I really like eating here. Honestly the atmosphere is super chill and the workers here are very hidden if that makes sense. Like no one is bothering you, or anything like that. Its great! I eat here a lot, I usually just find a booth and put in my earpods and watch a Netflix show while I eat. It's super relaxing! The food is great, the shrimp 🦐 are wonderful, especially the coconut shrimp. Bourbon chicken is great, the cream cheese wontons are amazing! I would suggest this place to many other people. I hope you enjoy!

I've always love coming to this restaurant when I'm in Fargo. Their meat is awesome. Their General Tsao was "cold" for me... I love my food hot-hot-hot. Had my fill of fiber for dessert. Left their establishment fat and happy.

Google
Giant Panda is a fairly good buffet style restaurant. The food is generally hot, tasty and fresh. They have a fairly large selection of items. They do a good job of keeping the buffet fresh, even during slow times. The staff is fairly attentive and will clean your table of used plates a few times during your stay. Just like all buffets in town the prices keep rising and it is getting near twenty dollars for a meal. The meal however has the drink included.

Google
Plenty of seating, has a buffet with a large selection. Very nice employees and good price. Ordered the buffet, still feel full hours later, I need to find a couch! Clean buffet and clean restrooms, clean restaurant. They even have a payphone!

Google
Hi everyone! I just wanted to review this place that now holds a very special place in my heart. This restaurant is run by good people who are always kind and sincere on the phone and when I walk in. They know my order and my name. There is a guy at the counter who is super respectful and genuinely seems grateful for your visit. As do the Chinese staff diligently making awesome food! I've come in so many times and I have been given complimentary rangoons, hot and sour soup, and even a beverage on 3 separate occasions. It is my favorite place to eat! Always delicious, always phenomenal service, and always warm familiar smiles when I walk in. This feels like a hometown restaurant with a foreign cuisine. I highly recommend you check it out for yourselves. They have a huge menu, great prices, and portions that actually fill you up. One last thing. They make the food to order, so it always comes out hot and made with love from the kitchen. ❤️🙏

Google
Nice staff and clean tables but, c'mon, you can't serve a shrimp dish and not de-vein the shrimp. For those who don't know - It's not a vein. It's the digestive tract and the black stuff you see is poop. Yes, if the shrimp is cooked to a safe temp, it's not going to harm you...but it's poop nonetheless. So good luck with that, y'all. The egg rolls were mush and there was something bone-like in my chicken. What used to be an go-to place for lunch is now a hard pass.

Google
I was impressed with the smiling and friendly staff, the place was clean. The food is also high quality, tasty and fresh! I may be driving three hours south to go there again from where I lived. I highly recommend this business, service was amazing.

Google
Some of my favorite chinese food locally. There was a mix up with my card at one point (my fault!) and they offered me a free soda. I love this place <3

Stacy H.

Yelp
Food was depleted. No sushi put out..2 pieces. I'm sure it will take a little while to get back on track. I will go back in a month to try again. I have always loved this place.

Chris A.

Yelp
Higher or highest price in town for Chinese buffet but lowest quality and quantity. Sushi only had two rolls and types. 1 with crab and 1 veg. and were cheap quality All shrimp items not deveined/still had the poop! General tzo tastes like BBQ Fish was Swai which is a cheap fish Some buffet lines shut down or mostly empty/not set for food. We tried as never been...never again!

Andy S.

Yelp
Food is always hot, service has never been an issue always friendly. Restaurant is always clean, i have seen them mop the floor when it's wet outside and customers have muddy dirty shoes just to clean up the restaurants

Yelp
There's only three of us in our family, so we have a nice little holiday tradition where we always order takeout on holidays, so no-one has to cook. First of all, loved that Giant Panda was open, that was fantastic! So, we ordered online for butter shrimp, shrimp lo-mein, sweet and sour and a bunch of cream cheese wontons. I was a little nervous after ordering because I didn't get a confirmation, but when I went along the food was ready as promised. The staff was friendly and the entry was clean, even better, the food was great! I don't think there are many places you can get butter shrimp anymore, and Giant Pandas is the best! Also, loved the cream cheese wontons, stuffed with cream cheese, not just a tiny amount. All great, and Giant Panda is definitely a contender for Christmas dinner in our household!

Yelp
Spider web on window not clean restaurant but good food would recommend for new people of this state

Yelp
If you like this type of Chinese food great. It's not the best or the worst, kind of in the middle. Lots of options of course as you would expect at a all you can eat place. So if your looking for a quick meal & your craving a buffet style environment then this should would work for you. Pricing is not bad too. Enjoy!

Heidi Z.

Yelp
We ordered from Giant Panda on 7/5/2024, the food was disgusting. The Beef with Vegetables, the beef was rubbery. We also ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and got 5 small pieces of Chicken. Cost for this was $67, not ordered from Giant Panda again!

Yelp
Giant Panda has recently become one of our go to Chinese buffets in the Fargo-Moorhead area. They have made improvements in their flavor and quality since I first moved here many years ago. The Giant Panda trys to welcome you with a smile and a fairly clean restaurant. The wait staff seems to be enjoying their job and are helpful and smiling. They do a good job of keeping the buffet stocked, clean and looking fresh. The buffet quality is better then most buffets in town. The selection is fairly large and it is usually fresh and hot even during the slower periods although there have been slow times when the food has cooled some but was still warm. The Hot and Sour soup is delicious. I enjoy the fried rice, despite it somewhat mushy texture, and rice noodles mixed with vegetables. The beef and broccoli is a solid choice with decent flavor, the gravy however could use a little thickening. By no means am I saying the Giant Panda is a great Chinese Restaurant. I am only comparing it to other Midwestern Chinese Buffets not to sit down, order off the menu restaurants. The price is fairly standard for a buffet in the Fargo-Moorhead area. 17 dollars for dinner and weekends. 15 dollars for lunch. The cost includes unlimited sodas which is nice.

Yelp
It is a Chinese buffet, but it's certainly the best Chinese buffet in town. It's the only Chinese in town I've found that actually has some flavor and doesn't just taste like cooking oil. They have a great selection on the buffet and it is always clean. This is the only Chinese food that I'll eat in the FM area.

Yelp
Service was also good. Kept dirty dishes cleared. Staff very friendly . Food choices kept full.

Yelp
The place offers a variety of food. I wouldn't recommend the Japanese section, because the rice in sushi tasted really odd. However, in the other side, the food was amazing. The fish was my favorite. Cleanliness: The table was fairly sticky & dirty. Have student discount. I'd recommend this place.

Yelp
Wonderful service and food! Very cozy ambiance. Felt taken care of and left very full!!! :-)

Yelp
Quick, cheap and open on a Sunday evening. I sampled most everything on the buffet, the General Tso's chicken and cream cheese wontons were the highlights. Was super happy to stumble across this place while driving through an otherwise lackluster town. I'm glad I ignored Fargo's pathetic attempt at Yelp reviews, you negative-reviewers should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Kc M.

Yelp
Fresh and fast delivery. Very friendly staff and buffet is also great. Highly recommended

Deb L.

Yelp
I tried it today after they switched owners, loved going there prior before it switched owners. I went at 1pm with hopes since it was around the lunch hour the food would be fresh. Nothing and repeat nothing was fresh, everything tasted old as if it was put back on the buffet for days on end. Even the cream cheese wontons were old, the cream cheese was sour tasting and looked iffy. I was so disappointed, almost $17 bucks for a stomach ache. I took maybe five bites and couldn't eat anymore, it was that bad.
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Food was cold for most items. The rice was mushy, chicken and beef were rubbery. The food was what you would expect from a $6 buffet, not $17. Will never go back and amazed they are still open; no idea who would return after an initial visit. I thought we would try the place again to see if it has changed since coming approximately 15 years ago; looks like the reason we never came back has not changed.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the variety and quality of the buffet. They had 4 lines with one focused on salad type options, one with soups/egg rolls/dumplings/won tons/etc and the other two with many entree options. In addition there were some dessert options along the beverage line. I didn't pay much attention but I believe we paid about $12 each???? While the restaurant looks tired and dated with the (90's?) decor and worn carpeting, the place seemed very clean and the food area was immaculate. The staff was attentive and friendly. I would definitely go back again.

Yelp
We saw crows feeding on a huge pile of garbage in the Giant Panda parking lot and just kept going without eating there. There is no excuse for this.....

Sam U.

Yelp
I am absolutely baffled that this restaurant is rated so low the food was amazing and the staff was incredible we went at night time and before leaving they gave us to go boxes and gave us the food left. I will always remember the generosity that this place offered and I will 100% be coming back. FYI the place was very clean and warming.
google avatar

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and don't go here. $32 for two people.. I also tipped so I spent $42 to have half a plate of cold food. Terrible absolutely terrible nothing was coming out and everything was picked over... but we were the only ones in there with one other guy. Also I don't eat meat and there was "veggie spring rolls" yeah I took a bite and there was chicken in it. The manager just apologized and said nothing else. What an awful place. I can't believe I wasted my money here. Do better. If I could give zero stars and close this place down, I would.
google avatar

Stacey B.

Yelp
We had went to this place many time before throughout the years and the food was always good but had read somewhere else they changed owners, the food is not all that great anymore we thought. The waiters were on top of filling everyone's drinks and taking plates. The tables are sticky, which the waiter explained as we sat down, she assured us the table was clean but sticky, someone had to use the wrong cleaner on them.

James C.

Yelp
The food selection was good as well as tasty. The remodeling supported a friendly buffet environment. Would recommend when with indecisive menu friends... plenty of choices.

Yelp
RUN AWAY!!! This was such a waste of money! The service was nice and the store was pretty clean, but I wish I could see the state of the kitchen. I came for the crab legs. I cracked one open, and there was no meat in it! I cracked another one open, and again, NO MEAT. My husband and I sat cracking away at a pile of crab legs and all we found was a little bit sandy fishy flesh in the body, and some disturbingly green meat in the claws. Super disappointing, but at least there's plenty of other good stuff...right? Wrong. Nothing tasted right. The cream cheese wontons were edible. Nice selection of soups but they all tasted like greasy water. The rice was cooked improperly. Even the coffee tasted like it had been sat in the basement for a couple days. I wanted to like this place and end my search for the best local Chinese buffet, but the search continues. I tried everything, to give it a fair chance, and ended up in the restroom throwing up. I feel bad writing this, but please save yourself from a terrible experience. Money and food wasted. I will not be giving this restaurant a second chance.

Yelp
Last weekend we ordered 3 plates of the sweet and sour chicken for take out and my father crunched down on a thick and sharp piece of plastic. Picture attached. The restaurant offered to refund his meal, but not the rest. Why would we continue eating the food? What other plastic is lurking in there?! Took a little back and forth to get them to refund the entire total price which was wrong. If he would have swallowed this he would have been in the ER. Unsanitary and dangerous! We were loyal customers, but won't be anymore.

Yelp
Oh my was this Chinese ever good. I've eaten at quite a few Chinese restaurants around the country and I have to say I'd put the flavor of Giant Panda above about 95% of the others. To be honest I don't recall any other being any better. If you like Chinese you really gotta try Giant Panda.

Tanya P.

Yelp
I used to love ordering from here. Very good food but I'm going to have to stop now being their prices have gotten so high and then when I ordered my wontons and egg rolls they are half the size. You should not be paying more for way less food.
google avatar

Jen A.

Yelp
I am from out of town and often order Chinese delivery from my hotel. Delivery took a little while, but was very hot and very fresh when it arrived. Great flavors! Would've given five stars if it were not for the very small Scallops. This is definitely above average. I would give it 4 1/4 stars if I could.
google avatar

Cari G.

Yelp
Along with updating their decor they also updated the menu. My favorite dishes are gone, there is no beef on the buffet and the sushi is disgusting. Very disappointed

Jody W.

Yelp
First time eating here and will be my last. We received an entree we never ordered and was not charged for. Received another entree we didn't order but was billed for. Let's talk about quality of food. YUCK! The egg foo young was cooked in a deep fat fryer, it was greasy, bland and looked like everything that previously was left in the oil was attached to it. The so called fried rice was sticky rice with some sort of sauce put on it. The wontons in the soup were still doughy. It was like eating uncooked pie crust. The best thing was the chicken on a stick. If I could rate it with no stars I would
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten a lot of standard Chinese restaurant food in cities where I lived including Chicago and Minneapolis, and I can say I am almost always disappointed by the quality of food at nearly every restaurant. HOWEVER, Giant Panda is this weird anomaly of PERFECTLY cooked made-to-order Chinese every time I have eaten there... And this is in Fargo, North Dakota. Being a vegetarian, I don't eat the buffet, which I think is unfair to expect to be perfect like other reviews have complained about. It's a buffet: the food will not be straight from the kitchen and therefore NOT perfectly textured and temperature controlled, which is why Michelin Star restaurants aren't buffets. But if you order made-to-order, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The flavors are spot on, especially for run-of-the-mill dishes. Don't expect strong heat or uniquely elevated spices, as this is Fargo after all, and the main customer base wouldn't respond to that. Add some Sriracha, and you'll be set. But if you want perfectly cooked vegetables (and meats? I've only ordered tofu) with wonderfully savory sauces, Giant Panda is the way to go! The price point on the food is good, with good portions. Definitely worth the money.
google avatar

Roxanna J.

Yelp
Super disappointing food the Fried rice is half white half fried because it's not mixed well. they're cream cheese wontons are under cooked and the cream cheese pours out of them their sweet-and-sour sauce taste like nothing but straight water down ketchup very disappointed in the new owners

Ronald N.

Yelp
I ate t 1245p today. Warming tables were barely lukewarm. Very limited selection and they all tasted the same (seriously)!! I should have gotten the hint because there were only two cars (besides mine) in the parking lot. I would recommend the Panda Express or the "super buffet" or pick a different venue because you would not be satisfied here.

T W.

Yelp
Not a bad quick meal. They let you sample each dish. I thought this was a nice touch if you are not familiar with their process Julie was helpful making suggestions and explaining the choices on ordering. Giant panda is not a buffet. The food was temperature hot not luke warm like most b Kung PO chicken had nice fresh crisp vegetables. The sirloin steak was spicy and a burst of flavor. I would not have ordered if I had not tried the steak.
google avatar

Alexis H.

Yelp
Not authentic Chinese food but overall good quality. Great customer service as well. Price can not be beat, even in North Dakota. Delivered fast and on a holiday!! Didn't do the buffet, but I am sure the food is similar. Only problem is the sauce-food ratio was ridiculous.... be prepared to throw out some.

Yelp
Success! Another great Chinese place in Fargo! It's taken a long time to find one, but I think this is our favorite one now. We took advantage of their delivery (even to Moorhead), so we can't comment on what the place looks and feels like on the inside; but the food was great!! We ordered egg rolls, mushroom fried rice, Szechuan chicken, and their House chicken. While the egg rolls were a bit more peppery than we usually like, they tasted freshly made and and not warmed up from a microwave (like many of the egg rolls at other more popular Chinese places seems to serve). The fried rice was equally good too. One difference in theirs from others we've had was to include peas and carrots into the mix. Not bad, but different. The rice itself and mushrooms were super good. Both chicken dishes were totally satisfying. The Szechuan was appropriately spicy (hot, but not so much that you can't enjoy it) and the House chicken was prepared perfectly too. This we found out was basically their sweet and sour chicken; but the difference is that the sweet and sour chicken has the s and s sauce on the side, while the House chicken has it on top. Both dishes had a variety of veggies as well and they were tasty. It was, of course, served with a box of white rice too. The best part . . . despite being delivered all the way to Moorhead, it was still hot! Kudos to the delivery driver on that one! I do think I can say that Giant Panda will be our Chinese go-to from now on.
google avatar

Lyndsey C.

Yelp
Love this place. Will deliver rain or shine... Perfect portions. We always got plate 4 with white rice instead of fried rice and cream cheese wontons.... Every Sunday until we moved. I miss it! Recommended :)
google avatar

Tino K.

Yelp
Oh, Giant Panda, how I love to eat your delicious, greasy food when I am hungover. My friends and I used to frequent this place Sunday afternoons after late nights of some serious binge drinking the evening before. We were the loud, obnoxious group who always tried to avoid sitting near families so they wouldn't have to be subjected to our potty mouths. Is this the best Chinese in town? Arguably not, but it's better than most other buffets in town and is reasonably priced. Highlights for me include the greasy lo mein noodles, the butter shrimp (which can be hard to find at buffets and is one of my favorite things ever), the cream cheese wontons, General Tso's chicken, the mushrooms, and the peppered chicken. The food is consistent and predictable, which is a plus when your head is throbbing and you just want to stuff your face with greasy Chinese.

Deb S.

Yelp
This has been my go to for the buffet to go for over a decade. Now with new ownership the buffet price is not a flat fee, it's per pound. I chose to not purchase and drive downtown to King House. So disappointed in losing my favorite Chinese place.
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
Chinese Buffet in Fargo, North Dakota is pretty good. This is a picture of black peppered chicken, chicken fried rice, egg roll, bread stick, and a cup of coffee w/ sugar. Price is decent and the desserts are wonderful as well. Vanilla ice cream with strawberry topping is great as well!! Would recomend.

Jeff T.

Yelp
Service was non existent. Food didn't seem fresh and most was lukewarm. Expensive ($15) for a Chinese buffet. I've had much better Chinese food in FM area.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
This is one of the only Chinese places that deliver in Fargo. I was very pleased with the wonton soup and the pot stickers, but the scallop with garlic sauce was a little fishy tasting. If I wanted delivery I would order from here again.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Horrid. We went during supper time, there was hardly anybody there, yet most of the food was either gone, old, flavorless or cold. The bourbon chicken had to of been sitting out all day, because it was hard and stale tasting, talk about rocks, because that's how hard the sugar donuts were. There are way better places to eat Chinese in Fargo.

Georgia L.

Yelp
I ordered 2 combo plates and an order of fried wontons for pick up today. Service was great, food was hot and the portions were huge. Seriously, we ate until we were full, and didn't make a dent. Everything was tasty, and we really enjoyed our dinner! Thanks for the great meal, Giant Panda! Cheered us up during our social distancing...
google avatar

Kristina S.

Yelp
Some food already is cold n tastes old and they just opened an hour ago but some is just right..like the spring rolls..decent place to eat but they could be a bit better at keeping food fresh

Jordan M.

Yelp
Good wasn't that good kinda bland, when we asked for drinks they were rude to us! He lady at the front desk was nice!! for 2 people was $30 A lot of the food was hard! The white rice was extremely hard and not edible. The only food item I like was the sour and spicy soup!
google avatar

Marie O.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place because of all the reviews, unfortunately my experience was not as great. The food all looked like it had been sitting out for awhile and I was underwhelmed by the options, will keep on searching for a good Fargo Chinese place.

Pam S.

Yelp
This was some of the worst food I have ever eaten. When we were in Fargo we always went to the Giant Panda to eat as the food was wonderful. All there was on the buffet was chicken which was pretty tasteless. Always went for the coconut shrimp and deep fried shrimp. Chicken dishes were very good not this time. The worst thing I seen was a fish head that you were suppose to pick the meat out of. I was really disappointed by the meal we got. We will not go back there again to eat. Even Jamestown ND. has better Chinese food then we got the other day in Fargo. Pretty bad when a place as small as Jamestown has better food then the Giant Panda in Fargo. People beware of the tasteless food do not waste your money. Must be better places to eat Chinese in Fargo just have to find the restaurant.

Cloressa S.

Yelp
The food was completely lacking in flavor and everything was cooked improperly. The fried rice was both over and under cooked at the same time (not sure how they managed that) and the lo mein noodles were mushy.
