My first time here. We got Brownie fudge and Lemon cheesecake. Friends got Strawberry short cake and Tiramisu. My fudge brownie was excellent - took me 3 days to finish it. Very sweet and filling at the same time. Ordered regular coffee that didn’t taste great. Will surely go back, excellent customer service and atmosphere for friends to hang out!

Went out to try some local cakes. Tried the lemon coconut bar. Tried the coffee cake. Tried the fresh strawberry cake. Also try the carrot cake. Everything was good overall. The standout was the carrot cake & coffee cake!!

My daughter & I had a beautiful time eating our lunch together here !! We took cake home with us !! German chocolate cake yummy all the way !! Salads rock !! All the food is great !! Desserts are yummy for your tummy!! My daughter treated her mother !! I don’t think it’s polite to state how much was spent with the tip it was plenty!! It’s worth whatever u pay !! Just come and don’t worry about it !! Enjoy yourself!!! 🌹♥️🌷🙏

This place is absolutely amazing. We’ve lived in Salem for a year and I’m so sad it’s taken us a year to give it a try. We came here today for my twins 1st birthday and we had an absolutely amazing experience. The curry chicken salad is SO good. As well as the cheesecakes and cakes. Such an amazing selection. My husband ordered the chicken pesto panini and said it was also really delicious. We will definitely be back!

First time here. Delicious. Anyone who loves baked goods should definitely try this wonderful place. I felt like I was on cloud nine. I had the lemon blueberry cheese cake, friend had coconut cream cake, and a New York cheese cake. Fun secret in Salem. Skip dessert at the restaurant if you go out to eat and treat yourself here. Deliciousness is not on the super sweet side. Each bite melted, and when I ate my last bites several hours later. It still held up. Go, go, go and enjoy.

This is a great place to get some excellent dessert. Best cakes on this side of the Mississippi-and probably the other side too! They also have great sandwiches. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Always have had great service here as well. Stop in. Give them a try. You won’t regret it!

I tried to post in Salem Eats pages but both were deleted so I guess I’ll leave a review. We used to live the cakes here. However, in November and December we purchased two different chocolate cakes and they were awful. Not much flavor and SO dry! Definitely subpar and more quality control needs to happen.

Barney's blackout chocolate cake- absolutely ridiculous/ delicious. Rich and decadent chocolate overload. Moist with layers and layers of cake and frosting. I absolutely would not hesitate to get this cake again. German chocolate cake- Whitney was not happy with the lack of frosting between the 3 layers. The cake itself was moist and delicious. I don't think she would get it again. Overall, I'll absolutely be coming back for the blackout cake and possibly the carrot cake.

The food, a big bowl of soup, was tasty and filling! I ordered a half a dozen desserts to take with me to-go. The service and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The entire atmosphere was warm, friendly, and inviting!

Hey, Three Stars isn't above average or below, it's average. I'd go back. That said, desserts are where they shine. The lunch offerings were mediocre. Iceberg-heavy salad is right out of the 1970s, the Blue Cheese was a cut above though. The Lasagne wasn't bad, but not memorable either. Service is top notch, such a nice server and counter person. About 75% of customers were seniors, not a bad thing, just saying. Prices are fair. Nice overall vibe, I wish them continued success.

Delicious cakes here! We got some to eat in and to take home. Service is friendly and quick. Plenty of parking on the street and in the parking lot.

I was very surprised with Gerry Frank's Konditorei. It was large and spacious, with an open airy feeling of not being crowded. The place is clean, I mean really clean, like even the restrooms were immaculately clean. The main room floors are a soft vinyl type of square tile of the non-slip variety. Display cases are well lit and the treats, cakes and goodies are a real visual treat. There is an excellent variety of cakes and cheesecakes. Prices are very reasonable for slices and various brownies and biscuits. I've been to many bakeries and this one stands out in variety, menu, quality and service. There were three of us and there was about a 15 minute wait. Suddenly a staff member had different thoughts as she scooted some furniture around and made a place for the three of us with no waiting. It was also refreshing to walk into a bakery and see that they have enough products to where they didn't sell out in the first hour of the day. There was plenty! The seating area itself is very spacious with clean tables. There is plenty of room to navigate around the tables which makes it easier to go see the displays while you enjoy lunch. For lunch I had the Classic Clubhouse sandwich. It was a very large triple decker on wheat bread. It had bacon, ham, turkey, cheese, thick slice tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. It came with a pile of kettle chips. The flavors of the different meats and veggies is a fantastic blend of savory and salad. The ingredients were very fresh as well. I had a slice of the German Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert. It was very rich and dense. The strength of the chocolate was not overwhelming and the mixture of walnut, pecan and coconut was very pleasant and offered a light crunch to the cheesecake. There were so many delicious looking individual portions that we ended up with a large 'to go' box.

I came in with a friend to celebrate my birthday. The resturant was so cold even when wearing my winter jacket. My friend was also cold. We asked if the heat could been turned up. After about 10 minutes it was clear to us that heat was not turned up at all. We left. A few months ago I order a piece of cheese cake to bring home. The graham crust was so hard I could not even eat it with a fork, I had to get a knife to cut the crust. I will not go back again... maybe when it is warmer outside I will come for coffee.

I have ordered 2 cakes this past year. Twice I had to wait 20 minutes for the cake. Today's cake was for my husband's birthday. I waited and waited. It came. The guy said I had to get rid of the Christmas decor on your cake and that's why you see red on it. These cakes are so expensive. This cake is half a cake and it looks hideous cut in half . I will order Roths next time.

If you are in need of cake (and one can always find a reason to be in need of cake) this is the place to come. The selection is so good it's hard not to order a piece of each. I have only ever ordered dessert here but I'm sure the rest of the menu is good too. I don't live local but any time I come down to Salem or drive through on the way to anywhere else I always make time to stop in and purchase a couple pieces of cake. The service is helpful and efficient. It's easy to find parking (street parking or the lot behind the building) the atmosphere is kind of diner meets Italian restaurant but the cake is the real reason we're there. Plenty of locals have clearly come to the same conclusion. Put this on your list! You can thank me later, with cake.

I've been meaning to visit this place for quite a while, but I think I was avoiding it for the very reason that makes it so fabulous. The cakes! Oh my gosh. I KNEW it would be too tempting once I saw the gloriousness of being able to stare at two dozen or more ridiculously delicious-looking and artfully decorated cakes in the case before the big decision of what to order, and then finding out that the cakes taste as good as they look... Now every time I drive past there I will struggle not swerve into the little side street (plenty of parking in the street or behind the building) and rush in for a cake fix. So...went here this past week with a visiting friend. Marionberry layer cake and carrot cake were both excellent, fresh, soft, just the right ratio of icing to cake, and made us want to sample our way through the entire selection. Instead we showed a tiny amount of self-control and also each had a cup of Italian wedding soup, which hit the spot and let us pretend we weren't just there for the cake. Alright, yes, we WERE just there for the cake. As others have mentioned, the place is spotlessly clean and big enough inside that you have plenty of seating options to not be on top of fellow diners while enjoying your cake. Next time I have a dinner party, I will definitely be taking a cake home for guests.

amazing array of mouthwash dessert choices-you can't go wrong! since it was late, we opted for a cup of their wonderful decaf and enjoyed a nice visit-reminded me of spending time with a friend in a European cafe! PS: Staff is fast, helpful and friendly.

The service was friendly and prompt & the cake was delicious. We ordered altogether 8 different slices and everyone enjoyed their dessert.

I took my daughter out for a birthday cake and snack, I stood in the Please Wait to be Served line for 10 minutes and asked them if I could sit myself and wait. They said yes. We sat there for another 10 minutes and they told me to get to the back of the line and wait after people who had come in after me. I told them that I had been there before and they said to sit myself. I did not think that was very fair. Someone said just stay and I will bring the menu. 7 minutes later I got a menu. My daughter was upset at the service so we left. This has been a 25 year tradition.

We came here for after dinner dessert and there were not many people yet, so we found a place to sit and enjoy the food. The staff were nice and helpful in explaining the different choices. There is a lot of variety and every thing we had was very good. The lemon bar tasted like a mini lemon meringue pie and the crust was thick and firm. The chocolate cake, the macaroon, and German chocolate cake all very very good! Can't wait to go back and try other treats.

Desserts are always top notch. They are not so sweet you can't actually taste the flavors. Prices are worth the quality ingredients and not having to spend the time and effort on making my own. Cheesecakes are not just topped, they have flavor throughout and the cakes are moist and flavorful.

If you were rating Gerry Frank's on the food alone, they would be awarded four stars, as in: quite good, not amazing. But the cake. THE CAKE! Just gazing at those towers of butter and sugar makes my heart so happy! Cake by the slice is the best, and the cupcake craze of past years seems to have changed bakeries so it is difficult to find cake by the slice, but not so here! They also have cheesecake, tortes, and a variety of cookies, bars, brownies, etc. They offer day (or two) old slices at a discounted price of $3.95, and on our first visit they were so inundated with goodies that they had a BOGO offer, meaning we got four slices for (technically under) $2 piece. And they were fantastic! The only one that was a smidge dry was the After School, but I still munched it right up. Surprisingly, Champagne might have been my favorite. The white cake was so, so fine and light and just exactly what you want cake to be, and the frosting had such a lovely champagne flavor that really elevated it from a basic white cake. Gerry's chocolate was pretty darn great, though, while my husband favored the Snicker's Cheesecake. I enjoyed them so much I returned twice over the next few weeks and have since tried coconut, blackout, birthday, and the chocolate mousse cake. As a dedicated chocoholic I can't believe I'm saying this, but their white cakes with any kind of buttercream frosting are my favorite. If you are not nearly so inclined to gorge on sweets as I, the food really was quite good. For lunch, I had the curry chicken salad. It was yummy and large enough that I took some home. The hot chocolate was tasty too, with loads of whipped cream (and they make all sorts of coffee and related drinks as well). Prices are reasonable with plenty of options around $10, and none over $14. It's mostly sandwiches and salads, with a daily soup and quiche, as well as a lasagna option. Overall, I'd happily share a meal here again, but mostly, I'll be stopping by for a grab and go slice of cake (or 3!).

So many different types of cake! All delicious! The champagne raspberry was my favorite. For a white cake it is light and moist! Very quick service. Would definitely return!

I and my wife came here after a downtown dinner for dessert. We had a piece of coconut cake, a piece of cherry cheesecake (vanilla), and a piece of tuxedo cake. All three were outstanding, but the cheesecake was the star of the show. It was fresh baked with quality ingredients and presented beautifully. Don't skip this! The tuxedo cake was a close second and was delicious. The staff was helpful but they were running as fast as they could on a Thursday, 2 hours from close. All in all this was a great place with gorgeous and mouthwatering offerings. Definitely will return to try the other options.

Had two Slices of their cake. Both were good. But the champagne raspberry was beyond delicious. Hubby had the chocolate raspberry. It was delicious. But he preferred the champagne cake as well.

We are only just beginning! So much good stuff here to try! I'm sure they will continue to surpass my expectations! With wonderful service that's makes you feel welcome- we can't lose here. We had some chocolate cake with everything chocolate! They do it right and it was moist and so delicious! We love supporting business that embrace community and is welcoming to all!

We've been here 2 more times since my last review! One to pick up more cakes to bring home, and 2nd, for take-out picnic in the Bush House. Our lunch-to-go, we both had the Quiche Crab Asparagus and Clam Chowder. It was the best take-out lunch we've had since the pandemic began. It was filling! I only ate half of my Quiche and all of my Chowder so I have room for a bite of my cake. And of course, I was hungry by 5:00pm. We have ice pack bag, so I'm not worried about food getting spoiled, our walk was almost 3,000 steps, then we drove back to Portland, stopping for dinner-to-go in Hillsboro.

I walked into heaven here. Cake galore. Every flavor was available, chocolate, raspberry champagne, lemon, chocolate chip, vanilla birthday cake, coconut, red valvet, carrot and the list goes on. Three tiers of perfect texture cake, filled with butter cream, fillings and freshness. I pulled up this establishment on yelp and the direction were right on. We luckily found parking right up front, but the free parking seemed limited out front. The ambiance was perfect, clean tables and chairs, cute pictures on the wall and clean glass show casing the magnificent cakes. The cake lured me in, but the food was right on. We bought several sandwich and a salad and saved our cake for late night snack.

Amazing cake! Such a huge selection of cakes, cookies and bars. You can get cakes by the slice, decent pricing and great taste! Highly recommend

Great selection of sandwich items and lunch specials. The dessert selection is so good; really had a tough time choosing. They have delicious looking cakes and cheesecakes in great flavor combinations. We went with a slice of the Raspberry Lemonade cake and it was great.

What a GREAT, little place. Service was excellent and the staff were so friendly and kind--all of them! The cakes we got were delicious and even the macaroon was yummy! We'll be back MANY more times!

Wonderful cakes, cheesecake, deserts and coffee for a nice romantic date night or upscale dessert after dinner elsewhere. Friendly staff, nice cozy environment, and delicious treats abound. Spoil yourself and your loved ones and take them here at least once a month!

Good sandwich and soup, great dessert!! Glad we stopped on the drive from Portland to Eugene.

Peanut butter chocolate cheesecake is amazing!!! I just did pick up slices for me and co-worker. I can definitely recommend this place for desserts but not done food or dining here.

A great find! I'm glad it is in Salem and not closer to me or else I would be in trouble. The people behind the counter are super friendly and helpful. I am one to be overwhelmed by too many options and and too many options was the case here (but in a good way). There seemed to be a cake to satisfy whatever you are craving. You want chocolate? Barneys! It's chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. Make sure you a cup of milk to wash it down. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting, german chocolate cake, and more. You want fruity? They have fruity! I got a slice of fresh strawberry and was very happy with my choice. The frosting is a whipped frosting that was creamy and sweet. The cake itself was light and fluffy. Neither cakes we had were cloyingly sweet, but I definitely preferred the fresh strawberry. If anyone has ever tried Beaverton Bakery's strawberry champagne cake, I thought it came very close and was very nostalgic for me. I will definitely be back for more cake in the future. They also have other sweet treats cheesecake, brownie bars, cannolis. I'm telling you, something for everyone.

For those like me who love a slice of homemade cake, this bakery was a fantastic discovery. They have an awesome variety of cakes, from classic to more innovative flavors, making it very difficult for someone to make a choice! The cake slice portions are huge, so (unfortunately!), you are only able to eat one slice per meal. The bakery also serves breakfast and lunch. I had a slice the champagne raspberry cake and it was very delicate, moist and yummy. In my next visit to Salem, I will definitively go back to Gerry Frank's Konditorei to try other cakes!

Worth the calories!!! Never doubt yourself. Just enjoy every bite. You don't need regret. Gerry Frank's cakes don't count on the scale anyway.

A childhood favorite since I had Lives here. I moved long ago but make it back here every time I am in town to visit. Their champagne cake is on point. Too bad they can't ship to Cali!

This cute little place has been here a long time. I had a couple dates here 20 odd years ago. It really has not changed. It is sweetly decorated, they have nice staff, it is clean, there is a little parking lot and some on street parking. There were no drawbacks or issues. There are even a couple benches to sit down and wait when they are busy. Nice! My kid's dad and I ubered teens to Miyako Con in Keizer ( we live in Portland) and had time to kill so we had a light lunch here, of course we got cake, and we brought my teen a slice to eat at home. We hid it so the friends would not be jealous because we did not buy them any. We had bought them coffees earlier in the day...we are not MEAN exactly...just a little broke after giving our kid anime merch money. So sssh don't tell on us! Our slices of cake ( coconut, raspberry lemonade, chocolate raspberry) were all huge and delicious. My coconut slice was fluffy, moist, and light with creamy light frosting. The other two slices were moist and delicious too. And the pieces were big! Really one piece shared would have worked except that way you only get to try one flavor. My ex said there oughta be a cake flight of six little pieces so you can try a bunch. I said, or bring more people and share :) Next time! Maybe we will even let the friends have some. P.S. I read that bakers in Stayton purchased the Konditorei in 2018 after having baked deserts for them for years. The cakes are not made on site but they are locally baked, not produced in a factory as another yelper mistakenly reviewed.

Ordered the 6" champagne raspberry cake. Cake was dry and a lot of frosting. A little too much for me.

Best place in town for cake, cheese cake or specialty bakery items. Staff is always nice and quick to help... they have such a good variety, it's one place I can go and always leave with something I will enjoy.

Our food and service were outstanding. Wow we haven't had cake like that in years and years! I highly recommend!

My daughter in law is a great baker and has amazing decorating skills. I wanted her to have a beautiful AND delicious cake for her birthday. My son entrusted this important detail in my hands for a surprise. Konditorei did not disappoint. She loved it and my son was beaming with pride. Mom did good!

Delicious and well worth the stop! Lots of different choices. I did notice they had a few gluten-free options too. Friendly service. Would make time to stop again on our way through.

5 friends and I met at 11:30 today for an early lunch anticipating good food and a chance to chat with each other. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, generous portions and a wealth of desserts on offer. However, very quickly, the noise level rose and we were unable to hear each other even as we sat around a very small table. Certainly NOT a good place to meet friends and catch up with each other!

The perfect place for a slice of cake! The service is great and the ambiance is awesome.

Another place my son brought us for dessert after dinner. I ordered the Marionberry Cheesecake and my son had the Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. The slices were really large, and we couldn't finish it. Next day's breakfast :) I would have love to order coffee with it, but I didn't want to be up all night... This place has a lot of different cheesecakes, cakes and pastries. It was so hard to decide on which ones we wanted to try. We'll just need to come back and try more flavors.

We really liked this bakery. It reminds me of an old world European bakery to some degree. It's not so much pastries, they have as it is cakes, and they have lots of options! After hemming and hawing, we opted for a variety of things to try - the caramel pecan cheesecake, strawkberry cake, coconut cream cake, and chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. All of them were really good. They have discounted prices on some pre-cut slices, which was a great deal too. We'd come back again.

Food, ambiance, PASTRIES!!! Highly recommend everyone try this place out, so yummy!!!
