I love this place! The museum shows some really interesting items. There is even rooms set up from when it was a hotel I believe. There are craft events three times a year upstairs. At Christmas, there is a bigger event with German music, food and crafters. The gift shop has very nice items you can purchase as well. At Halloween there are walking tours of places said to be haunted and sinister histories in downtown. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.

Loved this place so much, but I am an army brat that lived in Germany. So it was like going back to my childhood.

I am a member & the staff here are wonderful to work with. I highly recommend looking at their 4th floor if you need to rent a space for a meeting or an event, like a bridal or baby shower. They also have beautiful ornaments from Germany on sale. Their events, like the walking tours, are fun & very informative.

Google
A very cool comprehensive museum on the German-American experience with a focus on the quad cities area of Iowa and Illinois. Great view of the millennium bridge from the top floor and many interactive displays to experience

What a gem! We had a 15 year old visitor from Germany who we thought might enjoy seeing this place, and it turned out all of us loved it, including my 11 year old and 13 year old. I will be back to spend more time reading the displays. Nicely done small museum!

The person behind the greeting desk was a little rude. The expressionist art was interesting, and they had a number of interactive exhibits but not a lot of actual historical items

We really enjoyed our visit to the German American Heritage Museum. The exhibits were fantastic, and had so much interesting information on the German experience in America. We learned things we never even knew before. The gift shop is excellent too!

Yelp
This was not on our list of places to visit when in town but after seeing good reviews we thought we would give it a look. The volunteer at the desk was very friendly and gave us a good overview. The entry price was modest. While not big the displays were well done and very interesting. I learned a lot about the emigration of Germans to the US and to this area in the 1800s. They made good use of technology to help tell the stories of these immigrants. It was well worth the hour or so of our time to explore this museum. Also a great job of saving this old historic building.

Yelp
This museum is incredibly informational, but very wordy! Be prepared to do a lot of reading! They do a very thorough job of covering German history and immigration to the US as well as specifically to the quad city area. They have a cute little gift store, mainly filled with items directly from Germany. Admission to the museum is definitely reasonable at five dollars a person and parking is free with its own dedicated parking lot.

Yelp
We came here to kill time before going to Quad Cities River Bandits game. This used to be a derelict hotel and now a museum. The museum is self guided as 2nd floor is offices and 4th floor an event center or small exhibits. My mom's side are German immigrants from 1800-1900's. They had cool videos depicting the German immigrants strife arriving in the USA. Sadly, many babies and children died aboard the ships. The museum is small and we were done after 30 minutes. Thought about buying a German flag but at $15, was overpriced in the gift shop. Admission was $5 for adults and $4 for seniors, aka my husband. Review 92 in 2023

Yelp
An absolute gem of a small museum. I learned so much how Davenport IA really flourished and thrived by all the German immigrants. Well worth a visit!

Yelp
" I Learned A Lot " I'm German/American myself so I was very interested in visiting the German American Heritage Center & Museum in Davenport, Iowa. The center is in a huge beautiful red brick building and is 1 block away from the Mississippi River. The Museum has many stories about the Germans Immigrant experience and them moving into the USA, and how hard it was to stay here permanently. The German American Heritage Center also had a new exhibit for everyone to enjoy for a few month the "Steam Circus: The Colorful World of Carousels"! My wife loved it ! Very nice and educational Museum.

Yelp
Stopped here to spend some time learning about the migration of Germans to America. The bottom floor is reception and gift shop. The 2nd floor is off limits and just offices. You have access to the 4th floor and can see a 270 degree view of the town and river. The 3rd floor is where the museum is located. Pick up a passport and follow one of the 4 immigrants through their travels from Germany to the US. We spent 2.5 hours here for $5 a piece. Lots to read and learn if you take your time.

Yelp
The museum is very nice and worth a visit. Unfortunately, their events are never successfull. They always seem disorganized and under staffed. I dont believe they have any one on staff that can run their offsite events. Such a shame! We desperately need these events in this area!
