Wayzata’s Best Restaurants for Any Occassion | Eater Twin Cities

"A bonafide classic restaurant that brings a welcome reprieve from the sun on hot summer days. The steaks are an obvious go-to, but the sides also shine: hash browns in a golden, lace-edged disk, deeply caramelized French onion soup, and truffled risotto." - Eater Staff

Where to Eat Around Lake Minnetonka | Eater Twin Cities

"Gianni’s is a classic steakhouse with a sidewalk patio boasting lake views. Steaks are cut in-house and grilled to perfection; other specialties include spun salads prepared tableside, walleye sourced from the Red Lake Nation, and potatoes papallete, hash brown-style potatoes laced with sour cream, cheddar, and onions. Don’t want to get off the boat? Gianni’s offers dockside delivery." - Stacy Brooks

We are visiting Lake Minnetonka from Florida and stayed at the Hotel Landing in Wayzata, MN. Ate at several restaurants here (Cov, 6Smith, and Gianni’s) and loved them all. Gianni’s Steakhouse had amazing atmosphere, wonderful service (Nick was awesome and very attentive), and the food was great. Had the toast points, my wife had the spun salad and said it was good (but not special) and I had a filet. We also ordered the fancy hash brown’s that were unique and delicious. If you can only visit one restaurant in Wayzata I would probably choose Gianni’s (6Smith 2nd and Cov 3rd)… but all are great. And all three offer valet parking.

Our most recent visit couldn’t have left me more disappointed. The “prime” ribeye was full of gristle, didn’t have a consistent sear, and completely lacked a spinalis. The green beans which are normally a delight were drenched in onions and over seasoned. The special side of carrots was cooked into a mush and were remarkably under seasoned. Service is nice, but it feels more like an Olive Garden or Buca di Beppo not a true steakhouse. Severely disappointed - not worth your money. #usedtobegood

This was our first time. We started with a couple cocktails, they were all good. We started with the bread basket, which was $6. It was good bread especially the garlic toasts but all these places charging for bread recently seems wrong, given the price you pay for your meal it should really be complimentary. For apps we had the escargot which was ok but had a strong thyme flavor, French onion soup was good and spun salad which for $18 was ridiculously small. The plate it was served on was like a bread plate size. We all had the 6oz filet. Steak was cooked as ordered and very tender, side of bearnaise it comes with was a little small. The potatoes papallete were fine, nothing special but what you expect from hashbrowns. For dessert we had the apple cobbler, key lime pie and flourless chocolate cake. All desserts were good. Rose and Todd were are server's. They were both excellent.

Background: I ate solo and ordered a 16 Oz. New York strip, Baked Potato, and Mexican Coke. Environment: Entrance looks quite standard for a nicer restaurant. The dining area seems to be composed of two parts, the main difference being that the back area has walls made of stone. The front part, where I ate, had a more simplistic and modern feel. There is additionally a bar area. The lighting is brighter than your standard steakhouse, but still dimmer than a regular restaurant. Gianni's had music playing and chatter volume is on the louder side. The bathroom is solid but nothing crazy fancy. It is a little bit on the smaller side, at least for the men's. Overall, I feel that Gianni's is better as a restaurant for going with family and friends rather than an intensely romantic date. It could still be a good date spot if you are looking for a more casual environment. Service: Service was professional and polite. The hosts were prompt and on top of things. The server kept track of me and was attentive. The server also scraped the table clean of food pieces after I finished eating. The cook time was quite reasonable. Overall, I am satisfied with the service. Food: I ordered the 16 oz. New York strip medium rare and it was cooked about that temperature. I felt that the center was a little more rare than I liked, but it was still within what I wanted. As to be expected, the ends of the steak were more cooked than the center. The steak was about 2 inches tall. The steak had superb flavor. I have eaten at quite a few steakhouses before, but Gianni's had some of the best tasting steak. It was very beefy and salted well. The texture was tender, juicy and rich but still offered a good chew and it felt as though the flavor coated my mouth. There was also a bit of char flavor from the grill marks. Although it didn't seem that the whole steak was seared, the surface texture did offer a bit of a crust which worked well with the tenderness of the inside. The steak came with grilled garlic and bearnaise sauce. To me, the garlic was too watery and mushy and did not contribute to the steak. It feels like it's more there for decoration. The bearnaise sauce tasted a little too creamy and strong and overpowered the steak. I forgot to take a photo of the baked potato. The baked potato is quite standard and came with butter, sour cream and bacon which came on the side. The potato was quite large. The potato itself was surprisingly moist and I found the baked potato to be on the better end of baked potatoes. The only issue that someone may have is that it is a little difficult to eat the baked potato since like any baked potato, it is a bit difficult to remove the potato from the skin. I wouldn't recommend it for a date or professional meeting. Overall, the food is excellent. The flavor and texture of the steak were stellar. The baked potato was good and surprisingly moist. Price: The 16 oz. New York strip was $60, baked potato was $10 and the Mexican Coke was $4. So in total, $74 before tax and tip. Overall, I found the price to be reasonable and was quite happy with the experience for that price. Final thoughts: I think that Gianni's is a great steakhouse and would definitely recommend coming to Gianni's for a birthday or reunion or something along that line. The food is quite superb and can hold its weight against some of the most well-known steakhouses. Overall rating: 9/10

My significant other took me here for my birthday this year. It's one of my favorite restaurants. The food stands out for me!!! You won't find better stuffed hash browns in the city (in my opinion), but I have to say this visit my steak was one of the best I've ever had. We love steakhouse meals and this particular visit to Gianni's, we both were very impressed. The wine list is extensive, and drinks were delicious. My guy ordered key lime pie for dessert. We have made a habit of trying key lime pie ever since having it in Key West so we can compare it to where it is supposed to be the best anywhere. Gotta say, this pie was my favorite so far. It had such a beautiful flavor to it. A great friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere, a perfect date night for me, and a birthday meal.

The wagyu steaks melted as we tried them.... Amazing! Great service with an enormous wine selection. May have been the best lobster bisque I've ever tasted!

Google
Let me start by saying this place is certainly not the cheapest Walleye Fish around, BUT I can wholeheartedly say that the bit extra you pay is absolutely more than worth it! This is some really good and proper Walleye. I got the shrimp soup and salad. Everything is fantastic. Service was great, prompt and efficient.

Google
Nick took great care of us! All the staff was friendly and personable. We started out with martinis. I got a dirty martini which was perfection. We had oysters Rockefeller, which was very delicious, but for next time I would prefer plain oysters because the flavor of the shellfish was so good it didn’t need anything extra on it. My entree was a fillet mignon salad, with crostini baguette and papalette on the side to share. Best steaks we’ve ever had. I would skip the potatoes or bread to leave room for dessert next time! Cabernet was rich bodied, earthy, and overall the right complement to the meat. We were each offered a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. I chose a brandy Alexander for my dessert, and I wished I wasn’t too full to finish it! Terri has made the place truly special, and the staff seemed like a handpicked team who cared about each other, the customer, and serving exceptional food.

Yelp
This is the best Steak House in Minnesota! Terri and her team are top notch and the small details like the roasted garlic that comes with the steaks make it really superb!

Yelp
Booked a rezy here to take my boyfriend for a stellar steak to celebrate his health and turning 34! Gianni's did not disappoint and provided us a wonderful experience. Our server was so kind, insightful, and helped us order some favorite sides to go along with our steaks. We ordered a Black Angus NY Strip (160z) and a Filet Mignon (60z) with bread, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Both steaks came out cooked to order (Medium Rare on the Filet and Strip) with a side of a whole roasted garlic clove and a bearnaise sauce. Although I was not a fan of the bearnaise sauce, the garlic clove was instantly gone! The sides were also well done and delicious, although I would ask for a butter on the potatoes or something as they came out plain with no parsley, butter or a gravy. We spent about $150 (give or take) for our whole meal plus a cocktail and feel it was well worth the price. Also, since it was my boyfriend's birthday, they kindly sent us home with a decadent chocolate cake to enjoy at home. We look forward to visiting for their happy hour in the summer!

Yelp
We came here to celebrate our 6 month anniversary. It is a very special day for personal reasons, and we wanted to come someplace new that we had never been before. Although we could have hired a babysitter, we chose to bring my 18mo son. The owner and hostess greeted us at the door and we let them know we were about 30 min early. They were so very accommodating and got us a table right away! First of all, the setting alone right next to lake Minnetonka is absolutely gorgeous. They do have outdoor seating, but we chose to sit inside to have easier access to the high chair for my son. We only waited about 2 minutes before our table was ready. Our server Scott was beyond kind and he was sure to tend to my son's impatient needs quickly. He even brought us complimentary bread and croutons for our anniversary (normally $6)! Such a kind gesture, and he was so lovely to my son even when he was getting a little antsy. (The restaurant is pretty loud, so if you do have a louder party, it's nbd;) He even called himself "Grandpa Scott", lol it was very adorable. I started with the strawberry lychee margarita and asked if they could add a hint of spice to it. They did just that, & boy was it delicious. We ordered the A5 Waygu, the 16 ounce New York strip, a side of hashbrowns, asparagus, creamed, corn, and a baked potato with all the fixings. The food was absolutely fantastic! My favorite, to my surprise, was actually the creamed corn with bacon bits & the waygu steak. The ribeye also had phenomenal flavor! I had the passionfruit pineapple daiquiri with my dinner and that was also very tasty. Kudos to our kind server Scott, we will be requesting him as a server when we come again. Phenomenal dinner, thanks Giannis for a wonderful night.

Yelp
Food was good. Service and execution were sub standard for a restaurant of that caliber. Fully expected more. Had a planned a beautiful wedding dinner. Lots of communication with very poor execution.

Yelp
First off, if you have server Scott, you are in good hands. The staff here is very helpful and respectful. When you arrive, there is valet service out front which is very helpful. The restaurant is clean and nice and welcoming. My girlfriend went here for our anniversary and they nailed it with taking care of us. I ordered the New York strip with a baked potato and my girlfriend got the Waygu steak with asparagus and creamed corn. I will definitely be back soon. It's right off a lake so if you sit in the patio, that will be very nice.

Yelp
Escargot was mid, needed more garlic. Oysters Rockefeller tasty but have egg in them which I wasn't prepared for. 7/10 overall! Have been here before and both were better than this visit in their defense

Yelp
Food 4/5 - It was busy Saturday night at Giannni's and the place was packed. The wedge was fresh and tasty, the salmon was packed full of flavor and the vegetables were a nice pairing, and the steak was made to order and hot. They also gave us a free cheesecake for the birthday we were celebrating. Service / Ambiance 3.5/5 - The restaurant is very small and loud! We had a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night and were seated closer to 6:50. The waiting area is very small and right by the door so it can get crammed easily. Once we got to our table it was hard for our table of 4 to hear each other, it was a very noisy restaurant. The two servers were very attentive with our table and had great conversion. Service was great!

Mona M.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was great. Very nice place for a special occasion. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
We ate here for the first time. I never write reviews and felt the need to 100% write one. Their food was excellent and service was impeccable! We had such a lovely evening on the patio. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing food and service. Very respectful and knowledgeable staff who give great recommendations. Everything I've tried there is absolutely delicious - don't forget to try the hash browns! They come in a generous portion, enough to share with the table.

Yelp
Beautiful location. Somewhat understated, yet elegant. Great menu, food quality and presentation is excellent. And service has been superb with each visit! Be sure you make a reservation!

Yelp
Overall we had a pretty good experience here! Got in with a reservation same day during the week but would recommend making one for sure. We sat inside which was a bit noisy as they were packed full but good. Ordered a bread basket to start which I didn't take a picture of but had a few different types of bread. Yummy and free refills! We got the 12oz filet which comes with bernaise sauce and roasted garlic and some sides to split. The green beans came tossed with soy sauce and sesame seeds which were really different but good and the potato was soooooo awesome! It's not the individual hash brown side but called a potato pallpate or something like that? Hash brown mound filled with cheddar cheese, chives and sour cream mixed in. Soft and moist center but crispy outside. Really unique option and great side for the table! I think every table around us had one so we knew we had to try it. We chose to skip dessert but the options looked amazing and will definitely try next time. My only reason for not five stars is the service was very slow and the atmosphere was old school and noisy. It may have been more packed on the inside due to the weather but it was soo busy it wasn't a quiet or intimate experience. With that being said would still recommend if you're looking for a nice steak dinner!

Yelp
Gianni's Steakhouse was nothing short of amazing. We were seated 30 minutes before our reservation and within the first 15 minutes of being sat 6 different people came to our table! One for drinks, silverware, bread basket, etc. Our server was Devin and he checked in us numerous times during each course (very much appreciated!) everything was set up so nice, amazing music, T was great for valet service, amazing views, and overall nice people! Will definitely be returning in the future, and you should too.

Yelp
Giannis has a beautiful interior filled with good servers and cooks. Everyone was very nice and all the food was very good!

Michael B.

Yelp
The food is worth 3.5 stars. Hanging out at the bar is worth 4 stars. I wouldn't park my car with the valets, though. They drive your car like it's stolen and will abuse it regardless of how nice it is. They will speed through the ramp, go in the wrong way and have almost been hit by them multiple times either in my own car or walking in the ramp.
google avatar

Carter A.

Yelp
I would give them 5 stars if the would bring back table side spun salad, Steaks are awesome.

Greg F.

Yelp
Such a disappointment. This place has gone from "old school" to jiust old and tired. Food is in a decline.

Yelp
This was our first visit here. We had an incredible evening with great food and amazing service. Started at the bar with their signature old fashion which came recommended by the very friendly and knowledgeable Nate. Very tasty! For dinner, hubby and I both ordered steak. Hubby had the Delmonico which he said was one of the best steaks he's ever eaten. I had the 8oz filet which was perfectly cooked and delightfully tender. We would both order our steak choice again. As a side we had the potatoes papalete which is a type of hash brown cooked in a skillet and filled with sour cream, cheese and chives. A must-try if you are looking for a delightful potato side dish. Our incredible server, Michael, recommended the Key lime pie for dessert. A great choice and one of the best I've ever had. All of the staff here made this a memorable and delicious experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Nice Expensive but really nice old school grill staff very professional. The steaks are out of this world and you have to try the hash browns . Sides are table portion Size so sharing is encouraged don't drink but the bar is well stocked you will find something you like there as well. It's a fantastic dining experience nothing over the top but just a really pleasant dining experience ...will continue to enjoy there fare

Yelp
This is my second time at Gianni's. I'm a steak lover. I went with the dry aged limousin NY Strip. The bartender suggested it over the Black Angus Prime NY. I ordered the potatoes papallete, which is like hashbrowns but better. My wife and I got the shrimp cocktail for a starter. Pros - Old Fashioned was very good Potatoes Papallete amazing Shrimp was very good too Cons - Steak had decent flavor but no crust whatsoever. I think they char-grilled but had no char. Most high end steakhouses use high temp broilers to get a good crust. I should have gotten the prime rib. Bottom line, when paying $320 before tip, I expect a Ruth Chris or Capital Grille steak quality. If I ever go again I will be asking for cast iron cooking.
google avatar

Alexa D.

Yelp
Had an absolutely wonderful experience here this week!! One of my favorite restaurants in minnesota. Confused why this place only has 3.8 stars. The oysters Rockefeller are to die for. Also tried the French onion soup which was the best I've ever had. Sides were okay - we got the green beans and loaded baked potato. Ordered my steak rare plus and it was quite pink but absolutely phenomenal. The service is OUTSTANDING and all of the holiday decorations inside made for a delightful festive ambiance. I had a dirty martini and a Pinot noir and the blue cheese olives on the martini were awesome. Highly recommend Giannis if you are looking for a high-end steakhouse around Lake Minnetonka.

Jim L.

Yelp
Experience was delightful. Great outside seating. Great menu. Don't miss the salad...killer

Yelp
The server was OK not very attentive ordered a $75 steak came cold after waiting for it one hour and 15 minutes. I have spent a lot of money on steaks before and I'm not sure I have spent this much on Steak. I really wasn't good it was cold. I was impressed. The general manager sorted me out and is sending me an apology and was sincere about their mistake so I'll give them another chance.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dinner at Gianni's Steakhouse. A great dining experience like that starts with great service. Scotty was a 10/10 performer. Knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and accurate. He and his supporting cast were on top of everything. We had a larger group where it was, at times, difficult to hear anybody more than a chair away due to the noise level of a full place. For me, everything was prepared perfectly. I had the fillet and it was perfectly cooked. Very tender and full of flavor. A few in our group had the NY strip felt it was a little overcooked, and two individuals who got the walleye were underwhelmed by the size of the fillets. Even so, everybody was amazed by the meal and walked away very pleased with the choice of Gianni's for our get together.

Yelp
Giannis has maintained a fine dining experience. This was the first time I had been in the bar area, while waiting for reserved table to open up. Make no mistake, they are busy from open to close on a Saturday night. Almost standing room only. Everyone from the hostess to bartender to other patrons make you "feel at home" Ordering an app at the bar worked out great. The escargot was not overpowering, texture nice, bread great accompaniment. Dinner, I had lobster. A portion large enough for two days. They offer in shell or out. The spun salad is consistent from almost 3 decades ago. I had never had oysters Rockefeller here previously. Much like the escargot, the preparation was spot on. This doesn't present as a "pre-fab" restaurant in any way. It is evident their chef takes great care with the dishes and how he runs his kitchen. Courses were perfectly timed. The wait staff was attentive, without being imposing. I look forward to returning, Also, for how many patrons were there, the noise level was not overwhelming.

Yelp
Trendy little steakhouse set on Main Street in Wayzata, Gianni's definitely looks the part and presents itself as a stellar wine curator, as well. Our meal started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which was a bit underwhelming. The oyster quality was good, but the flavors added were just mediocre. Next up was the Delmonico steak, which was a very fine cut of beef. It was tender and had solid flavor. I loved that they automatically pair their steaks with bearnaise. Gianni's is solid enough, but doesn't compare to the top steaks in the Twin Cities such as P.S. Steak, Burch (RIP), Murray's, or Capital Grille.
google avatar

Stephen K.

Yelp
A wonderful place for life's special occasions when ordinary restaurants just won't do. Food is American fair to highest form. Service is always exceptional! Enjoy the Wayzata water front afterwards.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Was a great night out with top notch service and a very romantic environment. I loved the escargot and lamb chops. It was up there with baldamar as far as quality, the escargot was almost as good as Meritage. Hard to find anything wrong with this place and deserving of the price.

Yelp
So disappointed in our visit last night to celebrate a special occasion. Our waiter seemed indifferent from the start. Both salad orders were delivered with the incorrect ingredients. The $60 filet was super tough and we had to saw them with very dull steak knives. The filets that I buy from Cub and cook on my cast iron pan are far better that the meat we ate last night and it was two, not just one like this. To add insult to injury, my port never showed up with dessert. The key lime pie wasn't tart at all. We were REALLY looking forward to this night and couldn't have been more disappointed. When your bill comes to $450 including tip for four people, you're not allowed to have service like this and tough filet. We'll take our business to 6Smith, Cov, Macanda, anywhere else in Wayzata frankly.

Yelp
Quick review: Seating that lead to near blindness by a setting sun, Late appetizers, 6 steaks cooked wrong out of a party of 6, Cold sides, and no response to rectify the bad experience until they were prompted for one by our party. So, we arrived a party of 6 and they sat us at a round table near the windows on the end of the bar. Within 15 minutes the sun was already blinding my boss, who was seated next to me as we were facing the window. The waiter, Nick insisted it would be out of her eyes in 5-10 minutes and it was, and in mine now. And being even lower, was bright to the point of casing me a headache. They kept telling me it would be fine in 5-10 minutes, of which we told them, "You said that 5-10 minutes ago". I finally had to stand up, to which they positioned a long cushion from a bench, to block the sun. This was all due to a broken shade, that had been broken long enough for them to have had to explain this away before. All this with a perfectly empty round not 10 ft away. Once the sun set, we thought Ok, but OH NO... We all ordered apps, and I convinced 1 person in our party to order Escargot for the 1st time. This should have been the 1st app out, but it took over 10 minutes to arrive after all the other apps and salads were served. Of course, we all ordered, with the average steam being North of $75. I personally ordered the American Wagyu Delmonico at $90 and my boss got the Bone In Filet at $70. My bosses steam came out 1st. She was looking for medium rare and this steak was a solid Rare. She shook her head and it got sent back. The rest of our steaks arrived and, yes, every single one was NOT cooked properly. One in our party ordered a medium-well Fillet, and it came out bloody and mooing! My bosses steam cam out and it was still under and sent back a 2nd time. Ultimately the steaks got cooked, but by then all the sides were cold, including the infamous "papallete" which I have to say, I do not know what all the fuss is about. we finished the night with desserts and drinks, and as we were waiting realized that NO manager had ever came over to apologize or try manage the situation. THIS ON A TAB GROWING TOWARDS $1000! After a prompting to the waiter, a manager did show up and got a full 7 minute accounting of the mess the evening had been. I will say they gave our party a very generous credit towards the bill, but I have to say, my opinion of Giannis is unchanged from it s original when I was there in 2011 and watched the waitress break a cork on a $300 bottle of wine we had brought in and had to poke it into the bottle. I just do not get what all the fuss is about Gianni's... I have included a picture of my very underwhelming Delmonico that took 2 firings to get any crust and a Tomahawk steak I cooked better, at my home, for less than half the cost. Gianni's, I hope you read this and take notes....

Yelp
We came to Gianni's for my birthday dinner and it was an incredible experience. Our waiter was so friendly and made sure to wish me a happy birthday right off the bat! Making a reservation was so easy and we were seated right away. The food was delicious - I couldn't decide between steak and the pasta so had the filet mignon tip pasta. Best of both worlds! It was so creamy and a really sizable portion that I had enough to take home. We got a side of mashed potatoes which was very creamy and also enough to feed the both of us. I got a birthday dessert on the house which was really kind. The tres leches cake is spectacular and not weepy at all - very moist and great to share. Overall, an outstanding experience. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My review is actually about One Door West, Gianni's private room next door to their main dining room. I just attended a company holiday party here and I wanted to comment on how wonderful the space it! Beautiful mirrored walls and two enormous and very sparkly crystal chandeliers contribute to the atmosphere of celebration. The food of course was excellent too - waygu steak was out of this world! Highly recommend this space for a small company holiday party.

Yelp
Delicious! My husband took me here for my birthday, I had the filet, he walleye. Both were super delicious! Also they gave me a beautiful piece of cheesecake, I have never been a dessert person, but if I do, it's cheesecake.

Yelp
It's an institution in downtown Wayzata that should be experienced. The booths are a bit tight but the service is great - that kinda edgy carnivore server quip. As far as the food - the steaks were perfectly made and very good. Prices are comparable to Manny's and most of the other steak joints but you don't need to schlep all the way to Minny and pay ridiculous parking/valet prices. Get a salad, lobster bisque.....and there is a large outdoor patio open virtually year round. Great view of Lake Minnetonka Gray's Bay.

Scott H.

Yelp
It had been a while since we were at Giannis and it was as good as I remembered. Great food with generous portions. Our server was outstanding. We had a great time and will be back soon. I highly recommend Giannis if you are looking for great Italian food.

In a day and age of local creative foodie restaurants are rampant, this restaurant feels dated and unoriginal. The food was good, but unremarkable. The service for That priced restaurant was sub par. Our meal was almost $250 and our waiter did not give recommendations or know the wine menu. My recommendation was if you are looking a fancy night out head down the street to 6 smith or even Sushi Fix, but Giannis is a relic.

Yelp
Ambiance - 10/10 - Amazing outdoor view, awesome patio, beautiful decor inside. Price 8/10 - Burger was $18 but it was HUGE and came with a ton of delicious fries. Burger was GREAT! Kid friendly 5/10 - Fancy place, so I wouldn't want to bring my kids. They do have a kids menu and the price is $10 per meal. Taste 9/10 - burger - so many choices for toppings I didn't know what to get. My husband requested the egg and I wanted the mushrooms. The burger was flavorful and juicy (cooked medium). My husband liked the egg, me- no, We loved the mushrooms - they were thick and flavorful mushrooms. I would probably add grilled onions next time - and blue cheese. House salad is a MUST! Absolutely delicious!!! Parking 9/10 - Along the street and free Service 9/10 - Great server, lost him at the end - he was busy! Overall 9/10 - You MUST to this place on a nice day! The patio is beautiful and it's right on Lake Minnetonka. 4-6 is happy hour - $2 or 3 dollars off drinks and a few apps.

Yelp
Was greeted warmly upon arrival and seated promptly for our anniversary dinner reservation. Service was on point, friendly and present whenever needed. I had the fried chicken which was recommended to me. I know what you are thinking, fried chicken at a steak place!? Let me tell you - WORTH IT. Very very good - the breading was *chef's kiss*. Wife had a small fillet, and said it was like butter. She offered me a bite and I said, "only if you are not going to finish it"...and she finished it. Our mains were simply outstanding. My fries, however, were barely just okay, and same for the broccolini. Both lacked any flavor. Beer selection was decent for what I learned was a wine heavy crowd. Also had an old fashioned which was very good. Overall a great experience and I would absolutely return.

Yelp
Food was good. (Table spun salad, lobster bisque, filet mignon with blue cheese, side of mushrooms, potato papalette, asparagus, and key lime pie). Suggestions for improvement: 1) The spinach side seemed like it was missing something. I think it would be better if it were creamed. 2) I wish the restaurant would keep up with the times and cater to the sober/pregnant people... Can you have mocktails please??? I ordered a screw up (7up and orange juice) and i felt like it didn't mesh with the meal. I was craving a lavender drink and they didn't have it.

Yelp
Wonderful steak and seafood restaurant with an old school charm. Top notch food and wines. Service is always excellent. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Arrogant staff. Planning to eat but bar staff can't be bothered. This is a local joint and they will ignore you if they don't know you. Food is over-priced for quality for pedestrian cooking. Not a fan.

Yelp
Great place for an upscale meal in downtown Wayzata. The escargot is to die for and is accompanied by great bread. I am an avid French onion lover and this one was great.

Yelp
I love this place but was disappointed last night when I ordered the NY strip for the first time. I was focused on the bone-in option, not realizing that there was another one on the menu not bone in. They brought that one which I ate because I didn't want it to be awkward for everyone as we were a party of four. Why didn't the waitress ask which NY strip I wanted since there are 2 options? Pretty easy. Big miss.

Yelp
If you're looking for an upscale steakhouse ambiance and service levels to match in beautiful Wayzata, Gianni's is the place. If you're willing to pay a pretty dime for your steak and steep prices for a la carte items (because they don't even include a baked potato with their steak entrees?!), Gianni's is the place. A group of 7 of us came here Saturday night for a birthday celebration. None of us had ever been here before but commented how nice the decor was. True steakhouse sophistication. Like I said above, service is very good. Waters were always topped off, extra wine glasses removed, extra plates provided, splitting bills accurately, etc. Here's where I have some negative feedback: warm bread basket was slow to arrive, at least a good 5 minutes after we placed our order. A side of very mediocre French fries cost $7 - yikes. If you're going to charge for something so ordinary, at least try to jazz it up a bit. I thought it was far too expensive. The side of roasted garlic that accompanied each steak was dry, bitter, and NOT a good compliment with the meat. Disappointed because I love roast garlic. Like I said above, a la carte prices were unreasonable. $6 for a baked potato? Uh no. Where Gianni got it right was the special of the night - halibut. Served with creamy rich risotto peas and shrimp, this dish was delicious. So much so that my friend ordering a steak literally asked for her steak to be packed up so she could order the halibut as her dinner entree!

Yelp
Went very last minute, nicely greeted and we settled for high tops considering we had no rez. Wasn't long at all, server was splendid, few minor mishaps but so effortlessly corrected (coming from a 12yr server/bartender/manager) Best and now favorite rockafeller oysters, top tier!! And then the icing on the cake, was her being so kind and going out of her way to bring me a birthday to go candle for my cheesecake. We were so full and satisfied but dessert was a necessity!! Just a first time customer now a long time one and telling EVERYBODY!!

Yelp
Overpriced wannabe of a great steakhouse. Been there 2 times and each time the steak we ordered was not cooked properly. And this is a steak joint!! Service was excellent but the price doesn't match the quality of the food. Much less expensive steakhouses in the TC metro.

Yelp
Wow this place is quite comparative to a Ruth Chris' Steakhouse, the steaks are 100% grass fed and they're prepared perfectly. It comes with a whole thing of garlic and béarnaise sauce on the side, honestly I don't eat garlic and the sauce was a little cinnamon flavored so I wasn't the biggest fan, but the steak was still amazing and my boyfriend loved the sauce and garlic. We ordered a ribeye and the 6oz filet and both were prepared perfectly. We ordered the potatoes hash browns that are stuffed with cheese and chives, pretty good, for sure order the half size cause it's still huge. We also ordered the side of corn and this was amazing. Everything comes out super hot so be careful. For appetizers we had the basket of bread which has free refills and also the escargot, which is such a treat since it is hard to find in MN. The only thing this place doesn't have over Ruth Chris is the ambiance. They decorate it well but when you look at the overall structure of the place it could be way nicer. Our booth was nice but it felt no better than sitting at a both at Perkins. But they do get very busy so maybe this is how they flip tables easily. For dessert we got the key lime pie, it was SO GOOD, literally will make you salivate. Make sure you make a reservation. Though, we made one for Friday a week in advanced and the options were either 5PM or 9PM. So you'll want one if you're going on a weekend.

Yelp
I only took a video of the food and it wont let me post but I will say the food is very good. The green beans were soggy so those weren't my favorite and mashed potato's were good just need some seasoning. But the lamp fell if the bone and same with the steak. I had 2 cocktails which were good as well. I always think an old fashion goes good with steak houses, so I recommend that one! The only down side is we didn't get bread until we asked and when we got our bill we had 3-5 extra charges we didn't purchase. Yes they fixed it but it was $60 difference after you take it off. I'm not sure if it was an accident or are they use to people just paying and not looking at the tab. So a good 3-4 star experience.
