicious. Our guests love it! We also had the best desserts. Thank goodness we have enough to feed our visitors all night long of the party. Can't thank enough Mrs Michler for helping us.
google avatar

Bob K.

Yelp
Secret Treasure in Dogpatch! Oh-so-fine European pastry creations right here... How do you beat that? You don't. Just order, try, and enjoy. If you're looking for something to serve or take to a special get-together you cannot go wrong with Gerhard Michler. We've tried a walnut spice cake that was light, moist subtle and rich at the same time, and a Bouche Noel that really wowed our Holiday guests! Chocolate cake with hazelnut creme in a roll, covered with excellent dark chocolate and finished with decorative chocolate and marzipan decorations. Beautiful, luscious but not heavy or too sweet. Prices are more than reasonable. Service is super friendly. You can order online or by phone or just stop by at Jolt'n'Bolt. You will be glad you did! Near 3rd/20th convenient to the T Line and parking-possible.

Yelp
We were referred to Gerhard Michler by our wedding caterer. I had called around to several bakeries, met a couple at wedding fairs and was underwhelmed by the response and the flavors. Once you start planning your event, it is surprising at how many vendors don't even bother to call you back (I'm thinking of a well known SF bakery that is often featured on the Food Network - they never answer the phone and you leave a message and no one calls). I emailed Mary Michler (yes, the owner pays personal attention to you!) and she emailed me back immediately suggesting a meeting time. We made our way down there with a picture of the cake I wanted and were greeted with delectable treats. They mainly make deserts for restaurants and so most of the items we tried were of that size, but they were delicious. She also brought out the different frostings - fondant, rolled white and dark chocolate, butter cream (my favorite), and marzipan. We discussed size and servings - she brought out the pans so we could get an idea of what the finished cake would look like. We also asked her to suggest different combinations of cake and fillings that would be popular. We also discussed how the decoration I wanted would have to be done using rolled frosting - but the best part is that they still use butter cream UNDER the rolled frosting, so I'd have the best of both worlds. Mary also helpfully mentioned that in order to get the black and white look I wanted they would have to put food coloring in the fondant, which might leave the insides of people's mouths black. Fondant actually tastes like marshmallows, so we went for the dark and white chocolate - I think that was a good decision. We ended up getting a larger cake than we really needed because it just looked better, but we saved the entire top layer (which was specially our favorite flavors - almond cake with coconut and caramel filling) AND she sent us home with the frosting and filling samples so I had several days to ruin my diet and think about which ones I liked best. They delivered the cake and we had plenty. I KNOW people went back for seconds (and thirds) and many people commented on how it was the best tasting wedding cake they'd ever had. It was gooey and delicious. The cake was delivered by Gerhard himself and we had plenty of it all for under $600. The entire process was painless happily delicious. I highly recommend Gerhard Michler. They are fantastic.

Yelp
Creative International is the best! I am so getting my wedding cake done by them. Gerhard Michler is a European trained pastry chef, and he opened this place with his wife Mary, who is a great woman. The cakes/tarts/petit fours will amaze you with their subtle flavors and incredible textures. They completely avoid the overly sweet mishaps, and every single cake from here is absolutely decadent. My family's been getting birthday/holiday cakes from here for the past 15 years, so I've tried pretty much everything on their menu. The only problem is, their creations are so gorgeous you don't really want to ruin them... go to their website to check them out, but beware the ensuing dessert cravings.

Yelp
Like most of the previous reviewers, we worked with Mary and Gerhard for our wedding cake - actually croquembouche. Mary was a really wonderful to deal with and our cake tasting was by far the most enjoyable vendor appointment we had during the entire wedding planning process! Mary also sent us home with a box of goodies that we devoured almost immediately. Most importantly, the croque was beyond beautiful and delicious!!! We received so many compliments and were absolutely blown away by how gorgeous it was! As someone who found this bakery on Yelp, I can tell you that you can't go wrong for a wedding or any special occasion.

Yelp
The. Best. Wedding cake. EVER!!! Mary and Gerhard were fantastic to work with every step of the way. I had a vision--something intensely, obscenely chocolatey and with a chess theme--and they created a masterpiece beyond my imagining. Firstly, as you can see from the picture I uploaded to yelp, it was gorgeous--decadent chocolate fondant with a chocolate chess board and chocolate chess pieces. Secondly, it was the best tasting wedding cake ever. Scratch that. It was one of the best CAKES I have ever had, period. The tasting itself blew me away, but the cake on my wedding day was even BETTER than all the delectable things I sampled. I cannot recommend Mary and Gerhard highly enough. Best advice: work with them to create the cake of your dreams, and then add some platters of their incredible petite-fours. My guests were in Sugar High Heaven!

Yelp
Wow. This place is on its A-game. Mary was always quick to respond, answered all million of my questions via email and delivered on her word. The result was a gorgeous cake that tasted as fabulous as it looked! It was a custom piece, all imagined in my head and Mary and the Michler team were able to create it. We had a chocolate cake with a dulce de leche and fresh sliced banana filling, covered in a chocolate ganache and decorated with handmade orchids. It was moist, flavorful and sweet enough without being that kind of cloyingly sweet that makes you want to go into a diabetic coma 20 minutes later. I was super impressed because I knew I was taking a chance on asking for a cake that might be so overly sweet that my guests might go over the edge after a few bites, but not so! It was a perfect balance. I am definitely looking forward to ordering all my special occasion cakes here.

Yelp
I needed a very special birthday cake for my mom's husband. It was his 80th birthday. I decided to give this bakery a try and I was blown away by what they did for us. I ordered a chocolate cake with mousse and raspberry filling. It was beyond delicious. And the price was also better than a lot of other well known bakeries in the area. I can't recommend this place highly enough! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
We just had GM do our wedding cake, the 2 foot high Crochenbuche, and we were thrilled with the quality of the cream puffs and loved the magnificence of the presentation. We opted for chocolate and vanilla cream puffs, but found the vanilla ones superior and next time will just get that flavor. We picked it up from the bakery and it travelled very well. The internal structure is solidly encased in very thickly spun sugar so it's fairly easy to move without toppling it. This cake is a crowd pleaser!

Yelp
Gerhard Michler made our cake and petit fours for the dessert bar at our wedding on 01/15/2013. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH! Here's why: 1) Everything they make tastes delicious 2) Everything they make looks extremely artistic and expensive 3) The cost was so much less than I was expecting!!!! (and so much less than it was worth!) 4) The service is IMPECCABLE. They treat you like you are a million dollar celebrity client even when you are only spending a few hundred dollars. Mary (Gerhard's wife) does all the communication and she is sweet, attentive, organized, and quick to respond. They made us a small 2 tiered cake with intricate custom designs and even through all the modifications, never once said "no we can't do that", instead they were always very eager to make sure that the end product was what I wanted. I ADORE them!!! Everything looked and tasted great on our wedding day!! :o)

Yelp
I adore Gerhard and Mary Michler; I cannot say anything but amazing things about them, their customer service, and their delicious desserts! I had the joy of working with them for my wedding cake and guest favors (macaroons). First, their cake flavors are unbelievably delicious; just really out of this world! I'm a huge fan of sweets and desserts and theirs are some of the best I've had. Second, the cake was beyond gorgeous, I was so blown away by how beautiful it was! All of our guests raved about how fantastic the cake was. Third, because they are wholesale, their pricing is phenomenal. Last, Mary and Gerhard are incredibly kind people. Mary, who I spoke with most frequently, was such a pleasure to work with. I really appreciated all of her kindness, quick responses, creativity, and generosity. For these reasons, I highly and completely recommend Gerhard Michler Fine Desserts to anyone looking for a wedding cake baker in the SF Bay Area. You absolutely cannot go wrong by choosing them. Thank you so much Mary and Gerhard for everything, we adore you!

Yelp
Thank you for the beautiful and delicious wedding cake! Mary was a huge help, and because I live in San Diego and my wedding was in San Francisco we had to correspond often through email. Mary always responded in a timely manner, and was very thorough. Do not look else where for a wedding cake! Best customer service, and best cake in San Francisco =)

Yelp
I don't write many reviews, but we had a variety of their petit fours this morning (breakfast in bed). Am I allowed to say this on Yelp?...it was better than sex. So good! I will buy their desserts for my next party for sure.

Yelp
Mary is the absolute sweetest (no pun intended)!!! My Maid of Honor recommended Gerhard b/c she's been buying cakes from them for years. Not only that, Gerhard Michler came on the 'preferred vendors' list my venue provided. I couldn't be happier picking them. We had a 3 tier cake, angle food cake, tiramisu and top tier mocha. The cake was absolutely stunning and delicious. I even had two slices at our wedding and I never have cake at weddings. Thanks, Mary!

Yelp
Ordered the hazelnut/chockolot cake for a friends birthday, and it was simply awesome. Beautiful, decadent and sophisticated. Ordered the day before the big event, it was ready on time with the inscription perfectly done. Navigating the location (parking, and finding them in the building) of the "Jolt N Bolt" cafe' - the "retail" outlet for Gehard Michler is a bit of a challenge. The cake proved worthy of any effort to order & pick-up. http://www.gerhardmichler.com/purchase/joltnbolt.html

Yelp
I contacted this company 6 months ago because we would like to get croquembouche for our reception. I let them know the date and they told me that they would not let me schedule a tasting until 90 days before the event. I called back today to schedule the tasting and was told that the chef who handles tastings is out until the end of August *and* that they don't work on Sundays and they need to make the croquembouche the same day. So now, I've waited 6 months to be told they couldn't do our croquembouche. I guess it would've been too difficult to actually talk to us when we first inquired? Horrible customer service. I have no idea what their pastries taste like since obviously we never were able to schedule a tasting.

Yelp
We went here specifically because of all the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, I think the reviews are based on cakes and not for someone looking for some pastries to take home. We ordered some type of orange tart, cookies, and a new tall thimble pastry they just introduced- they were ok but nothing special.

Yelp
If you're looking for an amazing wedding cake, don't go anywhere else. Gerhard Michler is the best in the city. Their cakes are truly works of art and a divine to eat. They are not overly sweet or heavy. Their flavors are refined and subtle. Our guests devoured it, and yours will too. We also asked them to do our wedding favors. Mary Michler was great to work with and incredibly flexible. We went with bag of tea cookies, which a couple of our Austrian guests said tasted exactly like back in Austria. I take that as a good sign. We'll definitely be ordering from Gerhard Michler again for future events.

Yelp
Mary and Gerhard are terrific. My daughter was married in the Presidio in September. We wanted something unique and special for the wedding cake. Mary was delightful to work with - so helpful and ohhhh the taste test was amazing. We sampled the frostings, cakes, fillings and little desserts. It was so good, we decided to have it all - we settled on a combination of a small two tiered polka-dot wedding cake with marzipan frosting for cutting and four different type little desserts - the fresh strawberry and chocolate was my favorite. We had rave reviews from our guests on the wonderful little desserts - a little unconventional for a wedding, but perfect for us! Service was A+ from start to finish - we couldn't be happier and will definately use them again for our special occassions! Thanks for a terrifc job!

Yelp
I've ordered a flourless chocolate cake here and also picked up some of their single-serving premade cakes. The flourless choc cake was beautifully made and delicious -- not too heavy, not too fluffy. The four mini-cakes, however, were kind of bland and boring... not sure if they make them too far in advance? Also, for pick-up orders, the entrance can be SUPER hard to find -- you park by a loading dock with little signage and you will probably think you are in the wrong place. :)

Yelp
This is yet another AWESOME reccomendation from my caterer (Kristy with Union Street Catering) Mary was great, explained everything to me and the price was perfect! Oh and the cakes, fillings and frostings are amazing. I sampled everything they offerd and they were all great.

Yelp
These cakes are absolute perfection. I ordered the Tres Leches for my boyfriend's birthday and he absolutely loved it. It wasn't too anything, it was just right. The store owners were also very sweet and I got to sneak into the back and see them baking the scrumptious desserts. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I don't know how they do it. I've never seen a Gerhard looking fellow in this place and I'm pretty sure he's just a front for the army of hardworking asian ladies in the bakery but if that's the case, who effing cares? I'm actively against sweets. Can't stand em. I generally believe that if its not a meat or a starch it doesn't belong in my rapidly clogging arteries. This, however, sets the bar for fancy, delicious dessert-ery. Unbelievable. I don't remember the names of anything I've had from here but I will say anything you can get with raspberry mousse is gonna knock your pants off like a crack addled Mission district homeless person.

Yelp
We got our wedding cake and wedding desserts from their bakery. My family had a chance to sit down with Mary to do the tasting and initial planning but I never even got to meet Mary in person, as we live in TX. All our communication was done via email and Mary was very much on top of things. She was very organized and professional and usually very quick to respond. There was not a single moment when I felt scared or worried about the outcome. Execution was perfect, taste was amazing and all our desserts were gone before the end of the night, testament of how good everything was. I hope I will be in SF for our anniversary just so I can have a mini version of our wedding cake again. Thank you so much.

Yelp
I ordered a special birthday cake and communicated with Mary by email. All of our communications were straightforward and the cake was a masterpiece! I also want to add the cake (red velvet) was delicious. I am a native San Franciscan and this bakery is the best in the city & beyond.
