Giacobazzi's Delicatessen

Giacobazzi’s is very close to my heart as I first went there in 1992 whilst at medical school at the Royal Free Hospital. It’s a hidden Italian Gem in the heart of Hampstead. I would treat myself once a week for 5 years to their delicious sandwiches on Ciabatta/Foccacia. I always had Tuna and the scrumptious home made roasted red peppers in olive oil and fresh Basil. In 2000 I moved out of Hampstead and returned for my favourite sandwich in 2010 when I went to Hampstead Heath for a walk with my dog. Then I visited today as 15 years later and almost 32 years ago when I first went here. Amazingly they still did my sandwich and the original owner still there. I love this place the Italian food and lovely hospitality and service always friendly and chatty. You made my day today. The ciabatta roll's bread to fillings ratio is way off - super bread heavy, and it was a little stale which didn't help. Feels like the sandwich service is an afterthought, but it could be a real contender for best lunch option in the area if you got the bread right. Only that one star off, because the rest of the place looks great for what it is.

This is a true, authentic taste of Italy. The moment you walk into Giacobazzi's the enchanting smell of fresh Italian pasta, homemade pizza, cheeses, herbs and meats hits you. This is where you are absolutely willing to spend extra because what you get in return for your money is absolute quality. Unlike many of the faux continental delicatessens in the immediate vicinity, Giacobazzi has the most authentic produce, and an unparalleled taste. If they had a seating area you would see a competing exodus from the Hampstead cafes run there, and rightly so because noone comes close in service or taste. Long may this magnificent delicatessen continue - this is where you will find the best ciabatta in London. And the coffee is also good.

A sandwich from Giacobazzi’s + the Heath in a sunny day 🫶. All of the sandwiches I’ve tried have been delicious. My favourite so far is the tuna and red pepper! Their salads and cakes are also very nice and worth trying. Card minimum is £5.

Giacobazzi has excellent service and a passion for Italian food, from a wide range of homemade pasta, soups and desserts to cheese, salami, oil, vinegar, ice cream, honey and delicacies from some of the finest Italian producers.

One of the best Italian delis in London. The in house pasta is dreamy. The deserts are restaurant quality and everything is of the finest quality! The only downside is it’s a bugger to park nearby, but I just discovered they do offer courier delivery service! Roughly £5 to £10 depending on far you are from the shop. Hopefully they are stocking white truffles later this month!

Mmmmmmm the smells that waft out the door when I'm heading to work mean that I'll be thinking about lunch before I've turned my computer on. The sanwich prices rival the delis in the area and provide a much better quality lunch (err, the bread doesn't come with those printed grill marks...) Definitely try the ciabatta, their pastas and other goodies are all take & heat so if you've got a microwave in the office, it's a perfect place for a quick easy takeaway.

Going to this place for lunch is what I miss the most from working in Hampstead Heath. It was here that I discovered sun-blushed tomatoes. Throw in some ciabatta, oils, fresh mozzarella and pesto and I was in 'Best Sandwich Ever' territory. They also sell a variety of fresh pastas, deli meats and desserts. Well worth a visit.

An amazing variety of fresh food, cooked, presented and serviced to perfection. 5 star people, 5 star service. They made our job very easy and Wowwed our guests. The fresh pasta was great as well as the great ciabatta served with a great balsamic. Highly recommended.

This place is right by my work so when I'm feeling naughty, (and only occasionally because it is quite expensive) I head out and get my lunch here. It is so delicious, all the produce is Italian and they have the most amazing selection of cheeses cold meats, salads, sun dried tomatoes, sweets, cakes, you name it, if it's delicious then they've got it! But what I highly highly recommend is getting one of their home-made sandwiches on delicious, olive oil-drizzled ciabatta bread. My absolute favourite is the DOC buffala mozarella, tomatoes, pesto and rocket. The mozarella is creamier than you could ever imagine. There aren't the words in the English vocab to truly explain this Italian gem. If you are in hampstead go here and experience it first hand instead!

One of my favourite shops in London. Their food is better than in some restaurants that claim to be Italian. And you can find not only cooked staff but olives oils, cheeses, sauces and so on. And products are high quality and with moderate price. Now I am looking forward to using the catering service

The best homemade lasagna and fresh pasta in London! It is worth every penny! Higher quality than any British supermarket.

I adore this family run business, run by real Italians. I have been shopping here for years, going firstly with my father as a child, and then on my own as an adult. They have all manner of imported wines and goodies, like passata, tinned tomatoes, dried pasta, pannetonne, cep mushrooms, cheeses and hams (you cannot NOT try the San Danieli). You can have fresh sandwiches made and buy home-made cakes by the slice. You can buy slices of ready to eat home made pizza, or ready to cook whole pizzas. The freezer is full of ready meals to buy, all home made in store. My favourite is the porcini mushroom lasagne. They sell home made fresh pasta, which you can often see them making in store. There are also home made sauces available; again, I adore the porcini mushroom variety. They sell delicious marinated olives, marinated cooked vegetables and their lovely home-made seafood salad. It is rather expensive but it's healthy, hearty, homely and genuine and well worth the cost.

The fresh pasta here is amazing, especially the chocolate and venison ravioli. Better than many Italian restaurants and lovely staff.

My life ambitions include buying everything in the store and eating them over a slow Sunday afternoon. Check out truffle salami, buratta-ta-ta mozzarella (hard shell, cream inside) and Minghella ice-cream.

Expensive, but it's Hampstead so that's to be expected. Unlike a lot of other local shops, however, this deli's products are totally worth the price. Their ciabatta sandwiches are unbelievable and all of the salads are delicious. Cannot recommend enough!

I've been coming here for years and the quality of food has remained consistently good through the years. For me the highlights are the things they make themselves (although their selection of deli meats is pretty extensive for such a small shop). The filled pasta and pasta sauces are an instant winner - I'm a particular fan of the pumpkin ravioli. It's also a great place for lunch, their homemade mayo gives their sandwiches the edge over anywhere else I can think of.
