Ghost Light Inn

"__Why did this hotel catch your attention? __ Next to the famed Bucks County Playhouse in the heart of New Hope, the Ghost Light Inn epitomizes the modern barn aesthetic from its riverfront perch. What's the backstory? It's owned by the same people who own the historic Bucks County Theater (hence the name, which honors the light always left on in every theater). Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? All of the rooms have a ruggedly handsome appeal complete with reclaimed wood paneled walls and platform beds with leather headboards. Book a riverfront room for stellar views from the Juliette balconies. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?No charge. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?The in-room mini bar has some unusual elements (a naughty box, for one) and Stella, the in-house restaurant, is run by chef Jose Garces. Breakfast is not included, but walk down the street to the Ferry Market for coffee and fresh pastries. How was the service? It is a boutique inn, so you'll get friendly service with a staff that really knows the best places to go in the area. What type of travelers will you find here?Couples of all ages who want to leave the city, but not their sense of style, behind. What about the neighborhood? What else is around here?Unless you're looking for a twee bed and breakfast, this is by far the best place to stay in New Hope. It's in the heart of it all and you'll likely never need your car once it's parked here. Is there anything you'd change? All of this hipster chic doesn't come cheap. You do have to pay up. Any other hotel features worth noting?Check the schedule for the Playhouse in advance and consider planning your visit around a show. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?Definitely. Ghost Light Inn's stylish digs prove that country charm can be cool and contemporary too." - Nancy DePalma

Fantastic stay! We had a river view and it snowed! Perfection! I love the attention to detail at this guest house. They think of everything. We had an amazing view from our room. The bed was cozy, nice bathroom, cozy chairs. Good breakfast and easy to walk around. The first night we went to the Ferry Market and loved it! 10% off for guests at the hotel which is great. Second day we ate onsite with friends. We ate the menu and loved it all! The best Brussel sprouts ever!

My birthday weekend at the Ghost Light Inn and Stella restaurant was supposed to be relaxing. Instead, it turned into a chaotic, money-wasting circus that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Dinner at Stella started off on the wrong foot thanks to our waiter, Brendan, who greeted us with all the enthusiasm of someone being forced to work unpaid overtime. I was surprised cause by yesterday’s social media post — Brendan was an exceptional waiter… The entrées tasted good, but for $45, I expected something more substantial than an appetizer posing as a main course. After my husband had two Stella beers and I had two cocktails — which for the record, wouldn’t get a toddler tipsy — we attempted to order dessert and a final drink to end my birthday dinner. Instead, we were abruptly cut off with zero explanation. No conversation. No reasoning. Nothing. We weren’t even sitting for more than 1 hour. And when my husband asked why we were being cut off, things escalated in a way I still cannot believe: staff told us they were going to call the cops on him. Over asking a question. It was unbelievably hostile and unnecessary — and in my opinion, wildly unprofessional. But the disaster didn’t end there. The valet situation at the hotel pushed this whole debacle into surreal territory. We entrusted the hotel and valet staff with our brand-new BMW. When it was returned, the back door window had been left wide open overnight in the middle of snow and rain storm — soaking the interior, the seats, the panels, everything. What made it worse wasn’t the damage itself but the response. The hotel and valet staff offered no explanation, just confusion and hollow apologies that felt more like they were annoyed we even asked. We ultimately filed a police report because someone had to take the situation seriously, and it certainly wasn’t going to be them. In my personal experience, this was one of the worst hospitality failures I’ve ever encountered. If you value your celebration, your sanity, or your vehicle, do yourself a massive favor, avoid Stella and the Ghost Light Inn entirely. They managed to turn a simple birthday weekend into a 24-hour disaster.

WOW!! this was our 2nd time staying here. Hard to believe it was better than the First Time. From the room to the view from the room, just Awesome!! The staff was Excellent from the front desk to the crew that cleaned the rooms.|The complementary continental breakfast was great.|The location was awesome, close to great food, and the Buck County Playhouse shares the property. You can walk the bridge into New Jersey to Lambertville, where there is shopping and great food like T54 Restaurant, or stay in town and visit the Old Stone Steakhouse restaurant across the street from the hotel (it is a converted church, simply beautiful).|Colleen and Mike

My husband and I stayed here for one night and I would recommend it to other travelers. Convenient location, spacious, clean rooms, large bathroom with products included. |Each room also comes with a Nespresso - perfect for morning coffee overlooking the river. 20$ overnnight parking (not valet). |This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of New Hope with a plethora of restaurants within walking distance. It is also very close to the trail on the Lambertville side - perfect for running, walking or cycling. Breakfast is very very limited but included - individual yogurts, assorted pastries and some fruit options were offered. |My only complaint about this hotel was the noise - I could hear other guests coming in and out of their rooms/walking in the hallways. Management is clearly aware of the noise issue because a white noise machine is supplied in each room (and was already turned on upon our arrival). Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you’re looking for a cozy, clean and convenient place to stay in New Hope.

The Ghost Light Inn is locatedin a perfect location along the scenic Delaware River. Walk around historic New Hope with its great eateries and niche shops or cross the river to the equally beautiful historic town of Lambertville, NJ. The Ghost Light Inn offers nicely sized rooms with excellent bedding and full room amenities. The complimentary continental breakfast is upscale offering more than most. The views of the river and NJ are beautiful at night. The Inn shares a pay to park lot with The Bucks County Playhouse. We stayed mid-week. The price was just over $500 / night including parking, quite high in my opinion. We enjoyed the stay but question the value to us. Our perceived value was the only drawback and reason we rated it a 4 star. However, service, rooms and location we rated 5 stars.

My husband and I stayed at the Ghost Light Inn on September 29th with checkout on the 30th.|Our experience was excellent! We were traveling with our pekingese and it is sometimes challenging to find high quality locations that accommodate pets. Everyone at Ghost Light Inn was very helpful. Our room was immaculate...and quiet. The rooms are well appointed...high end toiletries, robes and slippers. Though we did not partake, there were snacks including refrigerated and not refrigerated items. The room also had a beautiful Nespresso machine. You are steps away from the Delaware River and wonderful niche shopping. We enjoyed a very nice dinner at a nearby restaurant. The following morning, staff had set up a delicious breakfast spread in the alcove near the elevators. It was perfect...and just down the hall. All employees were extremely professional, competent and kind. If you are planning a stay in the area, Ghost Light Inn would be a wonderful choice. I wish them continued success!|Sincerely,|Jennifer Ritz

The Ghost Light Inn is a beautiful place to stay, conveniently located in the heart of an amazing walkable town. Lots to see and do within easy walking distance, on the banks of the Delaware River. Our room (king bed) was extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished. The staff was friendly, personable, helpful and professional. They were very responsive to our requests for extra hangars, water and help with the TV. There was a wedding one night and while the music was loud, it ended promptly at 11pm, so it was not a bother. The water from the tap was cloudy and we were provided bottled water to drink on request; while the room appeared clean, there was a bit of dust present, but we were here for a family wedding and a little bit of dust did not spoil anything for us! We would definitely stay here again!

Stayed for one night, the room was beautiful, the view was beautiful, and the front desk concierge was amazing. He even ran out and blocked a parking spot to save it for me because the lot was almost full, top level service! Stella's food and ambiance was right in line with the whole experience.

Yelp
The staff was very accommodating. Our room was ready when we got there at 12:30 pm. I love when we don't have to wait for our room. Everything very clean. Comfortable. When they heard it was our anniversary we found a box of chocolates outside our door. Their restaurant Stella, had a very nice brunch. Setting is beautiful overlooking the River.

Yelp
Pros: Beautiful location Clean spacious room Very nice employees Cons: $20 for parking is a ripoff Mini bar prices ($12 for a beer) Shower awful Loud when a wedding is going on

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous, relaxing. This is the most stunning place we have been. We like to travel around to little boutique hotels for a recharge. This is by far the best one yet! It's a little tough because my wife and I sleep in separate beds but not that night!!! If you are looking to go someplace special with somebody special this is it! We stayed in the carriage house suite and it exceeded expectations. The management is top notch!

Yelp
We live less than 5 minutes away and have been wanting to try this place since it's gone up. We finally stopped in for an early dinner on Friday. It was gorgeous and the staff were very friendly but the food was eh. I am a 'clean my plate' kind of girl. I always finish my entire meal and then usually my husbands as well. And we both left a fair amount of food on the plates. We ordered the fried shrimp and grits to start...it was just ok. I wanted to love it, I went into it really trying to love it. The shrimp were very crispy which was nice but didn't pack any flavor on their own without the Chili dipping sauce. The grits they were on were very tangy, it was an odd combination. I ordered the roasted chicken entree and was surprised when it was just a thigh/wing. The chicken itself was good and the mashed potatoes it was on was good as well but the sauce it was sitting on and vegetables were inedible. It honestly made my eyes water. I'm not sure if it was the Yuzu or what but it was all over everything and I was unable to eat anything but the chicken and some potatoes that didn't have the sauce on it. My husband ordered the Porkchop and it was cooked nicely but again the flavor of the sauce was just very odd. We both left most of our meal and went down the street for burgers. The menu itself was very small as well. Maybe going for the atmosphere and some drinks would have been a better experience.

Yelp
We booked my birthday for an overnight stay. We haven't been away since the whole covid situation. I was a bit worried staying at a hotel but I was pleasantly surprised at how everything was handled. Jimmy was outstanding and accommodating. Our room was room nine and it had breathtaking views of the river. The room was immaculate just like their property at The Carriage house. We will definitely be coming back soon.

Yelp
Great location, amazing river views, really nicely done. 4 stars instead of 5 because the room was dusty and the window screens were extremely buggy - not the end of the world but would expect better for the price

Yelp
My husband and I stayed for a weekend at the Ghost Light Inn in March 2022. We stayed in the executive suite (room number 3). The room was clean, spacious and had a very pretty view overlooking the Delaware river. The bed was very comfortable as are their chairs. The hotel is right in New Hope and in walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend this quaint hotel when visiting New Hope.

Yelp
Clean, new and a very accommodating hotel with a great view. But most of all, Mark the night manager went so far and above his duties to help us. Our TV had an issue and he worked on it for almost an hour to resolve the issue. The entire time Mark apologized for the inconvenience. I would hire this guy in a minute. The hotel staff was friendly and very accommodating. The parking situation was not as good but nothing is perfect.

Yelp
I love Ghost Light Inn and so did the guests I brought here, the producers of "Let's Travel Radio," who travel around the world for their work. We all were so appreciative of the quality of the rooms, the amenities, the incredible eye to detail. I loved the Juliet Balcony where I looked out the window on the most beautiful views and felt like I was on a cruiseship -- not on land, the water is that close. I recommend it highly!

Yelp
HORRIBLE end of my WEDDING NIGHT. I called to make my reservation and paid a couple days prior to my wedding day. As far as I was told I was staying at the Carriage House Inn. NOTHING was mentioned about Ghost Light Inn. I arrived at the Carriage House and not 1 sole was in the building or at any front desk. No sign. A Button to push for Front Desk. I pushed it, nothing. I called the hotel. A third party answered and they didn't know about which hotel I was even talking about. I explained I needed help getting into my hotel The Carriage House, my KeyFob wasn't working. I have videos and pictures to prove everything. The third party person over the phone said they will have someone call me within minutes. NOT 1 CALL was made back to me. My and my husband decided we couldn't stand outside in the freezing cold anymore and called another Uber back to take us home. The hotel Owner will not refund my $450.. They keep calling my situation a "cancellation" but it wasn't. I went there on my wedding night with nothing but full intentions on staying over and i was locked out with no help even after calling the emergency line. NO ONE GIVE THEM BUSINESS. Not professional on how they are handling it.
