I visited Ghirardelli Square today with my employees, and we had a wonderful experience! We tried a variety of treats, including the brownies, caramel milkshake, and their world-famous Treasure Island dessert. The portions were generous, but everything was absolutely delicious. Despite the large servings, we enjoyed every bite. It’s a perfect spot to indulge in sweet cravings and enjoy a nice time with friends or colleagues. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to treat themselves!”

Once you reach the shop just walk upstairs or you can walk a little to the parking which has an easy access to the upper level specially for the parents with strollers. You can try the delicious ice creams at this location with variety of options to choose from. There is no chocolate factory at this location. The factory is now converted into a hotel now. There is a small beach location just opposite to the store at the street level where you can relax and enjoy your ice creams.

Really nice little plaza. You van find at least 3 Ghirardelli Spots or stores. One is a restaurant and the others are like a store and cafe and another an ice cream shop. When you go upstairs its really nice because there are more little shops. There is also a clean restroom. Parking is difficult nearby and expensive. Staff is nice. You can find a lot of assorted chocolates and treats and also souvenirs from San Francisco.

Ice creams are very delicious and rich. Ordered a bunch. The service was pretty quick on a Wednesday evening. Parked in their parking, and got a 50% off if you spend I believe 25$ or more in one of the restaurants there, so costed me 9$ after the discount.

Nice place to visit with kids in San Francisco. We took our toddler and she was super excited to see the chocolates. We could buy the chocolates by weight or pre-made packets. We also got to try the world famous hot fudge sundae and it was delicious. Would recommend this place if you have a sweet tooth.

A must visit place in San Fransisco, especially if u are a chocolate addicted. Really love the Christmas Decoration in the square, and plenty resto so the place is suitable to fuel up your stomach yeah There is also beverages with chocolate base. On the other hands, the shop offers many kinds of chocolate for u to enjoy. The chocolate is affordable, i bought 4 big bars for $15 and 1/2 pound of square chocolate for $13. Near the restroom, there is a tap water.

So, I didn't actually have the chocolate! But, it was a great spot for shopping and lunch with many different options for both. We were there for fleet week and had a spectacular view of the blue angel fly overs from our table. The main square was festivly decorated for fall and the atmosphere was indescribable with the excitement of the airshow. There were options for all ages, from arcades to brewerys. We will definitely be back when we visit San Francisco.

Came here as a tourist and would not recommend. Extremely overpriced dessert spot. We got the "treasure island" sundae with a small brownie which was $18. It's so sweet and decadent, I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. I guess that's at least good for sharing. Sure the chocolate is good, but it's not worth it. Service was mediocre. No one was clearing or cleaning the tables where we sat upstairs. Then... it was $18 for parking even though we were only there briefly to eat the sundae? Almost threw up seeing that cost.

If you expect a tourist attraction then you won't be disappointed. If you like massively sweet, super sugar-punch ice creams with "chocolate sauce" then this is great. If you like mediocre quality chocolate bars, you will find it here. If you don't mind crowds and difficult parking, come on over. At least the hot chocolate isn't terrible. And it's sugary enough where you don't mind sharing it with someone.

Pretty good service the only things is some of the workers are very blunt don't seem to enjoy their job also a lot of the tables weren't cleaned still had trash on them but don't get me wrong the price wasn't bad services was their we got out dessert quick and it was awesome would recommend to stop by if you are in San Francisco area

There is a line all day all time they are obviously under staff. They have self pay for chocolates but you need to wait in a long line for a desert or ice-cream!

Ghirardelli Square is a well-known tourist spot in San Francisco, but honestly, there's not a whole lot to do beyond grabbing a bite to eat and enjoying the view. One of the main draws is the Ghirardelli chocolate shop - there was a very long line getting in when I went. It's a popular spot. Getting to the top of the square requires climbing several flights of stairs, so be ready for a bit of a workout. Once you're up there, you'll be greeted with a beautiful view of the bay. It's one of the nicer aspects of the square, and it makes for a peaceful spot to take in the scenery. As for the rest of the square, there aren't many shops, and the ones that are there are on the smaller side--mostly boutiques and a few restaurants. It's a nice area to stroll through if you're already in the neighborhood, but it doesn't offer a ton in terms of attractions or things to do. Parking in this area can be quite challenging, so I would highly recommend taking public transportation. The bus stops nearby, and it saves you the hassle of trying to find a spot. Overall, Ghirardelli Square is worth a visit if you're a tourist looking to experience one of San Francisco's famous landmarks or want to indulge in some chocolate. However, it's not a must-see if you're pressed for time or looking for a lot of entertainment.

Favorite spot and so iconic. You can't go wrong with a sweet treat at the Ghirardelli Square. There is a wide range of selection to choose from and the price point is great for how rich the chocolate is.

This is must when visiting the city! If you live ice cream and chocolate, Ghirardelli will deliver! They have plenty of ice cream mixes to choose from. Be prepared as there is always a very long line. The service is quick and people are nice! They also have a candy shop to splurge on chocolates! It's a fun place as part of your sf visit!

Ghirardelli Square is a historic part of Fisherman's Wharf, whether you are a chocolate fan or not!! And there's a lot more here than just the Chocolate Experience and the Original Chocolate Factory!! There are some very nice, popular restaurants and shops here also. There's also an arcade and miniature indoor golf on one of the lower floors. I haven't been here in a while, but my daughter's recent internship at Ghirardelli's in San Leandro brought us back. She also enjoyed a hot fudge sundae here, which was rather large for a small, lol!! The line went very fast, they were very organized!! And although there were a lot of people here, everyone was in constant motion so it didn't feel crowded at all!! We had a good time here!!

After our late lunch at the Palette Tea House, no meal is complete without treating ourselves in some sweets. How convenient that Ghirardelli Square is just across the way. This place never fails to amaze me. I always feel like we are stepping into the Oompa Loompa Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. It is truly a must-visit destination in San Francisco. The chocolate candies in the store are perfectly arranged in the aisles, wrapped in shiny packaging. They are a delight to see, creating a festive feeling. They offer a wide variety of chocolates, including their exclusive Ghirardelli Artisan Chocolatier products, which are made fresh daily right in Ghirardelli Square. Outside the store, on the back patio, there are seating and tables available to relax with the family. We ordered the Sea Salt Caramel Sauce and the Ocean Beach Sea Salt Caramel Sundae. Both definitely did not disappoint and satisfied our sweet cravings. We never tire of stopping by whenever we visit the SF area.

Always a great spot to go when in town! This place has all the chocolate goodness! Kids sundae is more than enough and they always have their seasonal goodies out as well!

Famous and historic place to go shopping or just hang out and chill. Ghirardelli Square is a landmark in the Marina District. It happens to be located pretty close to lots of the other fun stuff at Fisherman's Wharf. Even if one doesn't like shopping they should still come here and look. There's lots of interesting shops and some of these are the originals from when it opened. A lot of history about this plaza and the shops inside. It got started in 1893 as the headquarters of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, which still exists but moved to a new location in San Leandro. The site was purchased in 1962 and converted into a shopping plaza. In the famous Clock Tower is now the chocolate shop where you can still get those classic chocolates. There's also the popular San Francisco Brewing Company, and a location of Square Pie Guys. Also there's a miniature golf course. There's even a big ass charging station for electric vehicles. Better than any of the shops is the plaza itself. There's the famous fountains, signs, and other stuff. Certainly there's a lot to see and do in here. It's good even for those not wanting to go shopping. This is also close to other attractions and well known things.

We were eager to explore Ghirardelli Square and visit the Ghirardelli Experience, but unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations. The experience felt lacking in substance, with minimal activities or engaging displays. It primarily featured a selection of Ghirardelli flavors that you could easily find in any store, and while there was an area to order desserts, nothing felt particularly special or unique. I had hoped for more history about Ghirardelli and its rich legacy, but that was largely missing. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity to create a more immersive and memorable experience. If you're in the area, it's worth a quick stop, but don't expect anything beyond what you'd find at a regular chocolate shop.

One of those popular tourist attractions in San Francisco that I probably didn't appreciate until I got a little older. In addition to being home to the original Ghirardelli chocolate store, this place has a great variety of great eateries and some retail. There are some pricier eateries here as well as some cheaper options so it feels like there something for everyone. There are some directories throughout the property to help you find your way. But it's not a huge place so everything is relatively easy to find. Nicely designed here as well and I think they have events here from time to time.

Amazing.... Like always. There was a problem outside with the SF Brewing restaurant. Their manager was completely rude to the Ghirardelli server, Jonathan. The kid was so kind. After, I explained to Ghirardelli manager how kind Jonathan was, the management gave us a bag of candy. They were so kind.

The Ghirardelli shop was so cute! Located pretty close to the Wharf, I can imagine this is a cute lil date spot if you live in San Fran. The shop was decorated nicely and had a lot of desserts to choose from. The employees had cute uniforms on. It was a whole experience. Right across the way there is another shop with chocolates and more goodies. The selection was huge and almost overwhelming in the best way. Get your chocolate fix !!!

An iconic spot in the city, but would say go once a year and that will be sufficient. If you go on a weekend or a Friday, it will be much more crowded than mid-week. I think it is fun to go during the holiday season, although be prepared for crowds. Even though their ice cream is yummy, the ambiance inside is extremely chaotic. I recommend this place for people with kids, and if you do not want to be around kids...Then maybe don't go here :) Service is quick considering how crowded it gets, but is overpriced (not surprising because it is tourist attraction).

Ghirardelli Square has experienced significant improvement in the last few years in my opinion. Location is perfect and is walking distance to other areas like Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, and Fort Mason. There's a ton to do in this plaza now. There's an arcade, mini golf, a brewery, wine tasting room, restaurants (Asian food, Mexican food, steakhouse, oyster/seafood, pizza) dog store, sofa/couch store, hotel, other small boutiques and of course the Ghirardelli Store. The only downside is parking. They have a parking garage that is limited. Your ticket can be validated. Otherwise you'll have to bet on street parking or public transit. Ghirardelli Square is a perfect blend of local shops and other brands/businesses. Sometimes they even have outdoor movie screenings in the plaza. SF at its finest.

Holy chocolate! This review is for the Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience only as we didn't visit the rest of the businesses there other than the gift shop. But please do; there is a brewery, an arcade, wine spot, fun gifts and more. There is a parking garage onsite, and also street parking around the block. Walking into this iconic San Francisco square is an architectural step back in time, modernized for today. You've got a perfect view of Alcatraz from inside the chocolate experience or from the square. Now, for the good stuff.. CHOCOLATE. Walk into the Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience and meet the bulk squares set out buffet style for you to grab and bag for purchase. You'll pay by the weight, FYI do with that what you will. The wall is lined with San Francisco & Ghirardelli souvenirs, as well everything from baking chips to large bars. Next to the bulk squares is the line to order something from the counter and pay for what you picked up as well. Sit and enjoy the vintage decor, get a table by the windows to peek at Alcatraz while you're savoring a treat. As usual, the chocolate and menus are top notch, showcasing the Ghirardelli standard we know and love.

Lovely place to hang on a beautiful day. Absolutely love Palette Tea house and of course, we never pass up on Ghirardelli! Cute dog shop here and wine store too but I wish they had more. Lots of tourist shops, naturally. Lots of paid parking and quick walk to the waterfront. My fam and I enjoy hanging here when it's sunny out.

Ghirardelli doesn't disappoint but the prices sure do. Nearly $19 for a Banana sundae. Associates have attitude and are moody. Nothing really has changed and they have removed the entire process of making chocolate. Overall a nice experience but way too overpriced for ice cream.

A top class foodie place for any chocolate admirers. Not to forgot they have different varieties of chocolates and the best one from their menu is always World Famous Hot Fudge, its just WOW. My wife loves coming here often when we visit SanFran. It gets super busy on the weekends especially during holidays with long hours of line but worth to wait and try.

One of the Top destination in the city. Whenever people ask me where to go in the city, Ghirardelli Square is and will always be on the list. Such a historic and a vibrant place! It doesn't matter if you're a tourist/visitor or a local, this place is A MUST VISIT!

The staff was pleasant and I enjoyed my delectable mini hot fudge sundae. My review is short because I didn't spend much time in the small shoppe, but I can attest to the friendly service I received. Inside was packed since it was Saturday and everyone left with smiles.

It's definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas here. The entrance to Ghirardelli is filled with Christmas lights. So glad we came when we did because it wasn't super crowded. I needed to buy some hot cocoa for home but still wanted to order some to drink while we were there. You grab a menu at the line entrance so you can browse before reaching the register. The line was short and they had lots of staff so the wait wasn't long at all. I kept it simple and got a classic hot chocolate, medium, no whip. Sooooo chocolatey and delicious. While waiting we were watching them make fresh sugar cones for the ice cream. The lady making them gave us some free chocolate square samples. Next thing we know our order is done. It doesn't take long at all since most of the hot chocolate is already prepped. Afterwards I headed towards the bakery wall and grabbed a box of hot chocolate. They only had the blue box which is semi-sweet and so I grabbed a couple of loose packs of the red pack which is double chocolate. For a box of hot cocoa and 2 additional packs it was under $13. Not bad at all for real chocolate. They have garage parking, we paid $18 for 2 hours. The line to checkout was also super short. They have a ton of registers which helps speed up the process.

Beautiful location and big selection of treats to choose from. Scoops are ginormous and totally worth its value. Service was fast despite the line! Plenty of seating to sit and enjoy for dine in. They give you a pager that you place on the tracker sticker on the table.

This is just an overrated expensive tourist trap. It's way too crowded and the ice cream is meh. They forgot our order but the staff was kind enough to make it right away when I asked about it 40min after ordering.

Visited Ghirardelli Square a few weeks ago with our family. We recommend walking here or getting dropped off here because the parking structure here is a poop show. Parking here is $18 for 0-3 hours. So definitely keep that in mind. Nonetheless, the Ghirardelli building is a great stop in SF. The building is historic but is well kept. There are a couple of restaurants, shops, miniature golf downstairs, and the iconic Ghirardelli store. You can pick up a bunch of chocolates or help yourself to a sundae overlooking the bay from here. Overall a very pretty building and definitely worth checking out! Fair warning, do not take any large vehicles to park here! It is impossible to get out! The parking spaces are extra cramped and we also scratched our van turning around curbs trying to exit the structure. Avoid parking here at all costs!!

Love the desert choices here and everyone here is super friendly and they also give you free samples. I usually go for the mint fudge sundae ice cream which is my favorite. The value of the ice cream is so good as well you'll get really full even if you're sharing one with your loved one or partner

Stopped by today to grab a few gifts. Lots has changed after Covid, unfortunately they don't offer samples as you walk in anymore. They do have a huge selection of chocolates, they have seasonal ones. They also have a seasonal sundae, I did get one to try. It was peppermint bark sundae. It was a great tasty treat, a little on the pricey side. I don't remember the sundaes being $15, but again I would go purchase it again it was that good. For being a Saturday it wasn't too busy, I had maybe five people in line I front of me. They still offer great customer service, they still maintained the dinning areas clean. My favorite part about this location is the cable tables, it's so cute

Capped our visit to SF with a quick stop at the square for some Ice cream. This is a definite must visit when in SF. Love the vibe! Parking building is next to the square. Service was fast. Place was super cute and clean.

It's called a tourist trap for a reason! This is probably the nth time I've been here (and I was floored when I learned I hadn't written a review yet!) and it's a different run every time. It's been a few years since the last run and that was so much fun, I couldn't resist to come through again. I was giving Big Bro a San Francisco tour and this was next on the list. As many chocolate and dessert fans know, Ghirardelli is pretty much known for their sweets (and then some!) so if in SF, this place is a must stop. Neither one of us are these kinds of fans, and since we'd already got grub at Boudin and Buena Vista, we weren't really there for anything other than just to see what it's like. It's cool to see there are still eateries and shops standing. And since it's Christmas, the whole place was decorated beautifully! The one person I do miss is the guy sitting at the bottom stairs who spoke a million languages. I heard somewhere he had passed (like the bush guy walking around the wharf scaring people.) *** Insert sad face here!!! *** Did I mention that the view from here is like nothing anywhere else?! It's incredibly breathtaking. We were lucky - we got to enjoy it on a rarely-warm-ish, clear and sunny San Francisco day! It's a good place to spend a free afternoon at - should you be so lucky to be near enough - even if to just hangout, have a drink, read a book, etc... if anything, come for the view. It'll be worth it.

Made a must have fun stop after dinner on our way home! Perfect place on a cold December night for a hot chocolate and photo opp! We each ordered the Salted Caramel hot chocolate and it was SO GOOD! Our drinks each came with a chocolate and then the very friendly gentleman working gave us a couple extra! I picked out a Christmas Ornament and we walked around the shop and Square enjoying our drinks and the lights. Wonderful way to end the evening!

Ghirardelli square is definitely a tourist trap. Everything is extremely overprice but at least the store front is clean and nicely maintained. I ordered the banana split with three ice cream flavors. The toppings are very good but the ice cream is very basic. This banana split set me back $20 Minus one star for the high price tag and the risk you have to take when parking here

Wish I can give this place a zero stars. There's no management in this store whatsoever, employees all have a careless attitude. When we asked one person for help, they always directed us to another worker, who directed us to another worker and so on. Got 2 hot chocolates and waited 40 mins with no result. Asked the employees nicely to check up on the order and was simply told to keep waiting in a cold tone, couldn't even make eye contact. There's a lot of rules that aren't explained at all, like if you pay cash you have to go to a certain register etc. or if you order in, you can't go up and ask to check on your order; they are just supposed to "find you" even if it's been over 40 minutes. It sucks our friend really likes this place, we just had a bad experience. Edit: we went to go get a refund and they could only refund the drinks and not the tip. Didn't offer any sort of compensation as well.

Nice tourist area to satisfy your chocolate needs. This square encompasses various stores, nice ambiance with fountain and seating area. The main attractions are the Ghirardelli chocolate stores where you can order from their menu or buy various chocolate products. I walked here and unsure how parking is. Was confused if you have a stroller or wheelchair on how to go up from lower level. We walked up the hill unfortunately but great exercise. Overall, very picturesque and one time experience to check out.

In SF for the weekend or even for a day? Be sure to stop by Ghirardelli Square for a great chocolate experience. Close proximity to Pier 39, restaurants, and the ocean; it's located in an ideal spot. We started out with some shopping for friends and picked an assortment of chocolates. Then, went right to the cafe to order our sweets. The staff was friendly, the desserts were brought out quickly, and the Treasure Island sundae ($14.50) was decadent and a must try! Overall : 5/5

There are two types of people in this world chocolate lovers and Haters!? I can't resist the milky creamy silky smooth taste of chocolate. This sweet snack is pretty hard to do without and you can tell Ghirardelli choc it up with experience. Not only do they have candy, they also offer ice cream snacks as well. You must do yourself a flavor and try the brownie sundae with hot fudge on the brownie and caramel on the top of the ice cream mmmm talking about a party in your mouth whoot!!!! The value of the candy and ice cream snacks are a sweet deal. Its starts at $-$$$ depending on if it's in season or regular stock. Came to visit on a cold late December, it was raining but still line was out the door. One of the best hot chocolates I've had. Highly recommend! We walked here from our hotel but took Uber back. I'm pretty sure parking is prime and probably a nightmare. I've been visiting SF since the 80s. And must add, yes there will be waiting involved. Pack your patience and you will be rewarded. This visit was in December and it's now March, I am still dreaming of the hot chocolate. They're that good!

A good sized shopping mall in the heart of fishermen's wharf. We walked here from our hotel for about 10 minutes. Most people come here for ice cream sundaes and I saw vegan sundae that I would like to try next time. This place is very clean with some restaurants and shops. We tried a dim sum restaurant and a brewery, both were great. The shops were very basic with unfriendly workers for some unknown reason?! No greetings and smiles at most shops which was so weird! Hard to imagine workers behave like this at any tourist shops in Los Angeles! LMAO! Still it's a good place to hang out, eat and drink or just walk around a bit!

Yummy ice cream here, a main attraction to a pier 39 visit! The local near the street it where I used to order ice cream and sit down at a table. This has since moved about 300 feet or on the other side square. The seats are limited so get there early or be ready to wait if you have a big group. This place is nostalgic. You can order chocolate bars to go along with your ice cream. The ice cream hits the spot and the servings are big enough to share between two people. There are other tasty other ice cream shops in town but you come here for the novelty. Would I come back, absolutely it's a Fun place!

A beautiful area, for tourists and locals alike. There are a bunch of great restaurants within this area. Prices are a bit expensive, but it comes with the territory of being where you are. I noticed some people with an "Ask me for help" sign which I thought was a nice touch. There's everything from food to games to shops - something for everyone.

Such a fun place to go! We got their mint bliss hot fudge sundae which was perfect. The coolness of the mint was so yummy as it melted into the hot fudge. Their factory also had free chocolate square samples!
