Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington

We did the tour with Steve Little last night and it was one of the best I’ve been on. He kept us engaged, entertained and enthralled with the stories he told. I love his tie-ins to his personal life as well as how familiar he is not just with the stories, but with the families and employees at the local haunts! I don’t have enough great things to say about Steve L! You’ll be very lucky if he’s your guide!

What a great night and tour with Steve L. Super awesome to hear the stories and history of old Wilmington! Took alot of pictures and we are still looking to see if we caught anything. We would definitely love to tour again!!!! Will call and ask for Steve L again! This is not just a job for him, it’s a passion and it shows.

Our tour guide, Steven L., was wonderful. He successfully guided us through a chaotic Saturday night and wove tales of history and spirits that haunt the streets and alleyways of Wilmington. He shared stories that raised the hair on your neck and brought tears to your eyes. We even had an extra treat of meeting one of the horses from a horse drawn carriage en route to escorting wedding members. I highly recommend the tour if you have an evening in Wilmington. And with October here, the mood is sure to enhance it. Thanks again Steven for a wonderful tour!

Steve Little of Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington was an amazing tour guide! We went on 10/30, the night before Halloween, and had such a fun experience. As Wilmington locals who do the ghost tour every October, we’ve had many guides over the years, and Steve was definitely one of our favorites. He was not only entertaining but also incredibly knowledgeable about Wilmington, its history, and its ghost stories. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a spooky and informative adventure!

steve little was great! I don't even believe in ghosts so I didn't find it spooky, I just love good stories, and steve clearly loves what he does. I know more about wilmington now than I ever did. he even stayed to chat longer than the allotted tour time. lovely night.

Had THE best time doing this ghost tour with our guide Chloe. She was amazing, and enthusiastic about telling the old stories of Wilmington. Her knowledge in the history was impeccable. 100% hands down would book this tour again.

We did 2 tours this weekend - Ghost Pub Crawl with Steve on Friday and then the Ghost Walk with Steve L. on Saturday - both were great and very different!! The pub crawl was just the right amount of "rowdy" with the stories and crowds and the walk was informative and interesting. I have been on the walk several times before but had not been on those specific stops and it was nice that they were out from the loud crowds a bit. Did the tour last night with Steve Little. Had a great time! 5 stops with very detailed stories, that were spooky and gave a glimpse into Wilmington history and lore. Group was small enough that everyone could stay together and hear the stories. Would definitely recommend!

We did one of the downtown ghost walks while visiting in mid October. Our guide was dressed as a witch, which was a fun touch. We only stopped at a few places. I have been on a lot of tours but this one didn't have very many stories. I would have liked to hear more about the historic properties and houses than the courthouse. Still a fun thing to do.

The advertising is misleading. Not scarey, did not enter any old buildings. it was a history class and the guide talked a lot about his personal life. it was advertised as the scariest ghost tour. The positive was walking around historic Wilmington and seeing the buildings.

Very informative! Steve Little was our guide, and throughout our entire 1.5-hour tour, he was incredibly captivating in his storytelling, bringing the ghost tour experience to life. The last tour started at 8:30 PM and ended around 10 PM. I recommend bringing a snack and something to drink if needed, but be prepared to fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Chloe was great! Love this tour! Has a great mix of history and ghost stories while still being fun for the family.

We had Chloe as our ghost host last night and she was AMAZING! You could tell she believed and knew these stories to her core! The story about Gallus Meg had us on our toes after getting a spooky picture when my husband approached the entrance. Chloe said there are over 50 stops so we will definitely be back!

Steve Little was great! Engaging and entertaining without being too gory or scary for my kids. Highly recommend!

Updating my review to give it another 5 stars! I SO enjoyed my last tour a few weeks ago, I decided to take my husband for a date night. This time we had the incredibly likable and informative Steven as our guide. We toured the alley neat St Joseph the apostle, the Lattimer house, and a lot of local lore from the houses on Secknd Street. It was a different walk with different points for me and all were not only informative of local tales, But he injected anecdotes and historical aside bits that really brought the tour to life. We actually wound up investigating some of the hot spots on our own again after the tour had ended. Black Cat Shoppe really hits the nail on the head with their tours and guides. It's an amazing experience for both tourists and locals alike. I look forward to a third time!

The ghost walk was very fun. We did the 8:30 one and it was a 90 minute walk, 5 stops, and about 1 mile. Our guide was very kind and funny. The way she told the stories were very interesting and informative, she really drew the picture. Honest 10/10 would go again

I only give this 4/5 because it was 90% history and 10% ghosts. A great tour if you aren't familiar with the area. Each tour covers 5 sites. Good service

I had an incredible time on our tour tonight! (6/10 8:30 pm) Although I'm not a believer in ghosts, our tour guide Chloe was truly impressive and made our night memorable and exciting. She was very outgoing and sweet, and her extensive knowledge of the town's history was fascinating as well as the eerie stories. Her theatrics were amazing, and I'll definitely spread the word to anyone going to Wilmington!

We've been on the tour several times and overall, it was entertaining. We've had diffent guides almost every time and this time, our guide was Steve L (he made sure to tell us to get his name right as there are multiple Steves. He was personable and a good storyteller. Some stories we'd heard before, but there were a few new ones this time. First story was in an alleyway about the woman bouncer who bit ears off sailors - Fun story that we've heard a few times but this time we loved the guide singing! Next went to an alleyway where a guy was murdered and his ghost has been seen riding his horse. This one dragged out for way too long, and people were starting to get bored, looking at their phones and talking to each other. Good thing he got more interesting at the next house where all the children died and still haunt the house. He recited an Emily Dickenson poem in a book found at the house that related to the deaths, which was very moving and a nice touch. The house where the captain and his daughter died was a great story. Creepy vibe with fun details. Final story was told on the rear steps of the children's museum. I've taken my kids there and thought we were going to hear about the museum being haunted. He started by saying, "Usually I tell a really sad story about a dog named Boss that dies but I'm going to tell this story, which is a story I'm not supposed to tell" and then told a old a long story about his friend that died, the friend's wedding and a clock. It wasn't a bad story, but we were confused as to why he was telling it.  We waited for the Wilmington connection, but it never came. The tour was about an hour and a half, and we walked a few blocks around downtown. If you go, wear comfortable shoes and be ready to navigate some uneven sidewalks!

Derek was a great guide and was very enthusiastic with his stories. The stories were varied and interesting! We completed 4 stops in a bit over an hour.

I wanted to like this ghost walk. I really did. I just did not. I have been on many ghost walks all over the world...Edinburgh and London being the best! This one was disappointing because Wilmington has such a rich history with so many historical places that it could have been sooooo much better. We visited 5 stops over the course of almost 2 hours. The stories were long and dare I say it...kind of boring. As I write this review, I can't remember one of them. The stories were about 15 to 20 minutes each and I was bored after only a few minutes into each story. I would have rather visited more places and had shorter stories. I just wanted it to be over.

It's a very informative walking tour. They take you to several stops around the downtown area. You get a little bit of history mixed in with some ghost stories. It's not scary but it is entertaining. You can get tickets on their website or at The Black Cat Shoppe on Market. Cash and cards accepted. Bring your walking shoes and water. The later tour at dusk is better but the earlier ones are good too. I would highly recommend just for the entertainment value and the history lessons.

We had a great time. The guide we had, Derek was great. Very good job bringing the stories to life as well as helping deal with the traffic down town. He mentioned other stories being told on different tours. I'm not sure if that means different guides but i would imagine so. We will definitely go again!

Done this tour several times with family and friends when they visit, always a great experience. However, most recent tour was totally awful. Guide [Owen] was long winded, rambled on, felt like I was watching an audition for a play. Over extracted general knowledge, and general history was poorly explained. Felt it wasn't considered a ghost tour.

Wife and I did this tour earlier this week with Chloe (with a 'C') The content was super interesting, including some of Wilmington's darker history. Lots of cool old buildings of historical significance. Tip - Wear comfortable shoes as it is a couple miles walk, including down some alleys, etc. with uneven surfaces. The highlight was Chloe, a recent Theater graduate who stole the show. She was fun, funny, engaging and also knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour.

I highly reccomend this for the residents of the Wilmington area and any tourists. It was so much fun, very interesting and we were lucky enough to have experienced a couple "ghostly" interactions. Our guide was such an awesome story teller that it made the tour better. There was a lot of filler sentences that could have been cut out because they were repeated many times but besides that it was interesting learning about the history of Wilmington. It was 90 minutes and we got to visit 5 locations out of 20 historic ghost sites. I want to know though how do we sign up and make sure we get a different set of stories instead of the same ones? I really wanted to hear about the Bellamy Mansion but that wasn't apart of our tour this time so we will definitely be going back to hear about it. Crazy to learn that there are bodies buried under the streets we travel on each day!!! Also, when you visit the cemetery there is a "cemetery cat" as the guide called it, that visits and is so pretty (an actual living cat). I will definitely be going back but want to make sure I get a different tour so I don't hear the same stories. Enjoy!

We've gone on these tours several times. Each time is different and fun. Last nights tour, with the Guide named Kent, was the best. Kent was knowledgeable and humorous! He even gave some book and show recommendations. Thank you Kent!

My daughter and I loved this Ghost Walk, it was very informative and intriguing. I will do it again next year. Lots of love from Ohio.

Absolutely fantastic experience! My girlfriend and I have done one other ghost tour in town last year but I personally enjoyed this one a lot more, and most of if not all of the credit has to go to our amazing tour guide Owen! Super engaging, awesome delivery when it comes to story telling, and overall just a very positive personality. 11/10 would recommend

Such a fun experience, enticing history and stories. I really like the fact that every tour tells 5 stories, each being different than the last. Joe was our tour guide for the night, a very informative story teller. He really was into character as he was wearing an old colonial outfit. My favorite stop would have to be that of the Latimer House or hearing the tale about a young fireman and his loyal dog. At the end, Joe had been walking away as I thanked him for his time and he responded, "as you can see, I really love doing this." That made me smile. He was a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this, especially the last tour of the evening when it's dark! Well worth the money and it's right up your "alley" (no pun intended (; ) if you're a paranormal/history addict like myself!

Was worth the trip! Our guide was wonderful and I recommend if you're in the area. Even if you're not a big fan of the paranormal, it's still worth it because it's very informative. Will 100% go again when we're back in the area! (Our tour guide was Derek)

10/10 would recommend this tour! Our tour guide Kent was amazing. He shared his own experiences, the city's history and others encounters so fluidly and with humor. It downpoured on us and he never skipped a beat and still made it fun and enjoyable. Would 100% do this again!

My boyfriend surprised me with this spooky tour last night and we were not disappointed. First off our tour guide Kent was amazing! He kept us engaged with his phenomenal story telling abilities and he was very knowledgeable about the city and paranormal experiences. I've lived here a little over 2 years and it was fun hearing ghost tales and connecting them to venues in Wilmington. I won't tell you which ones, you'll have to take the tour to see what I'm talking about. I would highly suggest both locals and visitors to take the haunted tours and learn the history of our town, who knows you might sense a ghost like I did. Thanks Gallows Meg for the experience. History + storytelling + larger than life (pun intended) characters = a spooky fun night! We had a large group attend a weekend ghost walk and we would recommend it to everyone! It is family friendly and, tbh I was nervous about taking our group downtown on as a Saturday, bit it wasn't hard to find parking and the areas were not crowded. There are a handful of stories that were well thought out and organized. I'd love to hear some history of old Wilmington weaved into these stories but now I have some research to do on my own. Thanks for a great night!

The Ghost walk is not a "scary" thing. It is a walk up hills and stops listening to a storyteller. Our storyteller was really great! She was clearly an actress and. Kept me very entertaining. However, there is nothing scary about this so if you are looking to be creeped out, this is not it. There was a lot of historical information and some of the stories were at least 20 minutes. I enjoyed myself and thought it was unique.

Terrible experience, definitely overrated! Walk was advertised as 90 minutes, a fact constantly pointed out by our guide. Only made 3 stops during walk, each stop we listened to guide tell us about ghosts, orbs, and stories others had told. Obviously following a script! As we ended our "ghost" walk the guide looked at her watch, realized how quickly our walk was ending, so she added a story about a male walker (customer) face-planting on the pavement, however they were able to help him....seemed to several of us that flace-planting on concrete would cause serious injuries. Walk advertised for 90 minutes actually lasted 53 minutes, yes I timed it. Incredible waste oh money and time!

Wow. Bummer of an experience with this business. I inadvertently bought tickets for the wrong date (one day difference). Contacted the biz and was told I needed to contact Etix to make a change. I tried, but couldn't find where to do an exchange, so in checking the tour's website, I saw it states you don't need to bring a ticket, just give your name...so no QR/bar code needed. I contact the owner again and ask if that name on the list can just be shifted forward one night as I can't find how to do exchange with Etix. He tells me "They need to be exchanged to correct ticket counts. Thanks" That's it. No help with how to do that after I made clear it wasn't apparent, nor any info on what to do if I have any issues. Huh. I finally get to Etix and am told volume is high and it will take a few days. I wait. Nothing. Contact Etix again, nothing. I had told the owner his pointing a finger to this service wasn't helping, but he didn't respond...guess because I mentioned his indifference would show up in a review. So here it is. I lost $42 because this biz owner wouldn't take a couple minutes to work outside his automated system, or offer any help in how to use it. Crappy way to operate and offers a prime example of how success can make a business owner indifferent to to what got them where they are. Mr. Hirchak, you suck.

Long winded tour guide. Tried to make it WAY to personal.... Not a lot of historical info

Tour was informative but I wish my tour guide was a bit more dramatic and animated. I liked that the guides wore a costume to fit the historic theme.

We expected more. Somewhat entertaining. The performance was genuine, could have been more animated and enthusiastic.

Our tour guide, Anthony was awesome! He was a captivating story teller and we love hearing all about the history too. We highly recommend as a must do when you visit Wilmington!

This was my 3rd Ghost Walk experience but my second pub crawl tour. Our guide Steve was entertaining and his stories kept you interested. We picked a Tuesday night and found out some of the places Steve likes to stop were not open, like Varnish. We were still able to visit Cape Fear Wine and Beer, Blue Post, Growlers Tavern, and Blind Elephant. While we were in Blind Elephant, my husband took a motion photo and captured an orb when he was standing at the top of the stairs looking straight down the steps. If you want to save some money on the tickets, don't purchase online, visit the Black Cat Shoppe and purchase in person! No ticket fees.

Derek was a very enthusiastic and fun guide! His singing was a bonus. He also did a great job of involving the audience. We enjoyed learning about the haunted history of Wilmington. - Jess & Jess

Very interesting Chole was a great guide.She made the stories interesting.I can't remember the guy with the interesting ring with snake head a diamonds.I wanted to look him up,also mother.

This was an impromptu decision while we were in The Wilmington area on vacation. We didn't have any sightings that night, but we heard the best stories from a great guide, David. It was very enjoyable and entertaining. David even recommended a hamburger place that we ended up trying snd he was right; it was fantastic!

Just did this last night and it was a great experience. Yes, some parts of Wilmington are nightly and loud but it didn't take much away from the tour itself. I expected that. Our guide, Steven, was awesome too. Wonderful story teller and had a great personality. I'd definitely do it again and recommend. I thought it was fair priced as well.

Theatrical and entertaining. Most memorable was the horse-ghost. People could still hear him clomping down the old street, but he was nowhere to be seen. And of course Samuel something-or-other who was buried alive in a church in the early 1800s. Sad little stories. One of my girlfriends just moved to Wilmington recently and she, too, took this tour. She said the entire time she kept thinking of me. (I kinda love that people associate me with ghost stories.)

I went last night with my dad and it was really fun. You can tell the guide definitely knows his stuff. Good stories and good exercise too :)

Best ghost tour in the Carolina's. Jaime our tour guide was the best! Kept our group on the edge of our seats wanting more! Would recommend this to anyone staying in the Wilmington area for a couple nights ! P.S. - if you want more historic tales, check out the Historic Brunswick Town! My fiance and I decided to take this tour to see and hear about Old Wilmington. The weather wasn't great, it rained some, but our tour guide kept our attention with stories and personal experiences he had to share. We plan on taking a tour of some of the living museums and exploring more of Wilmington. A big THANK YOU to our tour guide Kent for bringing to life the stories of ghosts in Old Wilmington!

Absolutely loooooooved this experience. I just moved to Wilmington but I've been a tourist here all my life. My family was visiting and we are lovers of all things spooky so I chose this as an evening excursion. Our tour guide Jaime was AMAZING! He really knew his stuff and is a phenomenal storyteller. I love that each tour is unique and I could tell he was kind of going with the flow on where we went next. Walking through the historic residential area was so much fun because the stories about the families who lived there were very personal and definitely unique. I'm not sure where else you'd be able to hear some of these stories besides on this tour. It was definitely a hike and I didn't dress for the occasion, so I recommend bringing your walking shoes and a hair tie! I was sweating up a storm. 100% worth the workout! Loved this tour so much that I ended up attending the pub crawl the next week.

This was a great tour with good ghost stories! I brought my one year old (for her birthday) and she screamed multiple times during the walk. The tour guide handled it great and said babies and kids are welcome on the tour. It was an enjoyable experience and it made me more interested in Wilmington in general. I'll definitely be back.

50 people on the tour the first 2 stops were right next to loud live music I could not hear a thing. I'm on the tour now writing this review instead of trying to hear the lady tell her stories. If your hearing is not perfect do not waste your money.
