I learned about this place during an event and was really excited to see what all they had to offer. Maybe my expectations were set a bit too high, but this was a bit of a disappointment.
What they're known for is their whiskey, and that honestly did not disappoint. You can do a whiskey flight and try a few of their drinks for a decent price of $20. I think you get like 4 or 5 tastings with that, so a great way to see which whiskeys you enjoy. Where they fell a bit short with this though is that there was no one to explain what you were drinking, or any notes about what you should be looking for. It was a straight up, here's your flight, enjoy. So if you're looking to learn a bit more about whiskey, not really the place to go. If you're looking to just drink and taste things, sure, this is a great place.
I also did enjoy their mixed drinks, averaged priced, but they have a good variety if you're not a big whiskey fan, but want to try something else as well. I did try one of their seasonal drinks, it was a cinnamon apple drink which tasted good, but a bit too sweet for my taste. It needed a bit of acid to brighten it up and freshen it a bit. I'm also a bit on the fence on how I feel that they had an autumn cocktail specials list in January. I'm glad they still had it because I love Fall, but sad that they didn't update it to the season.
My biggest disappointment was the food. I truly believe that you can make bar food great. This place, unfortunately, just fell flat for me in taste, portion, pricing, and service. I'll start with the good - I highly recommend the loaded fries. I think for the value, taste, and what you get, it's the most worth it and best bang for your buck. It was pretty tasty and for $11 was a good portion size. It's large enough to share, or to eat as an entree. For the mains, my favorite was the grilled cheese. When it came out, the size was pretty decent and I really enjoyed how thick it was. I did get it with a side salad, which was a bit disappointment since it was a sprinkle of Caesar salad, and seemed a bit skimped on.
The other things that we tried that wasn't my favorite were the chicken tenders. First off, chicken tenders is a pretty popular dish, but this didn't even come out as big chicken strips or what I would consider as tenders. They were more chicken nuggets, and were like schoolroom cafeteria chicken tenders that didn't have much flavor to them. Also, you're paying like $13 for like 5 little nuggets and a handful of fries (for an extra $2). It just didn't seem worth it. You'd need to get 2 orders to make it feel a bit more worthwhile to order.
Aside from the taste of food, what was disappointing was the service. It started off great because when we sat down, they were attentive, brought us water, and gave us menus. However, in our party, they forgot one of our orders, even though we reminded them multiple times, one person never got their food within the course of 1.5 hours. It was also really hard to flag down a server to even pay. We're ready to leave and trying to ask for the check, but it took another 10 minutes to close out and pay.
I think this place has great potential to be amazing, but they still need to make a few adjustments. Wishing them the best going forward.
