Why Did We Wait So Long?! As first-time diners, we're kicking ourselves for not visiting sooner! We arrived early for our dinner reservation and were immediately welcomed and seated. From the moment we sat down, the service was wonderfully attentive. Our drink orders were taken promptly, and warm bread and water appeared almost instantly. To start, we shared the fried calamari, and it was absolutely delicious – perfectly tender with a light, crispy fry. A great start to our meal. For entrees, we had Lasagna, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Eggplant Rollatini, and the evening's Chicken Special. Each dish was generously portioned, bursting with flavor, and delicious. We couldn't leave without dessert, and we're so glad we didn't! The Coconut Cake and Bread Pudding were outstanding, providing a perfect sweet end to a perfect meal. This is undoubtedly a place we'll be bringing more of our family and friends to. We wholeheartedly recommend stopping by – you won't regret it.

Google
The most incredible food we have ever had in our lives! Juan was an amazing server and took perfect care of us. The eggplant parmesan and peach sangria were delicious! We also got the chicken parm with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara, and it was the best thing I have ever eaten. I HIGHLY recommend asking for that

Google
food was horrible. $73 for 2 people. I got the chicken picatta gluten free it was horrible. basically a plain butter sauce, no flavor at all. My partner got chicken parm. the pasta came on side? not under the chicken? Staff stared at us the whole time we were there. would not recommend and the food was definitely not worth the price.

Google
Great little find in NJ. I had been looking for some good pasta and this place hit the spot. I enjoyed the penne alla vodka with garlic cheese bread. My nephew at the lasagna, everything was enjoyable. Food was delicious, service was great, feels like an old school Italian restaurant.

Conveniently located less than 2 miles from the Meadowland Sport Complex, this classic, family-owned establishment is just the kind of place one would want to find when visiting North Jersey. Our last visit was 4 years ago, and my partner, our friends and I made a return visit yesterday with friends at Gianna's, situated in Carlstadt. Reservations were easily made the day before via Open Table. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff and made our way to a table by the front window. The menu is classic Italian, with either single or family-style portions, and is made with all the attention to detail and quality of ingredients one would expect. We decided on Chicken Parmigiana, Filet of Basa Sole Scampi, Chicken with Fettuccine, Steamed Vegetables, and a side of Broccoli Rabe with Sausage. Complimentary bread started our dinner. Our meal came with a salad. The food was absolutely delicious, well seasoned, and the closest one will get to home-made Italian cooking. Some of us saved room for dessert, as most is made on site, and decided on bread pudding and giant cream puffs. The staff was very funny with a sense of humor. We never felt rushed, and the service was good. We had a great meal as our stomachs were satisfied, which we can continue to recommend.

Google
Such a great place near home. Neighbors brought us to Gianna’s last month. Now part of our rotation of local favs. Beautiful Bolognese, very fresh. My husband loves the lasagne. Large pasta portions. Can’t wait to try seafood. Service is professional and friendly. Make a reserv for weekends.

Google
Although I didn’t buy food from here so I can’t give my opinion on it but I went to the restaurant to pick up food and the servers did a good job. I walked in and I was greeted and then I told them the name for pickup and he went to get the food. Then this old lady came out, idk if it was the owner but I’m assuming the owner because of her age. She was one of the worst and I mean the worst person to deal with. She has snarky remarks and was so rude for no reason. Terrible service. Once I got the bags I was holding them and then she said to hold the bags straight which they were. I said I got you I’ll hold them straight then after I said that she said” If you got me you’ll hold the bags straight” in a disgusting tone. She was horrible to deal with and I would never go back there. The young employees were very helpful and nice. But the old lady rude and disrespectful.

Google
This has become our go to spot. The food is always great, fresh, and hot. The managerJoanne is very kind and helpful. Thank you to Juan who has been helping us and the rest of the waitresses(I think one of them is named Maria). Always a good meal.

Yelp
I was in the mood to try a new Italian restaurant and found this place via Yelp and google. Came here on a Wednesday night. Was greeted by host when entered and sat down. Started off with the smoked salmon and mozzarella which was good, the salmon had a Smokey taste to it. For my main, I got the chicken Parmigiana with a side of salad and ziti pasta. The whole meal was delicious with generous portions. Overall had a good dining experience. * Parking on premise * Good service * Credit card surcharge of 3%

Yelp
Superb food, fancy service, and wonderful atmosphere! If you're in NJ Gianna's is a must try. We came after the Giants football game for a birthday dinner. The staff were super knowledgeable and accommodating. A chef's kiss to everything we tried from on menu from the soup to the salad to the salmon you can't go wrong with anything. It a tastes like it came from an Italian grandmother's kitchen..yum! I will definitely be back! #enjoygoodpeople

Yelp
Like your Italian Grandma became a Chef~! Best Pasta Fagioli soup I ever ate. Tasted like I make, but somehow....lighter. My spouse had clams on the half shell and enjoyed. Often, I'm "off" gluten; but here I was all in, even though they do offer GF pasta for extra $. We each decided to go with tried and true - chicken parm and veal parm. I was so full from the very generous and hearty portion of soup that I didn't have much room left for my meal. I ate a little less than half of my chicken parm and took the rest home. The tomato sauce is ... delicate ... with bits of tomato. Perfectly "spiced." The chicken was very tender; thin sliced but not too thin, 2 large pieces of breaded chicken, well sauced and cheesed. The veal, same, though I cannot speak to the tenderness of it, if it was the same as the chicken. My spouse, in addition to the clams, had salad (I did not), and ate the entire veal meal. We split pasta and veggies, and took most of that home with my chicken parm. Served with a small salad and bread with butter. Also the table is pre-set with a small carafe of oil, red pepper flakes, grated cheese, salt/pepper. We made a little plate of dipping oil for the bread. So good. Ample parking. Bar and restaurant. We were early and it was not crowded, but we sat near a "regular customers" couple and had a little bit of a chat on the way out. They eat here often, and one said..."always, ALWAYS, I get the pasta fagioli, and wind up taking my meal home." I hear that!!! Can't speak to the alcoholic drinks cuz we generally don't, and didn't. Been living nearby for 4 years - glad we took a chance and tried it.

Yelp
We were at American dream for the day and my kids wanted to eat Italian for dinner. We chose Gianna's because of the great reviews, we were not disappointed. It reminded me of an old Italian place from the 70's. We ordered several different pastas and all of them were delicious especially the Alfredo sauce. Our server was very nice and well informed on the menu. My eldest said it is now her favorite pasta place and she wants to go back. We live 2 hours away!

Yelp
I ate here last week and it exceeded my expectations. We got veal and chicken parm both cuts of meat were tasty and tender, the pasta we got on the side was great too. I like that they can give you two different portion sizes too.

Yelp
Food was amazing. We wanted to have some authentic Italian food while in NJ. It was well worth it and I'd go back if ever in the area.

Yelp
Great service - the waitress Bernice was super polite, funny, and helpful. The service was quick and she was super helpful! If you can, come here and find Bernice!!!

Yelp
This was an average place. The pasta was cooked well, but the shrimp was over cooked and extremely tough to chew. I ended up not really eating any of them. The cannoli was great! In terms of table service, our waitress left a lot to be desired. She didn't come to our table unless we called her over. There was another waiter who was telling her to be more attentive but she started a whisper argument with him...right next to our table. It really dampened the mood. We left shortly after that incident happened.

Yelp
First time going on a Friday night. Had reservations. Food and service was excellent. Dining room is small and tables were a bit close.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place! The lasagna, ravioli and stuffed peppers were REALLY good! The stuffed peppers were really unique and I'm glad we tried it because we really liked it! I have to say, the only thing we didn't like were the meatballs. It just didn't have the right taste to them. Everything else was really good! Loved their wine and prices of wine! The service was great and fast and the inside of the restaurant has a really cute authentic Italian feel to it! I would most definitely come back here again and really enjoyed my meal!

Yelp
Gianna's is a very small, fancy, and expensive Italian restaurant. The staff is extremely amable and try to make you feel at home. It seems like they tend to get a lot of regulars and get to know you. The menu online greatly different from the restaurant menu. The restaurant serves both single and family sized meals. This place is for like a fancy family dinner. They also give you a small loaf of bread. We got the chicken parm with linguini francese and rigatoni with broccoli rabe and sausage. The chicken parm was very good. I liked the lemon sauce with it. The pieces were very big too. I thoroughly enjoyed the rigatoni plate, which had a very oily sauce though. I loved the broccoli rabe and sausage, which had lots of flavor.

Yelp
Staff was very pleasant and food was excellent!!! My granddaughter GIANNA was very happy celebrating her 16th birthday at ur restaurant. Thanks again Joanne!!

Yelp
Always drive by here and never went inside until this day! What an amazing experience!! The food was delicious and it was so much that we had leftovers. They started off with warm bread and butter which was hard to stop eating. Then our meals came with salads and pasta (penne vodka was a bit extra). Overall had a great experience and enjoyed the food. Looking forward to going back!

Yelp
this restaurant was suggested by a coworker who has eaten here many times. As my first time I was willing to try. You really can't go wrong with Italian. However, this wasn't just any Italian restaurant. Gianna's is authentic; like grandmas cooking. Wonderful service, atmosphere and meal. Highly Recommend.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were able to snag a last minute reservation for Valentine's Day. We started with a gin and tonic, espresso martini, clams casino and fried calamari. Appetizers were pretty good. My espresso martini was pretty subpar. I would recommend choosing a different cocktail. For the entrees, you can get either the single portion or family portion. We each got the single size. I had the fettuccini Alfredo and my boyfriend had the chicken parm with a side of penne and tomato sauce. Each came with a small side salad. The chicken parm was a huge portion and the sauce was good. The penne was simple but tasty. My fettuccini Alfredo had a very heavy cream taste and wasn't as cheesy as I would have liked it. Luckily there was a shaker of Parmesan on the table. The staff was friendly the portions are pretty large so you get your money's worth. We had a nice quiet dinner.

Yelp
An absolute gem...owner Joann and staff are wonderful. Food is like being home in Nonna's kitchen and delicious every time. Def a keeper and going back again and again.

Katherine T.

Yelp
We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo which was delicious. Family style is a whole pound of pasta!

Yelp
We were coming from the American Dream and were looking for lunch. This old school Italian restaurant was a wonderful find. We split eggplant parm and an order of ravioli. Both were delicious as was the bread. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable. Everything a restaurant should be!

Yelp
My first time at GIANNA'S in Carlstadt for a holiday lunch and the food was excellent! Located in the Meadowlands by MET LIFE Stadium, GIANNA'S has a traditional Italian menu for lunch and dinner. They have a nice bar when you enter to the right and a large dining section to boot. They make a great hot antipasto as well as grilled chicken and some great Italian dishes like scarole and suasage. The bill was reasonable and the help is friendly. I would definitely go back and I recommend! The phone number is 201-460-7997 and the web address is www.giannas.biz Parking is ample. RECOMMEND!

Canusn K.

Yelp
Best Chicken Parmesan I've ever had! Home made Italian dressing on the house salad was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and service was top notch.

Angela B.

Yelp
I work close by and a few of us have been coming here consistently for years. The service is always exactly what it should be - polite, friendly, prompt and precise. We have lunch here and the portions are ample enough to take home. Of the many entrees I've ordered over the years, my favorite is their chicken francese over angel hair. It's the perfect combination of lemon and white wine. One day I will have to bring my daughter to this place, since she is typically the recipient of my yummy leftovers. You absolutely have to save room for dessert and cappuccino. Paula's desserts never disappoint. We've yet to sample a bad one. I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants in my day. And honestly nothing tastes as good as my mom's cooking. But, this place comes pretty darn close. It's consistently good!

David N.

Yelp
Great good in a nice relaxing restaurant. I've been here many time when in town on business. Always great food and wonderful service. Great value.

Cindy G.

Yelp
We went after a sports event and had the penne vodka and chicken parmigiana and it was phenomenal. The service was excellent and the staff was very welcoming from the minute we walked in . Definitely will go back

Yelp
Came here for dinner after visiting American Dream mall. Came in without reservations and were sat immediately (would recommend getting reservations as tables did fill up quickly.) Food came out timely, and the waiter was fantastic. Best veal saltimbocca I've had in a long time. Wife ordered raviolis and again they were delicious. Kids got buttered penne and chicken tenders and were quickly devoured. Chocolate truffle cake for dessert was outstanding. The restaurant was casual nice, Italian setting very comfortable. Absolutely recommend to anyone in the area.

John M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our first time to Gianna's. Very friendly ambiance and people. Our waiter Charlie was very nice and helpful. We had the family style linguine with white clam sauce and the portion was generous with plenty of fresh clams. Will definitely go again.

Tony M.

Yelp
Consistently good, nothing overly special Traditional Southern Italian menu Pasta always cooked Aldente Solid meal every time Deserts are with trying

Yelp
We went there for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. The hubs wanted authentic Italian food, and being from out of town for so long I did not know where to go. The waiter was so helpful in suggesting things, i would definitely go there again.

Tina V.

Yelp
Food is good / service is friendly but could use a lil bump up Place is pretty clean

J B.

Yelp
Dont usually write reviews but needed to take a moment to appreciate the wonderful food they cook here! They set a cozy mood like youre entering a traditional italian home for a family dinner. Too bad I didnt take down the name of our waitress, who greeted us everytime with a warm smile. I loved how they decorated the windows with lights, makes a nice date spot. Husband and I started with fresh calamari with hot marinara sauce, goes well with the bread they give. Then we shared shrimp scampi and chicken parm. We left with clean plates! Food portions are big, and they have family style portions as well.
google avatar

Leila A.

Yelp
The most amazing Family style Italian food in the area... If you live or work around here and you haven't been you are definitely missing out. Food is consistently excellent. Order anything you will not be disappointed.

Kelly E.

Yelp
Amazing The food melts in your mouth! A must stop! We have been there twice and it was amazing both times.
google avatar

Maryann P.

Yelp
We came here for the first time tonight. The waiter was amazing. However the appetizers, both the stuffed mushrooms and the eggplant rollatini weren't very good. The chicken parm was good. Was disappointed with my choice of restaurants.
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at the restaurant in June. We had a reservation for 25 and arrived at approximately 5:30pm. The service was absolutely horrible. We did not receive our dinner until 8:30pm; we had small children in our party. We asked the owner several times and the chef where our food was, they said they were "busy." We took note there were approximately three other couples in the restaurant. The owner became defensive and very aggressive . The owner was extremely unprofessional and non-apologetic for the entire evening. His excuse was, they are not used to a big party. Needless to say this was extremely embarrassing for the bride and grooms parents.

Chiara D.

Yelp
I do not leave reviews on anything, but this deserves one for sure. I have never in my entire life been more disrespected by staff at a restaurant before. I was verbally harassed by the "manager" or whoever she is. She made rude, disgusting comments about what I was wearing. I will not get into detail at the moment, as there will be several complaints filed with the restaurant. I am so disappointed that someone like that woman, who refused to give me her name, works anywhere at all. It would truly be a shame if this restaurant does not take immediate action regarding this mortifying encounter while walking in to pick up food.
google avatar

Tyler A.

Yelp
We had a birthday party here in early March and will return for future parties. The food was excellent. Traditional Italian, all of which tasted authentic and delicious. Everyone at the party could not have been more pleased with their meal. The staff was incredibly polite, courteous, and helpful. They work hard here. One of the owners even came by and thanked us afterward. We talk about the food all the time and want to return once COVID is done and over with. Give them a shot! Great Italian in the heart of the Meadowlands!

Pinky N.

Yelp
Probably the best fried calamari' you gotta try! Consistently good good! Service is good too
google avatar

Fidel G.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! Pre-concert, early dinner (4:30) on a Saturday night. Ordered fried zucchini, sole francese and chicken piccata. It was all delicious. Entrees come with salad and vegetable/pasta. Staff and service were excellent. Highly recommend.

Dawn O.

Yelp
Wow!! My husband and I were dropping my daughter off at MetLife and we were hangry!! I was in the mood for Italian and Gianna's didn't disappoint!! We had rigatoni with sun dried tomatoes and artichokes (love the garlic) and the chicken Parmesan! As an appetizer we had the long Italian hot peppers stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella and baked with breadcrumbs!! You can order single servicing or family portions. AND very reasonably priced!! The service was excellent to boot! I highly recommend Gianna's!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
My family, friends, and I all come here whenever we have something to celebrate. We come for birthday dinners, graduations, or just to get together. I love the family style options and the food is just outstanding. It never disappoints. Everything is always fresh and tastes amazing!!
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
My favorite favorite favorite Italian restaurant! The prices are not bad at all. The portions are huge and I can never finish my food so I wrap it up to go for the next day. The chicken franchise is my favorite meal on the menu. It's so tasty! The fried calamari never disappoints. I recommend coming here, you won't be disappointed! The service is also great so that's a huge plus.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't rated Gianna's! Best best best Italian restaurant in NJ!!! Great food, great peeps, great drinks, just an overall great place. My buds go here every Wednesday I join in when I can. Stuffed hot peppers are awesome, basa soule, pasta dishes, egg plant....all great!!! Orenzia, Paula, Kerri....the best!!!
google avatar

Nelly P.

Yelp
Loved the service, from the initial call we made to book a last min reservation to when we walked in and were greeted by multiple workers. The hostess was kind and very attentive. Our waitress was funny and unforgettable. The food was very good, as close to Italy as it can get. Calamari were excellent. Truly enjoyed dinner. Remarkable restaurant. 5 + *

Marilyn F.

Yelp
Ordered shrimp fra diavolo and shrimp scampi, along with garlic bread with cheese &sauted articokes. Unpacked bag and there was a 6" black hair on top of the garlic bread container. Ugh! Tried the fra diavolo, and the shrimp had the consistency of mashed potatoes. Spit it out. Scary & creepy! Request al dente linguine and it was non-edibly over cooked. Sauted artichokes appeared jarred, not fresh and were so sour they also were also inedible. Rund away from this place!
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
Once you walk in you feel like you are at home or a relatives cozy basement at Christmas time. There is Frank Sinatra playing in the background at a nice low level Christmas lights around the bar.........This was a good start!!!! Very comfortable surroundings. (Old School Italian) The owner bought the restaurant 19 years ago and named it after his 6 month old daughter Gianna. The evening I was there I ate at the bar and had a very pleasant conversation with the manager. A woman who has been with the family and restaurant since they opened. The food was excellent!! The stapel testers for first time eats at italian restaurants for me were all very good!!!! Them meatballs were great the chicken parm excellent and the pasta very good. I will be back!!!!
google avatar

Teri M.

Yelp
This is our New Year's Eve "hot spot". Ever since we started dating we always came to Gianna's for New Years Eve. We were trying to find a go to date spot and that's what lead us here, and now it's our last meal of the year! Their calamari is crispy and our go to appetizer. You can't really go wrong with any of their dishes. On New Year's Eve there is a family style menu, we switch up our protein dish but we always get the gnocchi with vodka sauce. The portions are huge and we end up taking home. Very nice Italian restaurant in the area.
google avatar

Margaret H.

Yelp
Completely amazing! We ordered the eggplant rollatini...oh my goodness...seriously, it was extremely delicious from the marinara to the perfect amount of cheese. I'm salivating just thinking of it! The restaurant has personal and family style portions, but two people could definitely share one entree. The main course consisted of chicken rollatini and chicken francaise...I requested the penne as my side and for it to be served with the same sauce..mmmmm....WINNER, both dishes were spectacular and came with a refreshing salad. I definitely had no room for dessert but the menu was extremely tempting.
google avatar

Rohit G.

Yelp
I would like to start this review by saying I am not a fan of Italian food. However dining at this restaurant was a different experience. We were a party of four and ordered artichokes, long hot peppers and Spiendini. Everything was perfect. For main course we ordered two dishes family style Vel Carnivale and linguini with red sauce. The staff is friendly. I ordered house wine and my lady ordered martini. Service was how ever not that great or may be the restaurant was too busy. I would give them a benefit of doubt since the restaurant was super busy and give them 5 stars..
