Saturday night dinner at Giacomo's for my teenage son's birthday. Went specifically for their zuppa di pesce, one of his favorites.
Called ahead to for a reservation, which I recommend, especially on a Saturday night. We were greeted warmly and seated fairly quickly. The dining room consists of several booths around the perimeter, tables for 2 or 4 closely spaced in the middle and a bar with several seats in a corner. Despite the open kitchen, the noise level is reasonable.... We could converse easily without shouting.
Our server, Kerry (sp?), was warm, quick and efficient. She was friendly and professional.
We had fried calamari as an appetizer. Perfectly, hot, crisp and tender.
As an entree, we ordered a zuppa di pesce, scampi style, for 3. This enormous pasta masterpiece is the only entree I've ever eaten at Giacomo's (this was my 5th time). It's THAT good! Linguine with a whole lobster, shrimp, scallops, calamari, clams (in shell), and mussels (in shell) in a scampi broth. Photo below.) You pay market price ($72 today), but it was worth it, especially since we took enough leftovers home for another 3 servings. Absolutely deliciously decadent!
