Philly’s New Giant Grocery Store Opens With an Underground Taproom - Eater Philly

"Philly’s third Giant Heirloom Market, the smaller, Whole Foods-esque entry in the brand’s chain of grocery stores, opens Friday, November 15, and comes complete with a bar. The new bi-level, 13,000-square-foot store includes an olive oil and vinegar blending station, a fancy cheese section, wine and beer, sushi, kombucha on tap, and lots of gluten-free and vegan items. Local food sellers are represented in the form of baked goods from Isgro and cheeses and charcuterie from Claudio, both in the Italian Market; a pretzel cart from High Street on Market; and coffee from One Village." - Rachel Vigoda

The store overall is nice. They have beer, wine which is nice. Kind of gross that dogs are allowed inside (they’re clearly not service animals) and people put their dogs in the cart!? Only self checkout which can get busy. Fine for a quick stop.

They have a great selection in a navigatable space. Their self checkouts are monstrous and you will be stopped at least 10 times per checkout requiring assistance for ridiculous reasons like reorganizing your items on their miniscule scale. Whoever owns this location needs to fix it.

So far so good. Prices are comparable to whole foods and trader Joe's so if you live in the area it will be almost the same after you factor in gas/bus-subway or an Uber/Lyft ride to go west to the two other stores. Strolled around to see how things are and it's very clean and organized. Staff was very friendly as you passed by them. The downstairs section is AWESOME. Arcade games, jenga-other games, a lot of seating and a vast selection of beer. The wall with the taps is incredible. Grab a glass and enjoy And @paul in the other review. Really dude? It's a highly congested area and they had to put the store in the best place that they could find. Other come mid day where there is parking within a two block radius or walk. Editing my review 5 stars to 4 stars 7/10/20 due to purchasing vegetables over the past few months and them going bad at a fast rate. Also purchased a yogurt which did not expire but didn't smell so good. String beans going bad on 7/5 before the expiration date of 7/15

Small but good for the basics. Lots of plant based options. Found guten free Ramen soup in a cup. Stop in the basement for wine and beer on tap. Video games . Tons , I mean tons of beer selections cold and warm. Make your own 6 pack. Place to eat your sandwiches from the counter up stairs.

Extremely rude staff. I went in and one of their machines was broken, so I tried to move machines, and one of the attendants rudely questioned why I moved and refused to let me move. There was nobody else in the store. They kept asking me why I moved and were all-around argumentative. It has a "nice" location near a lot of apartments like the Piazza, but the customer service is very bad.

I had a terrible experience at this Giant involving getting scammed and needles. I went to purchase two gift cards. The employees were having an issue registering the cards and had to go back to get new cards. After leaving the store I checked the activated cards and neither had a balance. While back in the store, unsuccessfully trying to get a refund for the ineptly loaded two $500 gift cards I bought ten minutes ago a security guard bashed a woman standing next to me over the head with a shopping basket. He mentioned after the scuffle that she was coming at him with a needle…. Needless to say I won’t be back in this Giant.

I'm not generally a squeamish person, but shopping here skeeved me out. The eggplants were more brown than purple, the sweet corn was shriveled and dry, the watermelon bin had multiple rotting and/or moldy melons in it, and there was mystery brown schmutz all over the half gallon of milk I went to buy.

Great neighborhood store. BUT I will always go to ACME instead. ACME has Self Service Point of Sale system that makes sense. You can scan QR code from the fruit, place them on the scale and that's it. In this store you have to tell the POS that you want to enter something, manually enter the item code, make a selection and confirm. Only then you can place an item on the scale and move on to the next item. To do it all over again. If you do anything not by their script - everything freezes and "help is on the way". I usually get at least one, some times two "help is on the way" per checkout. I do not want to learn your rules. Please make it work effortlessly
