Beloved San Francisco Ice Cream Company Humphry Slocombe Is About to Expand in a Big Way | Eater SF

"I'm hearing that Gestalt, a mainstay on 16th Street where people enjoy a pint with pinball, is up for sale; owner Dan Hawkins confirmed there is already one potential buyer and the deal could happen in the next month. I also noted that nearby businesses Kilowatt Bar, Bond Bar, and Firepie have changed hands in recent months." - Paolo Bicchieri

San Francisco Bars With Great Arcade Games - Eater SF

"16th Street beer-drinking den Gestalt Haus has an admirable pinball lineup buzzing and whirring away at all hours. Choose something from the lengthy tap list and get those fingers tapping away." - Caleb Pershan

Great bar that has friendly patrons as well as lots of entertainment. You will often find love entertainment on the weekends, and always loads of pinball. Bar has quite the selection of craft beers, and bar staff are knowledgeable to help find your perfect pint.

We absolutely loved this bar! Great atmosphere and music. Excellent beer selection! Shout out to the owner/bartender for making us feel welcome and chatting with us! Also, his dog is there, who doesn't love a good doggo at a bar? Definitely a worth while stop.

Great Beer selection, fun pinballs, friendly staff and pretzels and sandwiches to top it off! The only con... the restroom! A urinal (or two) would be nice! Still 5 stars because the beer selection is just great and the staff rock! CASH ONLY!!

Gestalt continues to be one of my favorite dives to visit in town. The bartenders are always great and the tap list is solid.

Great place to hang out with beer to shoot the breeze with your friends. They didn't have any food at the time, so we asked if it was okay to bring some. Came back with food from nearby and had a fun time chatting at a table with friends and playing pinball. The blueberry was yummy! Crowd definitely skews to the younger side (20s and 30s) but we didn't feel out of place.

I can't believe it was 2007 that this place opened, time flies. I used to be a regular at this place when I was, you know, young and fun. It was like a mini-Rosemunde, a cool bar to gather for beer and brats with friends mid-week. Back then, it wasn't clear that this place was gonna make it though, it was empty a lot. And then they added the indoor bike racks and everything changed. You see, the sad thing is that for any Mission dive bar to succeed, it has to attract some portion of hipsters, that had to be part of the revenue stream. So when they put those bike racks in, it was like hipster bait. Now this place us teeming with hipsters, and they've expanded their menu and beer selection as a result. In the end, this is still a very fine dive bar and now a stable in the Mission landscape. Lots of good memories here for me and it's cool to see a whole new generation forming their own ones now.
