San Francisco’s Iconic ‘Ghirardelli’ Chocolate Company Sign to Go Dark | Eater SF

"I learned that Jamestown Properties, which has owned the Fisherman’s Wharf–adjacent tourist destination Ghirardelli Square since 2013, will remove the structure’s massive "Ghirardelli" sign piece-by-piece in the coming days and erect a new sign later this summer. The sign is a landmark that also advertises the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, which, per its website, was launched in the 1800s by Domenico Ghirardelli as "Ghirardely & Girard," making it the third-oldest chocolate company in the U.S. The company eventually bought a city block previously occupied by the Pioneer Woolen Building and turned it into a candy-making factory, and as part of the 1915 World’s Fair the huge "Ghirardelli" sign was added to the structure. Even after the Golden Grain Macaroni Company bought Ghirardelli in the 1960s, moved chocolate production to a building in San Leandro and flipped the former factory, subsequent owners converted the building into Ghirardelli Square, a restaurant and retail space that the city later named an official landmark, and the gigantic "Ghirardelli" sign continued to shine. Jamestown says the sign has suffered persistent "electrical failures" in recent years, so workers will remove the sign letter-by-letter, transport it to an offsite facility, and build a replacement to be revealed later this summer—so if you notice the old sign missing in part or in whole, now you know why." - Eve Batey

Tucked between a quiet neighborhood and a commercial area, this Ghirardelli outlet is a quaint little gem. Not too crowded but always busy with people coming to grab some chocolate or to sit down to enjoy a sundae ice cream treat. Plenty of spaces in the parking lot when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Its fun to try all the ice cream flavors but I had the Strawberry Passion this time and I enjoyed every spoonful of it. The great thing is that its not sugar overkill even with the chocolate, caramel, and other sweet ingredients used, it hits the right combination. The prices of the sundaes have gone up and the amount you get have gone down over the years and that is always sad to see, but we come here as a family once in a while just to enjoy a nice time out together.

This is my first time at this place. I’ve never heard of this location as it’s hidden among neighborhoods. A beautify and cozy place with plenty of chocolate collection and a cafe for dessert. Their service was good and they had unique gift collections. Resembled the main factory in San Francisco but this place was less crowded and similar.

Janai W.

Google
Quiet, hidden gem for a cold summer treat. They have ice cream treats of all kinds, with a particular focus on sundaes. The cones are very big for a kid. My scoop of ice cream was a bit frozen with ice crystals. The chocolate is different and you may want to get a taste first.

Google
Factory by the highway, in the neighborhood. Not fancy but they have the products at a better price and the best part is, they sell ice cream! They have a big enough parking lot and the quality is good.

Sandeep Kumar G

Google
The best place to visit with family to eat mouth watering ice cream chocolate, fudge, brownies and hot chocolate with limited menu options for mocha and late. Non-dairy option is available and but the complete range of Ghirardelli chocolate products.

Google
This place is a hidden treasure for chocolate lovers! You can buy the these famous chocolate squares and now you can also enjoy a sundae or milkshake when you come. I wish the prices were not so high so that everyone did not have to buy a $9 milkshake but instead enjoy the factory with a discounted rate of $1

Google
Overall, its great. Had their World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae and a chocolate cookie. Overall its a bit pricey - like fancy diner prices. But it was one of the tastiest deserts ever and met expectations. Gave 5 stars for the memorable experience. Customer service is good too. Parking and seats were very few, but when I went, it wasn't crowded. Would recommend to friends and colleagues.

Google
Dropped by for the first time. I didn't even know this place was here. I only knew about the one in SF. The place looks like it's in an industrial area, but I did see some housing across the street. Once inside you can see all the stuff they sell / make. We ordered the banana split and loved it. It was perfect, but a bit pricey. We ended up buying some chocolate too. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Great place to buy Ghirardelli's squares to make your own gift baskets. The team members are always helpful and friendly. They have an ice cream shop and features the "Dubai Chocolate Sundae." Super rich, super big and something to share.
google avatar

Yelp
I always enjoy visiting the Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop at the Factory Store with my family. It's a cute hidden gem in San Leandro. We were warmly welcomed upon entering. The sale signage is clear - the Dubai chocolate stand caught my attention. We ate mini-sundaes and purchased holiday gifts in the provided clear boxes. In the ice cream shop there were ample seats for the families present and a single bathroom. The store and tables were clean, despite the foot traffic. The cashiers were also pleasant and helpful.
google avatar

Fiona T.

Yelp
The shop is tucked away in some streets that you wouldn't think to turn into unless you had a reason to. There's a small lot in front to park in. After, you walk up the ramp, following the Ghirardelli signage. The first part of the shop is where packaged chocolate is. Past that is the counter where your order is taken and prepared. It's a casual spot. I came by for the Dubai style chocolate sundae. It's pretty pricy at $20. When I picked it up from the counter, melted ice cream was overflowing out of the cup, making a mess. The vanilla ice cream was good and the chocolate was good, but the toasted kataifi was really salty.
google avatar

Anthony H.

Yelp
The Ghirardelli outlet in San Leandro has a small storefront selling discounted chocolates. The main attraction is the ice cream bar in the back. The price of the sundaes though doesn't seem to be discounted. The Dubai chocolate sundae is almost $20 and a mini sundae is still around $13. The Dubai chocolate sundae was way too sweet even for my sweet toothed 13 yr old daughter. She had a little bit and had to dump the rest of it away. The mini classic sundae was the right size for me but I still had a sugar rush from consuming the thing. We needed water afterwards to clean our palate, but the staff was too busy and after waiting for about 10 minutes, we gave up. We liked the atmosphere of a classic ice cream bar but didn't like the high price and high sweetness of the sundaes.

Yelp
We had brunch in Hayward and was looking for a dessert place that wasn't so far. Was so glad to find Ghirardelli San Leandro ... didn't have to drive to sfo . It's a little challenging to find but the gps tells you to go in a gated area. The factory is at the back but it was closed with gates. I couldn't find the snacks area until I asked . It was covered with a big wall! Well... no people except us and they were stocking new ones so it felt good! We were given a chocolate each for free! And there were on sale chocolate packs at $3.00... leftovers from Halloween . And the. The sundae! Sinful and deadly but it was definitely shareable ! Got some 50% coupons for December sale! I will be back.
google avatar

Paulie L.

Yelp
The annual warehouse sale deals weren't as good as I expected. There were different flavors I've never seen but really not that good of deal, some where cheaper at Target and Costco. Meh.
google avatar

ronadette c.

Yelp
If you're craving for some Dubai chocolate sundae, you have to come here! Service was quick. Their menu was pretty straight forward. You can get your favorite Ghirardelli chocolates by the pound or you can mix and match also.
google avatar

Irena S.

Yelp
Honestly I'm shook that we have this so close by in San Leandro, it feels like a little hidden gem. Came here for dessert earlier today and got the mini hot fudge sundae ($12 ish). They have discounted chocolates, milkshakes, etc. Pros: - delicious ice cream and hot fudge sundae. I felt like the mini was already a pretty big size and the regular size sundaes would've been too much - easy parking lot, not crowded - Quick fast service - Casual vibes, almost like a casual restaurant inside with lots of tables you can sit at. Cons: - can be on the "pricier" side for the sundaes, but they are pretty huge so you can definitely share one with a partner. Portions are huge which can be tough if you're watching your health LOL

Chi L.

Yelp
Went on 12/5 and they have lots of inventory. 3lbs of chocolate squares/candy mix 30$. This woukd be a good deal if you have the time to make goodie bags. But as an outlet store I dint find deals on the packaged chocolate or baking confections. I was disappointed and walked out not buying because their deals were maybe $1 cheaper than. What your find in a store.
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
This Ghirardelli outlet is pretty cool! tucked away in the middle of an industrial area. The staff mentioned they actually make the chocolate here, but unfortunately the factory itself isn't open to the public. A tour would've been cool! Or even chocolate tasting at the end of the tour. Also, Since it's an outlet the staff told us that the chocolate in the retail shop is cheaper compared to Ghirardelli Square, but the café prices for sundaes and drinks are about the same. The place was clean, much less crowded than Ghirardelli Square, and overall very enjoyable. We shared a sundae and really liked it.
google avatar

Henry H.

Yelp
If you want Ghirardelli without the tourist crowd and the wait, this is the place! They pretty much have the same menu, same price but with much more space and barely anyone to compete for a table. They do have a smaller store with a variety of chocolate things. Since it is a factory, what would of been great is if they had a factory tour of how they made their chocolate.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Be warned ALL SALES FINAL There are two cash register counters. One has a small sign off to the side. The other has nothing Tiny print on receipt. Buy only what you need. This is not customer friendly like Costco, REI and many other businesses Would be one star, but the products are good
google avatar

Ashley Z.

Yelp
I didn't realize they sold ice cream sundaes at this location. So much more convenient than going to SF. I will for sure visit this often since I visit the San Leandro area often. Their strawberry sundae is really good!
google avatar

Kai W.

Yelp
If you like chocolate and want to snag a sweet deal for tasty gifts for family and friends this will be the place. Fun little tasting room for ice cream Sundaes as well if you have time for a snack after shopping. Just be mindful of the expiration dates on the items, most of the factory deals have best by dates that are 1 to 3 months out so make sure to check if you are buying gifts in advance! There is a convenient small parking lot in front of the building that generally does not fill up. Worth checking out if you happen to be in te San Leandro area!
google avatar

Kalaisri S.

Yelp
Such an relaxing ambiance with great service. Barista seemed so relaxed & happy. Totally worth it than the SF experience

Yelp
Local Luxury ice clean location! I brought my kids here for the first time and they were fascinated with this place. We were immediately greeted . The service was amazing!!! They took care of us knowing it was our first time and shared the non dairy options . The ice cream was top tier! Enjoyable with the toppings they added too. This will be a special spot to bring my kids once in a while. I appreciated the cleanliness so much and it was sooo spacious. My stroller fit that's a 10/10 .

Yelp
A San Francisco MUST! If you can't get to Ghirardelli Square in SF, this is the next best thing! The hot fudge sundae is the absolute best in person (as the hot fudge sauce sold in the jar has a different taste) but they are definitely on the pricy side at a whopping $15.95 ea now. Great for a once in a while treat!

Cres L.

Yelp
Hi The employees have No Customer Service Skills. I requested Hot Chocolate with Whip cream, instead it wasn't added. I asked for more whip cream or whip when we ordered. Guy at the counter would not give me Whip. There are so many better Cafes with much better Ice cream & desserts. I live in Berkeley and we have the BEST cafes for Drinks and Chocolates.
google avatar

Jerica H.

Yelp
Came for the warehouse sale! All the staff I encountered from parking lot to cashier were very kind and welcoming. Lots of deals on the products in the store. Thought it was too early for a Sunday but may visit another time!! The store was very clean and organized and the staff was constantly stocking up the products that were moving! And as always, the free chocolate square for visiting is the best shopping treat!

Yelp
I've always been ambivalent about ice cream sundaes and never quite a fan of hot fudge. Before you jump to any conclusions, it's safe to say my mind hasn't been significantly swayed after visiting this Ghirardelli factory store. After all, there's only so much Wow! factor you can have with a chain like Ghirardelli and a recipe that consists of ice cream, chocolate, and a topping or two. If you're a fan of these things though, you'll have a good time. Subbed out the mint scoop in the Mint Bliss Sundae for strawberry and threw an extra dipped strawberry on top for good measure. Their base sundaes start at a hefty $15, but I justified it by considering I wouldn't be visiting frequently anyway (may also have been enticed by the smell of chocolate from all the way down the street). The shop section is typically sized for a Ghirardelli store, with a main island surrounded by shelves of other Ghirar-goodies, but the eating section could be a warehouse on its own with how much seating there was. They're definitely understaffed, which isn't a problem on the service staff's fault, but in spite of this deliver some pretty terrific customer service in both sections. I came before it was too busy (weekday 2:30PM) but I'm sure this could affect them during peak hours. If you can't make it to SF, this place can definitely hold its own.

Yelp
Chocolate Lovers sundae was really good, and super chocolaty. Total was $16 before tip for 2 scoops of ice cream, fudge, whip cream, etc. A nice treat. Two stars off for service which could be better. There were 2 staff and no customers when I walked in. After I ordered and paid another customer walked in, and up behind me. Before I could put my money away the server asked the person behind me if she could help her? I didn't care for that since I expected her to make my dessert. There were 2 other registers and another staff who was doing nothing. In my opinion the other staff could have helped the next customer or the customer could have waited her turn. Especially since the same person taking the money also makes your dessert. At the very least ask the existing customer if they mind you helping other customers before making yours. All customers deserve to feel special - Especially at those prices. The place sits back off the street and it took a couple passes to figure out the entrance location. Lol. I probably would go again if in the area.

David T.

Yelp
Service here is horrible, what happened with service with a smile? Asked for 2 cherries on our Sundai and cashier charged me $2 without telling me it was extra. Just ridiculous, why not tell someone up front the cost before charging them?
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
You might not think you are at the right place as the signage is not that visible from the street. Follow your maps to the parking lot of a building that just looks like a warehouse. But you will be in the right place. Parking is easy here! There is a good selection of chocolates bars, squares and seasonal selections. There are bulk items, gift packages along with the mix and match section. In the back there is an ice cream parlor with great selection of ice cream, sundaes and hot chocolate. Easy to make purchases and the chocolate smells are great!

Gena O.

Yelp
Ok great place to hang out Too little choice and expensive. If they improve should be much better
google avatar

Rita K.

Yelp
I feel like so many folks who live in the east bay rarely go here because it's not advertised as often and it's out in an unassuming location near residential and in a big warehouse. There's an outlet store here AND they have an ice cream shop inside! I highly recommend coming here for their sundaes - no need to go to SF for them anymore! It's located in a warehouse, but you'll see signs to their ice cream shop. Limited parking, we came here on a Saturday 5pm and there were barely anybody here. Love their ice cream sundae menu from the classic world famous hot fudge sundae to the mint one. They're quite pricey, at $15 each, but they're more than enough for 2 hungry folks. You can probably split it 3 ways. My nephew got the brownie sundae - he ate half and was beyond stuffed! They have plenty of seating inside with tables. There's a chocolate shop to purchase all kinds of Ghirardelli chocolates, souvenirs, baking products, and more.

Yelp
Honestly tell everyone the truth this location has the same products , taste, prices and service but just the location and weird entrance docked a star for me on my first visit . I never really knew that San Leandro had a Ghirardelli choc outlet. It's ok the order pretty much with Oakland, not the safest of cities and on top of it in totally industrial area. The entrance is odd- a huge gate for deliver trucks which I say many people like me mistake as the main entrance for sundaes and the gift store. It's for employees etc. it they have a speaker mic phone so I asked them how to get in and the lady on the other end kindly told me I was on the wrong side. The main entrance is looks like a back loading dock and the signage is minimal. That was the only hiccup on my first visit to the SL locations. My favorite locations in order are the flagship world famous S.F. , then Tracy, then Lathrop then lastly this one in San Leandro .I can get the chocolates at stores but not the sundaes. They are way overpriced btw around $14-15 for a sundae. I don't eat them all the type so it's ok. I get my favorite , the mint brownie. If I'm headed for the OAK airport or in the general 880 freeway area I will head over but I won't go out of my way just or visit this one. 4/5
google avatar

Sheryl P.

Yelp
What a nice treat after a basketball game for my little man. We didn't have to go to SF to enjoy some sundae with the family. How did I not know this place is near our place. This place is clean and plenty of place to sit down and enjoy your treat.
google avatar

Malu B.

Yelp
Great place to get ice cream and chocolates. They have lots of flavors. Parking is easy.

G K.

Yelp
I finally made it to Ghirardelli to try their Dubai-Style Chocolate Sundae. Super creamy vanilla ice cream layered with generous amounts of pistachio spread with crunchy kataifi, and hot fudge. You get multiple layers of that creamy-sweet-salty-crunchy combo, and it just works. The portion's big enough to share. It is pricey at around $20, but honestly, Dubai chocolate bars can run close to that (or more) -- and this sundae is absolutely worth it. The store's a little hidden, but if you're in the area, it's worth seeking out.
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
Had no idea this was here! It's easy to miss the entrance, google maps had us going to the other side so watch for the signs to the parking lot. It's also where the 18 wheelers will back up so it looks like you're in the wrong area, just go thru the gates. It has a little shop at the front when you enter. Then towards the back is the cute small ice cream parlor. We each got something different- all delicious and a lot to eat. Feedback would be to install a visual number system Staff calls out your number and when they have masks on, you can't hear or read their lips. Just having that makes it all accessible.
google avatar

Dawn L.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood and had to stop in! I had a smaller size of their classic hot fudge Sunday and it was delicious! The hot fudge is so good and the employees were super attentive and helpful. I didn't have time to shop the chocolate store, but they had lots of their chocolates there and I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Lynn W.

Yelp
There were flavors so unique that we had to try. Price was better than supermarket. You can lose yourself here. It is affordable and cheaper than the store, UNTIL you see how much you bought and how much you paid because you're from out of town and don't want to miss out. Service was excellent. Place is very clean and good for weekday visits. Worth a visit and more. Go see them if you're nearby.
google avatar

Nikhita P.

Yelp
The chocolate sundae at Ghirardelli is an absolute treat. Creamy ice cream, rich hot fudge, fluffy whipped cream, and crunchy nuts all come together perfectly. It's sweet, gooey, and totally satisfying -- the kind of dessert you'll be thinking about long after it's gone.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
I was challenge to get some ice cream from Ghirardelli. All their entrances are locked up for employees and you need permission to get in and then when I ordered an ice cream a cone one scoop cost 8.95 and they wanted to charge me three dollars more for a cone so that would be 11.95 for an ice cream cone-- really?
google avatar

Renee F.

Yelp
We only live a few blocks from the Ghirardelli factory but have only visited before the ice cream parlor expansion. Prior to this visit, there was just a small retail area where you could purchase chocolates and some novelty items. WOW what a transformation. The new space is really opened up and has an ice cream counter and about 6 tables to eat there. Plus extra room for more candy selections. The ice cream sundaes were delicious but somewhat pricey, around $14 each. However for a special treat they were good. I had the Gold Rush (vanilla ice cream, with caramel sauce and nuts, topped with whipped cream, caramel sauce and a Ghirardelli white chocolate caramel filled candy) My boyfriend had the Mint Chocolate Sundae (Mint Chip ice cream, hot fudge topped with whipped cream and a Ghirardelli Chocolate mint candy)
google avatar

Anna D.

Yelp
It was my first time here, and a coworker (we work close by and the decadent aroma of the chocolate permeates our building) mentioned I should come here. No regrets as the mocha was absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Angie K.

Yelp
This is a great location outside the crowd of the city (SF). It's a little odd in that it's in the middle of what appears to be a warehouse district, and if you put "San Leandro" into the website you STILL have to scroll pretty far down to find the address for this one. Sneaky, they seem to really want to force you into the city. The cafe is an sundae/hot chocolate/sipping chocolate/etc cafe, don't expect there to be things beyond desert. Everything we had was quite good - the sipping chocolate is amazingly rich, so be ready! The sundaes were delicious with piles of hot fudge and the ice cream just feels very very decadent. The seating area is pretty small however. The staff was very friendly and made sure to great us when we came in. Good location for some treats and also to get any of your Ghirardelli candies, cocoa, trinkets just like you would in any of the shops elsewhere. A tiny but disappointing that for an 'outlet' the prices aren't any different but if you're over in this area, it will at least save you the hassle of having to head across the bridge.
google avatar

kimberly C.

Yelp
Shop Is just like a regular Ghirardelli ice cream shop with expensive prices for a sundae ($14 for a small sundae) - choc chips were $1 less than Safeway. Not worth it in my opinion to shop here.
google avatar

Doug E.

Yelp
Solid place to get an attitude adjustment with chocolate. I've always been of fan of Ghirardelli since I was a kid. It brings back fond memories of their SF digs from decades ago. They've grown up and so have I. But their quality for putting out mouthwatering sweets remains. I ended up with packs of chocolate square that limits my consumption. It's great to count the piles of wrappers and visually gauge when I've had too much. Each variety is wrapped in different colors too; which makes my intake more balanced versus just dark chocolate. For those who like white chocolate, I wouldn't be able to provide any help as I don't categorize that at chocolate whatsoever. White chocolate = waste of calories in my book. But I'm the only one reading so... What I was happy to try was the ice cream sundaes. I had the standard hot fudge and it was great. Rich ice cream and smaller size so not as guilty when I was done. My standard for frozen confections is pretty high so this was solid and I'd get it on a shopping trip but not enough to make a special trip. Will try time other items in the dispute to see if they can flip my opinion. Solid choice coming here.
google avatar

Sue L.

Yelp
If you're craving Ghirardelli, and don't want to go to the one in the city, this is the better alternative! It's less crowded and has what you need. The location is in the middle of a bunch of warehouses but the biggest perk is that they have free parking! They have sundaes and banana splits! We shared a Strawberry Sundae. The ice cream was icy and the fudge hardened (most likely to prevent the ice cream from melting). It's on the pricier side but you are essentially paying for their brand. They also have chocolates for purchase too!
google avatar

Sistine M.

Yelp
Yesssss! I wanted a Ghirardelli sundae and remembered the factory now has a little treat shop. Craving satisfied and just as good as SF. There are a few tables to sit, but the place isn't that big. The staff was nice, the place was clean and the sundaes were so yummy. They close at 8pm everyday. I think we might have gotten there at about 7:45pm. They didn't mind that people were still finishing up their ice cream after 8. They didn't rush us either. I'll be back next time I have a cheat day!

Sheena R.

Yelp
My, I hate to admit but I'm giving my visit two stars because it smelled really yummy when you first walk in. I'm still trying to figure out how do you go wrong with ice cream? This is probably the first time in my 55 years of life that I've had an ice cream sundae that was absolutely horrible. A cup of fudge, with two tablespoons size scoops of ice cream, a pinch of nuts, topped with a taste of whipped cream for the ridiculous price of $16. Yelp, $16... completely overpriced and embarrassly overrated.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Good prices, great deal on holiday themed chocolate. Sale takes place the day after xmas. Non holiday themed bags are discounted when multiples are purchased. Front of store is set up like all Ghirardelli choc shops/stores. Back is a small sundae shop. As usual the sundaes are filling and fabulous. The workers are super friendly and helpful. There is a greeter who tells you where everything is and is knowledgeable if you have questions. This is by far a hidden gem, no crowd and worth the drive over for chocolate needs, gifts and a awesome dessert while there. PSA: There is an annual warehouse sale. The sale is at least 20% and takes place inside the warehouse.
google avatar

Cindy W.

Yelp
The Ice cream sundaes were delicious. They added just the right amount of fudge and was not stingy on the scoops of ice cream. The different varieties of nostalgic chocolate squares to choose from was fabulous. I got to snag some 50% off Caramel Easter bunnies. The only downsides was, there were not enough seats for us to sit and enjoy our treats and they were a bit slow in making 2 sundaes and a Quake Shake. Be ready to pay around $12-16 per sundar. Other than that, I would definitely come back.
google avatar

Moji O.

Yelp
The air smells like sweet goodness miles away!!! If you want a Ghirardelli chocolate cookie or Sundae here is the place! We devoured our Sundae in minutes. There's something about the gooey chocolate fudge that is perfect on Friday afternoon kicking off one of the last summer weekends. Our cashier was so sweet and thorough during our ordering process. The sundae was ready in mere minutes from tapping my Apple Pay. We were greeted on the way in and were greeted on the way. We will definitely be back for more treats. And Christmas shopping everyone should indulge in this good chocolate. They have everything for the family.

Yelp
A true hidden gem in San Leandro! Like in the middle of warehouses and a neighborhood but then again it is a factory so I guess that makes sense. Lots of parking within their gates but also on the neighborhood streets. They also just recently added the ice cream cafe which is a nice touch. My friends and I stopped by for an evening ice cream sundae. Similar to other Ghirardelli cafes, they offer a variety of sundaes, hot chocolates/coffees, and milk shakes. Most sundaes range from $10-15 and are decked out with multiple scoops and allll the toppings. Definitely enough to share between 2-3 people. There is a small seating area but I don't think I've ever seen it so busy that you can't find a seat. Then we get to all of the Ghirardelli chocolate products. Buy individual squares, buy bags, buy chocolate bars - so many options! The best thing about this factory store is that everything is so much cheaper than if you were to buy it at other stores. If you go after the holidays (like now) they mark down the bags of their holiday flavors as high as 90% off! That's less than $1 a bag! Plus every so often they'll have a factory sale (semi annual I think?) with even more discounts. As long as this factory store is here, I don't think I'll ever buy Ghirardelli anywhere else.

Yelp
We're stopping by here around 9am Saturday. This outlet is very organized and has variety flavors! The staff here very nice and greeted to us. She explained the cost of each item as well as showed us how to purchase chocolates if we decide to pick a variety bag ourselves. She also clarified that the food bar is open the same time the store opens so if you're in the mood for early ice cream, that is also an option available to you. The overall price of the items aren't bad and since it's currently the holidays, there are some promotions going on where you can pick up as much chocolate as you want for $23 if you'd can stuff those holiday bags up to capacity.

Yelp
Years ago, I would go here during the winter to get large cannisters of hot chocolate that you add to milk. Unfortunately, they no longer off the hot chocolate this way. They have cannisters, but it's only for the coffee. Trying to find the bright side, I was able to get smaller packets of hot chocolate (picture attached). The prices are reasonable, and this location is convenient for a chocolate urge. They also offer ice cream, including sundaes. I have yet to try their ice cream. Here's What I Think... If you're in need of smooth chocolate and you haven't seen the flavor you want in the store, give it a try. I hadn't seen the Gingerbread one in the regular box stores, but they had it here.
