Where To Drink The Best Pints Of Guinness In London

"The One We Tell All Our Friends About At Gibney's, perfect strangers spill their holiday plans at the bar—Cork, tomorrow morning, an early flight, it was a mistake—and pints of Guinness—creamy, smooth, and taste a bit like coffee and a bit like chocolate—are lined up with precision. Unlike us after drinking several, these pints are perfectly balanced. The screens at this Old Street spot are massive, and if there’s football or rugby on, they’ll be showing it." - sinead cranna

The 13 Best Bars In Shoreditch

Perfect strangers spill their holiday plans with you at the bar—Cork, tomorrow morning, an early flight, it was a mistake—and pints are lined up with precision. If you’re here to eat, and we recommend you do, nab one of the snug wooden booths where you can eat a beef and bone marrow cheeseburger in relative peace. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing

Where To Break Up With Someone In London

"From births to break-ups, if EastEnders has taught us anything, it’s that bars are the perfect venue for a dramatic moment. Gibney’s, an Irish bar in Old Street, is dimly lit so if you do manage to squeeze out a few tears (the Oscar is in the post), the people across from you will never know. It’s also an incredibly friendly spot which makes it ideal for shooing your (now) ex partner away and making friends with the regulars. And, if the break-up is leaving a bad taste in your mouth, just take another sip of your pint—the Guinness here is some of the best in London. " - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Gibney’s London Review - Old Street - London - The Infatuation

"At Gibney’s, the chances of sharing your life story with a stranger at the bar, losing your keys, and writing a sonnet declaring your undying love for their Guinness are very high. Great pub, great Guinness, live music and the food upstairs was very good too (Daffodil Mulligans). We shared a chateaubriand, nicely cooked but slightly over priced. The sides were amazing; the mash and cabbage were the stars of the show

I've been a regular at Gibenys for a while now, and I've had nothing except the best erivce and guiness. The staff, Paddy in particular, have been kind, helpful and attentive. This has earned the position of my go to bar in London and rightfully so. The bar is atmospheric and has good sports

🚇 Old Street 🍺 £6.65 Guinness Gibney’s is located just south of Old Street roundabout close to Bunhill Fields. The nearest Tube is Old Street, it’s a couple of minutes walk to get here. This Irish Bar opened in March 2020 and sits beneath sister restaurant, Daffodil Mulligan. The bar is run by the Gibney family who own “Gibney’s” which is one of Dublin’s most celebrated pubs. You enter the bar through a door to the right hand side of the restaurant and head down some stairs to the basement. The servery is located on the right hand side and stretches down the length of the bar. Opposite the servery are some cosy dark wood booths with red leather seating and TV’s. There is plenty of seating throughout with poser tables up the middle and banquettes around the perimeter. There are also a few large screens for watching live sport. The beer selection offers a diverse mix of familiar favourites, Irish craft beers from @ryeriverbrewingco and @5lampsbrewery , Gibney’s own Stout and of course Guinness. I decided on a Guinness, my pint was excellent, price point was a little high. There is a Bar Snacks and Sharers menu if you’re hungry, dishes include Korean Pork Bites, Cauliflower Bhajis, if you want to push the boat out, there is a Suckling Pig to share costing £96. I arrived around 1pm on an overcast Saturday lunchtime in March. The pub was fairly busy with a few different groups, some solo imbibers and some lads sat at the bar. The atmosphere was upbeat with Irish folk songs and 80’s rock classics setting the backdrop to the ambience. The service was top drawer, the chap behind the ramp was on the ball and having the craic with lads at the bar. This Bar shows live sport including Rugby, Football, Horse Racing, NFL and all major sporting events. There is also Live Music, Acoustic sets and traditional Irish Trad nights. Visiting @gibneys.london was a very enjoyable experience. The hospitality was warm, the @guinness was great and the setting a place you could easily loose an afternoon in. No Irish pub gimmicks here, this place is definitely worth a visit. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 16.03.24

Listen to everyone! The best Guinness in London! Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place. Visited on a Sunday afternoon before venturing into central London and it’s a beautiful little spot. Down the stairs into a wonderfully wooden-clad basement. The booths are super and the ambience was nice even with only a few people in there. Will definitely come back when it’s busier for a different experience!

This Irish pub is great. Live music and a great vibe. The staff are awesome. So friendly and they threw in a few cheeky Baby Guinnesses on the house (if you treat them nicely ;-) ). Will definitely be back as it's such a good craic.

Just visited Gibney’s tonight. I’ve drank a lot of Guinness I’ve visited many bars with great staff and a great vibe I’ve eaten many cheese and ham toastie’s. Gibney’s goes BIG on all three! If you’re in London. Visit Gibney’s. Simple.

Amazing place to drink downstairs. Really good bar staff who knew about whiskey and suggested some new ones for me. Will go again and try the food upstairs next time. Not what I expected at all this side of Old Street but pleasantly surprised. I wish there were more bars like this where they care.

Went for the rugby, nice pub and lovely food. However, in the year of our Lord 2025, I cannot believe it is acceptable to play pro-IRA songs over the speakers in a public bar. Utterly astonishing.
