Gero

"Although initially conceived as a more informal version of the famous Fasano, Gero is a welcoming combination of sophistication and simplicity. Here you’ll find a bright dining room with open-brick walls, a verdant tree growing inside it and well-thought-out lighting, where the classic Italian cuisine is showcased via fresh artisanal pasta made on the premises. The vanilla pannacotta provides the perfect finale!" - Michelin Inspector

I visited after multiple recommendations and reading the reviews but was left disappointed. Firstly they questioned my chino shorts which were perfectly smart, until the manager came past and said it was okay. The ambience was great, both indoors and out. The service was also good. But the food was very average. The salmon starter had a really chewy texture. The pasta with the tomato sauce was pretty much uncooked tinned tomatoes with some burnt basil and no seasoning whatsoever, an amateur cook could have made a better tomato sauce. The ravioli was nice, but unfortunately was swimming in tonnes of grease and oil and not the extra virgin kind. Perhaps I was unlucky, perhaps the normal chefs were off work but I was sad and disappointed with a meal that I was very much looking forward to.

This upscale Italian restaurant creates a fine dining experience with its dimly lit ambiance, setting the stage for an enjoyable evening. I began with a nice glass of Pinot Noir, paired with a selection of breads and dips. The off-menu tomato-based fettuccini pasta, mixed with sautéed veggies, offered a simple yet delicious and satisfying meal. The profiteroles all’Italiana dessert skillfully combined chocolate, hazelnut, and vanilla ice cream, which I genuinely enjoyed. The service met my expectations, providing a good overall experience. While nothing stood out as extraordinary, the meal was satisfying and well done.

It was my first time at Gero. The architecture takes you to a rustic Italian shed. Very well harmonized antique with a modern touch. Once we got there, the place was full and we were moved to the bar, and the table was cleared pretty quick. The service was EXTRAORDINARY at the table and bar. The menu is very traditional and we started with the "Il Vero Carpaccio", the presentation was great, and the flavor was ok. Since we saw the sign on the wall with "best lasagna in SP" from Quatro Rodas magazine, I decided to go with that option and my wife tried the Gnocchi with sausage that was suggested by the Maitre. Both plates were great. Not spectacular but great. As dessert, we had the "Profiteroles All'Italiana" that was amazing. We also had espresso coffee that we highly recommend since it comes with some cookie samples. That was a big hit. The restaurant in general was a 5 star, but I believed that the menu was overpriced for what they were serving and because of that, I'm giving a 4-star review.

One of my go to’s in SP. Always great food, service and very attentive mgmt. I’ve been going for 15 years and always pleases me and make me feel at home.

A beautiful looking restaurant with very nice ambiance but that’s all this place has to offer. We came in on a reservation and it took 5 minutes to get our table. Then we waited 20 minutes to get any waiter to come to our table and the place wasn’t busy. I literally had to get up from my chair twice to get a menu and then I looked for the manager but the waiter said he was “not there”. We finally got up and left. Then they decided to ask what we want but that was too late. They are very unorganized, poor training and/or lack of management looking over the operations. A terrible experience at Gero restaurant and I let our concierge know too so other guests do not experience what we had to.

Good quality food but service it’s not nice. When I arrived my booking was not in the system. I booked 1 week ago through Gero website I received confirmation email . I had to wait long time, after that the Wi-Fi was not working, before lunch I said them that I need Wi-Fi otherwise no lunch there, they said to me they do something for me but during the lunch I had no Wi-Fi. Unbelievable in a supposed 5 forks restaurant that is property of Fassano Hotel and recommended by Michelin….

Food is phenomenal management is on point very busy but the tables are located strategically well in my opinion. I highly recommend the Ravioli with buffalo mozzarella, exceptional selection of wines!

Yelp
I had the great pleasure of eating here with my best friend and traveling companion while we were in São Paulo in November. The food was amazing and we had a very enjoyable experience ! The service was good, but they were not in a hurry to get us out. So it was a long, languid dining experience. Loved all of the food and the amazing dessert. They had menus in both English and Portuguese which was helpful. If you go, plan to be there a while and enjoy every morsel!

Yelp
We liked the ambience. This restaurant could've been in NYC. The brick walls and dark wood furniture lent a certain sophistication to the restaurant. Service was impeccable, friendly and efficient. Our drinks came with zucchini chips - a nice touch. Our starters tuna carpaccio and arugula salad were deliciously refined and well-presented, especially the tuna. Our mains tortellini and linguine with clams were good. We'll be back to try one of their many risotti.

Yelp
Amazing, amazing restaurant. Stayed at the Fasano here in SP and thought we would go full circle and try one of their restaurants as well. My fiancé (brazilian and clearly knew what to order) had the lasagna special and it was something of a dream. I being the pumpkin-obsessed gringa that I am ordered the pumpkin ravioli curious how these Brazilians do it. Was sadly disappointed, but not disappointed because it was a bad taste but more so because it is very different from the pumpkin in the US. The tiramisu dessert was incredible, fresh mint tea was superb. Restaurant decor was in the style of Fasano with it's masculine, wood-y industrialist attitude...very beautiful. Whether you live in SP, traveling to, or completely foreign such as myself....do try!

Yelp
Spectacular food. Some of the best risotto I've eaten in my life anywhere. Great decor and just a great vibe all around. I would gladly eat there again.

Yelp
Phenomenal Italian in the Jardim neighborhood of a São Paulo. Impeccable in classic decor and exquisite service the food at Gero lives up to expectations. Several risotto dishes are on the menu. I especially enjoyed the porcini mushroom risotto.
