The Best Breweries in Vancouver, Washington and Its Surrounding Towns | Eater Portland

"Ghost Runner’s sports themed pub in a large warehouse in Minnehaha offers a variety of award-winning beers. The 5K, a classic Northwest IPA, balances the requisite bitterness with pine and citrus. For something wilder, a raspberry gose called Chasing Fluffy Pink Unicorns gets a tart-yet-nuanced flavor from rosehips, coriander, pink peppercorns, and three pounds of hibiscus flowers thrown in at the end." - Rachel Pinsky

Google
This place is a well hidden gem in central Vancouver. You drive back, into a warehouse lot and think ypu are in the wrong place until you see the outdoor tables on the left. They have shuffleboard, a low, but serviceable billard table, and electronic darts in the far back corner. There is free parking in the lot, as well as outdoor seating, if you don't mind the weather. There are small patio umbrellas, but they won't block the sun or rain all that well. There is a ton of seating inside, with named tables. That is how they keep track of who is where for orders. There is a QR code at each table, which brings you to the menu. That is how you order food. Alcohol must be ordered at the bar. They do bus your table for you. There are three ciders on tap, in addition to plenty of beer. There is no house rootbeer (something many breweries and pubs have). They also have syrup based, flavored lemonades. I had pear cider, and it was semi-dry and paired well with our gluten-free pizza. The toppings were ok. The sauce was well balanced, with a clear, but light heat. The crust was typical Udi's style...thin, with a bit of a chew. This is not the best gluten-free pizza I have had. It is average. I prefer my cheese to be slightly browned, with some crispness to the pepperoni. This was melted, but no browning. The crust wasn't oily, as so many are. Again, not bad, just average. The rest of this place and the service are above average, and thr glutenful food others had looked amazing. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have a gluten allergy and the staff made sure to clarify my sensitivity level and take steps to mini.ize contamination with clean utensils, prep space and hands. I would definately return.

Google
Very cool spot. Was confused at first, as I thought we had the wrong address but was pleasantly surprised once we arrived. We were greeted upon entering and told that we could sit anywhere. They have you order by scanning the QR code at your table, which I did not mind as this gave my sister and I time to review the menu and chat before ordering. This was also an easy way to order more while you're there, as you can keep your tab open. I was bummed to see they charged for samples of the beers/ciders, as I would've liked to try one before ordering. They have board games and as we were leaving, they were starting a bingo game which I thought was cool. Very chill place to bring a book, laptop, or play a game and relax while you enjoy great beer/ciders.

Sweet I.

Google
It's taken me quite a while to post this because I can't say more positive things about this place. We found Ghost Runners by accident and it's been the best thing to happen in my life in more years than I'd like to admit. My husband and I have been coming here since the beginning of 2021 and we have developed so many amazing friendships between the staff and the regulars, it truly is a hidden gem. I understand people have bad experiences from time to time, but that's everywhere. This place is truly Vancouver's "Cheers" brewery. You come for the beer and food but stay for the people. Giving a shout out to all the current staff, though all the past deserve the same. To Jeff, Dan, Nick, Troy, Kami, Bri, Tomas, Jake, and Chris, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Love you all! And to Ghost Runners, thank you for being the establishment that allows me to call you home away from home. If you don't know this place, you should.

Google
Ghost Runners Brewery & Kitchen is a fantastic find, especially after our go-to brewery temporarily closed. Nestled in a light industrial area within a small warehouse business strip, it boasts a bright and welcoming atmosphere with multiple TV screens throughout the space. Beyond great beer, Ghost Runners offers engaging entertainment, including trivia nights, music bingo, and a regularly held cornhole tournament. In fact, cornhole boards are always available, and guests can check out bags at the bar. Given how popular their game nights are, reservations are recommended. While bar seating is always first come, first served, and some tables remain open, arriving early (around 5 PM or earlier) ensures the best experience. The beer selection is consistently impressive, featuring IPAs, Pilsners, and stouts. Even if they run low on their own brews, they maintain strong partnerships with other local breweries to keep the taps full. The food menu is equally satisfying, offering well-prepared sandwiches and thin-crust pizzas. We've tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all—my personal favorite being the chicken street tacos. What truly sets Ghost Runners apart is its exceptional staff. They are friendly, attentive, and maintain great energy even on the busiest game nights. Service is efficient whether ordering directly at the bar or using their convenient app, which allows guests to scan a QR code, place food and drink orders, and continue ordering beer from their table. Overall, Ghost Runners Brewery & Kitchen delivers a top-notch experience with quality beer, great food, and excellent service. Highly recommended!

Google
We came in on a Thursday without a reservation, which is their trivia night, but they kindly accommodated us. The food was extremely tasty. I highly recommend the cheesesteak! We'd never tried their beers, so we ordered a flight and weren't disappointed by our choices at all. The pricing is great as well. We will definitely be coming back. They were dog friendly, which we were very excited to see, so we will see them soon with our pups!

Fiorella C.

Google
Love all the games like ping pong, shuffle board, and pool. The huge projector showing the football game was also fun though there was no sound. There were a lot of kids running around which isn't my preference but the food was good and service was great.

Ronna S.

Google
Self serve by app which means super fast service! Family friendly Atmosphere! It reminds me holiday parties in relative shop, clean but no personality. Food good but over prices. Beer & spirits only. The only real cool things where the dogs and games!

Karl W.

Google
Great brew pub in Vancouver/ Hazel Dell! Super friendly staff, amazing location with tons of indoor space and lots of outdoor space - and you can bring your dog outside and show the pup off. All the beers I had were fantastic and the hazy IPA was my favorite. The pizza is a flatbread style of pizza and it tastes great. I didn’t explore the rest of the menu but it looks great and I look forward to exploring the rest of it. Also, the staff was super friendly and helpful with info. And forgiving when we stayed a hair past close. And there artwork is awesome. So yeah, super modern beers and awesome food. You won’t regret going here.

Yelp
Such a great find! Really enjoyed the craft beers and ciders, not to mention the BBQ chicken pizza and wedge salad... perfect to share between 2 people. The staff were very nice and down to earth, and allowed us to sample before ordering a full pint. And, the bathrooms are immaculate and clean. Usually a good indication of how the establishment conducts business, which in our opinion is great! We highly recommend adding Ghost Runners to your list of great places to grab a bite and enjoy craft libations!

Yelp
So fun! So many games to keep you entertained (shuffleboard, Cornhole, etc.). Pizza was really good.
google avatar

Kathleen O.

Yelp
Got the Ruben Pizza, wedge salad and 5k beer! Great service, staff was awesome, pizza and beer amazing! Fun busy crowd, my only complaint is we had to sit by the door due to no more seating, next time I'll make a reservation. I look forward to going back for all their fun trivia nights!

Yelp
Ghost Runners is doing the family-friendly brewery thing right. Pizza and a bunch of free games? Who wouldn't have a good time here. Our group enjoyed drinks and shared a couple of pizzas. I was very impressed with the quality of the pizza! I would happily come back just for another slice. And the hummus plate wasn't half bad. You can either order at the counter or via QR codes provided at each table. It's a seamless process! We played Uno, pool, and corn hole while watching one of the football games being broadcasted. (All provided by GR!) Even though it was a busy night we still got our food quickly, didn't have to wait long to play games, and felt very looked after by the staff. I really liked this place and I have a feeling I'll enjoy it even more during the summertime. It's a good time!

Yelp
Happened upon this spot on a trivia night, but weren't able to stay and partake. The atmosphere was fun and vibrant. The beer was refreshing and good and paired well with the pizza which was tasty and hit the spot. The staff was friendly and helpful. Will be back.

Brian E.

Yelp
We got a cheesesteak and a hummus plate. Thought the place was a little expensive for average food. Beer is expensive too

Tawnya B.

Yelp
What a great place to hang out among friends, co workers or make new friends. Plenty of board games, cards, shuffle board, pool, corn hole, basket ball, ping pong. Have some brewskies, a bite or 2. Was in town and would go back next time In town

Yelp
Very chill place. Drinks are good and they have food. Everything was order and pay by phone so we interact with the staff a ton. Great place to catch up with friends

Yelp
Since walking in the doors we were hit with good song after good song. The playlist was ON POINT! They've added QR codes for ordering which made ordering and delivery seamless. We got a little busy playing scrabble but a server still stopped by and checked on us when they noticed we were getting low on beer. Beer was delicious! Ordered the pigs say what pizza with some additions and it was delicious! Overall it was a great experience and environment. Would be the perfect spot for a date, after work get together or family gathering. They have big tables for a crowd but it can also feel very intimate. **major plus: they are super dog friendly!!

Yelp
This was our 2nd time attending a church event at establishment (I am Lutheran & we had a Brewed Theology & Hot Topics Events). There was a reserved section that was set up for our event. Orders were submitted through the code on the table. There were plenty of food options & drink options for all palates. Service was prompt and attentive. The place was big and inviting to where a number of things were going on but was not intrusive to others. Would recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Do not go here if you have children under 5. My wife was meeting a marketing club here after work and my 1 year old daughter and I decided to tag along. The reviews made the place seem family friendly. When we entered I took my daughter and set up at a table. Meanwhile my wife found and joined her group. Upon getting settled at the table I found you have to order everything from your phone via a QR code. Frankly, I do not want to set up a profile on a third party ordering service to just to buy a beer at your bar. After half an hour of waiting while feeding my daughter snacks no one came to check on us. Two servers just stood behind the bar joking about how slow it was. They did offer a dog some water but didn't offer the same kindness to my daughter and I. Eventually, we got up and left. Don't go here. It's ridiculous that I cannot walk up to the bar and order a water or drink. If you don't want my money I'll find a place that does.

Yelp
Ghost Runners is THE BEST brewpub I've ever had the opportunity to be a local at. The beer is outstanding, the food is delicious... but most of all the owner and staff are warm and welcoming for children and puppy

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - 5 stars, we got the following: Flight: Elite, Belgian Ale; Chasing Fluffy Pink Unicorns Gose (my daughter's choice); Barrel Aged Boston, Double Red; 5K, IPA. Running with Scissors - Imperial Hazy IPA. BBQ Chicken Flatbread - My daughter's favorite. It had strong flavors and the green onions took it to the next level. Combo Pizza - Very generous with the toppings. It was falling off the pizza. Atmosphere - Cool local brewery vibe. I used Open Table to make a reservation; I recommend making a reservation for both Friday and Saturday nights! Pool table, darts, corn hole, etc. Board games. Indoor/outdoor seating. Huge parking lot, but limited parking due to an event. Mondays = Music Bingo. Tuesdays = 2X punch loyalty cards. Thursday = Trivia night @ 7pm. Service - Excellent, everyone was great and friendly. Nikki, the owner's (Jeff) daughter, was excellent. She reminds me of my daughters when they used to work for me. So Nikki will turn out GREAT. Have fun in college in Montana!! Nikki is a hard worker, and tries very hard. New at bartending (2 weeks) but did well. Jeff is also friendly and a good communicator. Kitchen was behind and he warned us accordingly. Price - $56.43+ tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2012 to Jeff and Amy and nice to see all your expansions and improvements since then. See you all next time. :)

Yelp
Good beer selection. The food is good, but usually messes with my stomach, which is unusual. The service always seems good. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice.

This place is off the hook delicious!!! Both beer and sandwiches are just beyond great and the service is fantastic and quick! Dog friendly too!!! Peace be with you all Sherri

Yelp
Ghost runners is awesome. Everyone's super friendly and pretty knowledgeable. Food was bomb dot com, and the brewskis were delicious. I really liked the environment and tend to hold meetings, and friend meet ups. Always have a great team and leave satisfied. Well ran place!

Yelp
What a hidden gem. We have visited twice once for Dine The Couve and just recently to try their amazing sandwiches. Tucked back in an industrial park I had no idea an amazing Pizza, sandwich and craft beer brewery/restaurant was back there! First visit was for pizza and cider. We tried their 12" Craft Pizza called Combo Marathon Pizza- Signature red sauce , mozzarella, pepperoni, salami, bacon, mushrooms, red onions, tomato, red and green bell peppers, with roasted garlic and artichokes. It was super delicious. I was not prepared for how incredible their pizza was going to be. It is now one of my favorite pizza places in Vancouver. The crust was crispy in all the right ways. The cheese and toppings were impressive in flavor and quantity and baked to perfection. Usually pizza takes a while we got our pizza in about 12 minutes which, is amazing when you are starving. We also ordered a couple Pear Ciders. Second visit we ordered a sandwich called BEST REUBEN EVER! WE THINK to share because they are large. Ingredients were- Sliced pastrami, melty swiss, sauerkraut, GRB Ruben spread on rye bread. Served with chips and a pickle. Now, I have had a lot of Ruben's this Ruben is now on my top 10 list. The pastrami was plentiful, delicious and so tender. The sauerkraut was perfectly portioned and that melty Swiss with Ghost Runners special Ruben spread,YUM! The sandwich held together nice while eating which is one of my judging factors. The atmosphere is really laid back. They have plenty of seating for large groups. The space is large and open so you don't feel confined especially now a days post Covid. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. We felt like regulars when we returned because they actually welcomed us back (it had been a couple weeks) I didn't expect it, how refreshing. If you haven't ventured over to Ghost Runners Brewing you should.

Yelp
Stopped in because of the reviews and I was NOT disappointed. It is in an industrial area but it gives it almost a more relaxing vibe. Upon entering, we were kindly greeted and walked through the selection of food and drinks. I ordered a cider, my husband one of their beers, and we shared one of their pepperoni pizzas. We recommend all three! They had a projector with the NBA finals on, a good selection of board games and offer an entire section dedicated to foosball tables, as well as darts I believe. We liked everything so much we ordered another round of drinks to finish our pizza. After conversing with the gentleman that greeted us we learn he was actually the owner and learned about his growth and goals for the business. Highly recommended, especially if you don't want to eat directly in the city when traveling back from Portland to Seattle.

Paul S.

Yelp
I got off work, looked on yelp and decided to try something new found this place went in and I felt like I was the second class citizen. I've never been here before, so tried to talk to the waitress no response. Tried to talk to anybody behind the counter to find out how to order got no Response I guess unless you're a certain class person then you're welcome Otherwise, you're just not welcome
google avatar

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
We came here on our way from Portland, OR for the day and needed a place to eat. We were staying in Vancouver and this place popped up. It was open later than others and it had some good reviews and a cool ass name. We arrived and noticed it was in a warehouse, easy to miss at first but it's nice when you route the corner, you see the sign and its 50 feet or so. We arrive and are greeted. The gentleman said I will give you time to review the menu. You order before you sit. I ordered a flight of beers, two being Hazy IPAs. He seen my hat and said "How long have you been a Steelers fan" I said since I was born. Typical Seahawks response.. as I told him I've always been a Seahawks fan, just when they do not play the Steelers. We sat down and I tried my beers. Liked them all but one of the hazy beers were delicious. Everyone got their food except me. I went to get another beer and told the waitress about my food. They never put the order in. They apologized and got me my food quickly. Situation like that most people would give it for free or sick a percentage off. Just my opinion. However the food was delicious and beer and the young lady helping us was extremely nice. I recommend this place. It has lots of room.

Yelp
Chill brewery with some yummy food! Stopped by on a random Tuesday for some lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and vibe. The space is huge with tv's and games; we just sat at the bar. We built a couple of flights and the beers all tasted great. Ordered a pizza and the Ruben and both were delish. Definitely will be coming back and recommend to others.
google avatar

Pugwhan J.

Yelp
A must go when in Vancouver. Great food. Great Beer. Great service. Try the Reuben.
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
This is one of, if not, my favorite brewery in the Vancouver area. Great beer, food, and service.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Excellent food, beer, AND service!! Cammy and Dan are the best!!
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Meh. For a place that bills the Reuben as their flagship it sure was disappointing. The kraut was good, I'll give it that. The sandwich itself looked like someone gave up halfway through construction though. I'd say more of a cook and less of a chef. The piece where you take pride in your work seemed absent from the food. If you aren't especially picky about food I'm sure this place will do you just fine. If you want a better Reuben go to tapped union.
google avatar

Eric J.

Yelp
Went for lunch. We both had the Reuben sandwich. Nice atmosphere and good music. The service was just a bit slow for being not busy. But, worth the wait. We will go back when it warms up so we can sit outside. They have a pool and ping pong tables. Also a nice shuffleboard.

Rosie H.

Yelp
Service was great, food was better than expected. I liked my flatbread pizza enough, my partner enjoyed their Reuben sandwich. There were some not so enjoyable parts of the meal: The music was far too loud, my phone registered it as a high decibel noise exposure (I was surprised but then again, we were seated in view of the TV). This resulted in some patrons having to speak loudly, I quickly found this to be headache inducing. The industrial building with the giant screen tv has some potential, I would hope there could be future movies shown here instead of loud (bad) club music streaming over a random football game. All of this is contingent on the acoustics being balanced. The TV is massive, I am guessing it was worth 50k+. Lastly, for the price of the meal, I was a bit underwhelmed with the food. I don't know when I would return anytime soon. I will definitely pay attention to updates or improvements though, keeping it on the radar.
google avatar

Eric F.

Yelp
I thought the service was poor. Really don't like having to go to the bar to order. I had a sandwich was was not good & didn't take long to cause digestion problems. The same with the person I was eating with & not likely returning.

Idahotwin K.

Yelp
I'm giving this a 1 star due to no response from the owner. I sent an email to Jeff mentioning I was going to retire and had about 30 people coming for a party. No response by email. I drove to the brewery and found out another event was scheduled that day. I then called and left a message for Jeff about another date to use. No response. I then called one morning directly to Ghost Runners and was told Jeff was busy. Left a call back number. I never got a call back. I can't believe the owner of a business operates this way.
google avatar

Tyler N.

Yelp
This is a review for their Rueben. I've never personally been, but the girlfriend's book club is here. The Rueben is by far the best I've ever had. The meat is close to a fried Bologna, being from Texas I was in heaven. The kraut and dressing are amazing and not over powering. Turns out I'm a Rueben fan, if the balance is like here! Give it a try, if you're disappointed I'll happily take your leftovers :)

Mike Kim T.

Yelp
We try different restaurants every Saturday and the restaurant has great review. Their pizza was freshly made and the bartender/waitress was very helpful explaining the menu and letting me try different varieties of the beer. We will definitely be back again.
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
If you have read any of my reviews, you will find I have a soft spot for breweries...lol. This brewery keeps a well balanced selection of brews from IPA's, Amber, Stout and Sours. Fun local with plenty of inside and outside seating. They make decent pizza and sandwiches. The staff are friendly and care about their patrons and it shows. Which means alot to me when I decide to make a place a recurring watering hole.

Joan M.

Yelp
Good beers on tap and also pizza fresh. In an odd location but otherwise big space. They have lots of events for trivia and darts. Great place for a neighborhood that doesn't have a lot of hangouts around
google avatar

Tanya L.

Yelp
Good food and service. Thai place is always a fun time. Pizza crust is tasty! And it's great for a hot day.
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
We love coming here. They have good beer and the staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Trivia Thursdays are the best!

Christie F.

Yelp
Super fun place with delicious pizza! We are visiting from Las Vegas and this is our second visit to Ghost Runners. It's a relaxed place with lots of games including ping pong and corn hole. Definitely recommend!!

Ken H.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for trivia night. Great atmosphere. I really like that I can order food and drinks from my phone.

Josh W.

Yelp
Flat bread pizza and a prehop is all you need at ghostrunners- best spot in town Dan is the best- always fast and fun to chat with
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
Awesome place! Great pizza, solid Reuben, and a good beer / cider selection. My ONLY complaint is that they don't have their barrel aged RED (best I've had) all year

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Fun place with good service. Trivia night is a good time! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food.
google avatar

Zippy M.

Yelp
Was looking for a drink and quick bite. Not being from the area we wanted local beers. Not realizing this was in an industrial area we drove by it three times - I was also chatting so maybe that was the issue. I love breweries in industrial areas and the space inside was large with games, pool, cornhole. The mead was excellent. Menu was quite impressive for the setting. The Turkey sandwich was full of flavor and did not disappoint. Staff was really friendly. Had a great visit.
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
I was looking for a brewery where I could take my dog and this is the spot! Almost like a mini dog park! Dogs are welcome inside too at the bar. You never would know Ghost Runners is here as they are in the back of a complex with other random businesses. The walls open up to which they have 4 tables on the outside within a fenced area. Decent selection of pizza and good beer. I did a flight, raspberry gose being my fave, and their elite beer was good too. Service was a bit slow on initially coming back to take our order, so I ended up taking my flight request up to the bar. I initially tied my dog to the table but they were not heavy enough as she went to go check out another dog and almost took our beers with her, thankfully not! Bring in your own dog water bowl as they don't seem to have some to lend. I would go back here :)
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Staff was pretty rude and short with us. Not a great atmosphere. We did not order food.

Ted S.

Yelp
You are visiting from far away and looking for a pizza place. You find one and its close by where you are staying. One problem, you wanted dine-in and when you arrive its a carry-out only joint. Plan B. Carrying out plan B attempting to use Google Maps while in motion, not the best solution. We zero in on where we are, which being totally alien to the geography is a challenge. We plug in Ghost Runners Brewery. Now, beer was not what we were after and I would have loved to have imbibed but, not today. We approach an area via the Google Map lady that looks rather industrial. Many new looking small warehouse structures mingled together. GML (Google Map Lady) says we are where we should be. My partner says, keep going on back there, so we drive further into the paved warehouse court area. Viola, there are tables and a warehouse converted into a really cool adult hangout serving beer and food. You order from your table via the phone scan of a table posted UPC or whatever the heck the scan jobby things are these days. We ordered a 12" Pepperoni, would have done sausage, but it didn't make the roster. We also neglected to specify sauce and cheese on it, so the bartender came out and righted the errors of our ways. Pizza was out in like 6 minutes. We paired that with a water and a Sprite in a can. GREAT pizza! Perfectly cooked, big slices of pepperoni and the thin crust was just the right browness. What a wacky location, but great pizza. I am betting the beers and sandwiches are even better. I would like to suggest to management a few more appetizer offerings and maybe a side salad, or soft pretzel. This is one of the craziest locations I have ever seen, although one we have at home, which is one of our tops, the guy built his own brick building with oversized Alice In Wonderland furniture and then mills his own flour for the pizza and other baked goods he has. Great job Ghost Runners, best of luck and undoubtedly anybody there is having fun with the billiards, ping pong, darts and selection of games.

Yelp
Found this little gem in an unexpected industrial hideaway. Worth it. Friendly server and cook. Pool, corn hole, darts, outdoor, and indoor seating, many options. The pizza was delicious. Split a meat combo and veggie. No real gluten free or vegan options, other than cider and hummus w/out bread.

Yelp
First review of 2021, and first review in the PNW. So happy with my experience here at Ghost Runners! The beer was fantastic. I tried Hazy/Juicy, Hazy Imperial, Unicorn Sour, and both stouts they had. One was a nitro. They were all great! The Hazy Imperial deserves honorable mention especially, and that's the one I choose to fill my growler up with on the way out. They do tasters. They also do flights. The pizza here is really good too, which was a very pleasant surprise. Pro tip: if you're a pineapple on pizza kind of person, ask to sub out ham and sub in pepperoni for a wonderful slightly off-menu treat. Yummm! Their hummus starter was tasty too. Service was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable. Place was clean. Nice clean bathrooms too. They are expanding! More seating will be available soon. Also, I wore masks, social distancing enforced, etc. Always appreciated. The seating is an indoor / outdoor hybrid with giant roll up doors that allow even the indoor space to be extremely open and well ventilated. It creates a very pleasant atmosphere. It's tucked away and unlikely to get accidental walk-in traffic. Definitely worth seeking this place out! Great spot to relax with a drink and a delicious snack.

Yelp
Thursday night trivia was a lot of fun, great for the whole family! Food was great along with the service! Make sure you make reservations especially if you have a large party!

Yelp
I didn't have particularly high expectations, but the pizza was delicious, the beer was good , and the atmosphere was fun. I ordered a pepperoni flatbread pizza and shared it between two people. The crust was buttery and crispy. The servers mostly just took our order and delivered food, but it went smoothly.
